Underdogs Too is a popular spot known for its great atmosphere, friendly service (especially Mary!), and tasty Mexican food with gluten-free options. The Nick's Way tacos and burritos are highly recommended. Some find it a bit loud and occasionally experience minor order mishaps.

Nice bar with some staple bar food. Great Tacos and good wings. TV'S everywhere and had all the college games on at once. Good place to grab food and drinks to watch a game.
What a great neighborhood restaurant. They also have a lot of Gluten Free options! My child declared her burrito the best she ever had. The flautas (gf) were delicious. We came back a second time while on vacation. Wish I could have brought this place back home with me. The service was quick and friendly. Multiple staff attended to us.
Super solid semi-upscale taqueria & bar. We come rather frequently. My go-to is the Baja fish burrito, which is essentially a giant fish taco presented as a burrito. Yes, please! My wife loves their salad and rotates her protein selection based on her mood. Our kids love the street tacos and quesadillas. Agua frescas are always delicious. Chips and guac are loaded! It’s a great spot. Check it out!
Friendly service. Festive atmosphere (a bit loud). Good food. The huevos rancheros were delicious! The skinny guacamole was very creative, healthy, and good, too. Also liked the French toast, and the chilaquiles are OK (not enough salsa or melted cheese on them for my taste, but they were enjoyable anyway). The tortillas for the quesadillas taste a bit sweet (which is weird for Mexicans), and they fry them (not the healthiest), but they're still yummy! The esquite and carrot flautas were OK too -really, been there multiple times, and none of the food has ever been bad, so they've earned a solid 5 stars :-)
Food and drinks on point! Service amazing! Ordered the Pollo Asado Nick's Way Taco 🔥: juicy chicken, flavorful pico de gallo, and guacamole with awesome textures from the soft and crunchy tacos. BOMB! I enjoyed the El Pepino Picante, which was a pretty tangy drink. Our server: Mary is super friendly and attentive. She has a contiguous smile. Definitely would come back.
Updated review: 5/13/2022: A lunch at Underdogs Too is a good way to start the weekend. I had the Pozole (pork stew) $12.50 and two Nick's way Baja fish tacos $17 + Negra Modelo $6. There were slight mishaps though. When my tacos first arrived, they were someone else's two taco order. It was a chorizo and a fish taco. Luckily I checked before eating them. Obviously I had to wait longer because they remade my order. That means another customer received my order. Oops. O wells. When my tacos finally arrived, I had to ask for more tomatoes (pico) as per my original order. Again, more waiting. That lunch rush might have caused the indoor dining room staff to mess up. Stuff happens. Updated review 2/16/2022: We tried coming here a few Sundays ago but there was a line out the door just to get in. We decided to postpone our Underdogs visit to a weekday instead. Last night we had 2x Nick's way baja fish tacos $7.75 each, chorizo taco $6.50, steak taco $6.50, chips with salsa & guac $8.50, beans and rice $2.50 and pints of refreshing beer. My friend and I were arguing which is better, Underdogs' full bar and beer selection or the delicious food that their kitchen puts out. On one hand, there's always new exciting beers to try here. On the other hand, we noticed their meats are always very savory with authentic spices. O, I almost forgot to mention their green and red sauce bottles on the table. Regardless, their staff should get a lot of credit because the bartenders are awesome, waitstaff super attentive and the kitchen crew are just plain wonderful. My only regret is that I need a bigger stomach to fit more of their tacos. One minor nit pick though. Did their chips get harder? I realized the roof of my mouth was all cut up after eating a few chips. Maybe I ate it too fast again. Original review: Underdogs Too is more than a predominant sports bar. I love the lively atmosphere, the friendly staff, great bartenders, plenty of TV's and awesome chefs/menu. This location is less crowded than their 9th Ave. location and easier to get a seat. Tonight, I got my usual Nick's way tacos $13.70 and a beer $7. That first bite into a Underdogs taco is very delicious. The fish taco had both a soft and a crispy tortilla wrapped around a generous piece of fried fish, from what I could tell, cabbage, cilantro and guacamole. The al pastor taco had the same shell/guacamole but with more diced tomatoes. You can't beat that rich smokey flavor of the al pastor. Both were very good. They are perfect without the two squeeze bottles of brown or green sauce. Although, the last few bites, I tend to squeeze just a little on the tacos to mix it up. Instead of chips, I do prefer the little side of beans and rice. Great job everyone at Underdogs Too. My friends and I are huge fans.
The folks at Andytown recommended Underdogs so we gave it a try and I’m glad we did. Although a new employee mistakenly took our order for a San Francisco burrito over the Santa Fe breakfast burrito, both were incredibly delicious, packed with flavor, and the ingredients were well distributed. The restaurant had a Mexicali-style, beach-style vibe with heavy burritos and grilled tortillas. Both our selections were delicious, but the San Francisco burrito (like a California burrito without the fries) was the star in my mind and I can’t wait to come back for another. Oh and the chips and salsa were also excellent.
THIS PLACE IS GREAT. My family has been here twice recently. We got different things each time and we were not disappointed each time. We tried the San Diego and San Francisco burritos. Both yummy. What really impressed me was the floutas. I got one in each flavor. Chicken, beef and carrot??? Yes, order it!! The carrot was sooo good. My child even liked it. And she loved the horchata and pancakes. Ok, i have come back 3 more times now, LOOK at these Nacho’s! Need I say more….. except 🥰delicious. Gotta come back for more, especially on the weekend, since they only serve pancakes on the weekend!
We came here for dinner on a Thursday around 6 pm. Football was playing on the many large-screen TVs throughout the bar, and the place was pretty packed, but we managed to get two seats together at the bar. We ordered a pitcher of house margaritas ($55), which were excellent—I could actually taste the tequila. For starters, we had chips and guacamole. The chips were perfect, topped with a generous amount of guacamole, and the two salsas were delicious! Next, we had the Nick's Way carnitas tacos. They were huge and packed with meat, pico de gallo, and guacamole—very tasty. We left with full bellies and a nice buzz from the margaritas, spending about $94 before tip. The only downside was the sneaky 4.5% surcharge added to subsidize employee healthcare, and the gross bathroom, which had water or maybe urine on the floor.
This is essentially a sports bar that serves Mexican food. We got the chicken quesadilla and vegetarian flautas (so happy I could finally try some!) The flautas were good but the highlight was the side salad with charred corn. The quesadilla was okay, it got soggy quickly. Would try again!
After visiting the SF zoo, this is the only restaurant that was nearby. By its name, I did not know what to expect. After viewing the menu, it is more fusion Mexican. The portions are ample and the ingredients are fresh. The chips can be thinner so the salsa can stick onto the chip, therefore, getting more salsa per chip. Taco and breakfast burrito are good. The bacon made it crunchy which is different. Service is fast. I did not like our server because the server did not have any personality - just a blob doing a job. The server got somewhat irritated because I took too long to decide on what to order (came minutes after we sat down and another 5 minutes later) The restaurant wasn't even crowded. This is my first time and I needed time to digest the menu. There was nothing that jumped at me, so yes, I did take time. Most of the customers (locals or familiar with the menu) knew what they wanted. I just happen to be a "newbie". The atmosphere did not feel friendly to me - people were rarely talking to each other that you would expect in a bar setting.
Overall, place felt like americanized mexican food - in terms of taste and price. I got the california burrito bowl and it wasn’t bad just not something I would go back for. Service was good for the most part. Just a bit slow and it can be hard to get employees attention especially when they don’t really make eye contact when they pass by. I did pick up and had to wait a good 5-10mins before someone finally came to the window to help. When they did help though, they were very friendly and helpful. Food: • Fries were decent - thick cut with a seasoning similar to curly fries. • Toppings were okay, the pico de gallo was a bit flavorless - tasted like it was just tomato and nothing else. Cheese was nice and melted. • Green salsa was good and had nice flavor. Probably the best thing there. • The main flaw was the carne asada - while it was tender and soft - it was too salty for me and wasn’t a fan of the taste.
AI Pastor tastes like school lunch food, this place does not taste Authentic! The beef tacos does not taste authentic, taste like they put it on the grill nd just serve it as that no seasoning 😭( tacos were small as well )
