I really dig the vibe of Chromatic. It's in a big industrial warehouse-type space, and has a lot of space for seating and just enjoying your coffee and food. The space also has some cool merch, nice music, and various coffee table books on offer for you to read while you relax. The staff were quite friendly, and the coffee and food was delicious. Can't really say I have any complaints. Cool coffee shop with a unique vibe. Definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the San Jose area!
In my opinion the best coffee roaster in San Jose. Their roasting program is top notch with a wide variety of origins and processes - something for everyone. They make good espresso drinks too. Located inside of the same building as Hapa’s brewing. Use the entrance near the corner of Lincoln and Auzerais, follow the signs and go straight in and make a right. Chromatic is the first unit on your left behind a big barn-style door
We stopped by morning but it was chilly inside coffee shop so we decided to move to another warm place.
Chromatic coffee for the lack of a better word is hip Cafe done right. Of the many Coffee shops that aspire to be in this category, majority of them get everything right, but the coffee. This is not the case of chromatic. As I walked in, the barista took time to explain the various kind of coffee is that they had and allowed me to ask questions. I went with a medium roast, and the coffee was truly phenomenal. Far cry from anything you get at any of the chains. I originally wanted to just get a cold brew which I have to be honest is a little expensive for just being a cold brew but then I decided to take some coffee beans as well, and they told me the cold brew is complimentary if you buy coffee beans. Win win. The cafe itself is located within warehouse of sorts and is extremely industrial looking. The space itself is huge inter spread with couple of metallic desk and chair. They had some food items as well, but I did not try any. You can buy coffee beans, T-shirts, and even colouring books. They are not cheap though. Even if you just come here for the coffee, you’ll have a good time.
Nice vibe, good coffee, amazing pastry lineup. Multiple vegan options available. Definitely worth a visit.
I was in the area and looked up coffee shops- this place had rave reviews. I was outside looking for the entrance, and a lovely gentleman showed me the way. All of the employees are friendly and welcoming. Their recommendation, based off of what I normally drink, was the Dulce de Leche Latte or coconut mocha. I chose the Dulce de Leche Latte. It was fantastic!!!!!! The flavor was just right and the temperature was perfect! I’d say it’s even better than blue bottle in Santana Row. Fabulous coffee shop.
Great coffee and a nice environment. We tried latte and dark coconut mocha, which were both delicious! Will definitely come back. It would be possible to order online, skip the line and just pick up your order. They sell packs of coffee beans with different flavors such as berries, peach, plum, chocolate fudge, etc. I suggest trying their delicious pies, too. They are from Sweet Dragon and Starter bakeries.
It was my first time experience here, I stopped by with my older brother to grab coffee and coffee beans for our expresso machine. The entire vibe of the place is cozy, mainly because of the Christmas decorations. The place has central heating, thankfully it made me feel warm from the cold weather outside. I had ordered their dark chocolate coconut mocha for take away - It had very little flavours of coconut, but mostly dark chocolate. Nonetheless it was a good refreshing drink!
So glad to have discovered this place. There’s a wide range of hand pour options available. Tried the yellow fruit and the notes is obviously on the acidic side which is perfect with its rich, distinct floral aroma. They also sell a variety of roasted beans. Comfortable seating by the window inside. Definitely coming back for more tasting!
Tried this spot since it was recommended and wow 👌I love the atmosphere here and the vibe they created from decor to the design itself. Loved the croissant and cranberry scone and the mocha is chefs kiss 💋 highly recommend this gem 💎 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Chromatic coffee is my favorite coffee shop in town because it has a lot of vegan pastries options. Usually, they have about 2-4 vegan baked goods. They have moved to a bigger space, which is really nice to sit down and drink your coffee. They have wifi so you can come and work or study.
Best coffee roasters in the South Bay Area! High marks for the vibe of the shop, the taste of the coffee, the knowledge of the staff, and overall experience. The Coffee: The coffee here is extremely fresh. They offer coffee from producers in South America. The coffee is recently roasted (ours was roasted 2 days ago when picked it up). The flavor is great. They offer decent varieties and the presentation is wonderful. PLUS, they give you a free coffee or cold brew with each bag! A little pricy but you pay for quality! Much better than the garbage you can buy at the supermarket that was roasted months ago. The location: We loved the vibe here! They have outdoor seating, the walls and hallways were decorated with art. It had a small town trendy feel and we stayed longer just to enjoy it! Parking is a little tight but you should be able to find a spot! Overall, 10/10 for a great coffee experience whether you’re looking to stock up or just enjoy a cold brew in the sun. Will return!
Love coming here with my pup! The atmosphere is great and there’s always seating. The drinks take a bit longer to make and there’s a reason for the wait - good quality ingredients and care in how they are made. I’ve never had anything but amazing coffee and will keep coming back!

I have been going to Chromatic Coffee for a while now, at this location as well as another they had before the pandemic. They are very serious and dedicated about their coffee, I personally love their DCM (dark chocolate mocha). It has a very fun ambience being located in an old converted warehouse, which definitely gives it an old style urban rustic feel. I love many coffee shops in San Jose but I always come back to this one, having nostalgia for the place.
I look forward to coming here almost everyday! The cold brew is the BEST in the entire Bay Area! I’ve tried them all and by far the Gamut cold brew is IT! Everyone who works here is so kind and friendly. It’s not just what are you having…it’s how are you? What’s new? There’s a sense of belonging when you come here. Sometimes a line forms because they don’t rush you. They genuinely care about you and the quality of the coffee. This place is truly a gem and I’m just so thankful I live so close.
New to the Bay Area and searching for the best coffee in South Bay! Was tipped off to try Chromatic and really liked the vibes of the place and my cortado and brown sugar pineapple pastry. Will definitely go back to try the Tangerine Dream drink or purchase beans!
My husband and I "discovered" this place when it was in it's old space. Happy to see they've expanded and are very popular. The coffee and pastries are fantastic, there's a lot of seating room, and there are games for adults and kids. The staff is great, too. I broke down and bought a hoodie because I love this place so much. 🥰
I like this coffee shop vibe, artistic industrial warehouse kind of interior. Their menu is kind of simple typical coffee shop menu but the seasonal lattes I got were very good. Loveless latte warms your 💕
As an enthusiast of light roasted specialty coffees, i thought this cafe/roaster was good but not great. Their coffees had great descriptions on paper, but when I tasted them, they were brewed to be more heavy in body and sweetness (and resulting slight bitterness) for my taste. It’s just a matter of preference. Many people like this style of coffee. They use a flat bottom brewer for their pour-over which tends to emphasize sweetness in the coffee. The staff were very nice and the pastry I had was delicious. The cafe is in the back part of an old-factory type building. The decor was minimalistic and hip/modern but had now windows which made the atmosphere feel a little dark. The high ceilings help though.
A different vibe and a unique warehouse coffee setup. Their ambience is great with ample sunlight but it was a bit hot and I wish they good AIr conditioning. Their service was cool and we tried their banana latte and vanilla latte along with coconut custard and banana cake. The vanilla latte was good and refreshing. The banana latte was interesting and was a bit too strong for me. The coconut custard pie was good and I wish they served it warm. The banana cake was all great but I felt it was a bit too sweet. Overall an interesting experience.
Got the seasonal cold brew and it was very good - they use the toddy system. Almond milk latte was good too. Cute inside but there is very little seating. Staff seemed preoccupied
If you come on the weekends, be prepared to wait. At least 15-20 min. I visited a few weeks ago and their coffee was pretty good but nothing out of the ordinary. Service was good, but wished it was faster. They have a variety of coffees and pastries, including coffee beans from all over the world It’s a hidden shop but once you go inside it’s pretty cute

It was entirely different set up than usual cafes. And hence quite interesting IMO. So you can walk inside to the store and put in the order. Then the coffee is delivered outside at the front window. Knowing that would definitely help save some time. The coffee was good. It’s a quiet place to work. The servers were good.
It's a cool, hip looking coffeeshop in warehouse, without the steep prices that these places typically demand these days. The coffee was all right, but the vegan Pina marzipan scone was pretty terrible. I tasted stale, dense and had a very weird aftertaste. I would not recommend getting that. Service was just about okay. The baristas looked bored out of their lives. Zero smiles on their faces and when you asked a question you could barely hear their answer.
