Hobee's in downtown San Jose is praised for its friendly service and tasty food, especially the coffee cake. The new location and dog-friendly patio are pluses. Some customers have experienced slow service, but overall, it's a highly recommended breakfast spot.

New downtown location. Same good food and friendly service.
Great breakfast dine in spot.
Great visit !
Great Pasta
Hobees is always a top place for us to have brunch. We go so often that the staff know us by name. It’s like Cheers for breakfast.
Great food. Nice environment. Easy to find street parking.
Our family is a long time Hobies frequenter, for many of their locations, and for many years….Its cool they’re DTSJ, and I hope they stay because this coffee cake is dreamy :)
Amazing food and great service! Never had such a great Super Veggie scramble before and their coffee cakes are just yummmmmmm!
Gets pretty busy during weekend brunch, but the food is great
We have a lovely breakfast today, thank you coming back to San Jose!

I was walking around and stopped by for breakfast and it was so good. The coffee cake was amazing, probably one of the best I ever had. I enjoyed their French toast and omelette. I am excited to come back and try their other dishes. Highly recommend this place!
First time here. Service was outstanding. Food was amazing! I am from out of State and had never heard of Hobees. I highly recommend it and will definately come back next time I am in town. Try it. You will not be disappointed! Soooo goood!!!!
Hobbes is a welcome addition to the DTSJ breakfast scene. Normal sized meals with regular prices except for their coffee. Brewed coffee is $4.55 w/refills. The staff is super nice and the food, made to order, comes quickly. I enjoy having carb side options - rice, grains, potatoes, sweet potatoes or black beans. Another option I like is the mini size of their blended drinks.
Enjoyed a yummy Sunday brunch with a friend this morning. We sat outside in their pretty patio. Service overall was attentive and I was happy to see the patio filling up. Food was good and of course the famous Hobees spiced tea. Yummy! We are SOOOO lucky to have this gem within walking distance to our neighborhood. We'll be back!!
Great food and service. We are so glad there is a patio as we bring our little dogs with us when we go out. We were always regulars at Hobees on Montague before that location closed. We drive over from Alum Rock and have to park at metered parking which is $2/hour - a big negative. We will visit again - yes. But we will not visit as often as we would like because of the crappy parking situation. Other dining options we go to all have convenient, free parking.
This place is highly recommend. Great food, great service and great quality and great coffee ☕. Loving the historical building history, the restaurant in located at. I ordered the breakfast bowl (Sonoma).
Wonderful breakfast spot with friendly staff (down to earth)
Exceptional customer service! I wish I could highlight one person but it wouldn’t be a true review every one of their staff members made it a point to check in. They have a great vibe, they’re kind and professional, and the food was as good as the staff! #coffeecake #ABLT #kindness #iwillbeback #thankyou

Some dark like black color hashbrowns. I like it crispy but not black, servers should pay attention and pick those away to make the dish look better. A little mosquito floating in my water, my kid saw it, asked for a new cup of water. Overall food was good. My “Sonoma” had chicken, hash brown potatoes dices, basil pesto sauce. Not much chicken, lots of potatoes. Coffee cake was good. Kids had Mickey Mouse pancake, only one piece served, quite pricey. My kid didn’t like the orange swirl French toast, couldn’t really see the swirl, I see a thin slice of orange provided on the plate. Atmosphere, interestingly it was in a “house” building converted into a restaurant. Parking: street parking
Lovely usually cloth covered outdoor dining, with lights, usually with light radio quality music (still can talk), and wide variety of options for brunch and dinner items, including vegetarian and gluten free. They do a pretty good job of listing ingredients and helping with bona fide food allergies. For folks that imbibe in alcohol, there are a few cute cocktails, (mocktails for those that don't drink), and beers. We moved over from the Sunnyvale Hobees for dining when their outdoor seating area was closed. We are happy to drive to continue to support the small, local chain. Great servers!
This restaurant is housed in a lovely building with a welcoming atmosphere. The food is excellent—fresh, healthy, and full of flavor. They offer a good variety of options to suit different tastes and dietary needs, which I really appreciated. The standout item for me was their signature coffee cake—it was absolutely outstanding and worth the visit on its own. Customer service was also top-notch. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made the experience feel personal and enjoyable. The only downside is the location. Parking can be a bit tricky, and just a block down, there's a park where groups of homeless individuals tend to gather, which may be a concern for some visitors. Overall, despite the parking and surrounding area, I highly recommend this place for its food, service, and unique charm.
Hobees is one of the best diner I've seen in Northern California. They have great options for everyone including vegan friendly options. Please note the place is much smaller competitively to Sunnyvale. However the quality is still same. Looking forward to come here regularly

Overpriced for what you get
I really hate leaving this review. I really want to support this business.. I’ve been to the restaurant twice in one week, I really am a big fan of second chances and everybody has an off day. The food was stuck in the 1970’s. Coffee was thin and very diner like. The only positive part was that the coffee cake was excellent! I try to be extremely positive in my reviews, but I’m really struggling with this. I want to be accurate and forgiving. I hope they will take this review not as criticism but his feedback on an opportunity to improve.
In a house in a quiet street with plenty of metered parking. Some of the dishes were good.

I am so disappointed in the downtown San Jose location, I only have it 3 stars because I can't give a 2 1/2 and the food is still good. We sat for over 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order (I don't know why we waited, we should have got up and left). My brother had to tell someone we were ready to order and then we still had to wait. Maybe our server was on break, okay then seat us in an active section. We watched people who arrived after us, seated in other sections, get served before us. The two tables to either side of our table were also neglected; at one point a person next to us was tired of waiting and got up to get the items the table had asked for on her own. Keep in mind they asked for these things before we sat down because no one came to our tables for over 20 minutes. There were more people working the floor than there were parties seated in the dining area. I think outside was neglected as well because people kept coming in to check on the things they had requested and ask for their checks. I miss the old locations and service. My family and I have been coming to Hobees for years. This new location does not have the same feel as the original locations and its a bit disappointing. If you are wanting that true Hobees experience, take the extra time to go to the locations in Sunnyvale or Palo Alto because the coffee cake is still delicious.

I had high hopes for this location. Especially since it’s close to my neighborhood and in walking distance. The first couple times were excellent. Exceeded my expectations and every visit since has just gone downhill. The server has no personality whatsoever. She has no business working at a restaurant. She takes your order. Drop your food off and never returns. Today was a complete disaster and unfortunately, I will never be back again to this location. Once again the server with no personality waited on me. I asked my breakfast to be cooked to certain way she dropped it off and never came back. The manager is the one that brought me my check. He had no personality either I’m talking to him and he walks away from me. Good luck Hobee’s, you’ll need it!
We waited for half an hour and no one came to take the order despite having very few customers. Never wasting my time there again
