Pretty good overall for a quick bite. Friendly service, my Denver omelet was very good. We found this place looking for a quick lunch during 75miles bike ride from Los Gatos to Monterey and it didn’t disappoint. Likely not famous for its coffee or upscale atmosphere, but it’s fast, not expensive and good food, so 5 stars. Ah, one more thing, “cat shack” was cute but no cats sadly.
Swung by here to break up a 4 hour drive between SLO and SF, this was a perfect halfway spot to stop and get a bite to eat and enjoy the scenery and park across the street. Friendly staff greeted us when we walked in. The menu has plenty of options, so we ordered a few items. We ordered a calamari sandwich, jalapeno burger, fries, and fried zucchini. The outdoor seating area next to the lagoon is great, really pretty and calming to relax at after being on the road for 2 hours. Dog friendly too, so that was a big plus. The food came out pretty quickly. Good size on all of the food, more than enough to eat for the two of us and our toddler. My calamari sandwich was delicious, perfectly fried and not greasy. The sourdough bread was a really nice choice to balance out all of calamari, tartar sauce and veggies. My wife's burger was loaded up with all of the fixing and it was a nice and juicy patty. It was quite good with the heat from the jalapenos. Crinkle cut fries were a fun surprise, cooked perfectly and not greasy. The fried zucchini were awesome, larger than anticipated and really juicy. Overall a great pitstop on a long drive, though I would certainly go out of my way a bit to eat here again!
My husband & I stopped by here for lunch... after reading the reviews, we thought we'd give it a chance and so happy we did!! My husband ordered a double cheeseburger and I ordered the calamari sandwich with a cup of clam chowder and it was soooo GOOD!! My soup had big chunks of clam, steamy hot and very tasty. My sandwich was perfectly topped with pickles, onions, tomatos and a yummy sauce... the calamari steak was cooked just right. His cheeseburger was good and also cooked perfectly. We were both in foody heaven... mmmmm. Portions are pretty big and it's very affordable! There was no wait and we recieved our order in about 10-15 minutes. The lady who took our order was very friendly & nice. We sat outside at the picnic tables in the back and enjoyed the beautiful view of the water, wild flowers, birds & surrounding area. This is now a new favorite for us and anytime we are in the area we plan to come again. What a gem! Truly was a great lunch/dining experience!
Small & classic deli menu, plus a hearty clam chowder & a few sweet treats, all for a very reasonable price. Seating inside & outside, beside the canal. In a tiny town of limited options, this is a very good one!
Love the sandwiches and the wonderful women who staff the front end of Phils! Patty melt 10/10 - thanks kitchen staff! And there is a sweet neighborhood cat.
Best Fish sandwich I’ve ever had!!! Great to come by with friends and just enjoy!!
Our go-to stop for lunch when driving by. Get the fish sandwich! Great to support a local business too
phils Snack Shack and daily is a wonderful place to eat very nice sandwiches and the best philly Cheese steak ever. The Service is very nice and Manuel is a wonderful Hard working jefe. Stop here.

We have been here twice - both times for lunch. The sandwiches - especially the sand dab and calamari sandwiches - are outstanding. The restaurant itself is pretty basic - order at the counter and they bring you food in a bag out to you in the courtyards or to the tables inside. I cannot overstate how delicious the sandwiches - the toasted sourdough bread, sauce, pickle and very generous amount of seafood - makes them hugely satisfying and almost more than you can eat. Can't really speak for the other food, but it is probably great too. Ambience is very straightforward and no time or money is wasted on pretty-ing it up. But that adds to the charm Be advised - there are no bathroom facilities. (Although I was allowed to wash my hands in a sink near the door! I appreciated that.)
I popped in here yesterday for a breakfast burrito and a cup of coffee. You get to choose the meat and type of cheese on your burrito and it’s filled with goodness. The staff is friendly and the service is speedy. There is a covered heated patio for you to enjoy if it’s cold out too.
Just for the atmosphere and the awesome setting of this place I'll deal with the crappy food in the poor service it's awesome here

I had the chicken sandwich on sourdough and a cup of clam chowder. My husband had the calamari sandwich with garlic crinkle cut fries. Great spot for lunch!
Food was ok. It was fast which was what we needed. The website listed is for the place in Castroville. I posted pics of the actual menu.

It sits outside the KOA, and we ordered breakfast burritos on our way out. Big portion, to much for me to eat, and good flavor.
First time here. Longtime fan of Phil's that relocated to Watsonville. We'll be back. 3 of us ordered the sand dab sandwich. Perfectly prepared. Light crispy coated fresh sand dab on toasted sourdough with shredded lettuce, tomato, thinly sliced red onion, pickles and mayo. Friendly staff and great prices. You won't be disappointed.
It’s still in business and the calamari sandwiches still amazing. The whole Phils vibe has lost its luster once they moved the main restaurant into town away from the ocean. At least we can still grab a lunch at the snack shack. They took away the blue room so make sure to wash hands before going.

Stopped here because we didn’t have time for the full Phil’s fish market experience. Expected good quick food but in a casual setting. Food was mediocre at best. Had barely edible snapper tacos, the fish pieces looked like scraps. The rest of my parties food was better but we ending up tossing half what was ordered. I’m surprised the owners of Phil’s are associated with this spot. Bad food in a run down shack. Really curious is the other reviews are real… I will say the people working there were very nice.

I was just there I had ordered a chicken sandwich with avocado, got charged extra for it and there was none in the sandwich. I also ordered one of their hot dog special, I clearly said no mustard, I am allergic to it I repeated myself two times and also said I only wanted specific things on it and when I pick it up it has mustard and not how I wanted it. I call back to tell them and the guy taking orders tells me there is nothing they can do and as he’s telling the cook I can hear the cook say “how was a supposed to know how they wanted it” and also refused to remake it because they were “busy”. When I asked the guy to look at the receipt he said he didn’t have it. I’ve been ordering the same thing for a while and never had an issue until now. Just paid for something that went to the garbage. Never going back to a place where they mess up your order that you paid for and still give you attitude.
Staying at the moss landing KOA and tried the Phils snack shack. I would not recommend it. My wife had oral surgery and just wanted some eggs and cheese. They said no problem. When I got it. No cheese and was way over cooked. I got a breakfast burrito, was huge. The bacon was not even cooked and the sausage was over cooked. When the wife called to ask why. The guy wouldn't say anything. He just stayed quiet. Wouldn't answer any questions. When he finally said something, he just said that's how we do it. It might be personal preference but I would not go there for anything. They are obviously living off of Phils fish markets name! Been staying at the moss landing KOA off and on for years. This is the worst food from anywhere around here we have had ever!
Food is good but beware of ripoff. The prices on the wall are not the prices they charge. I ordered pancakes for $5.99 and they charged me $8.99. When I pointed this out the girl said prices had gone up. I asked when and she said yesterday. Bullshit. The prices were on a whiteboard and could have been updated in just a few minutes. They are clearly doing this on purpose. As I walked out I told her this was probably illegal, bait and switch, and she said “wow” as if I was the ridiculous one. I was planning on going back with three other people that evening for dinner but based on their attitude we went somewhere else. I suggest you do the same.
