Homemade mole with the right amount of spice. Two pieces of juicy chicken. Lots of mole sauce. Two handmade thick corn tortillas. A place to come get authentic Mexican food
Damn!! Aside from the hand made tortillas. The salsas are on point. I ordered a steak super taco. Which includes sour crème slices of avocados. The meat is super tender. I also ordered a agua fresca mango flavored. Boy it was all delicious and filling.
Complete hole in the wall gem. The food here is absolutely delicious. I have enjoyed everything I have ordered. I have also brought friends here and they have ordered things I haven't. I have only heard great things from my friends too. Highly recommend.
This is my all time fav place. Staff is extremely nice and helpful to your needs. They keep it very clean. I love their horchata and veggie options with the two sauces. My fav in this pic is super tacos $5 each, loaded with all veggies, greens, salsa, rice and beans, cheese, avocado. I've not had such a good horchata even in Mexico. I eat there at least once a week.
I was doing fencing classes in the same plaza as Tacos El Compa and decided to give this place a try. They have an extensive menu but they are known for their tortas. It's $16, but it can feed 2 people or last for 2 meals. It is so filling, with so much meat and ingredients in the torta. It was very flavorful and definitely liked it more than their tacos. Highly recommend trying their tortas!
We loved this place! Went to this taqueria on a whim. They had really good reviews, so we took a detour before heading back up to Santa Clara. I got the Nacho fries with carne asada and 2 tacos with al pastor and carnitas. My spouse got 2 of the hot cheetos taco with al pastor and chorizo). He also got the chicken taquitos. Their asada was great flavorful and not dry! The fries they use (skinny fries) work well with the toppings in the nachos. We LOVED the al pastor! It wasn't pineapple forward like most al pastor out there, so we enjoyed it. The carnitas weren't the best that we've had, but at least it wasn't dry. We also enjoyed the hot cheetos tortilla surprisingly. My spouse liked the taquitos, but I thought they were on the dryer side. It really needed the salsa. Speaking of salsa, their roasted and green salsa were the better ones we've had, too. Don't pass on the aguas frescas either! I would go back just to try all of them. Overall, this is a very solid taqueria. 👌
This is my new favorite Mexican food place in the world…it’s the absolute best. I hope my Mexican mom isn’t reading this because it’s even better than hers! It’s a small and unassuming place. I ordered chili verde and a Torta. Both were amazing and just thinking about them now makes me hungry for them again. Unfortunately I live over an hour away. I will be back without a doubt.
My Mexican friend showed me a social media post about the best tortas found in San Jose. Since none of us has ever gone to Tacos El Compa, we decided to come out here and try it. When we arrived around noon, there was already a long line + people sitting in the small, limited spaces available. When we got to the front, the person let us know that it was gonna be an hour wait. Well... we were already here, very hungry but also wanted to try this place, so we will wait. Luckily they gave us our drinks. I went with the strawberry fresca which was delicious and had a good amount of strawberry flavor! My friend ordered the horchata, which he said was probably the second best horchata he has ever had (the best was down in San Diego, so for something close in proximity, I will gladly come here). But by all means, very good! Finally, around 45 minutes later, our orders arrived! My friend saw on the menu that the carnitas were "deep fried", so he immediately got giddy and excited. He said that all other "carnitas" in other restaurants usually aren't fried (not traditional) so they usually fall flat. So we both ordered carnitas tacos, and boy that was delicious! Soft and juicy, with some fried bits you can taste and feel on the sides. ONE AWESOME THING TO NOTE: my friend says the tortillas are most likely HOMEMADE since they didn't come in perfect circles or shaped perfectly. There is evidence of imperfect cuts and shaping. Regardless, the tortilla was soo good! Next up were the tortas. I had carne asada with mine and man! First bite tasted like a hamburger to me, which I love and do not mind at all! Not to mention that this is a huge chonker (not as big as Mexico Bakery down at Story Rd, but still a darn good size!). I think Mexico Bakery is larger, but I prefer the ingredients and seasonings used here! They also provided a red sauce and green sauce, which the red sauce was spicy and good, while the green sauce was savory. I personally like it without the sauce since the meat marinade and ingredients used are delicious on its own, that any sauce added would overpower the flavor they put in. But if I had to choose, I actually like the green sauce more. Overall, 5/5. I love this place. This is going to be a tough place to beat for tortas. I would definitely try the other menu items next time! Pro-tip: just come when they open to beat the lines.
This place was great! It was a small spot with a few staff, but man were these some of the best enchiladas I've ever had. Our group got the red, mole, and green salsa enchiladas and some chicken flautas. I know I thought the green salsa was the best flavor, but someone else in the group loved the mole best. The flautas were on point and well worth it as a side dish. Will definitely be coming back!
Gave this place a try since it had very good reviews and we were not disappointed! The pictures do no favor to how good and flavorful the food was!! The side of rice and beans were delicious and to me it was a good portion. The tacos were amazing and my husband enjoyed his as well. The only thing that didn't quite make it was the salsa. Not spicy as others but it was fine for my husband since he doesn't do too much spicy. Lastly the quesadilla, it might look small on here but it was actually pretty good size and very flavorful! Would definitely come back to this place if I'm ever back visiting.
I had this place book marked for a while now being it had such high praise and reviews. The pictures posted also look so good. As I walked in I noted the place was hopping busy with every seat taken. I walked up to the counter and saw that they had a 2 sided menu “with no pictures” hmmm what do I order? Heck I don’t even know what some of these food items are. I asked the cashier what he recommended and he took out his phone and showed me pictures of what people order a lot. “Good selling tool, just wish the pictures were on the menu” I ended up ordering a super taco $3.99 soft tortilla, L Pastore meat, sour cream, avocado, diced tomatoes and a wedge of lime. A Jefecita with carnitas meat. $4.99 this one comes with a larger soft tortilla with browned burnt cheese on both sides of the Tortilla. “See pics” Last but not least a horchata to drink “ one of the better ones I’ve had “and I’ve had a lot, trust me. I sat at my table “the only one available lol” and a nice lady with a smile on her face brought my order with 2 different bottles of homemade sauce “red and green” both slightly hot, the red one had kind of a smoky flavor. I opted for the green “and lots of it, so good” Now for the flavors: the super Taco with the L Pastore has got to be the best I’ve had so far “anywhere” but the Jefecita..,,,,OH MY GOSH I felt like...... well Sally “from the movie when Harry met Sally” except I was screaming Jes! Jes! “In my head, silent voice lol” And my eyes rolled so far up in the back of my head I could see behind me!! People this place is Da real deal!! One side note, I watched as people got up from the tables how the worked immediately busted and clean the tables!! Good job!!!
This is our 1st time eating @ Tacos El Compa and it won't be our last. It's a small taqueria, maybe 20 customers can sit and eat comfortably. They don't serve alcohol, seafood and there's no table service. I was the only customer ordering but other customers received their food already. The service was quick and the staff was friendly and helpful. Since it was our first time, she gave us a quick run down of the menu. I ordered the SUPER 🌯 and it was massive and delicious. Normally I can finish a super burrito in one sitting. I only ate 1/4 of it. It wasn't all rice and beans. It had a good ratio of asada, beans and rice. The rest of the family had the super 🌮. It was the 1st time they tried freshly made 🌽 tortillas! It was hot, sort of flacky but it held all the ingredients very well.and it was thick. It's unfortunate we don't live in the area, otherwise we would eat here more often. Great find!
So lucky to live just a couple miles from this taqueria. The food is always wonderful and the staff is genuinely kind. Their homemade tortillas make every dish feel special. I especially love the bowls, tacos, bean and cheese burritos, and aguas frescas. Honestly, you can’t go wrong with anything here.
Food was good. Definitely a good option for what's around the South Bay. Otdered the El Jefe and the Jefecito with everything.... was pretty 👍 good. Big portions (pictures provided). They don't skimp on the meat either so that's a plus ➕! Tacos 🌮 were also good. Wasn't in love but hard to come by when so many Mexican restaurants and taquerias are located in the bay area. Carnitas 🍖 meat was a way go-to!!!! Service was exceptional, had no issues with ordering and was greeted with a friendly face 😀 Love that they serve beer🍻 here and enjoyed the horchata 🥛 Will try the burrito 🌯 next time. Would recommend but not saying it's the best tacos I've had unfortunately.
Tacos El Compa: A San Jose Must-Try! My go-to order is the carne asada taco plate paired with their refreshing strawberry agua fresca. The taco plate comes with rice and beans as well. This combo is the perfect balance of satisfying and delicious, making it my ideal lunch. for a satisfying and tasty meal. This meal always hits the spot and gives me the energy to power through the rest of my day. Highly recommend!
There are only about 5 tables in the small restaurant, and the seats are very crowded. Most of the people are waiting for takeout. I ordered the super taco with steak $5.50. It was very delicious with avocado on top. It went well with Mexican Coke. Super burrito actually just adds avocado, not too much meat. I probably won’t order it again next time, because you can eat this kind of burrito everywhere.
Delicious and straightforward tacos like the ones El Compa are hard to beat. Staff were friendly. I will say I was a bit disappointed the flamin’ hot cheetoh tacos weren’t spicy; it seemed like the tortillas were just red for show as the hot flavor didn’t come through. Other than that, the el pastor and tinga were scrumptious.
Mexican taqueria in strip mall. Zero ambiance inside, absolutely no decoration of any kind. Two large TVs on random channels. If you want to try suggest you take it to go. Nachos good. They use flour tortillas which I am not a fan of. Pinto beans had no real flavour, not sure why this place gets high ratings.
Honestly, the service was terrible. I came in after seeing the place advertised all over my Instagram. I ordered three tacos: carnitas, al pastor, and asada. The asada and carnitas tacos were pretty good, but the al pastor taco tasted nothing like it should. The meat didn't smell right and didn't taste like al pastor. I told the cashier, thinking they might have given me the wrong meat. She took my plate and talked to the crew. They didn't realize I spoke Spanish and said, "There's nothing we can do, that's al pastor, and some people just have different preferences." She came back and told me, "There's nothing we can do." Honestly, that’s some terrible service. I asked if I could choose a different type of meat because this one smelled bad and didn't taste good. She said proceeded on saying the same thing “there’s nothing we can do”. That was not Al pastor
just look at this picture and tell me if you think you’d eat this. looks and taste like it’s been in the box for days, fries were soggy as all hell and everything was clumped up together and have no flavor. and it was $50 for nacho fries and a quesadilla. FIFTY DOLLARS LADIES AND GENTLEMEN. Just please avoid this place, you can’t even eat inside there’s 4 90’s taco bell style tables and chairs in a narrow 8ft hallway they call a dining area.
