Yummy Vietnamese Food! Great place to go for a quick lunch, as the food comes quickly. I usually go to the Tay Ho in Santa Clara but tried out the San Jose location. Fair warning: parking is tough on weekends, so you may have to circle around or park in the residential areas. Love how there are vegetarian options, and you do not find many places offering vegetarian banh coun with the vegetarian fish sauce. Plus to find a place that offers it and it is actually good! The prices are VERY reasonable, considering how everything is so costly now. Happy to not be forking out a ton of money for a lunch here. Service is quick and they are patient and explain menu items to you. Recommend!
Delicious food and beverages!! Friendly atmosphere and staff…Thank you for the wonderful meal!
The proprietor is so nice. I came here with several family members who aren't familiar with Vietnamese food and she kindly and patiently went over the menu with us and made recommendations based on everyone's tastes. We ended up getting some of the rice roll combo plates, Hainan chicken, and grilled chicken rice plate. It was a big hit and everyone finished every bite. A+ hospitality and food.
The best banh cuon one can find. It's thin, flavorful with great texture. The shrimp and yam fritters are crunchy and very tasty. Cha, pork roll, is good and the sweet garlicky fish sauce combined all together into a great meal.
This place is great for something light and healthy. #11 does not disappoint and always hits the spot. They also have really good soups and noodles. If you are craving something with Vietnamese fish sauce, like I do, this place will be a new favorite.
An authentic Vietnamese restaurant that has been around for a while. Their menu is pretty diverse with an array of dishes like cơm tấm (broken rice plates), phở, but most popular for their bánh cuốn (rice paper dishes). I got the bánh cuốn tay hồ đặc biệt for $19.00 (rice flour paper specialty plate) which came with their original and pork & mushroom filled bánh cuốn, beansprouts, fried sweet potato with shrimp, Vietnamese ham, fried egg roll, fried mung bean ball, and a side of sweet Vietnamese fish sauce to dip everything with. The main flavor profile of the dish is from the nước mắm (fish sauce) – it was on the sweeter side. I wish I got the spicy version and that there was garnishing to add more complex and herby flavor to it. The rice paper was soft, floury and slightly chewy. Mixing everything with the beansprouts and fish sauce made the dish feel healthy. My favorite component was the fried sweet potato and shrimp – it gave the meal a crunchy texture and a palette reset from the fish sauce. Overall good portion size and decently priced.
Came for dinner on a weekend. There was one table left so there was no wait. The food was good and came out quickly. The Vietnamese coffee was strong. Smoothies came in to go cups which was helpful since they were large and kids didn’t finish by the time we left. I thought the traditional Banh cuon was good. The shrimp and pork were relatively overcooked and dry.
Highly recommend this place. Their banh cuon tastes exactly like the one I made at home, which is made from fresh rice instead of dry flour. It has a distinct traditional flavor that if you don’t make it in the right way, no way it will have that flavor.
Nice place! Like home, simple. Service very quick. Serving is large. And very affordable. Not a place to show off your wealth because it does not look luxurious. But I love the place.
Vermicelli noodle with pork and shrimp was delicious, seafood with pork udon was tasty. They serve you with all you can eat fish sauce! Very friendly and quiet atmosphere!
Highly recommend no 1, 51 & 53. See pics. The beef stew with bread is best stew I had in the last few yrs. Service is quick. Food is great price.
This is probably the best Vietnamese restaurant I have been to in the SF/ Bay Area. Nothing beats the price and quality of food. I would recommend trying Bun Rieu and Mi Quang.
The food here is fantastic. We were craving banh cuon and this place delivered. If you don’t know what to order and would like to try something good and authentic, choose #12 and their Vietnamese milk coffee. Haven’t tried other things on the menu but I’m sure it taste great also.
Same as Tay Ho in Santa Clara. We are in the area so stop by to try it out. Seating area is small so there's a wait for 6 people for 20 minutes. Food tastes same so no wonder there's a wait list. Highly recommend if you're in the area.
Such good food and great service. Our daughter, who is allergic to peanuts, forgot to tell the waitress about it. She was just going to pick out the section with the peanuts and avoid eating that, but the waitress noticed that and immediately came over to offer to replace it, which she did. That's great service.
Great service and good food to go. Plenty of parking. Be sure to call ahead, closes at 7:30pm. UPDATE 7-7-2025: Still great service. Flat sheet rolls are good.
Wonderfully amazing food! I got the Banh Cuon Tay Ho Special, and it was delicious! The banh cuon was rolled beautifully, and the filling was tasty. The egg roll and sweet potato fritter were also great! I could have used less bean sprouts on my plate as it felt like a huge handful was on it, but all in all wonderful to eat. The banh uot was also so yummy! Nuoc mam dipping sauce was also perfection. We also got the Che dessert, and they were sweet and delectable. All in all a wonderful visit!
Staff was nice, good was great and prices were good. Will definitely stop here again in our next San Jose trip

I thought that the banh cuon here isnt bad or isnt super good. It's kind of rare to find banh cuon at a restaurant so I'll give them that. The shrimp tempura on top is also pretty good. Honestly not bad, but not awestrucking. I wouldnt come here for the other dishes specifically but they're also not bad.
If you're looking for Banh Cuon, noodle soup or rice plates, rice cakes with shredded pork and shrimp, Banh Xeo, etc. I would recommend to try this place! I have to thank my friend Ben for his suggestion for trying this place out. I've had a craving for Vietnamese food but really wanted to have a Banh Cuon fix. Finally! I've found a place that gives a large plate priced between $5.25-$7.95. Flour or rice sheets, ground pork, sprouts, shrimp tempura, etc. I ordered myself a #11 the Banh Cuon Nhan Thit that had a little bit of everything that's all meat. Of course, they do have vegetarian options and seafood too. I really want to try their seafood #54 next time! FYI...if you think the pitchers that are brought out to your table are drinks, be careful. It's their fish sauce! You'll need a bowl to spoon it all over your dish. It's what gives the Banh Cuon dish a lot of its flavor. As for a small dessert or something to tickle your sweet tooth, you can try their "che" drinks. I ordered myself the coconut and tapioca drink. Not too bad, but it was a little bit on the warm side. I was hoping it'd be cold. Oh well! Would I come back again? Of course! If not for the drinks, I'll definitely be back for the other stuff on the menu!
I had Banh Cuon. Not sure if it was because I hadn't had it in months coming from the East Coast, but it was really good (and I am from Vietnam). Service could be improved though, or probably it is the way it is around here... Nobody greated when I came in and I had to ask first to seat myself. The place was not crowded since it's around 3pm on a weekday. I also went to the counter to ask for check and pay... Again not a negative feedback on service, just felt a little strange since I am new to the area...
Great cultural cuisine. Very good for summer food or autumn. Come a little earlier than lunch time or after the lunch hours if you want to avoid long lines. Order for pick up is another good option!
Nice place. Classic vietnamese food and service.
I would say their various options for banh cuon and banh uot are very nice. The restaurant gives a small homey feel to it. The service was fast and the food came out warm. The only reason it doesn’t get the full five stars is because the fish sauce was bland. Even though it came in a huge pitcher, the sauce was lacking flavor.
Came here while visiting my parents. The grand-kids wanted to try out Bang Cuon and came here for the first time out of a suggestion from my mother. My wife and I had #11. The Bang Cuon combo. My wife and kids love all things noodles and noodley. It came with variety. The noodles were very tasty. Nice firmness and flavors. The cha lua was too dense and lacking in much flavor and was the disappointing factory of the dish. The yam fritter was delicious. Perfectly fried, crispiness on out side while sweet yam softness inside. The mungbean fritter was a bit doughy. Saved by its flavor. Kids and wife liked all items in this dish minus the cha lua. My Father had Banh Canh. He didn't enjoy it. Said the soup was off. My mother and I gave it a taste test. Definitely off. Could be simply a difference in culture/region. What we are used to versus where this version of Banh Canh originates from. I wouldn't say it wasn't good. Just different and not my preference of style. My mother had Banh Uot to try. She enjoyed her dish very much.
It's a small restaurant that serves delicious food and has friendly service. The atmosphere is cozy, and the place is kept clean, including the bathroom. Today was my first time visiting the restaurant, and I ordered a vegetarian dish (Bánh Cuõn Nhân Chay). To my surprise, they brought me vegetarian sauce without me having to ask for it and even replaced my cutlery, which was a grand gesture of excellent service.
Had a very late lunch after my appointment with my CPA....around 4:30 pm. Let me tell you a little secret. This is one of the rare neighborhood restaurant that haven't had a price increase at all. Almost every thing is still under $12 per entree. For those that are looking for budget lunch eat, this is definitely one of them. I decided to have broken rice with grilled pork and shredded pork & pork skin rolls. By Vietnamese standards, the rolls this time looks very unappealing and chunky like a burrito....but it still tasted very good as usual. The broken rice entree came with a complimentary clear broth soup. Overall good neighborhood casual restaurant that's on the affordable side.
My favorite place for “Bun Rieu” (noodle with crab paste). Homestyle cooking with full of flavor and fresh vegetable dish goes together with noodle. Friendly service and price is acceptable. The only uncomfortable is parking lot, you might find it hard to find a space near the restaurant, and the parking space is small.
When you first arrive at this location. You may be turned off by shopping center. Its older and build with a narrow drive way. Don't fret. This place is worth all the problem you may have to deal with on the outside. Once inside you see the size of the place. It's small. Seating capacity is 49. After you get past the size. You seat in the classic dinner chairs of the 90s. Put your butt in a seat. Open the menu. Now close it. Order a number 11 and enjoy. This place is all about its banh cuon. 11 is the combination banh cuon. It has everything you could ever need in a meal. They serve other vietnamese dishes. I may eat some of them when I'm back in that area. 4 stars for outstanding food at a great price. If they ever move to a better location with better parking they will be one of the best restaurant in all of San Jose. They killing it.

The sauces were tasty and flavorful. Different kinds of profiles with seafood, noodles, broth, vegetables enhanced the more plain meats.
It's DEF a 5-Stars eat but I NEVER give out 5-Stars cause there's ALWAYS room for improvements. HIGHLY recommended for their Banh Cuon. That's it... Enjoy.

I have to rate lower now, the che I ordered was only filled 2/3rd of the cup and bottom content was frozen solid. The Banh Cuon Dac Biet is a lot smaller than before and costs more. Still one of my favorite spots to eat, but this disappoints me.
The food is very inexpensive, I'm expecting the ingredient quality is probably lower, but I can't tell while eating. Three service is good, they provided us with an extra scissor for cutting noodles and they are fast. Maybe because they are not packed with customers
My dad wanted to come here for Father's Day and I took him. He and I ordered the Dac Biet [house combo] plate and a side of eggrolls. My boyfriend ordered Buon Thit Nuong. He's never tried Banh Cuon before, so he wasn't sure he wanted to order it. We came at a good time on a Sunday. It was right before their dinner rush. As we were eating my dad said the food isn't the same since it's under new management; however, I think it was decent. It's not the best, but it's good. The eggrolls were good. They weren't king eggroll status. They were good by itself or with some nuoc mam. We didn't realize that eggrolls came with the combob, as result we had extra to take home. I wish they gave more cucumbers with the plate though. All in all, the service was as expected like any other Asian restaurant. Inattentive. We had to wave down the waiter for more water and other necessities. Food was good. Food arrival was fast!
Nothing special and very ordinary. Nothing to shout about. The Pork Rib Rice was a letdown in Vietnamese standard. Meat is pan fried and dry, no marination. The meat should be grill. Will not recommend
We arrived around 6:20pm and they told us we can only order takeout because their last orders were 6:30 and they close at 7. I ordered #11 for take-out and paid. 5 minutes later my order was ready. When they handed me my food, they told me that they were out of egg rolls, so they replaced it with the fried yam and the bean cake. This was disappointing because I like the egg rolls very much. It would have been nicer if they told me this information before I paid and waited. I would have ordered something else. Other than this, the food was very good and the takeout items were nicely packed.
I used to love Banh Cuon Tay Ho on Senter Road, but a few days ago I went back and ordered banh cuon nhan thit (with meat filling), and it was extremely disappointing. With every single bite, I felt like I was chewing on sand or grit. The ground pork was dry, the rice rolls were no longer chewy, and they didn’t even resemble the traditional shape of banh cuon anymore. It honestly feels like the recipe has been changed to cut costs and increase profit. This place used to be one of my favorites, but biting into grit again and again was unacceptable. Were the wood ear mushrooms and cilantro cleaned properly? Why aren’t the rolls translucent and delicate like real banh cuon should be? And why is the pork so dry now? I won’t be coming back, but I hope you can improve your product quality so you don’t lose the customers who still support you. Service was very attentive and that deserved 5 stars
