This place truly stands out for authentic Filipino flavors. Every dish was perfectly prepared and packed with rich, comforting taste. The pancit was beautifully seasoned, the bisteg tender and flavorful, and the adobo absolutely unforgettable. An experience that genuinely impressed me.

Isla offers authentic Filipino cuisine featuring classic dishes crafted with traditional flavors. The sisig was expertly prepared, crispy around the edges, and bursting with savory goodness. The kare-kare pork was tender and flavorful, served with a rich peanut-based sauce and crispy vegetables. Servers are attentive, prompt, and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance was warm and inviting, with cozy decor and lively music creating a welcoming atmosphere—definitely the best place to gather with friends and families for an enjoyable Filipino dining experience.

This review is for our server named "Nay". He is an attentive and friendly server we had today. He ensure that all our requests are accommodated right away. He gave us a great recommendation for me and my mom since it was her first time here. The pancit was freshly cooked. The lechon kawali was crispy and we separated the kare kare sauce. We ordered the bilao # 1 which all items are cooked fresh and delicious. My mom got the sago and gulaman which is balanced sweet and good amount of sagot, gulaman and ice. They provided the condiments on the side such as vinegar, sweet and sour, fish sauce, sili and mang tomas sauces.. We will definitely go back here and will request for Nay again.

Filipino food from the province of Pampanga. Great food and service. Our all time favorite for the past several years.

First time to dine here. So many Filipino customers. So festive! I’m happy that there’s a place my kababayans meet and eat!

Food is delicious! We were a party of 4 with a baby and were seated right away and got our food almost immediately. The only downside is that the staff weren't very aware that we were ready for the check. Multiple employees walked passed us as our plates were untouched, so speed of service went down from there. More frequent table touching would help and treating smaller parties with the same kind of service as the large tables would be beneficial in elevating service at this restaurant. Restrooms were clean, staff courteous and presentable, just lacking in the areas mentioned above. We are planning to return in a few months for a larger family birthday and hoping this issue has been solved by then.

This Filipino spot blew me away. We ordered the Sulit Bilao #3, a massive kamayan-style spread served on banana leaves, and it was one of the most fun and satisfying meals I’ve had in a long time. The platter had everything — grilled meats, lumpia, longganisa, chicharrón, shrimp, veggies, and rice — all packed with flavor and clearly made with care. Even the sides and dipping sauces were great. Service was friendly, the vibe was relaxed, and the whole experience felt genuinely welcoming. If you’ve never tried kamayan dining, this is a great place to start.

This has been the BEST Filipino food I've had in a long time. Everything was cooked to perfection and so delicious. I've absolutely loved the pancit and bisteg and adobo. Hands down, you must try it!

If you're Filipino or have been to the Philippines or familiar with Filipino cuisine, then Isla is a great place to indulge your taste buds with dishes that would be familiar to you. There's a tremendous amount of effort and dedication that the restaurant takes in order to make sure that the dishes are honest, authentic and even elevated to exceed your expectations. My friends and I had the kare kare, the grilled liempo and the pancit palabok. All were exceptional and what I would recommend to newbies.

We really enjoyed the food here. The only downside is there were only 2 of us and there were so many dishes we wanted to order! The food we ordered was delicious. Garlic fried rice, crispy pata, chicken tinola, and fried bangus were all delicious. The sauces in the side were key to the flavor too. We had lots of leftovers too. The servers were friendly and accommodating to my wife's allergies. It's kind of a loud place since there so many of us Filipinos there but it does make it lively! There's a bell to ring at the exit if you leave satisfied. Needless to say there was a lot of bell ringing!

I heard that this restaurant serves food in Kapampangan style. They serve really authentic Filipino food and the atmosphere of the place matches how society looks like in the Philippines. It is filled with huge, wide tables with a lot of seats. I came here, because of my friend mom’s birthday and got to say that the food is really good here. I think I came here before, but it’s probably been a while. I’m quite surprised how huge one of the dish is since it’s filled with Filipino food with rice. Too much food we got and feel like I need to go to the bathroom later haha It’s a really good place for hosting parties and having a party for at least 6 people due to the size of the tables.

Ooh you better come here early! This place gets packed because the food here is. If you're into authentic Filipino food and a lively vibe, this is the spot. I got the crispy binagoongan, sizzling Bangus Sisig, ginataan green beans & kalabasa, and their famous isla pork bbq! My favorite item was the bbq pork skewers, I can eat that every day and never get tired of it. The marinade and flavor was spot on. I love the ginataan green beans as it helped balance the grease and the salt from the other food. My go do vegetable dish. The Bangus has so much flavor 🥰 I love seeing it sizzling on the plate as it gets to our table. Super fresh and delicious, and the binagoongan was what snacks on throughout my time and when I had it as leftover. Something about the crispy bits and pork made it so delicious. Hope y’all try em out!

Thus place was awesome. The food was good and the staff was very polite and attentive. My wife had been craving a taste of home and I must say I found a gem in this establishment. Food portions were great for sharing and the restaurant was nice and clean. Large open concept that has beautiful pictures of one of the most beautiful places on God's green earth ...the Philippines. Parking is not a problem as the lot is nice and big. The halo halo was delicious and filling. Make sure to ring the bell after eating and let them know it was a great meal...

Food was great. Menu had a huge selection. I wasn't impressed with their desserts. The halo-halo was served in a plastic cup. 12/06/25

Came for the first time with a friend that has been here before. He ordered everything for us since I didn’t know what to order. Everything that we had was pretty good. Some food were a little salty and fatty but that’s okay. They also play loud music so you just have to speak up a little more when talking to everyone. It’s also pricy. Definitely want to go back on a more chill time.

This was our first time dining at this restaurant. They were undergoing some construction during our visit, but that didn’t take away too much from the experience. The food overall was good—though the pork BBQ was a bit overcooked and charred for our taste. On the bright side, the halo-halo was excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal. We’re looking forward to coming back once the renovations are complete to try more dishes!

I've tried all of the Filipino restaurants within a 30 mile radius, and I do have to say that Isla holds it's own. From the atmosphere, service, flat screens, round tables, it's legit! Line-up: *Pancit Palabuk - 4 Stars *Chicken Adobo Silog - 4 Stars *Litsun Kawali - 4 Stars *Beef Brisket Bistek- 4 Stars *Lumpiang Shanghai - 4 Stars I'll admit that on my first visit, service was just okay, as no one ever checked on us. However on my second visit, Nelson took care of us. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and very attentive. In a nutshell, all of the dishes I tried felt like it came straight out of my auntie Mila's kitchen! Just an authentic touch of flavors. Yes, some of the dishes could use a little more protein, but they spare no expense when it comes to flavor! I give them a solid 4 Stars, with potentially the best atmosphere in the Bay! Swing by and ring that bell on the way out! :)

I visited Isla for dinner on a weekend with 4 other friends. The place was quiet busy but we had a reservation so we got seated once our whole party was there. We opted for a family style feast and everything we tried was delicious including the sauces that they provided. The one thing that was really annoying and ruined the whole experience was the loud live music. The music was so loud that we couldn't hear each other. Thankfully it happend towards the end of our meal because I was ready to leave. That loud music was unbearable. The service was fine and our food came out really fast.

This branch in Newark has been renovated—it’s definitely bigger and feels more open now, but honestly, I think I preferred the old layout. It had a cozier vibe. The food is still the same, with a few added to the menu and yes, noticeably more expensive. I ordered my favorite Adobong Pusit, along with Fried Tofu, Lechon Kawali, and Veggie Kare-Kare. We also had Halo-Halo, which was refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness—not too sweet like some places.

This was a fun trip! Packed with locals but there’s a lot of seating so no wait for a table for Saturday lunch. It’s an expansive menu - we went with two of the dishes listed under specialties. The sisig was flavorful but pretty heavy and oily - the good thing is it comes with a ton of rice which helps to balance things out. The pork belly dish we got was also flavorful and had a lot of veggies where the sisig did not. Next time we come I want to try the chicken adobo. Service was fast and nice.

I tried their tinolang manok for take home. The chicken was uncooked, it was still bloody. I did saute the chicken again. I can’t feed my family with uncook poultry meat!

We went last Friday night for Isla's new night food market in Newark, CA. Upon arriving, we went straight to the outdoor area. It's street food style. The set up was missing food labels. Not all Filipinos know the kind of street foods served. The pricing sign was not visible and it was a small sign. I was surprised how expensive it was. We got a dozen kwek-kwek, dozen fishballs, dozen kikiam, 1 hotdogs stick and 4 more sticks of other street food (forgot what they are called. The street food on a stick did not have a sign on how much it cost. We had to ask where they had the sauces and utensils as they were tucked away in a corner. For 3 ppl, we paid a total for $103 for 4 those mentioned above plus 3 pineapple drinks. Overall a disappointing experience.

Friendly Staff but wait to order lunch took a little while. Sisig pork was ok, bbq pork my husband enjoyed but the food we ordered to go were a waste of my hard earned money. The worst sour soup/sinigang bangus I have ever had in my entire life and for $27.98 price, the veggies used were not good (green beans not long beans, etc). Extremely sour and salty...yuck!!! And barely any milk fish in it for $27.98. My daughters and grandson won't even touch it and I tried bcuz I don't like wasting food/$$, my throat and stomach felt messed up. The pork & bangus sisig I ordered to go, didn't taste good with fresh purple onions and the meat/bangus didn't taste good either. To not waste it, recooked it and drained all the fat/grease out for me to be able to eat them. Extremely disappointing and this place is definitely not a FILIPINO RESTAURANT. It is to a "SCAM" so I urged people to not waste your money on their sinigang bangus and pork&bangus sisig. Go to the San Mateo location as it seems, they are more authentic but this location for the sour soup boneless milk fish & pork sisig but DO NOT order their kare kare, not good at all.
