This seafood restaurant has closed down, and I haven't been here for over two years. It has a new owner and has been converted into a brunch place. It's still very popular. I ordered their signature dish and a dessert.
A charming neighborhood cafe with diverse menu of yummy eats. There is something for everyone. The staff is warm and friendly. If you are in the area, this is a must try place. A lot of people like breakfast all day places. I actually don't care for most breakfast items. This restaurant serves both breakfast and lunch all day which was perfect for me.
Out for a Sunday morning motorcycle ride, stopped here for coffee and pastries. The latte was better than expected, the iced caramel latte was topped with a dollop of heavenly cream, the croissants filled with what ever we were missing. Our waitress, Laura, was the best of all. Kind, attentive and so personable. We'll be back!
Our experience at Mari Vees was exceptional. As a party of four, we were seated promptly upon arrival, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere immediately stood out. The owner’s friendly and engaging demeanor made us feel right at home. The food was outstanding, with every dish bursting with flavor. The pancakes were absolutely delightful—fluffy, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. The loco moco was another standout, with its rich, savory gravy elevating the dish. We also enjoyed the tuna melt and omelet, both of which were expertly prepared and full of flavor. Overall, Mari Vees delivered on every level, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return whenever we’re in the area. It’s a place that truly understands great food and genuine hospitality.
Excellent breakfast. the pancakes were so delicious and the syrup was super good.
Came to the soft opening over the weekend and so glad I did. My chilaquiles were so good! Perfect amount of sauce on them and the micro greens were a great touch. My husband got pancakes and the American breakfast. I tried the bacon and it was some of the best bacon I've ever had! Also tried the hash-browns and again, some of the best hashbrowns l've had. They are thinly sliced and crisped to perfection. We ordered iced coffees and they were good. They use caffe luxxe brand coffee which has a great taste. I can't wait to come back here! This would be the perfect place to stop at on your way to the Huntington Library or the Arboretum.
As out of towners, we always prefer to support locally owned businesses, and Mari Vees did not disappoint! 10 AM was the perfect time to visit in between the breakfast and brunch rushes. It's hard to believe they're still in the soft launch phase of opening. While we won't be here to experience it, they'll be releasing their full menu soon. For now, their selection of elevated classics are delightful! Everyone pitches in to take care of the diners, and even the owner is out taking orders and participating. We're sure this will become a neighborgood favorite, and we can't wait to come back and see how they've grown the next time we're in town!
Chilaquiles were good and asked for spicy salsa on the side. Cappuccino with a hint of cinnamon powder added.
We were thoroughly impressed with Mari Vee, its comfortable dining space. Our waiter Fabian was friendly and helpful. It was our first time and won’t be our last . The presentation was everything. the portions were very good. Can’t wait to try everything on the menu.

I was looking for a brunch spot around the area and Mari Vees popped up on my search. Timing worked out and there wasn't a long wait to be seated, so here we go! There's around 10ish tables for seating inside, both 2-top and 4-top ones, and they can combine tables if you have a bigger group. We ordered the blueberry pancakes ($19), Mari Vees omelet ($19), coffee ($4), and cappuccino ($5.75). Both items might seem pricey, but you get quality, fresh brunch dishes, so it was worth it. The pancakes were light and fluffy, not dense at all. The blueberry topping has a bit of a tang that pairs well with their homemade maple syrup. Maple syrup is unlike any I've had -- not your usual thick, super sweet syrup at all! The omelet has some ingredients I usually don't expect in an omelet like asparagus and sun-dried tomatoes, leading me to wonder how I've been missing out all these years! Service was superb! Everyone was friendly and personable to talk to. BF's coffee was never empty: they were on top of the refills! They're still in their soft opening phase and welcome any feedback about their menu and service to help craft the final lineup and make improvements on the overall dining experience. Had a great time here for Sunday brunch! Parking is pretty easy, with plenty of spots on Huntington. Only drawback is trying to back out of your spot when leaving.
As I write this review, I’m still eating my Chilaquiles. I couldn’t wait. They are AWESOME!! Real chile sauce used. Guys please try the chilaquiles. Not too spicy but just right. My husband ordered the country fried steak and also really good. My kids got waffles and kids menu and they will substitute the potatoes to fries. The dishes are kid approved. The ambiance is friendly. Although I wish I had a little music in the background but other than that the food guys…..awesome. I’m glad I live near by. I’ll be coming again and again and again.
This place and never went in until a couple days ago and I got the rancheros sunny side up. The flavors were really good. I thought it was a little bit too white sauce the tortillas all the flavor was delicious. The staff was exceptionally attentive and I was just taking out. They gave me a lot of attention, which is pretty nice. Don’t see that anymore. We got a cup of coffee, which is really good and took it home far away for breakfastmaybe share with your friends.
We came in on a raining day. Anthony, Nancy and Victor were the nicest staff who served us. The drinks pumpkin latte with almond milk with less sweetener were perfect! The wild blueberry pancake was phenomenal. The chicken tortilla soup was so good especially on a rainy cold day.
I had such a fantastic experience! Mari Vee was absolutely amazing — the servers were courteous, attentive, and went above and beyond to make everything perfect. The food was so good, fresh, and flavorful — every bite hit the spot. And the owner, Roger, was the highlight of the visit! He was so friendly, fun, and genuinely funny — he made the whole experience even more enjoyable. You can really tell that they care about their customers and love what they do. I can’t recommend them enough — I’ll definitely be going back.

I like this place a lot; it’s a brunch place that gets relatively busy without ridiculous wait times, unlike like some places in Pasadena. Parking is easy with marked parking spots outside the restaurant. The chilaquiles are a standout and are worth the price. Eating out is expensive these days and while the prices are still high, I think the reasonable wait, service, food, and overall portion sizes make eating out more enjoyable than not.
Some of the best fish tacos I’ve ever had! Well seasoned and full of flavor. My boyfriend said the pancakes were excellent as well. It’s a little loud in the dining area (you can hear noise from the kitchen) and the iced latte is basically a glass of milk, but overall it was a pleasant dining experience and we will definitely be back for the food.

I went to this placed yesterday for the first time,I read some of the reviews so I decided to give it a try,it was pretty easy to find street parking.but the atmosphere it’s not too welcoming.there’s not much decoration inside the place and there’s a limit of 1 hour for seating.I got a waffle with eggs and bacon and husband got chilaquiles with beef ($6 more) and a coffee.theres was nothing outstanding with my plate and the eggs were bland with no taste/salt.the thing I did liked was their homemade maple syrup.coffee was had a generic taste and husbands chilaquiles were not good either.the sauce had no flavor at all and it was just tomato sauce poured over tortilla chips, the beef was also not good it was too chewy and flavorless his coffee had a cute design on top which made it look appealing to the eye but also very generic taste.will probably not be coming back.but hey everyone has different taste/likings maybe what didn’t work for me might be great for others 🤷🏻♀️

We wanted to get Sunday brunch, and chose to stop by. Street parking only, but it was not difficult to find parking. Both indoor and outdoor seats were available. We put our name on the sign-in paper at the front, and were being seated shortly after. Minimum and clean decoration, which made me feel comfortable. Service was fast. We ordered a matcha latte, tuna melt panini, and chilaquiles with beef (+$6). Matcha latter was a bit too sweet, but still have a strong taste of matcha. Chilaquiles was a disappointment! It was tasteless and dry. The egg was not running, and tasted like rubber. Beef is chopped into tiny side that is closed to grand beef. The beef was chewy and tasteless. The tuna melt was decent, and the fries that came with it was very good! The fries was the best in this meal (2 stars for the fries). Not worth to add $6 beef for chilaquiles. Price is a bit on the pricey side. Will probably not stop by again.

I ordered the club sandwich. It had honey ham which I wasn't expecting. I wouldn't have ordered it if it was mentioned on the menu. The bread was toasted to the point it was hard and dry. The cheese....it was dry and crumbly. It broke apart so easy. The edges were dark like too much air got to it. It just wasn't good. I am a huge pancake fan (twoheys, Joan's on 3rd, Jack n Joe's, dupars, pantry). The pancakes came out hot and fluffy yet they were the oddest tasting pancakes I ever had. It tasted like a boiled omelette. I cannot figure out how to properly describe it but they were dense, not fluffy but looked fluffy, had no "pancake" flavor but rather tasted like boiled scrambled egg. I took one bite and thought I was tripping. I took a second bite and I realized I wasn't. The service was slow. We asked for water and the woman walked by. We asked again and she said "no one brought you water." My fries came out a bit hot and cold. We didn't finish our meals. We called it a loss and got smoothies instead. Also, they only have maple butter and maple syrup. No regular syrup.

On Sunday 1/28/25, I came for the first time ever to share a meal with a friend. At the start (before getting seated) staff was very friendly. It all turned poorly once we were seated. Here’s everything that went wrong: 1) our original server (who was nice) took our initial order and then just disappeared? Like did he go on break and if so why didn’t he tell us? We were stuck with a new rude waiter who didn’t introduce himself and for some reason wore sunglasses inside the whole time he serviced us which was weird. He also had 2 piercings on the back of his neck. 2) we had each ordered a matcha but my friend did almond milk plus banana syrup because she can’t have dairy. When our drinks came out with a foam on top, We looked back at the menu because we didn’t see that it said “cold foam” or anything just saw the flavoring so assumed it was syrup? When we requested a new drink, the sunglasses server almost seemed annoyed by the request. Is it just me or if someone orders oat milk wouldn’t you tell them dairy was in the flavoring foam? seems like common server sense and thats what they do at major coffee shops. He seemed annoyed we didn’t know and took almost 10 minutes to bring a new one out. We had to follow up on it, I believe they had forgotten or didn’t want to make it. 3) it was disorganized service. At the start, we asked for 2 waters. Only got brought 1 and then 3 separate waiters tried to bring us an extra water. 4) every ask seemed like SUCH A BIG REQUEST! At one point t I needed napkins (because I was only brought one) but the sunglasses server had such an annoyed energy I suffered with my one tattered napkin all of service. We had asked for boxes, a to-go cup, and the check. He only brought the boxes and when we said “oh and a to-go cup too please” he just turned around without acknowledging us. We were left wondering if he even heard us until he brought back just cup. When we said “check too please” he just left again. We sat there for almost another 10 minutes until an older guy (I assume management) came and said “he still didnt bring you your check?” Which he was confused by because all staff walk around with machines to easily print out checks. Guess indoor- sunglasses, neck piercing guy didn’t feel like doing it for us. Service overall was slow, disorganized, and made us feel very unwelcomed. my chilaquiles were mid. Our server made us feel like two dumb girls and not to return. I left a $5 tip but this experience has now given me the confidence to leave a $0 tip next time I have service this poor. Because why am I gonna give some random rude man $5 for his crappy attitude? I will not return and will share my experience with anyone who tries to recommend this place to me again. Thanks for giving me the newfound confidence to leave inadequate servers $0 tip in the future. Only good thing about this experience was the Oreo matcha latte which was delicious but I guess I’ll go to coffee bean for that since I get basic good customer service there.

I visited Mari Vees recently with a friend and the service was beyond disappointing. When we got there we were sat almost immediately, but after that it was unbelievably slow. After sitting for about 10 minutes, somebody finally took our drink order. We ordered one water and one iced coffee. We waited 50 MINUTES for our drinks. No I am not over exaggerating. During this time we asked numerous people for an update on our drinks to which we were disregarded. When our drinks came, the water was lukewarm and the iced coffee tasted burnt. Our food came out around 20 minutes later and it was alright, nothing too special. We ended up spending an hour and a half in the restaurant. Would not come back.
