Torotea is a popular tea shop known for its unique and strong tea flavors and unique toppings like tapioca mochi. The Popcorn and Ember milk teas are favorites. Be prepared for lines, especially at the San Marino location, but online ordering can save time.

My first visit to Torotea and had a pleasant experience. I was always curious about this place since I would often pass by Torotea on the weekends and there was always a long line. I’m glad I finally gave this place a try because I will definitely be coming back. I got the mulberry oolong with osmanthus jelly and I was very impressed. I got perfect ice and perfect sweet, but the drink wasn’t too sweet compared to the other drinks that my friends got. The tea itself has a very mellow taste but had a nice, slight bitter taste that goes perfectly with the sweet osmanthus jelly. I love a good bitter and sweet combo when it comes to tea/drinks and this drink executed it perfectly. The jelly itself has a very nice texture, it’s like agar boba but much more softer, like it soaked more liquid(?). Such a unique and perfect texture, it’s such a fun drink! I see why this place is so popular. I’m looking forward to the other drinks for sure, will be coming back!!
The tea is exceptional just like the Diamond Bar location. I personally like the Jasmine Oolong and Misty Oolong at less sweet, but all of the drinks are so delicious. They nailed the esthetic again as well. It’s now open. Come check it out!
The Misty Oolong Milk tea was PERFECT! The oolong tea had a slight bitter note that wasn’t too sweet. The large rectangular tapiochi was just the right softness that it slurped up the straw easily and had a texture like custard. Overall delicious and it spoiled my tastebuds! There was no seating though in the cramped space! Way too many people. So we had to take it to go. Nice though that they serve cool refreshing complimentary lemon water while you stand in the hot sun waiting to order.
Torotea is my favorite tea and milk tea place. Although this location is far from me, I’m glad they opened in the SGV area. They have the best teas and unique milk teas. Their drinks are perfectly balanced in terms of sweetness and ice levels, unlike other places where I need to adjust them. The aromas of their tea are simply top-notch. They also have an exclusive drink here that the Diamond Bar location doesn’t have, so I’ll probably be coming here even with the drive.
First sip and I WAS SOLD!! So so good <3, mind-blown!! The line was bit long but moved speedily. But if you patience level was at the bottom low, surely pre-order online. There’s less than a dollar service fee, but I guessed worth paying as it saved your time from standing in the line. I got one of their specialty Dalgona Cloud Top Koan-Im Oolong Latte, which I was extremely happy about. Their Koan Im Oolong tea was precisely serving the kind of milk tea I was fond of, with bold tea flavor, nutty and roasty hints. I wasn’t sure if you could customize the sweetness and ice level, but the default one I had was just right. The cloud top was slightly too thick for my preference but still pretty nice as it gave that uniquely pleasing combination of sweet and salty taste. They also added dalgona as ‘cherry on top’, which played another sweetener role here.
Same vibes and drinks as the Diamond Bar Location. One of my favorite tea spots and is always worth it even with a wait. I waited around 30 mins to get in on soft opening weekend but the lines will slowly die down the longer it is open :)
Love love love toro tea. Their teas are so unique with nice strong tea flavors and their unique toppings of tapioca mochi instead of regular boba brings specialty! YUMALICIOUS. I really enjoy the Popcorn milk tea and the Ember milk tea. Their seasonal drinks are always pretty unique as well. The service is also really nice and all the workers seem like they genuinely enjoy working there!
Came to Toro Tea right when they opened at 11am and there was already a line, which is always a good sign. My server Melanie was super friendly and recommended the popcorn milk tea with brown sugar tapioca and Himalayan sea salted cloud at the perfect sweet level. The drink was amazing—definitely one of the best I’ve had. I can’t wait to come back and try more from the menu. Service was fast and the whole team was welcoming. The ambiance is really unique and feels like you’ve stepped into a different world, which makes the experience even better. Parking can be a bit tricky, but it’s worth it once you’re inside.
so so good — a super deep and unique flavor unlike any other shop I’ve been to! super cute inside too!
Ordered one of their creative drinks and it did not disappoint. There was a line outside but I didn’t wait long on a Sunday. They provide samples to the Ember Milk tea and it was creamy. So I ordered it with barley jelly (I think). I would give this spot 10/10. Service was efficient and friendly service. There isn’t much seating and you had to wait behind designated lines so you won’t over crowd the counter or walking areas.

I'm not usually the biggest jelly fan, and I also found out this place doesn't really have any boba, but I thought I would give it a shot anyway because I heard so many good things about it. You won't regret it! I had the best jelly I've ever had in a milk tea! I already forgot the name but it's the most popular one and the texture was just beautiful. It didn't taste like lychee jelly where it's like candy, this had much more texture to it and was firmer and chewier. I'm going back here, paying my $7, just to get more jelly!

Went here for the first time. Seems to be pretty popular. Had to wait in line like we were trying to get into a club. I tried the most popular drink, the popcorn with brown sugar. Was pretty good. Had tapioca jelly in it. Different, never had that before. Really upscale place. Whole mood inside while you wait.
There's always a super long wait at the Diamond Bar location, so I was excited to hear that a Toro Tea opened near me in San Marino. The line was definitely shorter (but we still had to wait outside) and the vibes inside are very similar. There's an exclusive drink they make at this location with the proceeds going to the CA Fire Foundation, which is pretty cool. I got the barley tea with barley jelly and a cassia milk tea with brown sugar tapiochi. Both drinks were great! Mild tea flavor but the jelly and tapiochi was very unique and chewy. Fun refreshing drinks on a hot day.

To tea or not to tea is the question. :D That being said let’s delve into my review. Torotea is a cute lil teahouse with unique handcrafted teas and cubed toppings. They are nestled in the heart of my favorite classy neighborhood San Marino. It was by mere chance that I stumbled upon this tea house while driving on Huntington avenue. I made a quick stop and parked on the side street. It seemed very popular among young Asian high-schoolers. I was warmly greeted and perused their menu projected on the wall by a projector. After minutes of deliberation, I opted to go for a Calamansi Oolong Tea x toppings. I thought it was uniquely refreshing with subtle lime taste. Interior layout was minimalist and modern. Atmosphere was vibrant. Music was a bit loud to have a convo unless you’re used to shouting. lol. Prices seemed pricey. But the teas quality and cute cups may justify it. Staff were nice and professional. Overall, I had a nice experience and enjoyed an iced calamansi oolong tea. I shall recommend this tea house.
I got the Jasmine Oolong Milk Tea and Osmanthus Jelly as the topping and it was soo good. Slightly less fragrant than Chagee, but they make up for it with the topping. Really good and I'd come back. The manager though could be friendlier.

I love their Koan-Im tea and was thrilled to see they’ve opened a new shop so much closer to me than the Diamond Bar location! They’re still in their soft opening but word is out so the lines get long even before they open - be prepared! My rating has more to do with an issue I experienced during my visit (see below) than the quality of their products. I almost always get their Koan-Im Oolong Milktea with creme brulee top - it’s been my favorite of all I’ve tried. The Koan-Im oolong has a deep roasted flavor that goes well with the toasted creme brulee topping - and it’s really nice with the black tea tapiochi. Another one I enjoy is the Popcorn Milktea with the vanilla cloud top - and it pairs well with the recommended brown sugar tapiochi. It does have hints of buttery popcorn flavor in it and is pretty sweet in its own right already. You can adjust your sweetness and ice levels here. The drinks come standard as “perfect sweet” but I always ask for “less sweet” and it’s excellent. I almost never drink sweet drinks so the “perfect sweet” level is too much for me - especially if you’re adding the cloud tops and tapiochi. They have a unique and interesting variety of teas and tapiochi flavors to choose from. Their tapiochi is a tapioca mochi type of “chewie” - they don’t sell your standard boba here - and I think their tapiochi is superior. It has a smooth texture with mellow flavors and seems much more natural. Their prices are quite high for Milktea drinks - but the quality is elevated and blends are unique. I can see why some other reviewers find them a little pretentious and I think it depends on the staff you get on your visit - some are really warm and friendly and some are more stern and less helpful. And be prepared to wait - I arrived 10 mins before they opened and the line was already 10 people deep. It took me over 30 mins to get my two drinks. The line was huge by the time I left. And while this shop is cozy with a nice, minimalist aesthetic, it’s not somewhere you hang out and drink your tea. It’s narrow with very little seating - definitely more of a grab-and-go place. One issue I had on my visit and the main reason for my decreased rating - a group of four people from the dentist office next door came over for tea and CUT THE LINE! They just walked right in to order. When another customer informed them that there’s a line, one of the group said “we own the building”. Ok??? And??? Just because you own the building doesn’t mean you can just cut in front of everyone?? If it was just one person cutting in line I wouldn’t be as upset but IT WAS FOUR PEOPLE - made it so much worse - extremely entitled, arrogant, and absolutely inconsiderate. Honestly I’m still mad about it and definitely found it off-putting enough to make me hesitant to return. I love the tea and am willing to put up with long waits occasionally- but if the area building-owners can just take all their friends and cut the line in front of all us common peasants, then it’s not worth it for me.
We ordered the Misty Oolong tea with Black Tea Tapimochi, Jasmine Oolong tea with Black Tea Tapimochi, and the Misty Oolong milk tea with brown sugar tapimochi. There was a line outside to order and we waited around 10 minutes to get inside. They do have some wated outside for you to drink while waiting though. They have some bench seating inside but not any tables. The drinks were ready in around 5 minutes so not too bad. I liked the tea and the tapimochi is unique and not too chewy and better than boba. However, the cup is quite small for this price and could get this tea quality at other places for the same price and bigger cup. A good place to try if you are interested in their tapimochi topping.
Decent tea but way over price, 9 dollars for a boba is ridiculous. Design of the store is pretty nice and clean, but also kind of weird, right after the counter it’s a long hallway with a couple chairs which make it hard to stand or sit

Unique teas. Quality is inconsistent. Some days the sugar will be missing or the jellies might be a little old with a weird texture. But when tea and jellies are fresh, the combination is great! The interior is lovely and beautiful designed.

Can you believe a 500ml milk tea is $7.20? And they didn’t even fill the cup! I ordered the popcorn milk tea and told the cashier very clearly NO ICE!! Because my stomach is hurting!! But they still gave me a cold one! They make drink names looking so fancy — I couldn’t even tell what they were, which actually made me want to try one. I ordered the most popular one, the Popcorn Milk Tea. Honestly, it was pretty mediocre. I don’t get why it has so many good reviews. Won’t be back again.

I came in wanting to order a Popcorn Milk Tea without mochi, but was told that the owner doesn’t allow any changes to signature drinks. I found this really disappointing. I physically can’t drink boba with toppings and just wanted the tea on its own — nothing complicated. For a shop that charges premium prices, there should be more flexibility and care for customers’ needs. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for even the slightest customization.
