First time visit, and the food was delicious. Prices were reasonable and service was friendly. Let us not forget the banna bread. The best I ever had
Best breakfast i’ve had. Very high quality of food. You can taste the care and effort they put into preparing the food from scratch. Great service. Just an overall 5/5
Great service and location. The food was incredible. We had their fluffy pancakes, biscuits & gravy and eggs. The flavor is here!
Went to this cafe while in town and let me tell you the experience was awesome. The food was very well made, tasty, very affordable. The service is what I really appreciate, the servers are on point and the lady running the front was always working hard and taking care of the guest. Just exceptional service. Great job team, if I’m in town again I will be coming back.
Good food, great breakfast and quick service.
Super fast service, very on top of refills. Food was fantastic, loved the huevos rancheros.
Food is good Service is fast Staff were friendly
Hidden spot! Yet ALWAYS busy! It's definitely a great location to go eat to. The waiters are all friendly and attentive.
Our waitress Luz was friendly and attentive to our needs! All the staff was great asking about our water and coffee refills! We have lived in Santa Ana all our lives and never tried this cafe until today! We will be back!! Thank you Cowgirls Cafe!!
Everything about this place is great..first time here a few days ago and I must say I was presently surprised. service, food, coffee and prices wher awesome. Great tasting food, cheap prices and your plate is a treat.
Old Skool American Diner with Delicious Food & Friendly Service.
The service here is phenomenal. Kind, courteous, polite and excellent service. Fabian served us from the moment we entered until the moment we left. When returning to Cali we will definitely visit again. Signed From the Sunshine State
My go to place for weekend breakfast, brunch, lunch Machado, Menudo, Chili Size!!!
This place was recommended to us to to eat by Zavala Book repair as I am not from this area. So glad we came here, our family loves these diner gems. Paola (I hope I have her name right) was very sweet and made the experience all the better. I look forward to coming back soon. God bless these businesses, and may the Lord lift them all up in Jesus Christ's Name Amen
Very busy place but you never have to wait they have the best food so hand cooked and it's all awesome chile verde omelette is the best
Amazing. This crew works their butts off and there’s always a line out the door. Yet, we only waited about 20 minutes for our table. They turn tables over so quickly. Food comes fast but there is NO sacrifice in quality! The food was delicious. The ONLY advice I have is to come in parties of 4 or less. There are only a few tables that hold 5+ people so the wait will be longer. But it’s so worth it. We visit this place every time we come to California and we will continue to do so!
Was visiting the area and stopped by here for breakfast with the kids. This place did not disappoint. Food was excellent and the kids enjoyed it (Win right there). The service was top tier and friendly. Would definitely recommend to others.
Lovely little spot. My wife and I were looking for a restaurant near the Honda dealer and are glad we stopped in. Food is great, team members are super friendly, and food is tasty. You get solid value for the money and the atmosphere is cute, too. Check it out. 🤠
It was crowded for a good reason! Great service, good food and clean! I will definitely be coming back
Wonder breakfast. The waiter Jose was great. So attentive. The food came out fast and was delicious. The biscuits were soft and the gravy was excellent. And. Don't forget the banana bread.
Love this place, the food is fresh and the staff is super quick getting food out and attentive to what you need. I recommend going in the morning because it gets packed especially in weekends after 10AM
We visited Cowgirls cafe often while we lived in california. The service was fast and impeccable. The quality of the food surpassed our expectations every time. Great diner coffee, pancakes are amazing and their veggie Benedict had the most perfectly poached eggs-every time without fail! The diner to visit in OC. They have merch too. We miss you Cowgirls cafe!
Food and service are great. The value is really good too. What I really noticed though is the throwback style of welcoming and thanking customers that just doesn’t exist today.
Great food, friendly staff, cool decor, recommended!
Off the chart diet-buster fusion of American and Mexican country breakfast. Worth the 10 minute drive from Newport. Service top notch. This photo is the Louisiana hot link omelette and country potatoes, after I've taken a few bites. Robust coffee, butter on the toast, and vegetables that didn't come out of the freezer.
Came on a Saturday around noon. We were seated right away and the service was fast! Clean bathrooms too.
Finally tried this place and we'll be back again!! Looking forward to trying different plates. Blueberry pancakes were delicious!!! Everyone in our party loved their food.
This cafe is impressive on the inside has a very relaxing type vibe. The one thing I did notice was the license plate wall as soon as you walk into inside. Got to say the country fried steak and the scrambled eggs was very good. 😋
We're two cowgirls from Texas with a cowdad and was looking for somewhere that didn't exist in Texas so we found this place. We got there at before dawn and they opened early for us! The cowgirl omelet and hash browns are so good I was like a tick on an armadillo. I highly recommend this place to all ages. The pancakes are delicious and we usually don't like omelets but this one, so amazing. The coffee was endless for my dad. The cup was constantly full. Like I'm a werewolf looking in the sky. You should come here!
10/10 amazing hidden breakfast spot! The food was fantastic and home made. The breakfast croissant, to die for. The waffles, to die for. The home fries, excellent. Definitely going back!
Showed up around 12:30 as a single and waited about 5 minutes to be seated at the small table by the register. Several larger parties got seated in the next few minutes and the place was full and busy. Got some personal attention right away from the hostess, who asked whether I had been here before? I had not, how I found the place? googled breakfast near me, and what I wanted to drink? Coffee black, please. She left the menu from which I ordered the Rodeo, 3 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 sausage and my choice of French Toast out of 3 selections. The other are biscuit and gravy or pancakes. The plate arrived after a short wait and it was hot, fresh and delicious. Had as much coffee as I could stand plus a great glass of OJ. Very nice and filling.
The staff are all so kind and friendly which gives it a family vibe. Food is typical Cafe style, decent portions and delicious!
I had driven by this place many times and finally visited with my wife. The breakfast menu offers a variety of options and the food taste great. The staff is very attentive and cordial. I stopped by a second time and I opted for takeout, I recommend ordering the breakfast burrito with hash browns.
Very nice restaurant with a very friendly staff. I asked locals where the best restaurant was in the area and this is the place that I was referred to. It is homey, a bit dated but the friendly vibe from the employees easily makes this a good experience. By: cmilton111 Google Guide 6.24.2018
This is the kind of diner you can see in the movies. I had breakfast there and it was very, very taste. I took some egg burito wrap in tortilla and it was very delicious. The size of the portion was very generous. This is definitely one of the places I would like to come back and eat again.
YUMMMMMMY!! I can’t say enough good things about Cowgirls Cafe! Staff is super friendly & helpful. Food came out so quickly it was surprising. The food itself was so delicious that I’m already planning my next visit! Thank you Cowgirls Cafe!!
A great old school cafe with good classic food and friendly service! There aren’t many diners left with table service like this!
The food here is amazing, with great portions. Service could have been a bit better but maybe the section our waitress had was really busy. Overall everything is good. I ordered the Cowgirl skillet.. 10/10
This is my new favorite breakfast spot. The portions are huge and everything was tasty. The onion rings were my favorite 😍
I admit I had expectations that were immediately dispelled upon entering. The greeter & servers were extremely friendly and attentive. The potatoes I ordered were a little on the cold side but everything else was prepared the way I requested. I actually felt comfortable asking them to take the plate to rewarm it but I enjoyed it as it was. They accepted Apple Pay & the price was reasonable.
Excellent food! Exceptional value. Breakfast is one of the best we have had in Southern CA. If you like really crisp bacon, they know how to make it. Could use updating of the seating.
Upgraded to 5 stars after 4 visits. Stopped in for breakfast. Had the chicken fried steak and eggs. $16. Cooked to order generous portions. Potatoes o Brian . So delish. Great service. 3rd visit I had the rodeo breakfast w/pancakes 🥞. 3 eggs -4 pieces bacon. $15. Corned beef with hash browns delicious I tried the huevos rancheros and it's delicious. Homemade rancheros sauce!
My family has been coming here for 20 years. Delicious food, super homey feel, cutest western decor, and the BEST PANCAKES in the world. 10 out of 10. If you’re a hater, don’t come to my favorite breakfast place, they only deserve good vibes here. Feels like eating at grandmas.
So let me tell you a little bit about this Cafe. I was in the mood for steak and eggs so I googled steak and eggs near me, cowgirls Cafe popped up and I decided to give it a shot. I ordered the ribeye and eggs breakfast. I cannot believe how delicious the meal was!! I definitely wasn’t expecting it to be so amazing! One of the best steak and eggs I’ve ever had! I will definitely be returning to try something else! The meal cost $26 plus a $5 tip.( People need to understand that they should tip on To Go orders because it can sometimes be more work than dining in) Well worth every penny! I work in a restaurant in Tustin and I really enjoyed my whole experience with my first visit to Cowgirls Cafe. Also, I ordered my meal to take out, and the bag even had utensils, salt, pepper, ketchup, and hot sauce and jelly for the toast I didn’t even have to ask! I can’t wait to try there pancakes 😁yummy
One of the best Country Fried Steaks that I’ve ever had. Was visiting the area from West LA and had this diner on my list for quite some time. I had heard only great things so I was excited to check it out. Based on my experience, I can say it really is awesome and worth the trip even if you are not from the area. It’s a true down home, local country diner in Santa Ana. They have a giant menu filled with all sorts of American diner classics and I was really happy to see that they have great service as well. Our server was extremely polite, very helpful, and everything that we ordered came out very fast. There is a large free parking lot attached so parking was super easy and I was able to find a space a few feet from the front door. Inside is also fairly small, but in a cozy way. They did not have any outdoor seating from what I saw, but many different types of indoor seating from booth, to table, to counter. For my first visit, I want to try their Country Fried Steak because I had heard they are famous for it. It was honestly great. The steak was very tender, and not overly fried. Too many places cook it for too long. The breading was also not too thick, so it did not take away from the meaty flavor. It was also a very large sized portion, and the gravy on top was really good, it did not taste like it came from a can. I would say this is a great diner option and I would definitely put on my list to repeat. I would suggest to anyone in the area or to anyone passing through looking for a great classic SoCal diner.
This is a good breakfast diner. I ordered the rodeo with the biscuits and gravy. My husband ordered the short stack. It was the perfect amount of food for the two of us to share. The pancakes were fluffy, piping hot, and delicious. Definitely visit here for the pancakes. We definitely preferred them to the biscuits and gravy. We also had good customer service. This place is worth a visit.
Many options on the menu. Biscuits and gravy is white gravy with pieces of sausage added. Something to get if you go. You can order it in place of your toast. The waffle came with fresh strawberries. Strawberries were sweet and good time to get them since they are in season. Was expecting it to be more decorated on the outside and just some old pictures on the wall with worn in booths but overall the food is the star.
Our first time here, there is no shortage of cowboy pictures and cowgirl decor. This place is busy, but all the people who worked there were super nice and asked if I had been helped already. I placed my order and just took in the ambiance. It's not your basic diner or brunch spot. It had a character of its own. Our to go order was pretty simple today: 1. Country fried steak and eggs with house potatoes and banana bread - Country fried steak was good. Just like you'd expect it to be. House potatoes, the lady who took my order, highly recommended, but potatoes weren't cooked all the way. Banana bread is not something to pass up. 2. County omelette - This was amazing it was hearty and meaty. It had bacon and sausage with chees that had that pull. Hash browns were perfectly cooked, and pancakes were thick and buttery. Overall a great experience, I highly recommend coming early.
Place is great , large portions and affordable and fresh . We stopped after church on Christmas morning and it was busy but not overwhelming. One thing i noticed was my coffee cup was never empty and we never had to flag any server down for questions and mind you it was busy . The server new the menu inside and out was very attentive even went a lil beyond for the kiddos separating these meal which was awesome.
Came from Canada and decided to look up the local breakfast restaurants and this location peeked my interest, more of a cozy, smaller restaurant which always tends to have the best food. Which it did! The food was delicious, eggs were done perfectly to my liking, plenty of home fries, the sausage/bacon was delicious and the pancakes hit the spot! The most impressive thing here was the quality of service, the staff were incredibly kind, fast and courteous, coffee refills were fast and plenty, from the time I ordered , the food must've came within 5 mins, it felt so quick . If I am ever back in California, I'm definitely coming here again
Highlights: Great food , fresh, clean, needs more space Detailed review: nice place to eat breakfast. The orange juice is fresh with a big slice of orange. Not bad portions for the price but my favorite breakfast dish from here is the biscuits and gravy they're not dry or overly salted biscuit was nice a flaky and fresh while the gravy was thick and creamy didn't taste like those store bought biscuits , not like other places do and heat up with the gravy not like that at all. definitely would come back. Dislikes: does need to be bigger if they can make a outdoor dinning where the trees are that would make it better for seating.
The food was very good! Good selection. Staff were nice. Food came sooner than I thought it would. Small parking lot, not much parking and the place was crowded. Had to park in the industrial area in back of the restaurant. Will be back!
Good food and good atmosphere. Good service too.
First of all, our waitress and waitstaff were excellent. The food exceeded our expectations at a very competitive price for similar dining in Orange County. The only reason I gave a 4 instead of a 5, was that there water was terrible and drinking it just ruined my breakfast. Please invest in a system water filtration unit so that all water used in table service is clean tasting. That said, we will probably go back for breakfast this trip, just bringing my own bottled water.
Great little spot. Food was fast and very fresh. Tasted great and lots of options.
Really good diner food. Service is fast & friendly.
I don’t know about the rest of the menu but my country skillet was delicious. Reasonable prices and friendly service really made this place shine for me. Thank God I was a table for 1 because otherwise I would have been waiting a minute for a table to open up. This a very family friendly diner. I would 100% recommend.
Great tasting food, but was a little disappointed by the lack of carnitas in the chilaquiles (see pic). Also, false advertisement on the menu, as the meal did NOT come with tortillas, just the chips that were already part of the dish. Service was ok, but waiters hardly paid attention because they were too busy rushing around. Overall, great quality food, even if not quite as advertised, with ok service. Would definitely eat here again though, because it was delicious!
Food was very underwhelming. It's just food. Nothing we ordered was particularly delicious. The biscuits with the biscuits and gravy had texture of a slice of bread not actual biscuits. The gravy lacked flavor. The potatoes were underseasoned. The omelette I ate was ok but derived any flavor it had from the mushrooms in it. If it wasn't for the salt and salsa provided this could have been too bland to tolerate. The banana bread was dry and also lacked depth of flavor. The service here was incredible. My coffee never ran low and staff were very friendly and attentive. Points for excellent service given. I find the almost 5 star rating misleading. The portions are generous and prices are reasonable.
Cute atmosphere.. good and speedy service but I was not impressed with the quality of food. I ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast for $16 but it's processed chicken fried steak which was very disappointing. My husband got the John Wayne and it was in his works just ok. We won't be back.
Go here only if you have plenty of time. I went for breakfast before 11:30am with a clear idea of what would order to beat the lunchtime rush. I got coffee fairly quickly, but it took 10 min to order. It took what seemed a normal prep time of 20+ minutes for the food to arrive as early lunch arrivals filled all the tables. The server didn’t hear my order right and brought the wrong meat on my "Meat Lovers". It was corrected fairly quickly, but of course, only the meat was warm when it was re-served. I hungrily cleaned my plate. It was another 10 minutes waiting to get the check. Overall, I spent nearly 1½ hours trying to get a quick breakfast. Though the helper came by with fresh coffee often enough, I was reminded of how I felt about a year ago when I first visited. It was an annoyed feeling of invisibility and not being heard. The bottom line is,... Food was really good. Experience?... not so much. I DID get through my email backlog. If I wasn't alone, there was plenty of time for talking.
1/8/2022. Country music loud. One would think they are at a bar. Servers are not too friendly. Coffee slow in refills. Medium rare rib eye arrived well done. Server did not check back to see how we were doing. The chili burger was tasty chilli and burger was medium rare. Not too impressed.
Average breakfast food. Decent country fried steak. Great pancakes, light, fluffy, delicious. Very good biscuits and gravy. The country potatoes are better than the hash browns. The Chilaquiles are great. You must ask for all egg dishes to be cooked soft. Whether its a skillet or an omelette or scrambled eggs or even poached eggs, they will overcook them so much that there's a brown char to them. Unfortunately the corned beef hash is awful. It tastes like it has vinegar in it. The omelette is average with the ingredients baked into the eggs and the eggs are overcooked. Coffee is average. The Cowgirl skillet with poached eggs is pretty good but needs Hollandaise sauce.
I loved the banana bread here. Served hot and with butter, it was almost a cake. I ordered the Machaca. Beans: really good flavor, not refried, but not boring. Rice: excellent flavor. Not the discolored rice a lot of places have. Machaca&Eggs: Bland. The meat was tender and not overcooked, so the menu hit there. But there was just no flavor. Coffee: ok. Nothing special I might come back again, the sides were amazing. Loved the banana bread(basically cake). Wouldn't do Machaca again, but plenty of other options.
The Cowgirls Cafe had average food, service & atmosphere. The Bowl of Chili that I ordered, tasted like it was straigh out of a can of poor quality, bland Chili. It had no flavor or spice to it, and was watery. If there was meat in the Chili, then I could not taste it. I am grateful that my server brought me some Chile flakes, and four package of Saltine Crackers. The Chili flakes, gave it a tiny bit of spice, while the Saltine Crackers took the watery consistency away. The server was able to get me out, in time to catch the Bus. For the $10 price, I should have been served a deep bowl of at least medium quality Chili, where you could taste the meat and not have to use Saltine Crackers to absorb the excess water ...rather than the shallow bowl with a very broad rim, designed to give the customer the impression they are receiving an fair quantity of Chili. The prices were excessive for this type of restaurant, with most menu items costing $17 or more. I was hungry after walking ~8 miles while working thru the night, and so stopped into the Cowgirls Cafe. However, after careful considering all factors, I will not be returning to the Cowgirls Cafe anytime soon. Thank you server for above average service.
Food was over priced and worst than dennys. To add blue berries to one pancake is $5. I won’t go back and I have no idea how they have a 4 star rating.
SO I CAME IN ON 8/31/18 PAID $17. CHANGE FOR A BREAKFAST TO BE HONEST THE WORST $17 I SPENT ON FOOD COULD OF WENT TO IHOP AND BETTER THAN THIS BACON WAS VERY OLD AND THE ONLY THING THAT WAS GOOD WAS THE EGGS SO I BASICALLY PAID $17 FOR EGGS 😂😂😂😂 SERVICE WAS OKAY BUTT WONT COME BACK UNLESS THE OWNER OR MANAGER READS THIS AND GETS ME A MEAL REPLACEMENT FOR THIS BAD EXPERIENCE
Tried the bisquites and gravy. Disappointing at best. Bisquite was stale, gravy had no flavor. Price on website said $3.95 when bill came it was $8.95. Was told it was an old website " not me ". Won't go back
Found this spot reviews weren’t bad so we tried, family must have done the reviews, chicken fried steak was drowned in really thick gravy that taste from the packet, waiters was nice but charged my card twice different amounts this was over a week ago and they still haven’t returned my money! MANY EXCUSES that’s seems like they don’t want to face it was no clitch it was ran twice! I guess I will need to take other routes to get my refund! Shame on the manager making excuses for his employees instead of apologizing for what they did DURING CHRISTMAS and not handling my refund correctly!
Let me start with service was great Fabian went above and beyond. Food decent, restruant was extremely warm no AC. Javier who stated was the owner had horrible customer service and lacked profesionalism. Will not come here again.
