We crave these fusion flavors all the time! We have also introduced lots of visiting family to this place since it's delicious for vegetarians and carnivores alike. It's a great place to bring your pup since they have outdoor seating with water bowls. We highly recommend the vegetarian samosas, the enchiladas (especially the spicy jerk chicken, and the vegetable one with any meat from lamb to ground beef to chicken). The owner and staff are gracious and warm. The made-to-order chai is delightful on a windy Sausalito day. And their special dessert is fun if you still have any appetite left after your meal.
We had an outstanding experience today, highly recommend this place! The owner was so incredibly friendly with my family, and made us feel so special bringing out items based on conversations with us. The food is exceptional, not only tasty but also healthy and good quality with local ingredients - we left feeling full yet not bloated or tired as many Indian restaurants. Truly one of the best experiences. Will be coming back!
Owner is excellent. Very nice gentleman, a true restaurateur. Every single item we had was delicious. The curry was excellent. Atmosphere and service were outstanding.
Fantastic Indian fusion restaurant. Very unique flavors. Made a reservation by phone a couple days ahead for lunch on a Saturday, but it actually wasn't necessary. One of the owners was our server. He asked us what kind of food and proteins we liked and said he will surprise us with the dishes and if we didn't like any, he wouldn't charge us for it. We ended up getting rock shrimp in chutney $15, lentil soup $10, ground lamb enchilada $18, and prawns and vegetables basmati rice plate $30ish. The meal starts off with some complimentary paratha and dip which was unlike any I've tried in the past. Every dish was good. Flavorful, not salty, healthy, quality ingredients. Everything is made to order and can be customized to your liking. Generous portions and reasonable prices. Food came out quickly. Good service. Small sized restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Large free parking lot. Highly recommend
Been here multiple times and the food as well as service has been excellent. Ashok ji, the owner, is warm and welcoming. Always willing to tailor dishes based on preference. They have a wide menu built to cater to vegetarians and vegans. Coming to the food, they have a very interesting Indo-Mexican fusion menu. The Enchiladas are the highlight. They are amazing to the point that I don't enjoy having Enchiladas anywhere else! Would recommend this place to everyone!
There's indoor and outdoor seating depending on your preference and the weather. While there is a menu you can order from, you can also ask the owner to make you a dish based on the protein, veggies, and spice level you would like. A few logistic things: There's a free parking lot, and you can order food to pick up ahead of time.
Incredible place, and the host is quite the character. Friendly and great service. This place has been around awhile and serves fresh farm to table dishes expertly crafted and inspired from around the world that are as unique and creative as they are delicious. If I had the ability to give them a Michelin star I would. Oh and get the dessert.
A unique experience of fusion Indian cuisine. We had the enchiladas, and ravioli. It was a perfect blend of Indian , Mexican and Italian flavors. It was a great dine-in experience thanks to Ashokji. He guided us through the whole menu and helped select the dishes. A definite to go place for those special occasions. A five star experience.
Absolutely loved the food here. The owner still runs the place after 30+ years and brings the same energy to every table. We with the owners recommendation and it was amazing. The kind of innovation with very old ingredients from India that are forgotten is just mind blowing. I didn't like the dessert as I don't like artificial sweeteners taste. Definitely recommend.
Fantastic #glutenfree knowledge and food--OMG so tasty. Spice, flavor, citrus, and everything nice! Having read some of the lower reviews (because I was shocked to see them), I want to clarify that Avatar's is not STRICTLY an Indian restaurant. They are #fusion, and explicitly and proudly say on their menu that they are the proud purveyors of ethnic confusion since....I forget the year, but it always makes me grin. The owner and his whole family are an absolute delight! I have been going here for about 6 years, never once had a glutening, and always have incredibly delicious food and excellent service. I would tell you what I order, but I don't know, lol, I often just left Ashook (sorry if I am spelling it incorrectly) surprise me. Which is a strong testament to the amazing perfection of everything on the menu. This is the only place where I would let someone choose my meal for me lol. Their new outdoor patio area is super cute and spacious.
Indian food with a twist! If you are looking for fusion food with Indian flavors, it's a superb place to go. We have been here several times over the last two years. They have both indoor/outdoor dining. Their owner/staff Ashok is a very friendly guy. If you are vegetarian you must try their Mix-Veg Enchilada. We also like Punjab on the Gondola and Chicken Enchilada/plate. They have an original dessert, Avatar's Dream and it's must try.
For foodies like me, this place is paradise. Totally different kind of fusion food. The owner has been in the gastronomy industry for 33 years, he told us. The ingredients used in his dishes are only healthy and good stuff. The starters had three kinds of sauces in different flavors. The enchiladas with chicken & also prawns were flavorful. No sugars or white flour used in their cooking. The Avatar’s Dream dessert is phenomenal. And the service is very hood. The food arrived in less than 10 minutes. Fast & efficient. This place is a MUST. Highly recommendable. Five stars and more! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
⚠️ Be ready to 🔥 your cash 💸💸 One of the priciest restaurants where quantity doesn't justify the price. Taste and food presentation was first class. Their soup came with paratha and that paratha seemed like it was homemade and fresh 👌. Mushroom appetizer was flavorful and tasty. Shrimp appetizer was cilantro flavored and was ok. Jamaican jerk chicken with rice was good and was a tad tangy. Jerk chicken enchilada was so cheesy. The Italian fusion spinach fettuccini pasta looked healthy and was a good try. Mango lassi was so delightful and fresh.
I was excited to try this hyped restaurant, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to expectations. The prices seemed fair at first, but once I received my portions, I realized they were much smaller than expected for the price. I had sampled the food, but then they charged me for a full-sized dish, which felt misleading. Another downside was the manager – while it’s nice to check in with customers, the manager was too talkative. He came to our table three times during the meal, which was more disruptive than pleasant. Overall, I think there’s room for improvement in both the service and portion sizes. It wasn’t the experience I was hoping for, especially with all the hype surrounding it.
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We came here to celebrate my birthday and completely regretted it. The owner handed us menus, then came back and told us not to use them because he would "decide" what we should eat. He turned the whole thing into some ridiculous guessing game about ingredients, promising free food if we guessed right. Nothing about it was fun--just awkward and pushy. We ordered tea for six people, yet he brought tea for all eight of us and still charged us for it. The tea was awful and insanely overpriced. Without really asking, he brought out three vegetarian dishes that he claimed we'd like. They were terrible. We then ordered four non-vegetarian dishes and could barely eat any of them. He calls it "fusion," but apparently that just means dumping sugar into everything. The jerk chicken was drowned in brown sugar and still somehow dry and tough. The so-called "Kama Sutra" dish was hands down the worst thing I have ever eaten--so bad it's honestly unforgettable. One friend ordered a shrimp dish that was overly sweet with completely burnt vegetables. The food was disgusting, the prices were outrageous, and the entire experience felt like a scam. This place is massively overrated and not worth a single dollar. I will never return and would strongly advise others to stay far away
