This is a cool little neighborhood store that has a great deli inside it. The community people call it the Bait Shop, but the deli inside is called Davy Jones Deli. It's located at the n bound exit of the 101 for the scenic city of Sausalito. It has a restaurant on one side of it & a Laundromat on the other. A public Restroom above it. It also has Mike's Bikes as a neighbor as well. If you need anything except gas & menthol cigarettes you can find it at this busy, friendly & conveniently located Deli & corner store.
I love this place! Great sandwiches and wraps with great ingredients! All the people that work here are super friendly and are more then happy to serve you delicious sandwiches. Don’t waist your time going to the cheap subway down the road when you can go here and get a delicious sandwich/wrap made with fresh quality ingredients.
My friend had really built up the sandwiches here as so amazing, I felt like there was no way the real thing was going to live up to the legend. Boy, was I wrong. I was starving when I got here, and I ordered the Vulcan wrap. As the sign out front promised, it was "Amazeballs"! It was bursting with hummus, a garden full of veggies, crunchy almonds, and their homemade vegan pesto. This was the most delicious and healthy thing I've eaten in a long time. I swear I could feel the nutrition flooding my body, or maybe it was just endorphins from the delicious flavors. To top it off, it was so filling that I could only eat half. Had the second half for lunch the next day, and it was just as great as leftovers.
Davey Jones Deli is a tasty, healthy option for sandwich lovers who are passionate about fresh ingredients. The Dutch crunch rolls are a must! Their in-house roasted turkey makes other turkey sandwiches feel sub-par, you have been warned.
This is my Favorite place to stop when I’m in town. The Vulcan wrap is by far, the most delicious wrap I’ve ever had. The staff there are always friendly too. I always plan my trips to the bay around this deli! I recommend it to anyone who is going to be remotely close.
Best sandwich in Sausalito, with a lot of fresh, fun, and unique ingredients. I suggest you order a rando sando and give those sandwich artist full artistic freedom over the sando, you won’t be disappointed.
Their sandwiches are sooo good! The dutch crunch bread is perfect and the ingredients are delicious. I got the Grandma (turkey) with no tomato. They have Zapp's voodoo chips too, my favorite!
A sandwich like you have not experienced before. Absolutely fantastic. You can tell high quality ingredients are used, not only from your taste buds telling you that this is extremely delicious but you feel great after devouring one of these masterpieces.
Best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had. Go for the pork slaw or the BBC. Both excellent options. They toast the Dutch crunch and add just about everything to it making one unique experience. There aren't many places to eat so you might have to take it to go and find a spot by the docks or something. The caprese is another great option if you're not into meat. Add habanero sauce for REAL KICK.
Best sandwiches of all time. The Rando Sando is the way to go. It’s the chef special and typically invokes brisket, pickled beets, house made green mixes, and Dutch crunch bread with the middle taken out. It’s unbelievable good and you won’t find anything like it, especially at their price. Everything is hand crafted. It’s a spot that I wish less people knew about. Incredible sandwiches at fair prices in Sausalito?! It’s been my Friday lunch routine for the last two years and I’m amazed each week at how lucky I am work near by.
Easy to find and easy parking. Inside the bat shop but if you come after the deli hours there may be premade sandwiches still available. Very friendly staff and these sandwiches are made with care! We got the AB and the Uncles and the pork on was by far our favourite out the two. It was great to grab before exploring some lookout and Muir Woods.
I was shocked to see what a great vegetarian and vegan selection this place has. So many amazing options for sandwiches and bowls, and much more creative and flavorful than your typical vegetarian and vegan options at a deli. Very reasonably priced for the area. The rest of the shop has good selections for chips/snacks/drinks. Fast service and friendly people.
Not your average convenience store sandwich shop. Unbelievable Dutch crunch bread, house roasted and smoked meats (their turkey and brisket are on point), and “Twerks” or “Works” fillings that pack the sandwich to the brim. They’re also in a store with just about the biggest beverage selection you can ask for. I have never been disappointed. It’s also worth mentioning that the staff are just the nicest people. Owners honestly should consider additional locations or a food truck (they do cater), but they’re just that good.
Darn good sandwiches I've tried the Uncle and the Grandpa both were killer. The woman behind the counter was supper nice and offered suggestions that were really helpful. Also she did this cool thing where she cut the sandwich in half and individually wrapped each half which was nice for putting em in the cooler. Definitely returning again
Awesome wraps! I recently had the pleasure of trying the 'Volcano' veggies wrap, which exceeded my expectations in terms of freshness, juiciness, flavor, and presentation. The service was prompt and efficient, and I was impressed enough to save the location for future visits. My only suggestion for improvement concerns the pricing of add-ons. When I attempted to add protein to my $16 veggie wrap, the $12 charge for beef seemed excessive, bringing the total to $30 after tax. I believe a more reasonable $5 add-on fee would be ideal, even if it means a slightly smaller portion size. Despite this, the quality and taste of the food were exceptional. I appreciate the attention to detail and care in preparing the dish. With a minor adjustment to the add-on pricing, I believe this establishment has the potential to excel even further. Good luck!
📍 Davey Jones Deli is a nice spot to enjoy lunch in Sausalito, CA. Located near the iconic Sausalito House Boats, its sandwiches are a local favorite. ★★★★★ for the staff and the beef brisket.
Volcán veggie wrap is the best veggie lunch! Great flavors and texture! Order at the deli, pay at the market counter, then wait till they call your order. We always stop on our way to Marin - such a good to go lunch especially for a hike.
the vulcan wrap was FANTASTIC - and the pineapple habanero sauce is so so so good!!! highly recommend this spot (the vulcan wrap is vegan!!!!)
Do yourself a favor and choose one of their named sandwiches. I had the Kerouac. Unique flavors, lots of fresh veggies, and toasted panini style. Kind of want to keep this place off the radar, no wait when I went at around 2 on a weekday. Stellar sandwich bar inside a convenience mart.
Best sandwiches in the bay! Really low key but amazing flavor and super fresh. The twerks are awesome veggies and a bit different from normal sandwiches. My favorite is the veggie wrap with 🥓!
Pulled Pork P3 on Dutch crunch add apples, pepper jack and jalapeños. Just awesome. Little deli inside a small market.
Amazing vegetarian and regular sandwiches. Good bread good ingredients good service. It's inside the market
Super fresh and delicious sandwiches!
Excellent sandwich. Definitely need to check this out! Great day in Sausalito.

Small but mighty sandwich shop. Fresh roasted turkey on Dutch crunch…your choice of add-ons and condiments make this the best sandwich in Marin and So many choices to customize your favorite sandwich. It is situated in a small grocery store so you add on soda, chips, cookies etc.
Amazing wrap, can't recommend enough! I finally got the chance to visit Davey Jones Deli and was not disappointed. My Vulcan sandwich was beyond delicious. The perfect combination of fresh ingredients. The staff were super cool, and though I was a bit distracting with asking a lot of questions, they were kind, patient, and I could feel the passion for the place. I also got to hear about the compassionate sourcing of materials and am so happy about the lower carbon footprint of my sandwich. Can't wait to go back and hope many more get to experience this awesome deli!
Was traveling and punched in deli on my trucks navigation and pow found this little gem. I had the turkey with the works and i was blown away. The fresh turkey and fresh toppings were amazing. Tasted like a turkey sandwich with my personal garden toppings…so fresh i loved it. I ate my sandwich in the parking lot and made a point to go back in and thank them for such a great sandwich. I travel for work and eat a lot of deli sandwiches and this is hands down the best deli sandwich i have had in years! Well played Davey Jones, i look forward to many more sandwiches every time i travel near Sausalito.
I got the Salty yesterday. It was expensive. My fault I didn’t realize it was pricey. Most of their sandwiches are in the teens, mine was $30 While I’d probably opt for any of their other sandwiches in the future… damn the Salty was a tasty sandwich. These guys make a solid brisket sandwich. The staff are friendly too. Great sandwich shop!
So good! Cool little spot being tucked into a convenience store. There are so many different options, each one unique and different with things you can add. We had the turkey bacon Avocado and the uncle and both were super good! Refreshing yet filling and satisfying. Lady behind the counter was super helpful. Will definitely be back next time we visit the area

Sandwiches are fresh(veggies) and flavorful. It's a good stop to pick up some sandwiches before a hike or rides. They don't make their own breads and prices are higher than average. It's a good option in the area.
Place was hard to find. The signage is quite small. I order the B4 as a wrap instead of on a Dutch crunch. I saw it being made and it looked soooooo Goooood. I was super excited. My boyfriend and I went hiking and found a nice spot to have a picnic. Once we opened the sandwiches, my order was completely wrong. It wasn't on a wrap at all! Super disappointed and was a bit spicy (I ordered it to not have any spicy stuff). I was already starving after hiking around so I just ate it. It was delicious, just wish I had gotten what I ordered. Those sandwiches were very pricey!! About $30 for 3 sandwiches. Extra $1 if you want a wrap. Would try again but I'll need to make sure I get what I wanted exactly.
Hidden gem inside a convenience store. Delicious wraps and great to pick up before heading out to your hike or the beach. Fresh fruits, veggies, and herbs to create a blast of flavor. Definitely opt for the ghost pepper oil if you like spicy!
Maybe I just came off on an off day. Located just off 101 North, next to the bike shop. The deli is inside the market. The menu can be a bit confusing with various menu options. There are other signs that are not relevant. Unlike most sandwich shops the sandwiches come with one of two sets of toppings. The toppings are unique. The main issue was the very slow service. Ordering was quick, but it took almost 30 minutes for my sandwich to be made. The employees looked lost behind the counter and there were many incorrect sandwiches made. I think all the various toppings get confusing for the staff. Overall the sandwich was good, but not as good as many of the other deli markets or sandwich shops in the Bay Area.
We were bummed our sandwiches weren't that great today. It was our first visit. They were slammed so hopefully our sandwiches weren't the normal quality. They only had wheat bread left. We got some pulled pork but it was very dry. The sandwiches were cut in half and wrapped separately. We were somewhat surprised at how small they were. We asked for 'the works' on both but they only added them to one. The second sandwich was sadly very barren and dry. Maybe ours was a one off experience.
The sandwich was ok, but nothing special. For the price ($15!) I expected it to be twice the size but it was seriously the smallest deli sandwich I've probably ever seen, with the littlest bit of meat (the fresh roasted turkey was tasty but there was like an ounce on each side, what?). New places are always worth a try but this one was a disappointment, womp womp.
Use to be the best sandwiches. Past few years, since the original guy is not there as much, it takes too long and the sandwiches are not as good. I use to drive from SF to get their sandwiches. And it takes too damn long. The staff moves like turtles, too slo! It wasn't even that busy. 2 people in line still waited 20 mins for 1 sandwich!
For $11 the flavor was nice if you wanted really expensive Cole slaw. The sandwich I got is called the pork saw. I couldn't tell how the pork was since there was so little of it. Seemed like 2 tblspns. I'm a local and will never go back. This place is highly overrated if my experience is typical. Also, it seemed like the people making the sandwiches didn't really care.
If you're looking for a sandwich, look elsewhere. They were out of half the breads they offered on the menu. We resorted to "soft rolls" and they were stale. The amount of meat we were given was abysmal, and the over all taste was pretty terrible.

None of us were impressed with our sandwiches. For a $16 sandwich I would expect to be able to actually taste the meat in it. My son had asked for no cilantro, but it still had it. The bread they used wasn't good for toasting, just came out dry and stale as opposed to seeming oven warm. This stop was part of a tour, so if your tour also stops here, go to the other restaurant nearby.
Called ahead and was told 15 minutes. When we got there and said our name for the order they asked what we actually ordered, why, we placed the order with our name. Was told to wait outside and proceeded to wait another twenty minutes, so clearly ordering ahead was pointless. Through this whole experience they were very rude about the whole thing. Upon eating the sandwiches we were even more disappointed. They talk up their meats on the menu, and put barely any on. At twenty bucks a sandwich you'd expect a good portion of briscut and pork. There were entire sections of our sandwiches that had no meat at all. Never coming back here!
I ordered a beef sandwich without tomatoes due to allergies. The sandwich comes with tomatoes still. I complain about it and get told to never come back but if I do to make sure I mention allergy. Awful treatment and portions. I hope you like cheap bread and ingredients.
I never write reviews, but we were so disappointed I had to for this place. The man who took our order wouldn’t let us make it how we wanted, which was a simple sandwich order. The sandwiches we received were honestly gross. The turkey was gray, yes GRAY. It was under seasoned, bland and the vegetables were not fresh. Plus the guys making the sandwiches didn’t wear gloves. To top it off, our sandwiches are about $15 each. So disappointing.
Please do not come here for the sandwiches. My partner and I made a special detour in order to try this spot (the deli nestled inside the bait shop was touted as being creative, incredibly delicious, and worth even a "4th meal"). The staff are not properly trained (efficiency, understanding/familiarity with menu, sanitation etc. - no gloves and frequent cross-contamination) and the amount of meat given is embarrassing. The turkey is not deli meat but rather chunks of actual meat -- which under the right circumstance, should theoretically be *better*, but because it's not stored properly and it's also aggressively dried under the oven -- absolutely inedible :(. Thankfully, the owner accepted responsibility and allowed me to return my uneaten sandwich for a refund. (I took a single bite and promptly spat it out - just to be clear I'm not making up my review and I did have a chance to taste the food.) Davey's is trying hard to be exciting and innovative, but they don't have the basics down, so the result is an overpriced disappointment. A Subway sandwich would literally taste better even though it's much simpler with more basic and "cheap" ingredients. I feel bad for them because they might be understaffed, but from observing them work, part of it also is not having a streamlined process in place. It's why corporations like Starbucks can churn out fifty drinks in 10 mins with almost no error, but their place struggles to keep five orders straight, with people sometimes running into each other, forgetting orders entirely, not knowing what has already been pre-prepared, etc. Better top-down training and storage of ingredients would easily solve these issues. Sometimes less is more, too - a sandwich can be amazing with simply meat, some veg, a pickle, and cheese. Not everything has to be hyped.
First time at this deli and very disappointed. We asked for pineapple habanero sauce on our sandwiches but when we received our sandwiches, there was nothing but mayo on it. The turkey meat was gross. And the grossest part is that people working there do not wear gloves or hair net. The guy that was making sandwiches pants kept falling off his butt and you could see his underwear and he kept pulling it up and kept touching everyone's food with same hands. Everyone kept touching everything else and then touching food with same hands. Yuck!!! Never going back there. My sandwiche went into the garbage.
I’m a bit dumbfounded. This is where expectations and reality don’t align. Came in yesterday for a sandwich after seeing the rating. The guy working the counter wasn’t very friendly. When asked for suggestions he didn’t know the menu well enough to give one out. His response was it’s whatever you like. I don’t know what that even means or how that response helps in deciding. The menu itself is pretty busy adding to the confusion. And some of the sandwiches seemed slightly redundant. And various options/upgrades that don’t make a whole difference for a sandwich. Cut the options out. Focus on fewer but higher quality ingredients. Keep it simple all around. And maybe they need a clearer menu. In terms of sandwich-the amount of turkey in the sandwich was minuscule and perhaps a bit old. The veggies seemed mushy/wilted. The whole sandwich seemed mushy. Flavor was just ok. I didn’t eat the second half but was still hungry. Just unacceptable especially for the price they are charging. Sandwiches here don’t come cheap, which I don’t mind if it doesn’t seem cheaply made. Also having an Italian sandwich option would be good. It’s probably among the most popular type of sandwich, so for a shop not to have one is an interesting choice. Retraining the employee would be another place to start as well.
Went there in a Saturday afternoon and the kids we working screwed up my sandwich 4 times. Took 35 minutes to make a crappy, overpriced turkey sandwich.
Mentioned as open from 9. Not really, was not a holiday, not a notice of mention on Google or at shop. Was open for store but sandwich shop was closed and the guy at the store didn’t even knew when they will open.
