Felt like you stepped back in time. Cozy dining area. Great food. Large portions
I truly believe that Consistency is key to Ferrari’s success. You can rely on having an amazing meal, with incredible service by a dedicated staff in a comfortable environment. I love the large portions because leftovers = Easy meals at home and pasta is always even better the second day 😋
I went to Ferrari's many years ago. Atmosphere still looks relaxing and cozy. Their food is absolutely amazing . Definitely go there if you want a fantastic Italian meal.
My niece and husband had a great New Years Eve dinner. They had a friend as the server. Thank you for making it a wonderful date night. I’d like to surprise a special January 8 th birthday Dinner for her and her family. I’m sending this from South Caroline. Tell me what you can do to make it a special evening. on Januaryv8th. Respectfully your, Paula
Exceptional experience during our Christmas Eve dinner on December 24, 2025. The meal exemplified traditional Italian cuisine at its finest, featuring authentic dishes prepared with care and presented in generous portions, perfectly suited to the festive occasion. What truly distinguished the evening was the warmth and hospitality of the staff. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine affection, including heartfelt hugs, and made to feel entirely at home. The atmosphere fostered a sense of belonging, as if dining among close relatives rather than in a restaurant. Ferrari's has long been a cherished institution, and this visit reinforced its reputation for outstanding service and welcoming environment. It is regrettable that anyone might pass without having the opportunity to enjoy a meal here among such dedicated and gracious individuals. If you have the opportunity do take it and appreciate this gem! Cheers!
I try to come a few times out of the year for special occasions. The food is 10 out of 10. The Customer Service is amazing. The atmosphere itself just gives off cool vibes. If this is your first time going, please order the chicken francese you will not regret it. The prices are very fair and the drinks are very good.
Ashley the server was very kind and hard working. She gave us a fun and eventful night and I can’t wait to go back. We went there on a Monday night and it was very busy. She tried her very best to please everyone and just make everyone happy. Along the sides, the food was great!
The food was amazing and the service was even better. This is a gem of a place serving traditional Italian- it won’t disappoint. The server was the best we’ve had in recent memory and, he created an experience that I won’t forget. From his family history to history of the town to recommendations of where to go next, this was an experience that stands above the rest. The veal was excellent and my personal favorite, lasagna, was homemade and came highly recommended. It’s been around 50 years for a reason. Go check it out.
It’s been many years since our last meal at Ferrari’s. Somethings remain the same; on street parking is hit or miss – this time the parking deity shined upon us with a spot near their front door – with the one person entrance step into their small yet comfortable bar. The bar is the dining room entrance. Ferrari’s dining room was nicely updated and well lighted. All their tables filled quickly. Our ample broccoli rabe appetizer had the perfect balance of olive oil and garlic that was cooked to tender perfection. A bottle of il Principe Nebbiolo was the ideal wine for our entire meal. It was smooth and flavorful, quite frankly it slid down way too fast. A sizable eggplant parmigiano, with an equally huge spaghetti side, was tender, flavorful and perfectly breaded and prepared. My linguini with clam sauce took a while to decipher on their menu. The preferred white clam sauce was one of several offered. When presented it was spot on. A mound of al dente, linguini with tender, sliced garlic and a dozen clams in their shells. The clams were sumptuous, quickly shelled and mixed into the linguini. A tartufo, presented with a sizable soup spoon, was cracked and enjoyed by all. Our leftovers, substantial, were enjoyed the next few nights. It was comforting to know that Ferrari’s maintained its high standards and service.
An Unforgettable Dining Experience at Ferrari's Ristorante Our visit to Ferrari's Ristorante in Schenectady was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the host and promptly shown to a cozy table. The atmosphere was inviting, and the service was impeccable from start to finish. Our server took the time to let us peruse the menu without any rush and helped make our dining experience smooth and enjoyable. For appetizers, we started with the Fried Calamari, which was paired perfectly with an authentic marinara sauce. We also tried the Shrimp Vesuvio, and it was absolutely phenomenal—bursting with flavor and prepared to perfection. For our entrées, my wife and I both chose the Chicken Melenzano, a delightful dish combining chicken parmigiana, eggplant, and a rich red sauce. Adding homemade fettuccine with even more of their incredible red sauce elevated the meal to the next level. The entrées also came with a crisp, fresh salad topped with an authentic Italian dressing that tied it all together. A bottle of Tuscan wine rounded out the meal beautifully, pairing perfectly with the red sauce, chicken, and eggplant. Dessert was another highlight of the evening. We ordered the Tiramisu, my wife's favorite, and it was hands down the best we've ever had. The recipe was incredibly authentic, and Ferrari's attention to detail truly shone through. While chatting with some friendly locals, we were enthusiastically told to return and try the cream puffs, which we can't wait to do on our next visit! Overall, this dining experience exceeded every expectation we had. From the warm service to the outstanding food, Ferrari's Ristorante is a gem worth the drive—even though we live an hour away. We’ll absolutely be returning for another memorable meal! P.S. Don't forget to try an true Italian Coffee on your next visit!
Vacationing in Schenectady, NY and chose to go to Ferrari’s Italian Ristorante after reading the reviews. Made a reservation to make it convenient for us. Street parking only, we walked in and you enter into the bar area. Hostess table at entrance to dining area. Nice gentlemen took us to our table in the main dining room, table clothes and napkins, I appreciate that. Very nice young woman approached us and took our beverage order and brought us a basket of bread and butter. We ordered Calamari for an appetizer and it was brought to us with marinara sauce, the portion was very generous and it was cooked perfectly, tender and delicious with the dipping sauce, yum! Our salads came next , the Italian dressing was very tasty and the lettuce and veggies were chilled and fresh. Our dinners arrived in a timely fashion piping hot from the kitchen. I ordered Chicken Franchise, again, a generous portion of chicken cooked perfectly tender with a lemon butter sauce and a side of spaghetti with a very tasty tomato sauce, it was a delicious dinner. Husband ordered Veal Melanzano, Parmesan style with eggplant and mozzarella cheese and sauce, it was a huge portion plus the spaghetti, hub loved it!! Our waitress took great care of us, she boxed our leftovers for us in microwaveable containers, plus the leftover bread and butter. They have a large dessert selection but we were too stuffed. Prices were very reasonable considering what they gave you. Old fashioned Italian restaurant in an old neighborhood, very well maintained, we truly enjoyed our dining experience, come give Ferrari’s a try, highly recommend!! Debbie, Mich
My Mom, who is visiting from TN, and I went for an early dinner. We ordered a cold antipasti to split and it was yummy! I ordered the Chicken Marsala with linguine. Flavor was spot on but the Marsala sauce had a strange color and I think the mushrooms were from a can. Again, the flavor was very good and the chicken fell apart. The red sauce was good gravy. My Mom ordered the Shrimp Scampi over linguine. She said it was delicious!! We ordered a take out Veal Parmigiana for BF with a side of capellini. BF said the red sauce was delicious tonight. Bread basket was addictive and service was great!! The place was packed by the time we left. We didn’t have dessert. We left with enough leftovers for several meals. Great time with my Mom!
I had these on different days because my niece loves coming here and we try different dishes. As you can see from the pictures, they have really large servings, enough for two to three people in one order! Prices are reasonable and the service is great. I recommend everyone to try their chicken or veal parm
My wife had an amazing meal here a couple of months ago and has been wanting to bring me since. Schenectady has no shortage of amazing Italian restaurants so the bar was set pretty high. The impression you get when you walk in is that not much has changed since the 1960s! The small bar is easily imagined with old friends and cigarette smoke after all hard days work. The restaurant is fairly small and it was crowded and somewhat noisy but that is certainly understandable on a Saturday night. We were seated in about 15 minutes having made a reservation. The service was great even though they were obviously overwhelmed. The menu was full of southern and Northern Italian dishes, including things like a red, roasted pepper and provolone appetizer. You don’t see that on many menus. We were probably presented with a basket of bread which tasted like it came from Perreca’s. There was butter and no dipping oil. There is a lovely cocktail selection each very unusual and two of us went for the.Revello, which is blood, orange gin, Cointreau, orange juice, and club soda. It was great, even though a bit strong for my taste. The salad was served family style, which was a lovely touch. Amazingly fresh with lettuce, tomato, celery, black olives, and small cubes of provolone. Served with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing wonderful. The first issue is that our entrées came out too soon. It’s an unusual complaint but when you are enjoying a salad like that and may want to have seconds out of the big bowl, it’s nice to have a little bit of time. That being said as busy as it was, I’m not sure they had the luxury of optimal timing. As for entrées, one of us had chicken francese, reported as being wonderful. The eggplant Parmesan, likewise, and it was lightly fried or sautéed, and did not have a breading on it. I should report that the portions are very large. I had the seafood platter, which is more like a.zuppa de pesce, which I had in red sauce, but you can have in white sauce as well, which contained a huge amount of clams shrimp calamari scallops. The shrimp were large 16/20 or possibly larger. The one food issue of the night is the haddock piccata. When my wife first ate here, she found this dish to be amazing and brought some home and I agreed. What made it amazing is it had a very light coating and was sautéed. The coding seemed like just egg and flour. The haddock piccata we had last night was deep fried with a thick breading. It totally took away from the dish, and the breading prevented the sauce from mixing with the fish. I’m not sure if it’s a difference between chefs, but if they read this, I hope they go back to the prior preparation. We did not try the homemade pasta, but it is available as an up charge. We left full and happy and will be back. We were in no shape for dessert although I’m sure it is amazing.
This is a nice, little restaurant very close to Proctor's. The food isn't the best Italian food I've ever eaten, but certainly nothing to complain about. We split a Chicken Parmigiana. The entree was good but I felt their sauce, while having a nice taste, was too thin. We also ordered a side of broccoli rabe. Similarly, nice taste but it was very tough. For dessert we had their lemon cake. It too was fine, but very sweet. Too sweet for my taste. On the plus side, their salad was one of the best I've had. Celery, carrots, tomatoes, bits of mozzarella, with a variety of greens in their homemade red wine vinegar dressing. Delicious. They also served some very nice pre-meal bread. The atmosphere was fine, but was plain and felt a little cramped. Service was good. All in all a good restaurant, but not a fantastic one.
Excellent food, the shrimp cocktail and my pasta dish were both amazing. The calamari was also very good. The espresso martinis were excellent. However, my first espresso martini was practically thrown on the table, the waitress spilled half of it on the table cloth. I understand mistakes happen, so no big deal. But then when my second martini came, the waitress came from behind me and spilled it on my coat on the back of my chair. I did not realize this until I leaned back and my back was wet. Not impressed. I also did not realize that salads here are served family style. We had a group of 10 and there were only 2 salads served to our table. The plates to put the salad on were smaller than our appetizer plates. We all joked that we’d each get a “sample” of a salad.
eggplant Parm was mushy, not fried, unfortunately the worst I have ever had. homemade fettuccine with meatballs average. Sausage was delicious and so was the large portion of fried calamari. Kids fettuccine Alfredo was so so, way too much butter. Not the same Ferrari quality I used to love and enjoy.
Where do I start? Dinner took almost 3 hours. Two of those hours were spent waiting for our food. They sent the salad with the main meal. The food was grey, flavorless, and the consistency of wet toilet paper. Server was a clueless kid. The whole place smells like a dead fish. Dawn dish detergent instead of hand soap in the bathrooms. Avoid at all costs.
