Servicio exquisito, desde la recepción hasta la salida. Atención muy cercana y agradable, la comida muy buena y obviamente el plato estrella el cochinillo fabuloso. La guinda poder compartir unos momentos con el Sr. Candido y volveremos a Segovia porque nos quedaron por ver algunas maravillas en profundidad. Muchas gracias por la acogida y prometemos volver.

Buen sitio para comer, el cochinillo uno de los mejores de segovia, pedimos de entrante chorizo ( no esta muy bueno, hay mejores en otros restaurantes segovia) setas segovianas ( muy buenas recomendables 100%) tortilla de trufa ( muy buena lo unico que la sirven muy poco echa) y el chuleton que esta buenisimo. Lo mejor el cochinillo sin duda. Muy bien decorado el sitio que cuenta la historia de segovia por sus paredes y el servicio de los camareros en traje es unico. Me encantó! Todo estuvo de lujo. Comer bajo el Acueducto ya es una experiencia, pero hacerlo en el Mesón de Cándido es historia viva. El cochinillo asado es espectacular: crujiente por fuera y tan tierno que lo cortan con un plato. Ambiente tradicional y familiar, trato cercano y platos típicos de la cocina castellana que nunca fallan. Un lugar imprescindible si visitas Segovia.

Sin duda alguna la parada obligatoria de Segovia por antonomasia. Un lugar espectacular con un trato increíble por el personal. Reservamos en el mismo día. Tomamos sopa castellana de primero, seguido de carrillera que te viene con patatas de segundo y de postre pedimos el ponche segoviano y el poste sorpresa, acompañado de media botella de vino blanco. Acabamos con una jarra del lugar y planning con varias fotos e información del mesón. Sois los mejores.

Recomiendo muchísimo este lugar. La experiencia fue increíble. La comida estaba espectacular, el servicio fue excelente y además tienes una experiencia tradicional segoviana. Pedí la carrillera, que venía con patatas y pimientos asados, y mi novio pidió el chuletón. Ambos platos estaban para morirse. La relación calidad-precio y cantidad es muy buena. Además, el sitio está justo al lado del Acueducto. Una experiencia 10/10.

Ha sido una súper experiencia. Lo recomiendo totalmente, nos atendieron muy bien y rápido. Hay que hacer reserva con antelación. Son muy atentos, en mi reserva indique que si podía ubicarnos en una mesa cerca de la ventana con vistas al aqueducto y así fue. También quiero comentar que la camarera que nos atendió y nos recomendó súper bien todo a la hora de pedir, tanto la cantidad de la comida como los platos a elegir. Pedimos judiones increíbles y el cochinillo se deshace en la boca, todo muy rico. Las cantidades que veréis en la foto es 1 plato que lo dividieron para dos personas. Calidad precio de 10, recomiendo si vas a Segovia, no saltarte venir a comer a Candido.

Tradiciòn en el sabor, en el trato, en el buen comer. Sin lugar a duda excelente, la atención por parte de todo el personal, que han hecho una vez más una página más en el Mesòn de Càndido. El recibimiento por parte de este legendario lugar, y Càndido como mesonero Mayor, llevando al máximo el legado que ha heredado. Los camareros muy atentos, la decoraciòn y la calidez del lugar, crean el espacio perfecto para disfrutar de la auténtica gastronomía en el corazón de Segovia junto su Acueducto. Volveremos de nuevo sin lugar a duda.

Emblemático restaurante de Segovia, a los pies del acueducto, que no puede decepcionar a nadie porque une gastronomía, historia y espectáculo. El cochinillo “quita el sentío”, como decimos los andaluces, la piel crujiente y en su punto de asado y con un sabor exquisito. Buena carta de vinos para acompañar. El momento de cortar el cochinillo y tirar el plato es entrañable, se nota donde hay legado.

Visitar el Mesón Cándido es toda una experiencia. Probamos el cochinillo, y el propio Cándido lo troceó delante nuestra con el ritual del plato, algo muy especial y auténtico. Comer allí, justo a los pies del acueducto de Segovia, le da un valor añadido increíble, y el producto estaba sencillamente riquísimo. Además del cochinillo, probamos los judiones, que estaban espectaculares, así como el magret de pato y un bacalao en su punto perfecto. Una experiencia gastronómica redonda en un lugar histórico que merece la fama que tiene.

Locación grande, de 3 pisos. Un muy buen cochinillo y cordero. Y la presencia de A. Candido es un lujo... El corte del cochinillo con plato, incluido el lanzamiento del plato... La atencion estuvo muy bien, bastante atentos los meseros. Buena carta de vinos. Y muy buenos los postres, le dimos al ponche segoviano y a la torrija. En pocas palabras, comimos todos los "must" y estuvo a la altura.

We celebrated my birthday at Mesón de Cándido, and honestly, it was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel truly special. They seated us at a gorgeous window table with a perfect view of the iconic Aqueduct—absolutely stunning, especially as the sun was setting and the lights started to come on. The atmosphere was warm and lively, exactly what you want for a celebration. The food was outstanding. We went for the classic cochinillo asado (roast suckling pig), and it was everything it’s hyped to be! Crispy skin, tender meat, perfectly seasoned. The rest of the meal was equally delicious, with generous portions and beautiful presentation. But the highlight was the surprise from the staff. When dessert time came, they brought out a small cake with a candle just for me! I was so touched. My husband and I were both grinning ear to ear. We even got to chat briefly with the jefe (the owner/manager), and he was incredibly kind and welcoming. You can tell the place is run with a lot of heart. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and everything felt effortless. We left happy, full, and already talking about when we can come back. If you’re in Segovia and want an authentic, memorable meal with a side of magic, Mesón de Cándido is an absolute must. We’ll definitely be returning next time we’re in town! 10/10 – Highly recommended! 🎂🏰

A fabulous historical establishment steeped in history. A family business and has been for hundreds of years. The service is impeccable. We both had the suckling pig. Signature dish of the area and the establishment. The abuelo demonstrated how the piglet is quartered using a plate. Pure theatre but very impressive. The food was outstanding accompanied by fried potatoes and mixed salad. We were made to feel as honored guests. A great experience.

We had such a great experience there! We were there 1pm on Tuesday, it was already very busy. We didn’t book a table but we were lucky enough to have a table! Because when we went in a few minutes after it opened, the restaurant was packed! We ordered 1 portion of a suckling pig, and a potato truffle omelet. Both of them were amazing! The owner of the restaurant himself did a small breaking the plate show to us and also to every room that day! It was amazing! Definitely recommend! (And the view from the restaurant is the Segovia Aqueduct itself! Truly beautiful). And the staffs are very nice.

Large servings of food. We only wanted one dish but our server said it might not be enough for two. But when it arrived, it was good for at least 2. Oh well, something to eat at the hotel later. Service was very good, we got a table right away. I had the veal steak and it was very tender. My wife had the suckling pig roast and she liked it. The bread and wine are just okay. We also had the poncho segoviano and it was really good.

Special visit to the most famous asador of Spain. Don Alberto Candido greet us before been seated which was a highlight. The part about presenting the cochinillo and how it is cut with a plate is also a highlight. But the star of the day was the cochinillo which was cooked to perfection and tasted like heaven. We love the ambientation of the asador and the service was spot on!!!

Famous restaurant, obviously touristic being right next to the aqueduct, but it has a class to it and the waiters and staff are old school nice and professional. The food: amazing! We had as appetiser honey eggplant with jamon - exquisite! Main dish - obviously the suckling pig - delicious! We got a nice presentation from the chef. Overall, it’s a place with style!

Fuimos en familia, con reserva previa. La comida buenísima, el tiempo entre platos correcto. El trato de los camareros genial, respetuoso y educado. Calidad-precio aceptable. Parking de pago muy cerca. Ubicación inmejorable. El único problema que veo es que no existe carta, ni platos para niños. Aún así es fue una experiencia buenísima.

Restaurante ambientado, te hacen vivir una experiencia tradicional, el personal muy amable. Éramos 4 y vinimos a cenar por un cumple, uno de nosotros pidió el cochinillo y te hacen el show de cortarlo con el plato y recitar unas palabras en el medio del salón para luego servirlo en las mesas que lo hayan pedido. El personal está muy atento a que todo haya quedado a tu gusto. A pesar de ser un restaurante para ir a comer evidentemente cochinillo, pedimos también pescado, entrecot y chuletón y la carne estaba muy tierna. Hemos probado varios postres, estaban bien pero creo que el mejor fue el que trajeron de cumple que fue el postre Segoviano de ponche. Queda enfrente del acueducto, al ser una noche fría no pudimos comer en la terraza que tienen frente al acueducto.

La comida muy buena. Los trabajadores la verdad que cero sonrisas. Bastante antipáticos y nada de amabilidad, ni sugerencias y un señor de allí le dijimos que en la cuenta había un error y puso una cara de que le habíamos quitado la vida o algo. También estuvimos pensando y esperando durante 5min para que nos preguntasen por la bebida y nos ponía caras el mismo señor de que si ya lo teníamos pensado el qué comer. Pedíamos sugerencias y decía un entrante sin más. El más majo y educado un chaval joven camarero. Ese señor y las camareras demostraban pocas ganas de trabajar. La comida espectacular los pimientos rellenos aunque eran pocos, y el cochinillo muy sabroso. El chorizo buena cantidad pero sabor normal.

Un restaurante emblemático enfrente del acueducto de Segovia. Un lugar para comer su famoso cochinillo, donde el propio mesero lo corta con un plato para demostrar lo tierno que queda tras cocinarlo. También probé el cordero, que está buenísimo. Todos los asados y carnes muy recomendables. Tienen variedad de entrantes típicos y postres caseros. Mi experiencia con los entrantes que pedí no fue la mejor, estaban algo fríos y los judiones de la granja no me sorprendieron.

El lugar vale la pena visitarlo, aunque solo sea por la decoración y la experiencia. Pese a que hay muchísima gente (de hecho aún yendo con reserva al menos en fin de semana hay que hacer cola) se ha de decir que el servicio es muy agradable y bastante rápido, considerando la circunstancia. Respecto a la comida, recomiendo encarecidamente pedir las especialidades como son el lechazo o el cochinillo. El jamón ibérico estaba muy bueno, y las berenjenas también estaban bastante bien. Sin embargo, no puedo dar cinco estrellas porque el Magret de pato estaba muy malo. Hasta el punto de tener que pedir que me lo cambiaran porque era una suela de zapato. Los postres estaban bien, sin más. Eso sí, la decoración es muy bonita y la experiencia de ver a don Cándido cortando el cochinillo con un plato es impagable. Lo recomiendo pero pidiendo las especialidades.

En general, la experiencia fue bastante buena. La comida estaba muy rica, especialmente la berenjena con miel y jamón, que fue sin duda el plato estrella: bien equilibrada, sabrosa y diferente a lo típico que esperas encontrar. El cochinillo también estaba muy bueno, bien asado y crujiente como manda la tradición. Eso sí, sinceramente no creo que merezca del todo la pena el precio: 31€ por persona me parece algo elevado para lo que es, aunque entiendo que es uno de los platos más emblemáticos de la ciudad. El local es otro punto a destacar: muy curioso, con una decoración de estilo medieval y una distribución que parece casi un laberinto. Tiene encanto y hace que la experiencia sea más especial. En resumen, buena comida y un ambiente original, aunque con precios algo altos en los platos más famosos.

Restaurante situado a pie de del acueducto Segovia, los camareros y el servicio está bastante bien están muy atentos sí que es verdad que igual faltaría un poco más de camareros para que saliese todo un poco más rápido. Al final la especialidad es el cochinillo, pero sí se hecha en falta una carta un poco más Variada en platos para que se pueda disfrutar de Restaurante. La calidad es buena y los precios son acordes. Muy recomendable las torrijas de postre. Las ensaladas tal vez son moderadas, son para como mucho tres personas.

Comimos en el Mesón de Cándido y fué todo un acierto, pedimos cochinillo y perdiz, fué una verdadera experiéncia gastronómica. El local bien conservado y decorado como taberna o mesón tradicional castellano, el servicio muy atento en todo momento, en un ambiente animado con productos de calidad a los pies del monumento mas emblemático de Segovia. Los precios son acordes al servicio, no son elevadamente caros sus menús y vale la pena la visita a un local tan tradicional. Lo peor, el estacionamiento, hay un Parking cerca que no siempre tiene sitio disponible. Volveria sin dudarlo.

Mesón Cándido hace honor a su fama: muy buen servicio, atención profesional y platos más que correctos, bien elaborados y acordes a su tradición. La experiencia en conjunto es muy satisfactoria y refleja por qué es un referente en Segovia. Dato curioso: el famoso corte del cochinillo con un plato no es solo espectáculo; nació como demostración de la extrema ternura del asado y durante años se realizaba únicamente en ocasiones especiales, no de forma rutinaria como hoy. It is a historical rustic house located right next to the picturesque Roman aqueduct. The view of the aqueduct was stunning while dining in this beautiful charming restaurant. It is known (could be the original) for their regional suckling pig dish. The pig was well roasted and melted in my mouth😋. However, it was big with a leg bone attached to it which made it hard to cut it with a butter knife. We also did not get a chance to witness the carving of the pig that some reviews mentioned. We had Jamon Iberian and crawfish as appetizers which were pretty good but not unique. We made our reservation at 4:30pm not knowing that they had to close by 6pm until we got to the dessert time, which they offered, but then rescinded the dessert within in 5 minutes because the kitchen was closed. So we had to rush through dinner without desserts or much drinks 😳

Of course it was a must when visiting Segovia. We had a reservation and we didn't have to wait to be shown to our table. The interior is very cozy and the views beautiful. We had the segovian mushroom and grilled Eggplants with ham as starters, duck and the suckling pig as entre and as dessert the sogovian ponche cake. All very tasty, especially the two starters stole the show. The staff were really friendly and tried to help us considering our very limited Spanish.

I was a group of seven and we were able to sit outside for lunch. Most in the group ordered the sucking pig and they enjoyed it. I ordered the chicken - I wasn’t what I expected but was okay. There was also an order of fish, which was the best meal at the table.

Love the history, not only of the history of the building, but the legacy of the 4 generations of the family ownership. The food was good, the presentations are great...service...not so much. But I would recommend them overall. Enjoy the Succulent Pig...it is great!

The seabass was very good, demonstrating the kitchen's capability with seafood preparation through proper cooking technique and seasoning that highlighted the fish's natural qualities without overwhelming them. The cochinillo (roast suckling pig) - the restaurant's signature dish - was good but could use more herbs and seasoning to elevate it beyond basic preparation. While the meat was tender and properly cooked, it lacked the bold flavors that would make this traditional Segovian specialty truly memorable. The dining experience was significantly enhanced by the stunning location - we loved the view of the Roman aqueduct, which creates an unparalleled backdrop that adds historical grandeur to the meal. This magnificent setting transforms an ordinary dinner into something special, making the restaurant as much about the experience as the food. Meson de Candido succeeds in providing traditional Castilian cuisine in an extraordinary setting, where the breathtaking views of the ancient aqueduct create lasting memories that complement the regional food offerings. Unfortunately, the staff were quite rude and unenthusiastic, rushing us to eat and leave.

While in Segovia, I dined at Mesón de Cándido, the city’s legendary spot for roast suckling pig. With such a reputation, expectations were understandably high – but the experience, unfortunately, didn’t quite live up to the hype. We had a dinner reservation, and although the place wasn’t fully booked, the staff’s service felt rather indifferent – not rude, but lacking warmth. It gave off the impression of a restaurant resting on its fame rather than striving to impress. We ordered a salad, pig’s ears with beans, the famous roast suckling pig, and roasted lamb. The pig is undoubtedly the headline item here, but to be honest, it felt overrated. The skin – usually prized for its crispiness – was soft and slightly rubbery, likely due to excess moisture. With better treatment of the skin, the dish could have lived up to its reputation. Surprisingly, the roasted lamb outshone the pig – crisp skin, tender meat, and full of flavor. Overall, while Mesón de Cándido holds undeniable historical significance and name recognition in Segovia, I wouldn’t say it’s a must-visit purely for the food. Unless you’re particularly drawn to the tradition and history of the place, there are probably better culinary options in town.

We came on Dec 26 and we misunderstood the booking time, arriving at 4:55 pm for a 4:30 pm reservation, not realizing the restaurant was closing between lunch and dinner. We were ready to leave, but the manager kindly let us in anyway and explained only a limited menu was available (small cochinillo and salad). We were grateful and agreed. Unfortunately, the service that followed was unacceptable. We were seated in a corner on the ground floor and the server was rude and impatient from the start, telling us to order quickly because she “had to leave,” even though other tables were still being served (including a large table next to us receiving food). The entire lunch was very tense, We don’t speak Spanish, and after the initial interaction she did not help us in English, while other staff had been able to communicate in English. Practical requests were also not handled: we asked for an extra water glass (3 people, 2 glasses) and it never arrived, so we had to take one from a nearby table; we asked for ground pepper and were given an empty container. The table beside us had the entire small pig sat aside so I thought to take a picture, with the other waiter saying ok, she saw it and put herself in front of the food so I cannot take a picture. The cochinillo was also served half cold. Other staff on ground floor and upstairs were kind, which makes this stand out even more. There were also plenty of people still eating and leaving, we were absolutely not the last ones even the table next to us left after us. Dear restaurant manager, I hope you can address this. Because it can seriously harm the experience for guests and the restaurant’s reputation.

Probably the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The food portion was minuscule. In the pictures it looks like the portions are big, but once you cut into it, most of what’s on the plate is just bone. We had to scrape off what little meat there was just to get a few bites. Definitely overpriced, too. And the service? Even WORSE than the food. Absolutely terrible. The staff is either nowhere to be found or acts like they don’t even want to be there. I made a reservation well in advance for 3:30 PM. I’m a big foodie. I dine out all the time, travel often for food, and I’ve NEVER been treated this poorly anywhere. Before our reservation, my partner stopped by around 2:00 PM to ask if we could sit outside. The doorman looked at our reservation and said yes, no problem. We assumed he made a note of it since he had a clipboard with all the bookings. When we came back for our reservation, the restaurant was very busy — understandably, since it was peak lunch hour. We checked in with the same doorman, reminded him that he said we could sit outside, and he told us to wait. We stepped aside like he asked, and then he started seating everyone behind us while we just stood there, completely ignored. When we tried to follow up, he waved us off and told us to “go talk to the waiters outside,” which made no sense since usually the host or doorman handles seating. Still, we followed directions and went outside, only to get dismissed by THREE different servers before we could even explain what was going on. None of them let us finish a sentence. They just told us to “get in line.” We were frustrated, confused, and now late for our reservation. We even had to pull out Google Translate to type up what was happening, and only then did someone finally listen. The man slicing ham called over an English-speaking waiter, and thank goodness for him — he was the only person in the entire restaurant who showed any kindness or professionalism. He tried to help by talking to the doorman for us, but even he was brushed off. The doorman told him to tell us to get back in line, so we had to literally go stand in line again for our own reservation. Eventually, the doorman finally sat us, after making us wait again for no reason. Once seated, we realized our assigned waiter was one of the same servers who had rudely dismissed us earlier (let’s call him Drake dupe - an uglier version of Drake) and who had one of the nastiest attitudes I’ve ever seen in hospitality. He looked annoyed from the moment he approached our table and barely spoke to us, taking our order like we were bothering him. We ordered two plates of the suckling pig, fried potatoes, mushrooms, a salad, a bottle of water, and a glass of sangria. While waiting, another server dropped off water glasses, and a piece of glass broke off and hit my partner in the chest. No apology, no concern, nothing. Since everyone was rushing past us and ignoring us, there was no one we could even tell right away. As we waited, I noticed every other table around us received their full orders all at once, not one dish at a time. So when only one of our suckling pig plates arrived, I politely asked Drake dupe just to confirm that our second plate and sides were still coming. Instead of simply answering, he rolled his eyes and said “yes” in the most dismissive, sassy tone, like I was bothering him just for asking. When the rest of our food finally came, I honestly couldn’t even enjoy it anymore. The suckling pig was good — no denying that — the mushrooms were just okay, but when you’ve been treated like garbage for over an hour, it’s hard to taste anything but frustration. After we finished eating, it took ages to get the check. The same kind English-speaking waiter stopped by again to check on us (the only person who cared), and I told him about the glass incident. He apologized and said he’d let our waiter know, but no manager or supervisor ever came to talk to us. Eventually, some random guy handed us a coffee mug with the restaurant’s logo. I guess that was their way of “making up” for everything. We still had to ask again for the bill, and when it came, we were charged full price ($110) with zero acknowledgment of the poor service or the broken glass. I should have listened to the other bad reviews on here. There are so many complaints about rude service here, and management always replies with the same copy-paste “we’ll work on it” response. Clearly, nothing has changed and probably never will.
