This place is so wonderful! The foods great and tasty, all the goods are local and intentionally chosen. It’s a great environment for families especially with little ones, lots of books and toys to keep them entertained. I’d recommend this place to anyone in the area or passing through!!
Favorite spot in Soldotna. Reliable, good food at reasonable prices. Feels like an actual part of the community, a place to hang out and meet folks.
Their soups are delicious and stove hot and have quality foods in it. Great friendly staff and they make you feel at home !!
Such a warm and inviting spot — I felt welcome the second I walked in. The vibe is cozy and relaxed, and the staff were super friendly. I had the giant spring roll with bacon, and it was absolutely delicious. Crispy, flavorful, and generously filled. Charming little place with great food and great energy. Can’t wait to stop by again.
Delicious soups: squash, chowder and especially the miso ramen. This chef is cooking with love and well-developed sense of yummy. Charming grocery and coop.
I had a breakfast burrito served as a bowl - huge portion, outstanding flavors! Great coffee too, and friendly service!
Willow at The Goods catered our wedding at the Diamond J. She and her team did a phenomenal job and we were so happy that our guests got to experience locally sourced food. Willow was very responsive and easy to work with. She took care of everything on the day-of and really went above and beyond with the menu and was able to provide for vegetarian, vegan, and celiac meals. Many of our guests later commented on how much they liked the food and that it was the best they’d had at any wedding they’d been to. It was also reasonably priced and even cheaper than quotes from other caterers recommended by the Diamond J. I could not recommend her enough as a caterer. The food at her restaurant is also fantastic!
The Goods is the kind of place worth going out of your way for, but thankfully you don't have to. Centrally located in Soldotna on the main drag, this is your must-stop location for the best options in locally-focused and mindful food. The menu is fantastic and highlights Alaska Grown and Alaska sourced options for each season. Check out the calendar on the website for a slew of events from cooking classes, live music, trivia, workshops, and more. This is an enterprise dedicated to doing good in the community. Order in or take out, or shop for home goods and bulk foods - they've got what you need!
MUST GO location! Amazing food, I cannot stress that enough. Great location, great atmosphere with plenty of seating, plenty of free parking, and plenty of dietary options.
Have been here for both breakfast and lunch - both were delicious and healthy! So glad to have discovered this last summer. We'll be back again & again. The staff are great too!
The kind of local small business that makes Alaska proud. Food here is amazing. The cooks, owner and all the staff do a great job Soldotna is lucky to have this place
This is a cool place to shop with natural foods, soaps, products for the whole family. There’s a place where you can grab a quick bite to eat or sip come coffee. I’ve attached a menu in the pics. They offer classes from time to time and there’s lots of parking too. Farm fresh eggs 🥚 and more!
Willow and her team catered our wedding in Homer and it was absolutely delicious, packed with local veggies, and incredibly well-cooked spring halibut. Many many people said it was the best wedding meal they had ever had. We are so appreciative to Willow and her team for their flexibility and creativity in cooking to make our wedding experience so outstanding! We loved the family style delivery and the community atmosphere it created. I'd recommend them wholeheartedly for anyone looking for an amazing catering experience!
Love the food and service and welcoming environment here. I always love coming in because it reminds me of my Grandma's house! Also love that they support other vendors in their shop. So thankful they carry Bear Botanicals items.
Vibe: This place has soul. The atmosphere is cozy, creative, and unmistakably Alaskan. I’m a big fan of their eco-conscious ethos—thoughtfully reusing materials and spotlighting local soaps, art, and wares. It's a classy little corner of community care wrapped in rustic charm. The mismatched tables and chairs somehow work, creating an unpretentious, welcoming environment. What truly sealed the deal for us? The play area. As a parent, this is a game-changer. My 4-year-old kept busy while we enjoyed our meal, and that’s worth its weight in gold. That said, I’d love to see a little refresh on some of the furniture. Our table was sticky and worn—not in a charming, timeworn way, but in a “maybe this needs a wipe or a fresh epoxy coat” kind of way. If that lived-in vibe is part of the theme, no problem, just keep it feeling clean and intentional. Also the 'free' stuff outside does not look nice or inviting. Service: It’s counter-order, pick-up-at-the-window, and bus-your-own-table style. I actually love this approach when it’s clearly communicated, and it fits the casual, community-forward concept. My only note: when there’s minimal interaction and guests do most of the work, consider pausing the tip prompts, tip jars, and top signs. It feels a little mismatched, especially when tables might not be as clean as expected. Food: Now for the real star, the food. I had the fish and chips, and they were outstanding. Easily some of the best I’ve had in the state. The fish was perfectly cooked, and I loved the unexpected curry twist paired with roasted root vegetables. It was a creative and comforting take on a classic. The only miss for me was the side of greens. I wasn’t sure if it was meant to be a salad or a slaw; it was shredded, raw, swimming in vinaigrette, and didn’t quite complement the warm, hearty flavors of the main dish. A bit more balance or a rethink of that element would elevate the plate even further. Overall: This is a solid 4-star spot with a lot of heart. It’s rooted in community, filled with personality, and offers thoughtfully prepared food with a distinct Alaskan flair. I’ll absolutely be back, and I look forward to updating this review as they continue to grow and refine the experience.
I take-out ordered a Fat Jack (fried veggie quesadilla) and asked for no onion in my order because I am onion-intolerant, they make me very sick. They didn't put any onion in the quesadilla however unfortunately it did come smothered in pico which had lots of raw onion, and it spilled all into the beans so I couldn't eat the beans sadly. I was able to scrape the pico off the outside of the veggie quesadilla though and it was very delicious, the roasted veggies had great flavor. I hadn't heard of this place before, I'll have to come again when I can spend more time browsing the market.
