My husband and I had the pleasure of our first experience here last night. We enjoyed cocktails, the pork belly and the blue lump crab gumbo appetizers. Both were delicious, but the star of the show was the strawberry souffle! It was one of the best desserts I've ever had! Was it a bit pricey? Yes, but it was well worth the investment! Also, we can't say enough about our bartender and server, Amber. She was a delight! So sweet, and she gave us the scoop on severall hot spots, as well as a couple hidden gems to check out during our stay!
Reserved a seat here on a whim for my birthday and wow was I blown away. From the beginning, Garret our server, was down to earth, extremely knowledgeable about the menu and ingredients being served, funny, and professional. The food, oh man the food, from the bread and dip, to the ceviche and tortilla soup, and finally to the entrees of short rib ragu and New York strip, it was immaculate and delicious. The mixed drinks were also spot on as well as offering mocktails on the menu which my pregnant wife appreciated. We definitely recommend this place to anyone searching for a fine dining experience with the food to match. Can’t wait to come back again!
Absolutely amazing food, service, and ambiance. If you visit South Padre Island, Texas, you should absolutely eat here. You will not be disappointed. It may seem a bit pricey, but so worth it. It was an wonderful date night with my wife.
Thank you so much to this place for giving me and my fiance a great dinner. Especially our waiter STEVEN highly recommend awesome guy. This place feels luxurious and family oriented, so hard to find places like this definitely coming back for our 1 year engagement thank you F&B. !
Me and my hubbys favorite place on the island. Sheldon the bartender treats us like family and is always kind and attentive. The food is soooooo gooooood and its bright and beautiful . The whole place vibe is on point and the service is so good they are kind, professional and sweet people we love it here and highly recommend
We had a great experience. Food was excellent, especially the salt crusted snapper. Our waiter was thorough and attentive. Staff flowed well around each other, touching each table to ensure that all guest were well taken care of.
Visiting a friend in town and he spoke very highly of this establishment after coming here for many years. It did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived with a warm and friendly greeting to being seated promptly. Our server Steve was a true professional… friendly, knowledgeable and invested in our dining experience. Having been with this establishment since its inception is a testament to a well run “front of the house”. Then there is the food. Completely surpassing our expectations. Simply the Best on the Island. Hands down. Come and see and taste for yourself. Enjoy!👍🍽️🍷
We visited F&B in South Padre last year and loved it so much that we made sure to come back again during this trip — and it was just as amazing! The service, both then and now, was absolutely top-notch. This time our server was Janette she was amazing! This time I tried the filet mignon tartare for the first time, and it was incredible — it literally melted in my mouth. For my main course, I had the duck, which you can never go wrong with, and we finished off with a rich, delicious chocolate mousse. Everything from the atmosphere to the food and service was perfect. Highly recommend this place — it’s definitely one of our favorites in South Padre!
We visited this place over a year ago. The service was truly exceptional! Better than we had at some Michelin star restaurants. We are back enjoying South Padre and decided to go see if our best server Brendon is still there. We were so lucky to get to see him again. He is a manager now! We were not surprised he was promoted, since his dedication and attention to detail exceeds most people’s work ethic. Also, thank you, Janette, for taking an amazing care of us this evening! Next time we’re in town, we’ll be back!
We had the most wonderful experience here. Best food on the island by far. Amber was our bartender and was so great. She made fantastic suggestions! We got oysters (they were from PEI and not the gulf) and they were so good! We also got the rack of lamb which was probably the best meal we have ever had. Everything was cooked so perfectly. I got the seafood pasta which was also great, but we both liked the lamb better! We had such a great time, we came back a second time and got the filet and short rib pappardelle. Both again were phenomenal. Definitely make a stop here to get some good food while visiting. We will most definitely we back!
F&B has become a must-visit when we go to SPI. The food is fantastic, the service above and beyond, and the atmosphere wonderful. We celebrated my wife's birthday here on our last trip, and everything was excellent, as usual. Marlene has taken care of us the last couple of times and is so incredibly helpful and attentive. We've had the Seafood Risotto and Short Rib Ragu multiple times, and they're both consistently delicious. I loved the Duck Confit & Poached Pear Salad from our first time but haven't seen it since. Who knew duck and candied walnuts were an amazing pair? I didn't. Mussels & Saffron were great on our most recent trip. I'd recommend the side of garlic spinach over the carrots. Cocktails have all been great, especially my gin martinis, which not every place gets right. Excellent selection of quality wines. F&B is expensive, but it's a top-notch dining experience. We'll continue going whenever we're on the island. They really do have a passion for food, drinks, and hospitality.
Superb service and meal. We went out to celebrate my birthday and recent engagement it did not disappoint! The buratta salad , duck and lamb were amazing. Not to mention they made things wonderful for my special day and our amazing waiter even took a picture of us outside after dinner! We will be back so great!!!
My husband and I recently dined at F&B South Padre, and it was a truly unforgettable experience. From the elegant décor to the exceptional service, everything was top-notch. The dishes were not only beautifully presented but also bursting with flavor, making every bite a delight. And let’s not forget the cocktails - absolutely amazing! A huge thank you to Randy for the fantastic recommendations and outstanding service. This was a memorable dining experience, and I can’t wait to come back!
We went as a family group, including my grandson celebrating his first birthday. We made early reservations, and they went above and beyond accommodated our every need . The food was as best as we've had with a salt crusted bronzino done tableside. Every dish and every cocktail made to perfection. I'd like to make one note this is a fine dining establishment. we went there with a toddler, hence the early reservation. We also had a game plan on what to do in case he became irritated. We did not want to disturb other diners .
We came here to try the espresso martini. We had the shrimp ceviche which was outstanding. Sheldon was attentive and friendly behind the bar. She also gave us a killer recommendation for when we were going to Corpus Christi Bay which she was right about. We definitely will come back for dinner next time that we are at SPI. The espresso martini was not my favorite but it was good.
We had truly one of the best meals I’ve had in years. From the hostess to the food runners, all of the staff was welcoming and professional. This is a family owned business with the chef/owner and his wine professional wife running an expert show. On an island where one is often hard pressed to find any offerings that are not breaded and fried, the menu was delightful. My mother had scallops with vegetables on a pea shoot puree and I had smoked duck breast with heirloom mushrooms and root vegetables on a sweet potato puree. We were graced with some kitchen treats including a silky, earthy cauliflower soup topped with in season white truffles and handmade raviolis in a mushroom cream sauce with a balsamic drizzle. For dessert, I had the best panna cotta that I’ve ever had. It was light, silky and just the right amount of sweet served in a light berry “soup.” Truly delicious. Their wine service and list was impressive, thanks to Brandi. I had not seen a white port on a menu in several years so had that as my aperitif. A lovely bottle of Santa Barbara Pinot Noir paired well with the duck. Our wait staff was friendly and attentive and we were surprised to see one of our servers who had been our waiter at a separate place for our first lunch on the island. We had a simply wonderful evening and would not miss another visit when we return to the island.
Great experience! Our server Brandon was amazing and helpful. Atmosphere matched the island, food was great, drinks spot on and they made our anniversary an amazing experience. Served us glasses of champagne and a cookie with a candle to celebrate! Was honestly surprised to find such great service in a vacation spot that needs to catch up with the times. Will definitely revisit one day. Thanks Brandon!
Our server was great although he had another customer with a long list of allergies that delayed service with us. We ended up ordering the tomatoes & burrata salad and artichoke & mushroom salad. Both were much bigger and more filling than we expected. Very tasty, great flavors, very fresh ingredients. My wife and I ordered the Salted Red Snapper (medium sized ~2.5 lb whole fish) because we’d never tried something like that before and we wanted to eat seafood. It’s cooked in a shell of salt, Parmesan, and other spices. Broken out and filleted tableside, the fish was served with a blood orange sauce which was our favorite part. Our son liked the fish without the sauce.
Interesting restaurant. Generally speaking, I liked it. The restaurant temperature was cold, but they did adjust the temp upon request. I started with a seasonal pasta of pasta with parmesan, butter, and white truffle. I had just had this dish in Boston a few days earlier. I liked this restaurants version much better. But I think it largely had to do with the truffle type. The entre was a seafood risotto. Nice flavors, but the risotto was far too watery. A major faux pas with risotto. I enjoyed the waitress who was attentive but not hovering. Good job!
We dined at F&B on New Year’s Eve 2025. It was a +/- experience. First, Marlene was our waitress, she was awesome! One of the best service experiences we’ve had in years! Hustle is her middle name… thank you ma’am, you made the evening! The menu was a chef’s selection 4 course menu, with options for each course. We opted for the wine pairings with each course. The restaurant was decked out with New Year’s regalia… with balloons, hats, noise makers, at every table… really fun atmosphere! All the staff were decked out fancy, looked great! For our first course, we selected lobster bisque mushroom soup. The mushroom soup was divine, absolutely fabulous. The lobster bisque was sub-par… while plentiful, the lobster was not fresh, tasted very fishy. The second course of the seafood medley and venison bites was equally Jekyll and Hyde! Venison, superb, tender, cooked perfectly, tasted great. The seafood medley, all super fishy … not fresh! Crab claws mushy too, obviously frozen prior. Oysters pitifully small and warm. Shrimp, while cold, were very fishy and mushy, as if previously frozen. No bueno! Our third course was the surf/turf and Akashi short rib ragout. The turf was awesome, best steak we’ve had in years! The lobster … pitiful, small, overcooked, tough and fishy! Disgusting! The ragout was good, but we’re not sure why chef’s make beef dishes sweet … good beef stands on its own, no need to over season! Not a well conceived dish… Our final course was the chocolate soufflé and lemon cake … both were terrific! The soufflé with Chantilly cream and whipped cream was very good. The star dessert was the lemon cake with fresh fruit! Light and airy cake, the fruit was to die for. Delicious! The wind pairings were good, although some of the selections were “tired” favs, like “The Prisoner”… IMHO. Such a good wine list at F&B, the pairings were disappointing! The staff whisked away a 1/2 finished pre-dinner martini, which Marlene graciously replaced! When you spend $500+ on dinner for two, even a special evening, the restaurant should deliver. F&B did not meet the standard on New Year’s Eve. We won’t be back this trip..,
Saw all the great reviews regarding the great service and great food, and we decided to celebrate our anniversary here. But for us, it was only great food and so so service from our waiter. The food was delicious and was cooked great for our taste, and the bread was a great snack to enjoy during the wait. Our waiter didn't seem happy to be attending to us and lacked any emotion to make us feel welcomed. He only checked on us when I flagged him down, and he circled us 5 times and didn't acknowledge us even with not many tables being full. The gentlemen bringing out the food made us feel welcome more than our own waiter. Then to be told they don't have any dessert for anniversary because of no pastry chef broke my wife's heart and I called Liams Steakhouse minutes before closing and they were able to take us in and feel welcomed with a great Happy Anniversary Dessert.
