It's such a great place. Every dish I have tried here has been amazing. The yellow prawn is to die for! We always get the family-style special because we like to share the different dishes. Their broccoli beef is the best I've had—so tender and delicious. Mongolian beef is Amazing—sweet with a little heat.

I live in Queens and I always go to Ancient Ginger whenever I'm in Smithtown. Their food is fresh and many of the healthy options are our favorites. The owner is always very welcoming, the staff is very polite and the prices are reasonable.

We had dinner at my favorite restaurant ancient ginger last night. The food was amazing, and all the ingredients were fresh. My favorites are the cold sesame noodles, egg rolls, and fried shrimp dipped in a sweet and spicy sauce. The most popular dish is the dumplings.

UPDATED*** changed back to my old 5 STAR. new post. To note all as was before my not so good review. Nice place to sit and have a nice meal. On a side note I never order anything breaded and fried. But my husband is wild over the Shanghai pork chops. So sorry to report that my favorite sit down Chinese restaurant has been terrible in the past year. I gave a few more tries but last take out went in the garbage. What happened? Is there new ownership? new kitchen staff? Even the soup was terrible. Please look at the next door site, it is just not me. Please let us know if anything changes.

Ancient Ginger has the BEST pork dumplings on the island. These dumplings have the most incredible flavor you could ask for in a dumpling. Aside from the flavor, the authenticity of these dumplings is unmatched. As someone who has had dumplings from many Chinese food places, I truly believe that each dumpling from Ancient Ginger is crafted with the utmost mastery. The wrapping is not the thick, flour mass that you get as most places around here; it is thin, light and carries the flavor of the filling beautifully. My friends and family all agree as well. There have been numerous occasions where I’ve ordered only dumplings for family and friends and they were absolutely blown away. The price is RIGHT too! You can get an order for $6.50 and it is 100% worth it! Ancient ginger’s dumplings should not take away from how delicious their food is. My family asks to order out at least once a week. This is just really good Chinese food. I’m not even kidding, I don’t write reviews but I truly believe this place deserves it after all the nights it has come in clutch for either me, my family, or best friends. The staff is so polite, and the service is lovely. Of all the Chinese food places I’ve tried on the island over the past twenty years, Ancient Ginger will ALWAYS be at the top. I’ve challenged friends to find a place on LI with better dumplings and I now challenge YOU. If you are on the fence about ordering from here today/tonight, read no further and call now. You will not regret it!

Food was good,but had unfortunately experience with delivery driver. He was very rude saying a $2.80 tip wasn’t enough for a $16.00 order that was a 5 minute drive down the block. Told me to order pickup next time because apparently that is not enough money. Edit: The man over the phone was very nice and apologized for the situation :)

Absolutely inedible! Ordered boneless spare ribs. The meat was like rubber. The egg roll was dripping in oil. Ill never eat here again

I had a really disappointing experience with this place. I placed a delivery order and was misled about the prices what I was charged did not match what was advertised. I tried to order a combo to save money, but they wouldn’t let me and lied about having it on menu, which forced me to spend more than I intended. On top of that, the staff was extremely rude throughout the process. They pressured me to tip and reacted unprofessionally when I didn’t tip as much as they expected. For a place that’s supposed to offer good service, this was unacceptable. I will not be ordering from here again and do not recommend this business to others.Save your money

Extremely rude staff! They actually told me my order wasn’t worth them delivering because i didn’t tip them enough. They also charge us $1.50 EXTRA because we don’t eat pork and wanted vegetable fried rice instead of PFR. I can’t tell you the level of rudeness from staff and in all honesty the food isn’t that great at all! We all had headaches afterwards. Go to commack! Much better service and healthier place.

The portions for the meals are small and padded with filler. Lots of onions and vegetables and little meat. I ordered scallions with my meal and received mostly onions. There was very little beef but, if I have not said it, there were mostly onions. I do not recommend this place if you want actual meals. If you wants small portions with lots of filler, then this place is for you.
