This place was amazing. The shrimp and oyster table was great. The Thanksgiving buffet had everything plus Lobster Mac & Cheese. The Prime Rib and Turkey carving station. They had a great Charcuterie table with every kind of cheese, meat and vegetables. The desert table was to die for. You could make your own Bloody Mary and Mimosas. All the staff was very helpful and extra friendly. I recommend using the Valet.
We really loved this restaurant. The service, food and cocktails were all great. The menu is small, which I prefer. I'd rather eat somewhere with a small group of items they do really well than a large menu that's less thoughtful. I highly recommend the scallops, Brussels sprouts and semifreddo. All were excellent. Our server was really helpful in giving recommendations and all were superb. It's also really convenient if you're staying at the Cheshire.
The dining experience was first class. The environment is visually beautiful with an old world elegance styled with modern lighting and decor that instantly makes you excited for what's to come next. Our wait staff were excellent, fun, and knowledgable about the dishes. Our partners chose Boundary after the ladies lost a bet at Top Golf, but honestly I feel like we won too! The food was presented beautifully and served at the appropriate temp. We are smitten with this place and highly recommend it to anyone who longs for a true "dining experience"!
Good food, excellent service and drinks! I can’t wait until it’s open again!
Nashville hot chicken Benedict was amazing. Great service & live jazz made for a great brunch.
Boundary has a great atmosphere and good entrees. I am not a drinker but the bar looked like it had a large selection.
Superior. I gotta confess, I’m no foodie. But dang, the red snapper, with the crunchy outer crust was the best. Great service (Sean), the chef (Nick), and even the manager (Alex) all greeted us at one time or another. Great beer too!
Mouth watering food topped only by the truly professional, personable, and knowledgeable waitstaff. Our server, Justin, was a delight and made my husband and I feel so welcome, as if we were old friends. We cannot sing his praises enough and will definitely be back to visit both Justin and Boundary. Highly recommended. Also, for food recommendation, their scallops and the filet were gorgeous and extremely delicious.
I love this place so much! Some might call me a "regular." The food is always delicious and made with care and expertise. I also really enjoy the switch up with the new brunch menu. The spreads on the "speciality" brunches (Mother's Day, Easter Sunday, etc.) are absolutely magnificent, and well worth the price. Above all, the staff is the icing on the cake every time I visit. Stellar bartenders, servers, bussers, and back of the house crew. I'd recommend Boundary any time!
Excellent food and drinks. 3 out of 4 of us ordered the burger. It was really good. My husband ordered the Black Fig cocktail and I had ordered the Irish Angel, which was good, but not nearly as great as the Black Fig. Good service, good drinks, good food.
Had mother's day breakfast. Prices were not unreasonable, 4 of us between $14 - $16 each. Great coffee. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I had the royal eggs. Excellent and filling. Wife had pancakes with fruit and couldn't finish. Would go back.
Great food! We went the day before Valentine's Day. The food and service were both excellent. I had the filet mignon, which was awesome, juicy and cooked exactly how I asked (which is a little unusual). My wife had the stuffed meatloaf, which was also wonderful. Additionally, the charbroiled oysters were excellent as was our other appetizer with chorizo sausage. As for desserts (which are really important for my wife), she really enjoyed the moist carrot cake and the rich strawberry cheesecake (and so did I). We will be back for sure.
This place is expensive for St. Louis...I'll start with that. Ordered: prime rib + black kale salad (loved every bite. medium really was medium.) premium tasting menu regular tasting menu The whole thing was pretty amazing, service great. Price Per person was around $65 with wine, entree, tip.
Bottomless Bloody Mary's are probably too good. The combination of football and live jazz is weird but strangely appreciated. Everybody appears to be in good spirits. The food is tasty and hot, slightly upscale but not overly expensive.
We went for the Thanksgiving buffet and everything was incredible. It was very noisy but given that it was a holiday it wasn't unreasonable. The staff was very quick to offer help and recommendations which is always nice when there are so many options. I am looking forward to coming back for a "regular" meal!
I had lunch last week with some of my colleagues and everything was SO good! We ordered two starters- the Toasted Raviolis and the Dancing Poutine. I love to see different restaurants' take on Toasted Ravs, and they were so scrumptious. Came out hot and fresh, and were melt-in-your-mouth perfect. The Dancing Poutine was the showpiece of the whole meal and had our whole table oooo-ing and awww-ing over it. Super cool presentation with the Bonito Flakes re-hydrating and moving (dancing, hence the name) on the plate. And the entire Poutine dish was perfection. I always have a salad for lunch, so I got the Grilled Chicken salad, and it was delicious. The chicken had a smoky flavor and was super juicy- cooked to perfection. It was dressed perfectly and just the right portion. Our service from start to finish was awesome- we were greeted by a super friendly bartender as soon as we walked in, and escorted to a table (they gave us a choice, since we were a larger group). Our server was Jay, and he was the perfect mix of knowledgeable, personable, friendly, and attentive without being intrusive at all. Highly recommend the food and the service at Boundary!
Great Absinthe bar. The barkeep was very well rounded and had many recommendations for other Absinthe bars in the US. The preparation and presentation of our cocktails was quite entertaining, just as expected. Note to the novice, Absinthe has a black licorice flavor, but they do a good job at toning it down with several cocktail options. Enjoy!
My wife and I went to Boundary for my birthday. From the minute we walked in the door, the staff was very friendly and attentive. Our server was great! She was extremely knowledgeable and had fun. I ordered the beef brisket and my wife got the scallops. We were both very impressed with the taste. I actually felt that the beef brisket was one of the best that I've ever had and we've eaten all over the country. I kept telling my wife that it was the best I've ever had. After dinner, our server brought a slice of some sort of lemon cake out for my birthday. I can't remember exactly what it was but it was great! From the atmosphere to the service to the food, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to family and friends. The Cheshire and Boundary do a great job of training their staff. The entire experience was great including the guys that did the valet parking. I'm glad we selected this spot for my birthday. We'll definitely be back.
What a completely hidden gem!! We loved our visit there. The food was amazing. We loved the scallops, which were perfectly prepared and served with unique and delicious sides. The macaroni and cheese was perfect, creamy and rich with a great salty tang. Wide variety of cocktail options and the bartender was incredibly kind, personable, and knowledgeable. We can't wait to go back.
Thanksgiving dinner was amazing. First the atmosphere was lovely. The lights were dim which allow the dinner to feel very intimate. The buffet tables were laid out perfectly: there was one main buffet area and four other tables with cheeses, meats, seafood, and all kinds of desserts. Secondly, the service was amazing. Upon being seated, our waitress came over to our table immediately with water and to take our drink orders, which was included with the meal. Anytime we finished a plate or needed drink refills, it was done before we could even ask. My two children enjoyed every bit of the food, especially because of the variety. This was my first time ever going out for Thanksgiving, which may now become a new tradition.
I booked a Christmas dinner with some friends. When we drove up, I saw a valet sign, it turns out that it is complimentary which was really great - this really helps with wet weather. The space is beautiful. It looks pretty similar to the former "The Restaurant" but with overall hipper ambiance. When we got it, my friends were already seated at our table, a wonderful, heavy round table near the kitchen. There were a lot of people there, the fireplace was going and it was an excellent setting. The menu consists of mainly elevated comfort food. They have some salads but the good stuff is all fairly gluttonous. Our server was really excellent, we didn't wait for anything. The food was really good, we all ordered some different things and everyone was happy with their meal. It is a beautiful space, great food, and service, and I look forward to going back. Apart from a large gathering – some of yah list items are: Pros: 1) Happy Hour Specials 4-6pm 2) Poutine. It comes with a Fried Egg! And very large to share 3) Oyster Rockefeller - love the creamy kale 4) Mac n. Cheese Side 5) Cocktails Overall, they have a solid selection of cocktails, beer and wine. If you like Basso then give Boundary a try on your next outing.
Sometimes getting a seat at one of the many great Clayton locations for lunch can be challenging. After going past 3 that had lines out the door, we ended up giving brunch at Boundary a try. It was outstanding. Great location and the food was definitely a hit. I had the ricotta buttermilk pancakes and really wanted more. Live jazz music completed what was a great visit. We ended up going back 2 weeks later without even trying anywhere else as the food was that good. And the mimosa and Bloody Mary bars are almost worth it by themselves.
I want to start by saying before we went here for the first time, I had some doubts due to the mixed reviews but it was definitely a great experience and we'll likely be back for future celebrations! Food was delicious. Service was great. Great beer and wine selection. Yeah it's a little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it! the atmosphere is relaxed and romantic and the perfect place to celebrate a special event!
Chicken and waffles for brunch were on point! I don’t like bloody Mary’s but the bar looked amazing! We were seated in the back which was a little dark but overall very enjoyable! And you can’t go wrong with Kaldis coffee
Good food. My group enjoyed a few of the starters. The Lollipop Wings were great. Some people with me had Sourdough Bruschetta and said they almost felt full from that! The waitress was very nice and did her best but there was a large party there while we were so there were some gaps where we didn't see her at all. But she kept us in refills and was knowledgeable about the menu. All in all a good experience. Parking lot is terrible and finding the restaurant or a place to park if you aren't familiar with the area is worse. So be careful of that.
Food was tasty, drink menu extensive, and our waitress was sweet and attentive. The restaurant was a little loud, even on a Wednesday night, to nurse my daughter. When I asked the hostess if a quieter space was available, even a dark unused corner, I was guided to the women's bathroom...where the toilet is the only place to sit. A chair, any kind of chair, in the women's room could go a long way for the mothers that dine.
Our food was very delicious! We split the hanger steak but dont order fries. We paired with roasted veggies that were amazing! We also split the sea scallops on too of corn quinoa cheesy! ...both of these dishes paired together were so yummy! As for as the hostess lol.. we had reservations at 7pm and we arrived on time & she sat us at this little two too table on the very end of a booth by kitchen when place was empty! We asked to sit at a four top by fireplace... hostess was clueless... our server didn’t know menu or even tried dishes... but over service was good... drinks were good as well.
Food ,service and atmosphere was very good. Had wedding upstairs that was very loud. The roasted oysters were fabulous. The scallops were nicely cooked and charred. Not fan of the risotto but usually don’t like risotto anyway.
Great location and great design, this restaurant is both classic and modern all at once. A very good lunch spot for a work lunch or upscale friends or family gathering. For dinner, the bar area and diverse beverage selection is a great way to start an evening. Food is good to excellent, but I've had occasionally bumpy service. Evening valet parking is very easy. Also, you can walk to Basso (in basement) or Fox and Hounds (in hotel) for a drink after dinner. Hotel guests and members can retire to the private cigar lounge on property, which is also a great addition. Very nice to have The Cheshire back to greatness!
We made a last-minute Valentine's Day reservation at Boundary. We loved the look of the space, and we had a wonderful server. We split raw oysters, a salad, a burger, the brussel sprouts, and the white chocolate panna cotta. We were impressed with everything aside from the burger. It wasn't bad, just a little overcooked and kind of mediocre. The salad (with a "jammy" egg on top) was delicious! But the panna cotta was just the best! I also had a great, tasty cocktail and wine. We'll be back for sure, and I look forward to dropping in for a drink from time to time.
Great new place...a little expensive for what you get. Ordered shrimp cocktail which was great except only receive 4 shrimp for around $20. Otherwise great atmosphere and good selection of wine and drinks. We did not eat dinner here but appetizers were tasty.
Some of the reviews about chased us off. I'm glad we stayed. The coffee was excellent and the atmosphere was relaxing. The food and service were really good. It's not my favorite in town, but it's certainly a solid choice.
Absolutely adored this place. It's amazing for decor and general atmosphere. We got there 10 minutes before they opened and they were kind enough to seat us and serve us immediately. The service was great and the food surprised me. We had a hard time choosing between a number of delicious sounding dishes, so we each ordered one of those dishes and took a bite of everything. I think my own meal surprised me the most. I ordered what could have been a run of the mill Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. But it was better than every other similar chicken sandwich I've ever had (and that's saying something). Very, very good. I'd absolutely go back.
#alcohol The drink selection is amazing. I happened to try a new seasonal blend, it was freaking delicious. Their fries are some of the best I've had, we personally know the owner, great guy, great staff. sometimes they have live music. Somewhat pricey, but worth every cent. I would recommend it as a place to eat on special occasions, or even the weekends.
Great for brunch, I repeat great for brunch but the lunch menu leaves much to be desired. The decor is gorgeous. Super swanky feel that is really well done except the lighting. It's way too dark in there. The ambiance would be enhanced so much but a little light. That's the only reason I'm not 5 stars
Bloody Marys are fabulous! Food was delicious, although not quite "hot" when it was served. Wasn't cold, but wasn't hot either, that's the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. We were a party of 10, I'm sure that was a factor. Service was very good as well.
Many good features, but surprisingly... ...While the large, well-appointed room was lovely and the staff was very nice, the food was decidedly mediocre. We ordered three brunch items: the blueberry pancakes, the ozark mushroom omelette, and the brisket hash. The blueberry pancakes were the best at "pretty good" - crispy ends, covered in lemon curd, no need for syrup. While St. Louis knows and loves its Ozark mushrooms, the omelette somehow lacked taste. Even with goat cheese & caramelized onions it didn't have a lot of flavor (I don't typically add salt to food but had to in this case) and the texture was on the rubbery side. It came with a "fresh salad" that had both the look and taste of Dole bagged salad: a little bland and sad. We let our server know this. She was attentive and offered to replace it with another side, but at that point we weren't interested in more of this food because, lastly, the hash. St. Louis knows brisket, which is why the tough cubed chunks of meat and very well-cooked squash were a bit of a surprise. Slow-cooked or well-bbqed brisket doesn't cut into cubes that way or taste that way. The coffee was good and our fellow customers seemed very pleased with the bottomless mimosas and bloody marys.
Attended the Thanksgiving buffet... just two of us and we were seated in a corner. We felt crammed in and we had to bob an weave thru a packed dining room to get from our table to the buffet. There we just too many tables in our area of the restaurant. The server did not initially see us and she skipped over us for drinks several times, again I think where we were seated worked against us. The prime rib was excellent, there were some tasty items at the charcuterie and my son loved the oysters but everything else was underwhelming. I would like to go back for dinner sometime as I think place would normally have a great vibe but I would rather spend a bit more for a better holiday experience.
Its really hard to give them a 3 but there are a few reasons. We've been few times just the 2 of us, but also large groups. This is the 1st time I have to make a not so good review. I would have done it in person but no one was around when we left. We went Sunday for February Birthday's in the family. 1. Before I made the reservations I called and asked if they can accommodate a vegan. They said "sure, we have a few things." .....2 hours before our reservations the hostess calls and says "i was told to call you and tell you we only have fruit & muffins" for vegan..... guess what!!! They did make a vegan hash for my step daughter that was good and no issues. So why do call and make the hostess do that? Also 2. When I called and made the reservations for 130 for Sunday brunch they had no problem, when she called about the above they also said the kitchen closes at 2 and would be best for us to out our order in as soon as we got there. Well, guess what again, the waitress didn't get our order in till almost 2. With that being said our waitress was really nice but there was a food mix up on a few plates, easily corrected but still. I did apologize to the hostess as I was very upset and frustrated with the phone call 2 hours before. When it wasn't her fault, I'd like to know why the manager or whoever asked her to call and make a big deal out of something to the customer 2 hours before a large party. It really made us feel like we weren't welcome and we were a bother. I'm sure we will be here again but NOT with a group with a few hundred dollar bill.
A very warm, trendy and well-appointed place inside. Great atmosphere as well. Parking was very limited and annoying - no spaces except for the valet - adding unexpected costs to a happy hour gathering. Large selection of wines, but lacking in selection of hard liquors - they were out of liquor for 2 of the cocktails that we ordered. Decided to try their Hand-Shelled Prawns. I waited in anticipation for the large, succulent crustaceans. When I saw what actually was served to me, I was stunned. This was a complete failure. These “prawns” were almost as large as the smallest shrimp you could find in the supermarket. And they have the gall to charge $2 for each minuscule piece. Extremely disappointed and let down that such a nice place would deceive it’s customers like this and serve such worthless bait. They sure make it sound high-end (hand-shelled prawns) but they actually served me low-end (baby shrimp). After experiencing such a disappointing appetizer, I see no compelling reason to return.
The food was delicious, but the service was sub par. We waited for an incredibly long time to get our waters refilled, and in general they were not engaged when we arrived or when ordering. I literally had to place my plate and glasses on the bar when the server had not come by to clear our plates for over a half hour. Had to wait also an incredibly long time to get the check, and had to ask for it to be brought. Never really looked us in the eye when speaking, which was odd for an experience with a waiter. 3 stars solely for food quality.
Honestly the menu was so limited i thought for sure there would be 2-3 specials. No, not one. The entire menu could fit on an index card. When asking the server about how the menu items were prepared she could only repeat exactly what was on the menu description. If I remember correctly the choices were 2 steaks, 2 seafood, 1 pasta a pork chop and a burger. Out of the handful of entries I chose the burger and and the French onion soup. When I told the server the soup was salty she simply told me to ENJOY! Burger was okay, drinks were okay, service okay. Expected much better from the Cheshire
Seated promptly. Wait staff polite and speedy. Food, not good. Oysters Rockefeller had Anise of all things on them. Who would ruin that light oyster flavor and overpower it with Anise, disgusting. I had one of the specials, Striped Bass, cooked well enough but absolutely NO flavor, served with a dip on the side of soy and ginger but it tasted awful, almost bitter. Others said Brisket was good, another had Scallops (2) looked overcooked to me but was told they were okay. I wouldn't go back there--high prices for so-so food
Servers were not knowledgeable about wines/ wine selection or even the food come to think of it. Paying high dollar for food and drinks i expect confident factual information. My husband enjoyed his meal(lamb chop special) the mac and cheese was amazing. My scallops were delicious but i got served 2 .. Really? Would have been fine if they were not a top cewy uncooked rice .. pretty disappointed.
The cleanest thing that came out of that kitchen was the 3 day old newspaper my soggy fish and chips were served on. Sat across from the kitchen, watched the guy cooking my fries and fish remove his hat, scratch his hair and then pick up a hand full of fries for the fryer. I watched him drop a pair of tongs on the floor and then use them to pick up my fish and chips. Call me a germaphobe, but watching everyone in the kitchen touching their hair, rubbing their beard, using their cell phones, rubbing their nose, all without gloves and then handling food without washing their hands is disgusting. All of this aside, I tried to give the food a chance. The fries were undercooked, and the batter on the fish was too thick, still raw on the inside as can be seen in the picture I attached. The wine selection is dreadful. There was an off-putting fishy smell I noticed as soon as I walked past the bar. If not for a great waitress I would not feel comfortable giving even 1 star.
I've lived in St Louis for three years and this is the worst food I've ever eaten at a restaurant. I got the Boundary Burger and my husband got the Joan Benedict. The burger consisted of a thin patty with a slice of cheese, tomato and lettuce. There was no seasoning at all on the burger, and it left a watery mess for the two bites I took. The Joan Benedict had no flavor; the hollandaise was bland and the home fries did not even have salt. The overwhelming flavor was cooking grease. My husband and I left after two bites of the food and paid 62$ for this privilege. After speaking with the manager, he could only offer a gift certificate for a future meal which we were not interested in at all. As this was Easter Brunch it was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Was very disappointed in our experience here. The service was poor and everyone rushed around like they were inexperienced with being busy. The food was also very disappointing. I had the scallops with risotto. The risotto was NOT risotto. It was watery rice with little flavor. It was not the light, smooth, buttery consistency of risotto. The scallops were 2 and overcooked. The portion was very small and overpriced. We waited a long time before anyone even said hello to us. We were brought our bill without being asked if we would like dessert or anything else. I will not be returning to The Boundary. They need an overhaul!!!
My fiancé and I made reservations for Easter brunch. We arrived 20 minutes early. There were several couples that arrived after us with the same reservation time. When our reservation time arrived the hostess sat everyone who arrived after us. Then we were finally seated the hostess sat us in the middle of the mimosa bar isolated from everyone else. My fiancé asked another staff if we could be moved. The staff refused. The staff overall was rude and unaccommodating. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who expects good customer service. I was highly disappointed. My fiancé left without eating because the service was so terrible. If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would.
We made a reservation more than a month before Thanksgiving for a party of three for 1:30 pm. When we arrived the hostess found our reservation and immediately took us to the bar. I questioned why we were being seated in the bar, not the dining room, and was told there was no sitting in the dining room and that they were using every available seat. I explained we had made a reservation with many weeks in advance and were expected to be seated in the dining room. She went to a manager who told us the same thing. I explained if we had known the reservation for Thanksgiving dinner would be in a bar we would have made another arrangement as it was not a reasonable expectation when making a reservation. (Had I not had a reservation then perhaps the bar would be a compromise option). He was very unsympathetic and said he could try to seat us in the dining room at 3:00 pm and we explained this was an unacceptable solution. If you make a reservation as this place you'd better get assurances when you make the reservation that you will be seated in the restaurants dining room. I would suggest you take a pass on the Boundary and find a fine restaurant that is interested in customer satisfaction more than optimizing their seating.
Pretentious overpriced food. Very poor service. Sat down and waited to order drinks. We were just about to leave when the server finally showed up. Waited ten more minutes for the actual drinks. Food was acceptable but mediocre. Appetizers arrived with the food. The worst thing was that there was a big noisy Christmas party going on in the adjacent room with no wall in between. We were unable to carry on a conversation.
