We love Mexican food and have been to several places across the states. This rates with the best of them… fresh made, good service, good taste, just the right amount of heat. Liked the Fajita Volcan. Don’t the outside fool you. Worth the drive. Very casual. Good prices.
This is LITERALLY the BEST Mexican restaurant I've ever eaten at!!! Super delicious and so much FLAVOR! and their shredded chicken is so juicy and flavorful at the same time and the beans and rice are the best I've ever had! Queso is amazing and so is their salsa! My new favorite spot 😊
Geo, our waiter seated us and greeted us with a smile and our entire experience got better and better Food was excellent atmosphere was great and the service was 10 stars not 5. This family run restaurant is the best thing to happen in Sumner Iowa. In 100 years. 💯 I will go back every time I'm in town.
El Encanto is an amazing addition to Sumner. Food is excellent and the staff continues to get better each time we eat here. Would recommend 100%.
This is a great addition to Sumner. The outdoor courtyard with the fire pit and bar sets a welcoming atmosphere that Sumner needed. The food has been delicious, drinks as well. Service has been rocky but it has improved every time I’ve returned. Be prepared to take home food because the servings are very generous making the cost worth while.
The food is good and portion sizes are great. Serive is sometimes lacking but the staff are friendly.
Good place for a traditional Mexican meal. We ordered cheese dip with our chips and salsa and while tasty, it was cold. We ordered several items - fajitas, chimichangas and tacos/quesadillas. All were very good and plenty of food. Appreciated having the option of a smaller “lunch” portion even at dinner time. Atmosphere was good for a small place but tables are quite close together so a little loud when busy. Service was attentive but hard to track who was our server as we had several folks stop by our table. No complaints and would definitely visit again.
The food was amazing! We were served and then left alone, and realized at the end we needed to go to the counter to pay, and I think we could've gotten our own refills, but we didn't know. A little more communication and it would've been perfect
Staff was friendly. Ordered takeout. Portions were small. I ordered a chicken quessadilla and it was a 10 inch tortilla folded, all chicken, barely any cheese with no other ingrediants. I didnt get any sides. No salsa. No sour creme. $13 dollars which is supposed to come with sides. Husband order 4 tacos and they charged him for a full meal.
Love this place! Food is excellent - the salsa is addictive and the chips are warm!! The only thing i wish- it’s loud!!!! I wish the place was bigger but when the food is this good who cares Definitely going back This was my first review but recently now the last 2 times the food is poor unless you want an onion and green pepper burrito. Seriously the last 2 meals had almost no protein just onions. My last was the super burrito and people at the table were saying-“is that all that’s in there?” Yes!! Plus some rice And the wait staff is always nice but tend to just stay at the register and talk. Sad deal I really liked this place
Showed up at 8:15 knowing they are open until 9 and we'd be respectful and eat quickly so they could get home. They told us the kitchen had already been cleaned and they weren't serving anymore; don't trust their "open" hours.
We ordered the carne asada and the two burrito dishes and both were very disappointing and just not worth what we paid. The carne asada was half fat and grizzle and there was no pico. The two burrito dish was literally chicken (seemed to be canned chicken) and ground beef in tortillas covered in sauce and lettuce. And to top it all off, the chips were fried in rancid oil which meant they tasted awful. This was a takeout order.
Went on Saturday night. We were the 2nd table for a long time. Chips and salsa came fast. Drinks came fast. Then they didn’t come to get our order for awhile. Food came and it was dry and not very warm.
Please don't go here. I travel all the time and eat Mexican food alot. This is in the bottom 2% of the Mexican restaurants I've been to. Everything had a wierd taste Including the water. The reviews on here have to be fake!
This is NOT it! I lived in Sacramento, CA for 10 years and Taco Bell makes better "Mexican" food than this place. Recently stopped with my family after a day of discovering the north eastern towns of Iowa and found ourselves traveling home through Summer around dinner time so decided to stop. First off July in IA is warm yes but it was cooler outside than inside. The service is Terrible too!! Never asked if we wanted more chips even though the basket was empty, never asked if we wanted more drinks, heck they never came back to the table after they dropped the food. Who does that?!?! My wife and I ordered steak and chicken fajitas to split, more peckish than hungry and it's like the cook ran out of steak so they mixed in Ground Beef?!?! Like, what, because this is rural IA no one would know the difference between Steak, and Ground Beef? You're better off just making food at home.
My family and I stopped here for dinner and left extremely unsatisfied. The waiting staff was not at all attentive, there is a language barrier (or pretending to dodge responsibility). We ordered the chicken and steak fajitas, after we were served we saw it was in fact ground beef with small trace amounts of steak. When we stated that we would not be eating nor paying for it they acted like they didn’t understand. Our children ordered the burritos and were served enchiladas with what tasted and looked like watered down ketchup and very dry ground beef. Nothing food wise was authentic. If you’re looking for good service and real Mexican food look somewhere else. This was very disappointing.
The restaurant was being hosted by a child. The food was bland, and they were out of guacamole. The "family" gave us strange looks when we walked in. Don't know why that was. They used fake cheese for enchilada sauce and dip. Neadless to say, we won't be going back. Enjoy your meal wherever u end up going! 😋😁🙃
