Absolutely delicious food and drinks, very consistent high quality each and every time we dine in, and we have never had any issues with our orders in alllllll the years we have been coming to Tarka since they opened! We really love the staff here, they are all so kind and helpful, but especially there is a very outgoing and kind woman working often on the nights we come in who is just so exuberant, fun, and positive, such a delight to see her when we come in! WE LOVE TARKA! 🩷🩷🩷
Tarka has really upped their game in recent years. After consistently poor quality food years ago we stopped coming here until recently. The food and service are now excellent and there is a good ratio of customers who were born and raised into this cuisine. Highly recommended.
You have to know that this is not a fancy Indian, but they make good food and are reasonably priced. Ordering through the app for pickup is as smooth as it gets. It takes a reasonable about of time (fast even), and it has always come out on time with friendly service at the car window. Great for an easy weeknight Indian.
Tarka is delicious for fast Indian food. They have a great selection and the flavor is really good! The staff is always helpful and friendly, the food is always hot and prepared correctly. Love it!
The Vegetable Pakoras were perfectly seasoned and very good. Chicken Kabob Platter was also delicious with Grilled Vegetables, and Basmati Rice. Excellent Customer Service, everything was hot, generous servings, sauces and perfectly seasoned, all very good. Really enjoyed the Indian music and decor.
Love love love this! If you are looking for a healthier Indian food option where you don't feel heavy after, this is the place! The Paneer Pakoras are a must and are incredibly delicious! The Masala Fries were good. The Saag Paneer was delicious also. Samosa chaat was flavorful. I love how light I feel after eating here! Excellent!
I forgot how much I liked going to Tarka! The garlic naan is flavorful. The curry fries are crispy. This is where I started liking Korma as my favorite curry! It’s not going to be the most authentic Indian food you can find in Austin, but it’s a quick, clean fix of it. The shrimp and chicken are the same price, just $11.50, so it was a steal for the amount of tastiness you got in that bowl. Medium doesn’t have much spice but is still delicious. Service is fast and seating is spacious. Would come again!
My nose is dripping from the heat but I’m smiling. Definitely committing carbicide with all the rice and potatoes but its worth it. Kind of a noodles & company feel. Order, take a number and a stand and they will bring it to your table. It was crazy fast. Stubborn soda on tap with a water and seltzer tab “club soda tastes kinda like cream soda” but i’ll live. Hot chia tea and orange juice at the station as well. I ordered two of the four apps and I really want to order the two other ones next time. HOT lamb coconut curry was perfect and so was the naan bread. I got the hottest level 1-3. Cool Indian music and this place has a positive flow to it. Leave your stuff at the table “they pick it up for ya!” So tip them when you order.
First time here and it will not be the last. Ordered the samosas, which were some of the best I’ve had along with the chutney it came with. Also tried the lamb naanini and Saag curry which were amazing. However in regards to the spiciness, I like it hot and medium was not enough, will try the “spiciest” next time.

Place was amazing. Took forever for our food to come out but it was well worth the wait. Our new go to indian restaurant. Garlic naan was spectacular
I hadn't been to this Tarka location in person for years. We went for a date night and we're not disappointed. You order when you walk in then sit down so it helps to look at the menu online first.…

In the mood for some curry and this place hits the spot especially for quick service. Curry was good and has things labeled for vegetarians. For fast food curry I think it's good, if you're looking for authentic Curry, it doesn't hit with the spicy goodness and isnt super flavorful. If you love spicy, just get the hottest, hot was more like a shy spicy. Overall pretty good though
Chic Indian restaurant that doesn't change much in terms of the menu, but simply elevates the best of the cuisine to a visually aesthetic presentation. Tarka feels classy and post modern with its vivid murals and gritty street pictures of Indian scenes. The food was plentiful and delicious. The saag channa and malai kofta were good. The naan was soft and fluffy. The paneer biriyani was decently spicy and flavored and came with the caveat that it wasn't a traditional Hyderabadi style. Masala was chai was functional; nothing to write home about. All the food was above average and below excellence. But I'd take someone leery of Indian food here.
Unbelievably low prices for an Indian restaurant. Great ambience. Family friendly. We went with a bunch of about 16 people and they readily set tables for us. Food tasted great. I got the chicken biryani, combo kabob, and the delicious mango lassi. The vegetarian options were great too. Only downside - I would've liked more options to choose from. Otherwise, perfect place for Indian food! Pick anything on the menu and you won't be disappointed.
Came here a couple weeks ago with my wife and mother in law. It was very clean and staff was friendly but the food was more Americanized than I would have liked.

ALWAYS CHECK YOUR TO-GO ORDER AT THIS LOCATION... They get it wrong seven times out of 10 Don't even leave the restaurant, check it right in front of them, because if you walk out, and then walk back in saying that they got something wrong they look at you like you're speaking an alien language when you walk in. I think tarka has lost my business, at least my to-go business, because the attention to detail in regards to to go orders, at least at the sunset valley location, is mediocre at best
⭐ 2 estrellas I’ve enjoyed Tarka Indian Kitchen before, but unfortunately this visit wasn’t the same experience. I ordered the same dish as last time. Chicken Tikka and it just wasn’t how I remembered it. The chicken was very tough and difficult to chew, and it didn’t taste fresh. The server recommended the coconut curry, but I didn’t find it good either. We also ordered samosas, which were good, and a chicken biryani, but again the chicken tasted the same not fresh and too hard. Overall, this visit was disappointing. I really hope I have better luck next time because I know this place can be good.
Bad experience, taste is “okay” in terms of authenticity. Their very hot spice option is not even spicy. But what I absolutely hated was how slow their service is. They took a whopping 25min just to get me an extra naan while my remaining food was getting cold. Please tell me why would it take that long even if there’s a backlog in the kitchen? There’s better Indian restaurants out there that have better kitchen flows.

Google, how can I mark a negative star? Well, I felt like this restaurant just did charity on me by sending "some" food! The quantity was honestly horrible. I was shocked. Zero value for money. Biryani didn't taste like Biryani. The chicken inside was chewy! Do yourself a favor, just look elsewhere. I felt completely cheated.
Unfriendly, inattentive, sloppy service. Because of the convenient location, I come here but I learnt to check the order carefully (not a single time within a year it was prepared correctly). Last two times personnel was very unpleasant to me and to other guests.
Things have changed here and not for the better. Naan was store bought. Meal prices have gone up and quality has gone down. I’ve been visiting this location for over 10 years. A year ago they had it dialed in. This visit was terrible. The food was bland and bordering on inedible. Unfortunate. I won’t be back.
This place does not accept cash. I've added it to a list of my black listed restaurants I do not frequent. We are not in a pandemic anymore. Took My food back to the counter and got a refund because I got a child size portion for $17. This is BS I used to come here all the time and they are extremely cheap on their quantity. I've been coming here for years and I never knew they didn't accept cash. The one time I tried to pay they did not take it. I asked them what do you do when a homeless person wants to pay. This is a pretty jacked up company. I'm tired of this Austin liberal crappy business owner mentality They think they can keep shrinking the portions of food and not give a good quantity of food for the price. I'm going to start eating in Hays County and not in Austin area.
