California Burrito is hands down my favorite burrito on Long Island

I’m typing this as I’m still in the restaurant 10/10 tacos. Definitely am coming back. Very packed tacos which I do like

I even love the name of this place! Went here in its previous incarnation as la taqueria; didn’t grab me. Then I saw the outside change to Owen’s Tacos - what an unusual name that immediately brought a smile to my face! Finally got a chance to stop by - and wished I had come by sooner! Ordered online through their seamless website process and picked up earlier than expected. I was greeted with a smile and I had to ask: did they have tshirts? “Not yet,” was the reply - and I told them I would wear it if they had. After eating my order, I would wear that tshirt proudly… Yes, the burrito might look smaller than a local competitor whose name starts with “c” and ends with “hipotle” but don’t be deceived and look closer: this burrito is jam packed and full of good stuff! Give Owen’s a try - and ask them to start making tshirts!

Very good tacos and tamales. Very reasonably priced when compared to other local options for lunch. Food was prepared quickly. Not really a place I would stay to eat though. But will likely be on my normal lunch rotation.

Everything was superb. Amazing Mexican comfort foods. And ask for the hot sauce! I had one with serious heat and GREAT flavor. This spot is easy to miss from the beaten path, but if it blips on your searches, you found what you’re looking for. Cheers!

Burrito has a delicious tortilla and super freshness actually very good. The Birria taco needs work your consume is bland. The birria is underseasoned but cooked well. Try adding Aztec sea salt Colima brand always helps! Your flan was very great Caramel could be improved. The tres leches is wackk very underwhelming sweetness in the liquid which is completely wrong. Also cakes not soaked? Your tres leches is weak fix it boss. I would definitely eat hear again and just order the flan and the burritos for a great meal.

We’re from Chicago and moved to fl recently and have not had good Mexican food in forever. while on a vacation to NY we found this on Google and let me say it was delish just like we’re used to back in Chicago. The tamales were so soft and spicy and the pork was tender. My other half had a burrito and it was super great he said. Their horchata was amazing too!

This place is small, but it has the best Mexican food I've ever tasted in Syosset, NY. Just finished my Chile Rellenos, and they were far better than expected (based on other restaurants' presentations). Fast delivery, food's hot, tastes great, and the staff is unfailingly pleasant!

I had heard good things about Owen’s and when I was driving by tonight, I decided to take out from there! Let me just say, it was the best burrito I have ever had. I was so impressed. As far as the actual restaurant is concerned, I love that you can see the kitchen and let me just tell you, it is beyond clean. Finally, I was greeted as soon as I walked in, which definitely adds to the five star review. If you want a super causal, but fun and reliable place to enjoy some excellent Mexican food, this is the place.

My Fiancé l live in Huntington Beach about 15 minutes away from Owen’s Tacos. We decided to try this place and as soon as we arrived we were greeted by the person behind the counter who was very attentive, probably the owner. Any ways, with so many things to chose from we decided to try the steak nachos and hamburger with fries. Let me say that we were very impressed with the service and quality of food. The nachos had good size pierces of steak and the whole plate was delicious. The hamburger you could tell was seasoned inside and it tasted amazing, you will not be disappointed if you like Latin American style hamburgers. We also had the Horchata drink which is a typical Central American grain based sweet water drink. Amazing!

First time coming here was decent. The burritos weren't very flavorful, but the people were really friendly, so I decided to give it another shot. They messed up my order the second time around. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt not once, not twice, but three times...each time my food was different from what I ordered. Very disappointed.

I went to Owen's on a Tuesday to try their al pastor tacos that is $2.60 for taco Tuesday. Also tried one of the wet burritos. The al pastor was flavored well and tasted really good. The wet burrito with the red sauce is better than the green sauce. The burrito was pretty fulfilling. Service was great and we received everything with a good smile and friendliness. They are open to customize the meal however we want. The menu is huge and it covers an entire wall.

Friendly staff, quality and prices match. Its definitely not Chipotle, pretty authentic Mexican cuisine. I would visit again.

The price point is fitting for the neighborhood. Not too expensive, but not cheap eats either. The great customer service allows me to be calm about this review. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to shake being disappointed.

The food is good, but the main issue that they keep messing up our orders. And for some reason they are unable to refund anything if we pay with credit card. At least they try to bring the missing items, but it should not be an issue in the first place. Having some people get their lunch much later than everyone else screws up the entire office schedule. We will not be ordering from here again.

Walked in excited to try this place just not to be greeted at all. Still excited to try the place we placed our order paid got home to see our whole order was incorrect. Not only was it incorrect but all the meat was over cooked with no falvor. Thank god they give sauces because we had to add it to the dry meat. Waste of $40. Will not be going back.

To start, the employee who took our order, Gia, thought it made sense to put both the birria and vegetable tacos in the same container. This is especially careless considering it was clearly an order for two people—one of whom is vegetarian. Why would anyone mix meat and vegetables in one box unless they had zero common sense or just didn’t care? If someone orders veggie tacos, maybe—just maybe—it’s because they don’t eat meat. The fries were just as bad. They looked like frozen fries you’d get from Costco or BJ’s, microwaved without a second thought. They were undercooked, soggy, completely unsalted, and had no crisp to them at all. And for this, they charged $40? The portions were tiny, the quality was awful, and it’s clear they’re cutting corners anywhere they can. I was so disappointed that I literally walked back inside and threw everything in their trash can. That’s how inedible it was. It’s also worth pointing out that Gia seemed more interested in her phone than making sure our order was handled with any kind of care. Maybe if she and the chef in the back paid half as much attention to the food as they did to their screens, they’d have at least asked if the tacos should be packaged separately. But no—they’d rather save a few cents on packaging than treat customers with even basic consideration. I genuinely do not understand how this place has a 4.6-star rating on Google. The food is bland, careless, and overpriced. Most fast food chains—yes, even Taco Bell—would’ve delivered a better experience. Save your money and your appetite. Skip this place entirely.
