Got lunch here on a Sunday around noon. Really, really nice spot. We got the Drunken Focaccia appetizer, and the Tuscan Turkey panini. The food was delicious! The staff was very friendly and helpful too.
This place is legit. The service here is awesome. Ate in but they also have to go sandwiches, perfect for lunch. Had the special (roasted turkey, smoked ricotta on herbed focaccia). They nailed it. Wish I lived closer so I could go back all the time. My cardiologist might be mad at me, but I will keep this secret from him. Do yourself a favor, and check this place out.
Spent a nice Friday lunch with the hubs at Crooked Cattle in Armory Square. I cannot say enough about how amazing this was. We sat outside. It was a beautiful day. From the moment we walked in the service was top notch- friendly and welcoming. Our server, Nate could not have been better- fun, informative and efficient And the food was delicious- great flavors and so fresh. We will be back soon! I highly recommend.
We were first timers and we’ll definitely be back. My husband had their beef and cheddar. The beef was sooo tender. I had their Smoke Show Panini-also delish. To end our meal we split an apple crumb cake a la mode. A tasty treat on a chilly fall day. Very clean establishment with friendly and attentive staff who will make sure you’re well-taken care of Can’t wait to try their other menu items!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely Incredible Experience! The Crooked Cattle is truly a hidden gem! The food is absolutely fantastic — every dish is packed with flavor, made fresh, and clearly crafted with care. You can tell they take real pride in what they serve. From the first bite to the last, everything was perfection. What really makes this place stand out, though, are the people behind it. It’s owned and run by the sweetest, most genuine folks you’ll ever meet. Their warmth and hospitality make you feel like family the moment you walk in. If you haven’t tried The Crooked Cattle yet, you’re missing out. Amazing food, wonderful atmosphere, and the kindest owners — it doesn’t get better than this!
Wow. Just had a great meal here at the Crooked Cattle. The focaccia and olive oil appetizer was fantastic !!!! Hubby had the smoke show panini and was very impressed, and I had one of the special Huckleberry RB. Omfg. So much flavor in one sandwich. Again very impressed. Will be back.
Visited on a Saturday and it was busy, but the wait was short. Our server, Nate, was very friendly and attentive, even with the crowd. The manager was walking around, making sure everything was running smoothly. The beer was cold and delicious. They have a full bar that seats about 8–10 people, with a great selection of beer and cocktails. Lots of large tvs around to watch sports. For our appetizer, we ordered the drunken focaccia—soooo yummy! It was focaccia topped with beer cheese, bacon, and scallions. Definitely order this! We wanted to try a few sandwiches, so we got the Hey Clark, Beef and Cheddar, and Beef on Weck. All were fantastic! The au jus for dipping the sandwiches was delicious, and the potato salad was also a hit. This is no-frills food that totally hits the spot—my kind of place! Everything came out quickly and was super tasty. I can’t wait to go back and try more. Also the outdoor seating in the summer will be great! I highly recommend visiting Crooked Cattle!
My husband and I live downtown and were glad to see this new spot! We ordered the Tuscan turkey panini and smoke show panini. Both tasted great and the portions were large - we took half of a sandwich to go. We ordered chips and the potato salad as sides. Lots of natural lighting in the restaurant and friendly service. We’ll be back to try more menu items.
BEST SANDWICH (ever) 🔥 I got the beef & cheddar with a side of au jus. The beef melted in my mouth & the bread was delicious. The sandwich came out quickly & service was great. I felt like both of the girls working were my friends by the time I left. The interior is also beautiful & there is ample outdoor seating. ☀️ My meal was also incredibly affordable. I’ll be back next time I’m in Syracuse!
Great new spot in Syracuse with a simple but delicious menu. Came here on a Wednesday around 4:45 and we were seated immediately. Food came out fast too. We got the whipped ricotta and feta dip which was fantastic! We ate it too quick before I remembered to grab a picture. Then I got the Hey Clark which is pictured here. I will definitely be back! My only issue was the chips were $4 and that’s a pricey for a bag of chips. I bet they could do a spectacular house chip instead, which I would happily pay $4 for. But next time I go I’ll leave the chips for someone else.
Really happy I stumbled upon this place on my walk home from work. At 5:30 on a Tuesday it was quiet and peaceful, bartender Nate was a pleasure to chat with, my Smokeshow panini was fantastic, and the craft fruited sour Nate recommended was an instant favorite. After three days of mediocre food and drink in downtown Syracuse, this was a welcome stop at the end of my business trip. Looking forward to going back next time I’m in town.
Support local businesses! The ownership between Nicole and Matt is just amazing! They treat you like family. The sky is the limit for this upcoming restaurant. We got bread for an app and a turkey sandwich with no bacon.
My husband and I checked out Crooked Cattle last night. We walked in about 5:30, the place was full but we were able to be seated right away. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We both ordered the cheddar beef with a side of au jus. Oh my god, it was delicious! My father in law has been in the beef business basically his entire life, so my husband is very picky when it comes to beef when we’re out. He loved it. The sandwich was packed with beef, the red ranch wasn’t overwhelming, gave just a hint of whatever it needed because it was delicious and that beer cheese was so flavorful. The only thing I wished was there was an option for a side salad, but honestly I was so full from just the sandwich I don’t know if I could have finished it anyway. They have draft beers but also cans. My husband was thrilled they had Busch Light pounders and one of our friends came and was happy they had PBR as well. We will definitely be back! It was the best roast beef sandwich I’ve ever had in my life. You could drink the au jus!

This is THE BEST place to have a roast beef sandwich. I went one night for dinner and was considering going back the next night, that's how good it is. The potato salad is also delicious and I tried the butternut squash and apple bisque and it was very good. The waitstaff is friendly and helpful.
I’m not really a food person. Most of the time I when I go to a restaurant I can take it or leave it. I recently went to The Crooked Cattle with my family. We were completely amazed and impressed. The food was delicious. The roast beef was cooked to perfection & tender. The homemade kettle chips were so good, we ordered more to go! Service was friendly, punctual, and overall it was just a great experience. We will def be back!
Stopped by with some friends for an early dinner on a Thursday. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were friendly and kind. Had the clark sandwich and dirty chips. Roast beef was thinly sliced and so tender. The sandwich was 50 % off and what a deal!! Stop by and enjoy this wonderful place!
Had it for the first time tonight for dinner. I loved all of it!! The beef on weck is DELICIOUS with the horseradish sauce. We had whipped feta appetizer which had chili flakes and hot honey and perfectly crisp toasts. My husband had the smoke show panini which he also loved, lots of flavor. There was a bag of homemade kettle chips, which we couldn’t stop eating, almost spoiled the dinner. They were awesome. Immediately told the rest of my family about it, we are big beef on weck fans and this place does it right! We will definitely be back!

Had a delicious meal a few weeks back! They've done a great job with keeping the menu simple but with enough variety. The horseradish sauce was just what I needed to wake right up! 100% will be back again!
Beef is piled high. Atmosphere is low key. Service is friendly and attentive. They're constantly inventing new and creative specials as well - at least one of which each week is a certified banger. Highly recommend the beef and cheddar. Great addition to Armory Square.
Delicious food. Excellent service. They do not have a children’s menu but the kids tried something they would not have and like their food. We sat outside and it was a great dining experience. They do not have burgers which surprised me but their roast beef sandwich was excellent.

Nice enough place for lunch. Went on a Thursday at noon for the first time. Sandwiches were very good but not quite as good as the food at Ale n' Angus. They only had one poor server at lunch time who was having to do everything from seating people to bringing out food, to getting the cheques, and I felt so bad for her. She was nice and polite and you would never know how hard she was working by looking at her face. It might have been a one off thing but it did make me wish the owners would either schedule her some help or hire more staff. Other than that, it was a pretty nice experience. I'll definitely be back, and hopefully this time there will be a little more help for the staff. If you're in Amory Square and want something new and different this might be the place for you.

No heat! Sat down to a table that felt like a block of ice. Wondered if we should stay, wishing I didn't leave my gloves in the car. Realized there was a space heater at the far end of the dining room so we moved closer (it was empty) and it became bearable. On the way out I noticed another space heater in the bar area. Delicious food but they need to get the heat sorted out. Also no fries is unfortunate, but heat is a must in Syracuse in December.
