The food exceeded my expectations and Chef Jay packed a lot of flavor in this Salmon & Succotash dish!! I was with a party of 13 gorgeous ladies and we couldn't stop talking about how amazing each dish was. I'm not one who likes brussel sprouts, but I definitely recommend it! The truffle fries were perfect as well. We were gifted both desserts and I must say the Strawberry Shortcake could've went down in one gulp that's how good it was. Again, I don't care too much for S'mores, but the Spiced S'mores gave the campfire vibe and true to taste!! Not one complaint was heard because everything was just that magnificent!!!
Cru Cellars is a true hidden gem in Tampa. Easy parking, great ambience, and an amazing wine list with staff who know exactly how to point you in the right direction. The food is next level—the salad is the best I’ve had anywhere, the Peri Peri Cauliflower is packed with flavor, and the loaded hummus is a must-order. On top of all that, their happy hour is solid and makes it even better. Between the cozy vibe, friendly service, and standout dishes, Cru is definitely one of my favorite spots.
I recently went to Cru Cellars for dinner, here is what I thought. Atmosphere: I love the atmosphere of Cru Cellars, you have to walk through the wines they’re selling to access the restaurant. The seating area is small, but quaint. They have a lovely outdoor seating area thats wonderful to enjoy in nice weather. Restrooms: They had two single bathrooms. The bathroom was nice and clean. Service: Our waitress was great. She was super friendly and circled back whenever we needed anything! The food came out quick! Food: The food was so good. We loved everything we ordered. We did family style and ordered a few appetizers, a flat bread, and charcuterie board to share. We tried their ‘Brussel Sprouts’ which were amazing, I could eat those days. We also tried their ‘Truffle Fries’ also so good, I loved the dipping sauces it came with. We tried their ‘Mushroom Flatbread’ which was delicious. We did their five option charcuterie board, which was the perfect sharing amount for four people. The bread it came with was freshly made, it was nice and fluffy. We loved their wine flight selections, all the wines were so good! You got three wines for $24! We will definitely be back! Instagram: @living.with.reg
This was my second time going with my OFFLINE app and it was again another great time! I like the relaxed ambiance and spacious interior. Their wine selections are unique and their food has great portions. I had the shrimp carbonara and house white wine, they also offer happy hour and a retail operation in the same location if you would like to buy a bottle to take home.
As a Cru Cellars wine club member, I can confidently say this spot is one of Tampa’s best-kept secrets for wine and food lovers alike. The club perks are fantastic—especially the $15 monthly dining credit, which can be applied to happy hour. It makes for a perfect midweek treat. On my last visit, we enjoyed the Cru Burger (which comes with a glass of Cabernet!), the burrata salad, and a fig & balsamic flatbread—every dish was flavorful, beautifully presented, and paired wonderfully with their wines. The s’mores dessert stole the show—rich, indulgent, and a must-order. Another great part of the experience is being able to pick up your monthly wines and browse their in-store selection, which always has something unique and worth trying. I love how the membership encourages me to explore new wines I might not have chosen on my own. Whether you’re a wine club member or just stopping by, Cru Cellars offers an elevated yet approachable experience with thoughtful food and an exceptional wine list.
Came here on a Saturday night and there was a DJ playing chill house music - like a lounge vibe, we loved it. The food was great! We got the Fall Roasted Salad and the Steak sandwich, both were delicious. They also have an excellent selection of wines. Will definitely be back.
I cannot thank the staff at Cru Cellars enough for making my daughter’s baby shower so perfect. The food was delicious. The wine choices perfect. The service was amazing. I highly recommend this place for a private event.
Came for brunch on a Saturday morning/afternoon and to my surprise the place was empty. Why? I don't know but the food was AMAZING! I got the Cru Burger with Truffle fries. 10/10 My lady got the Filet & Crab Benedict which she loved! We order the Cinnamon Roll for to go but Jay the Chef had us try his special dessert...Almond Jay. This desert had us forget about the Cinnamon Roll which was also great. The Almond Jay was extremely delicious. We will definitely be back soon!
We had a delightful lunch to celebrate a family occasion. Chef Jay, with advance notice made us a couple of dinner menu items and a beautiful charcuterie board. Omar helped us choose a fruity wine to go with our meal. Located on McDill Ave., a short distance from where Datz closed their doors, Cru is expanding their brunch and dinner business while still offering wine tastings and wine sales. I was taken by the selection and affordability of the wine. Cru has distiguished themselves by discovering and offering unfamiliar and unknown wines of good to great quality with low to moderate pricing. We enjoyed a tasty Pinot Noir for less than $20. We had a wonderful time and the chef even gave my wife a free dessert for her celebratory occasion. Give them a try for dinner or cozy brunch.
My friend and I visited this little gem in Palma Ceia for brunch a couple of weekends back and both the food and service blew me away. Our server, Omar, went above and beyond to accommodate us with recommendations and his attentiveness. But what was even more impressive and is different about this little gem, is that Chef Jay came out and spent about 15 minutes with us going over multiple menu items for both, brunch and dinner. I opted in for Français - omelette (au fromage) with both lump crab and grilled shrimp added to it and it was so absolutely delicious! My friend chose the special from the evening before: the sausage gumbo. She said it was super tasty. For dessert we tried their strawberry shortcake concoction and O.M.G. - it melted in our mouth! Dinner menu looks so yummy so I cannot wait to go back to try it for dinner and pair with their amazing wine selection. Parking is easy to find, no need to figure out garage or valet - they have their own parking lot. Thank you, Chef Jay and Omar, for such fantastic treatment. We felt very special! Definitely recommend this lovely little place.
Charcuterie board was absolutely amazing. The wine flights of cold reds paired really well with the board. And the new chef was super nice and cool! He gave us new desserts to try that’ll be on the menu and they were amazing!!! Highly recommend trying the new desserts!
My overall experience at Cru Cellars- Palma Ceia was pleasant. It had a very elegant yet cozy feel to it. The lighting was perfect for those going on a date with their significant other. The server I had was very nice and she came around frequently to make sure I was enjoying myself. I had the Cru Burger and it was very juicy, flavorful, and the aged cheese topped it off. I had moscato as choice of wine and it was sweet and crisp how I like it. I would definitely return.
Didn't know what to expect when we arrived, but was pleasantly surprised. Nice atmosphere, wine was really good and food was delicious. Definitely returning.
I love the tastings here because they are plentiful! I am a wine club member and I appreciate the variety offered. One of my favorite things about Cru is the ability to use inKind for my purchases. Between that and my club member discount, I always feel like I make smart and reasonable wine purchases. Parking at times can be tricky.
This place definitely has the vibe which can just keep you here if you are in the mood to feel welcomed and invited. Great selection of wine in there display racks are fun to paruse before of after a meal. Speaking of a meal, every time I have gone here I have always ordered something different and have never been disappointed. These Fillet & Crab Cake Benedict is no exception, the flavor and texture of it was was impeccable. Highly recommend.
Very tentative service for a Friday afternoon. Felt welcomed by two separate servers checking on us. Between the two of us we had five glasses of wine and a beer. And then ordered the Cru burger and California Tacos. The burger was great, the tacos I wish it was a tangy slaw...it was a creamy mayo based slaw on top. Overall both were still tasty. The wine selection was okay, but wasn't blown away by any glass in particular. If you are a serious wine drinker I probably wouldn't go here, but overall I enjoyed myself for an afternoon out!
Michelle with Offline - Fresh delicious food, service was great too.
Great place for Date night. We each had a flight. She had the chilled red flight and I the whites. We each then had a glass from our flight. We shared the select five charcuterie boards with 3 cheeses 2 cow 1 goat, prosciutto and olives. The Humboldt fog cheese was over favorite. We then also shared the Swiss chard Caesar salad with a Scotch egg and the cheese curds. Both were very very tasty. The curds were some of the best outside of Wisconsin! All told with tip we spent $140. Service was great. Everyone was very friendly. The atmosphere was a bit loud but still fun. Cru Cellars is cheaper than some other wine and board places around the bay. We will go back.
I've been dying to try this spot and finally got a shot Saturday when we foolishly tried to get some work done at Armature Works. Armature Works was hopping this lovely Saturday, so rather than work, we tried some wine!! With the courtyard closed for a private event, we sat at the bar, sipped wine, tried the steak & frittes with chimichurri sauce and people watched! The staff behind the bar is amazing! They were so friendly and knowledgeable. The wine either comes in a wine glass or you can take one of their traveling sippy cups for a spin! They are fantastic!! I was sipping a lovely petite syrah. It was everything promised and more! The steak was AMAZING. Perfectly cooked and beautifully presented! The chimichurri sauce was more of green paste that tasted beyond yummy!! There are a variety of sauces you can order, get this one. It's the best blend of savory with a bit of spice at the end. I can't wait to get back and try another wine!!
The food and service were really good! The wine flights were so good. The Chilled reds were my favorite!
Wonderful little spot right in the heart of Palma Ceia. Great service, love the ambiance and the food was delicious. Not to mention the wine options! Can’t wait to come back!
Amber McWhorter Photography - the owner was kind enough to let us do Photography an engagement session there and the photos came out so beautiful. This meant so much to my couple as they frequent there often due to great staff, wine, and food.
This place is small, and seating can get a big hairy, but it's intimate and has a nice atmosphere. The cheese plates are delicious and the bread is to die for. Actually, all of their food is yum!
We absolutely love going to Cru Cellars in Palma Ceia. The food, service and wine selection are all a cut above to make it our favorite restaurant in South Tampa!
Great service wine is very good and reasonable food was delicious.
From the ambiance to the wine selection, a great experience all around. I can see why they’re adding more locations.
Great option for cheese variety at Armature Works. For the price, you get a generous amount of each cheese along with fresh baked warm bread. This place is superior to its competitors because it has variety, atmosphere and better bread to accompany the cheese samples. I’d also recommend doing a wine flight. We learned so much from the very knowledgeable Gabby and can’t wait to return!
Fabulous wine bar with exquisite selection of boutique and high quality wines. Great atmosphere with knowledgeable servers. The cheese and charcuterie board was fabulous selection. Had a wonderful experience and will be back often. Thank you! Wine flights is the way to go. Create your own.
The food was delicious! The atmosphere was unique as well, overall great experience
Julie with Offline - We had the Salmon and Squash and California Tacos. There wasn’t any thing we didn’t love! The salmon literally melted in my mouth. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes!
Loved their food, ambiance, and servers! Our experience was a 10 out of 10! Additionally, Chef Jay came out to greet us and he was really kind. We all felt that elevated the experience. I highly recommend Cru Cellars.
"I ABSOLUTELY LOVED Cru. I went today to celebrate my 32nd birthday and WOW what a blessing it was to have had Rain and Alex as our servers. They even kept my cake in a fridge in the back, had a candle for us to sing, and cut it up for me. They deserve all the good things. I'll 100% be back thanks to them."
We just had a charcuterie board and don't wine, but they were both delicious and served quickly.
Beautiful event host of our coveted super club, seated. Highly recommend for group dinners or date nights.
I went to CRU in South Tampa for a private event, and everything was incredible. The service was excellent—warm, attentive, and friendly without ever feeling over the top. The atmosphere was beautiful and so comfortable, the kind of place you just want to linger in. The food was amazing. I tried a little bit of everything—the Brussels sprouts were perfectly crispy and flavorful, the hummus with pita and olives was fresh and delicious, and the truffle fries with rosemary salt were absolutely addictive—crispy, hot, and full of flavor. Everything felt thoughtfully made and served with care. I really, really enjoyed my time there and can’t wait to go back!
Nice staff, good food and great wine. The bucatini carbonara tasted more like an Alfredo sauce vs. a traditional carbonara flavor, but it was still tasty.
A rainy day called for girl dinner and a glass of wine at Cru! I liked the wine cellar ambiance and it was certainly chilly like one. The Ybor burger enticed me but I don't think it lived up to my expectations, however the patty was juicy and delicious. The Truffle Fries were the highlight and no crumbs were left.
Nice, low key spot with limited but good menu & happy hour specials & a little wine shop. Wish they had a bigger by-the-glass selection & more options for the charcuterie board but still decent. Attentive service from the minute you walk in. Love the ambiance & mood lighting after dark. Nice space with a little outside patio (where they were hosting a little dinner party reservation) reminds me of a big city hidden gem. Great place to catch up with friends or romantic date. Burrata & tomato salad was good & fresh but burrata comes cut so you only really get a half. Comes with balsamic drizzle that’s on the sweeter side. Empanadas are good. They’re fried & made with the smooth dough. They come with 2 sauces but too bad neither are spicy. Mushroom flatbread was good. Farmer’s Platter choose five from cheeses & salumi. Cheeses were nice, nothing too punchy except for the Cambozola. The Sottocenere was our favorite. As far as salumi, was not bad. Didn’t love the chorizo, just didn’t taste authentic, more like an American version of spicy salami or soppressata. Everything else was tasty. Standard prices for value. Will definitely go back & try some of the other menu items we missed.
We went here on a weeknight and got in just in time as the crowd came busting in. The wait staff are not very friendly and we could barley hear her. No excitement in her step. We ordered wine and the white wine was warm! not chilled nor was the second glass of white. If you order by the glass its expensive $19.00 and $13.00 You can buy a whole bottle for that price. There is a happy hour 1/2 off on one house white & red wine and some of the appetizers. The food was the bright spot as it was some of the best Tenderloin Carpaccio. We also ordered a cheese and meat charcutier plate. For the prices there was not enough cheese on the plate only a dollop. There was more bread than food. This is a nice hang out after a long day at work. Staff needs to improve, and the white wine needs to be chilled.
Cute spot, great little patio, and a creative menu: small but tasty! The fig and prosciutto flatbread was probably my favorite thing we ordered: great drizzle of balsamic reduction and just a few bites split among 4 of us. The sauce on the salmon entrée is dynamite and the fall-apart tender duck confit with blackberry sauce and super crispy potatoes dauphin was a lesson in texture. Delish. Oh and the maple glazed brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly: lots of crunchy edges and no big barely cooked cabbage bites! They also do a good job on the tuna tartare, with crunchy wonton chips and lots of flavor drizzles on the plate. And the peri peri cauliflower is a neat take on buffalo cauliflower with the side of cambozola cream as an elevated bleu cheese dip. I missed having more spice but the batter and cook on it was perfect. (I demolished them.) We got a few flights and the wines we tried were ok but not mind blowing. I love that they rotate in new wines regularly and that you can also peruse/buy wines by the bottle to take home. Our server was good, but we had some attitude from the hostess when we asked to turn the fans on the patio off. (As they were wheeling out the heaters...?) In general, they did really well with a back to back sat section on a Friday night and the food came out fast and delicious!
Excellent food and atmosphere but it was unbearably hot! It was like their AC wasn't working. We each got a wine flight and several different appetizers. The cheese curds and salmon appetizers were our favorites and the cauliflower was a close second. Will definitely be back but maybe in the winter when the AC won't be an issue.
Small restaurant, not as visually appealing as their other location by Gandy. Tasty food, good service, small parking lot out front. Great selection of wine and drinks.
The establishment was very clean and all of the employees were really nice. My only complaints are the size of the salad and that the beet salad didn't have enough beets. For $18, I was expecting a larger salad, but this would be a side or starter salad at most places. The dressing was really good though. I dropped a star not because of the small salad, but bc the waitress checked on us a minute after we got our food, and then didn't come back again until after we were finished. I really wanted to order more beets and lettuce for my salad, but I couldn't find her for a while, then I saw that she was on the other side behind the bar. I couldn't get her attention and she never looked my way. I didn't feel like getting up and waking over there, so i left it alone, but I was very annoyed bc I stared at her for a few minutes hoping to burn a hole in the side of her head and catch some eye contact, but she was too engaged in her conversation. Anyways, my friend had the carbonara pasta. I had a taste and it was very delicious... It was perfection!!! Overall, I will go back and try something else.
I came here with a group of women for an event. The ambiance is great, very dimmed lights - wine everywhere. The chairs and tables were minimal however, we had to drag smaller tables together to accommodate guests. I ordered the Cru burger and fries , unfortunately it was awful - it had no seasoning and the bread was very hard (I am aware that the bun is textured, but it wasn't very pleasant). The fries were also under seasoned. I took one bite and ordered a to go box and my $21 burger would up in the trash unfortunately. The service was okay, I couldn't find the waitress half of the time, there wasn't much (if not any) refreshening of my ice etc. Overall a nice vibe but for $26 (with automatic gratuity) for a hamburger that tasted like low quality unseasoned meat, I probably would not return . The wine was Pretty good though.
I went for brunch to Cru Cellars and have mixed emotions about the place and service. We had the Tuna Tartare, Cru Burger, Cru Salad and the Flat Bread Prosciutto and Fig pizza. I liked the food but there was only one person tending the tables so the service was slow. The waiter was very nice but did not tend to us as expected. We had to continually ask for water. We also had to ask for a chiller for our white wine and the main entrees took a long time to be delivered even when we were the only table. Any way the entrees were well executed, well presented came hot and delicious. Hopefully I will have a better experience next time I visit.
I wish to preface this review by clarifying that my remarks pertain exclusively to the restaurant aspect and not the wine bar. To commence on a positive note, the restaurant features a delightful and intimate backyard patio, characterized by its warm and inviting ambiance. I also appreciated the imaginative use of old wine bottles for serving water. Regarding the culinary offerings, it must be stated that they left much to be desired. The Carpaccio dish, while promising, suffered from an overwhelming presence of pickled onions and other "non-Carpaccio" elements that obscured the delicate essence of the dish. Similarly, the Flatbread suffered from an undue reliance on the same overpowering onions, rendering it indistinguishable from the Carpaccio. The pasta was regrettably overcooked, and the Steak Frites, disappointingly, lacked any flavor, sauce, or culinary finesse, save for a few condiments intended for the accompanying french fries. In terms of service, it can be described as adequate, although there were some timing issues with the delivery of the courses, with the second course arriving prematurely while plates from the first remained on the table. Additionally, the offer of another glass of wine came when we were nearly finished with our meal. All in all, the overall dining experience can be best characterized as middling. While it neither reached the depths of disappointment nor the heights of culinary excellence, it might be recommended for those seeking a pleasant atmosphere for an undemanding weekday evening.
I had a party in the wine garden (backyard) with 40 people at night time. The lights didn’t work and we weren’t given any lamps or candles. We kept bumping into each other and could not even see who you were speaking to. Otherwise, would’ve been a good party!
We arrived, a party of 3, for an offline Tampa Bay event specifically. We desired to sit at the bar in the back and the black gentleman working the front didn’t bother to look and stated there was “no room.” A white couple came in behind our party and host took them straight back there no hesitation. No one had left the bar area so there were seats available contrary to what was told. My party felt discriminated against as we saw more people being sat in the back bar also. Server was short with us and walked away while we were attempting to order more food and wine. No two bite check back either to see if we needed anything. Additionally, meals came out scattered and we were all eating at different times, very unprofessional. We then decided to order a charcuterie board and for the cost there was ONE slice of cheese and 2-3 tiny pieces of meat for each selection we made. Needless to say if you don’t want Latinos in your bar, just say so instead of giving us sub par service, food and making us feel like an inconvenience. Shameful, it’s 2023.
Food 1 star Customer service 1 star Service 1 star Management 1 star They advertise a bunch of specials then management knows nothing about them . The pasta is gummy and tastes like plastic . There are better wine bars downtown , ybor and st Pete Slow service ! Slow to respond even when the restaurant is empty .
Came from out of town after seeing all the “good vibes” online, and unfortunately the experience couldn’t have been more opposite. We waited in line to be seated, and when it was our turn the hostess didn’t say a word—just pointed to a table in the back corner. No greeting, no acknowledgment, nothing. Water was dropped off and she immediately walked away. We then sat there for over 10 minutes while multiple staff members walked past our table without so much as eye contact or a simple “we’ll be right with you.” We were completely ignored. The only time anyone spoke to us was when we finally got up to leave, and a waitress asked if we were leaving because no one had come over. Correct. This level of service is unacceptable, especially for a place that markets itself on atmosphere and hospitality. Even minimal acknowledgment would have gone a long way. Instead, we left feeling unwelcome and disappointed.
