Tip: Start with a lower spice level than you think you can handle, as some find even the 'hot honey' level surprisingly spicy. Coop's Fury is extremely intense.

We stopped in before our concert yesterday and enjoyed everything. Great customer service, great food, and a awesome atmosphere! The wrap was chopped nicely and dressed perfectly. The dirty bird was moist and dripping with flavor. The hush puppies with the side of pimento cheese just works phenomenally together. Cucumber salad was fresh seasoned and delicious. As cool aid was as an option, I couldn't pass it up! Next time we're in town, we'll definitely be back. Thanks again!
Depot 303 Mulberry location: I got the 1/2 catfish with fries kings coop seasoning with some hot honey on the side. Nice hard fry! The seasoning is so hot and flavorful I didn’t even open the hot honey😂 spice lovers must try. Ranch sauce Taste homemade I need a gallon of this. 10/10 must recommend as my daughter would say!!!
So glad to see King of the Coop back home in Seminole Heights. Been a fan since the Soul Food Street Kitchen food truck days. Huge flavor, huge portions, and real attention to quality. Everything is made fresh: chicken is juicy with a great crunch and perfect heat-to-flavor ratio. Fries are hot and crispy. The hush puppies are always worth it, too. On top of it all, they landed a fantastic new spot. Cool vibe, great place to hang out. Can't recommend this place enough.
The Coop is back in the Heights and I couldn’t be happier! Same great flavor, same great menu, new location with a perfect outdoor vibe. I always recommend the Dirty Bird, and I love mine spicy so I go Nashville Hot. The middle of the road is spicy enough for everyone, and Coops Fury is only if you absolutely love spicy foods. The fries are so delicious, and the Coop Juice is a must. No pic of the food because it was gone that fast. Pictures of the menu so you can see what you’re getting when you show up next!
I had the 2 piece midway (medium) with a tomato salad. The fries were crispy and seasoned well. The chicken was moist, tender and the outside was crispy without a lot of added batter. The tomato salad was delish! The owner and staff were very friendly!
This place was amazing. Great fried catfish! Very crisp and crunchy. Although, I was shocked by how spicy it was - I only got the hot honey level. My husband had the Coops Fury level. He said it was delicious but very intense - almost bitter! That spice level should be a challenge. Be aware what you are getting into. BTW, Coops Juice is Tropical Kool Aid and Lemonade. I adore the outdoor seating vibe. They have a lil somewhat air-conditioned section which is a lifesaver on a hot day. Dog friendly and provides dog bags. They also have games such as Bocce Ball and Shuffleboard.
I went to the original location years back before they had tried expanding. Was one of my fav birds. Then when they expanded I personally feel like quality control began lacking and food wasnt worth going to. But this, this new (only) location is some god tier level chicken. Def worth the visit!
Best tenders in Tampa (and dare I say… in the nation! lol) We’ve been going to King of the Coop for years and love it. The portions are big & the food is always fresh and delicious. I’ve tried other trendy tender places, and they fall so flat compared to KoC.
So glad they are back in Seminole heights. I'll try and resist going every week like I use to when they were originally here 😅 Those chicken tenders are going to make it hard though. Those fries and Mac n cheese are the cherry on top.

Great place to get some amazing Nashville hot chicken. I get the medium spice level and love the sauce that comes with the tenders. The sides are great! Fun outside at atmosphere, my kids love dining here to run around and the place is fenced in which makes me feel safe. They also have a small indoor area should you want some AC
King of the Coop is an absolute gem. I have loved going there for years and have never once been disappointed by their food. The new Nebraska location is insanely underrated for a fun place with friends and the food (especially honey chicken mac and cheese) is exceptional. 11/10
5 Stars – A Must-Try Spot in Seminole Heights! Tried King of the Coop for the first time and it did not disappoint! I got the three tender bucket with medium heat and their signature sauce. I’m usually not big on spicy food, but this had the perfect kick—flavorful without being overpowering. The chicken was juicy and well-seasoned, and the portion size was generous. It came with a side of crispy fries, which just added to the whole experience. The outdoor seating area was a huge bonus—plenty of space and even some fun yard games to play while you eat. It’s got a laid-back vibe that fits perfectly in Seminole Heights. Great food, great atmosphere—10/10 would recommend!
I’ve been a faithful customer of King of the Coop since they first opened on Florida Ave. From then till now the food has always been delicious and the serving sizes have been generous! I’m so happy they’re back in Seminole Heights! I just tried the Irish Spice bag and I’m more hooked than I was before. The curry was flavorful and creamy, and coupled amazingly with the chicken and fries. I look forward to more fusions/“Coop takes” because this one was a 10/10
I tried this place out on a whim and loved it! Their sandwiches are great and the mix of seating in and outside is so fun! There’s great options and spice levels. I only got up to hot honey and it was plenty spicy.
Fantastic food at a really cool location with air conditioned dining or outside seating under large umbrellas. Enjoyed playing some shuffleboard with some fellow patrons while I waited and the food came out perfectly cooked a short while later. It's the same classic menu, but there's also a healthier grilled chicken option now. I got the Fowl Fries, but the Dirty Bird or King Mac are always great decisions too.
The Coop is back and better than ever. It's a blessing to have this legendary hot chicken joint back in the neighborhood. Food is better than ever. Great to dine in or take out. My diet will suffer terribly due to the return of the King's delectable Nashville Hot chicken.
Really great places, good vibes, amazing staff especially Trisha. Thank you for being wonderful. And the cooks are amazing as well the food is to die for. Great flavor and cook thoroughly the fries was crunchy and soft on the inside, the slaw tasted like chicken Caesar salad the Mac and cheese was great.
The King Has Returned—Long Live the Coop! Seminole Heights, rejoice! King of the Coop is back in town, and the craving crowds are no longer restless. Taking over the iconic former Nebraska Mini Mart, Joe Dodd—the culinary genius behind Tampa’s beloved hot chicken haven—has triumphantly returned to his roots, and he’s serving up flavor like never before. Joe isn’t just back—he’s on fire. The mastermind behind this Nashville Hot phenomenon has stacked up accolades like trophies on a mantel, winning Best Fried Chicken six years in a row. His chicken is more than food—it’s a full-on experience. Each tender is massive, juicy, and, yes, truly tender. Choose your heat: Country, Buddy, MidWay, Hot Honey, Nashville Hot, or the infamous Coop’s Fury (notorious for its, shall we say, roundtrip heat—you’ve been warned 😂). And let’s talk about the fries. THE FRIES. Perfectly seasoned, golden, addictive—fries so good they deserve their own fan club. (Yes, we mentioned them again, and no, we’re not sorry.) But Joe isn’t stopping there. From crisp chicken sandwiches and fresh wraps to hearty salads, grilled options, and the ultimate comfort combo—chicken and waffles—there’s something here for every kind of eater. Don’t forget to slather everything in the legendary King Sauce, and be sure to grab a side of soul-warming collard greens or creamy mac and cheese. Joe Dodd first made his mark on Seminole Heights back in 2019, and though the journey has taken some twists and turns, he’s now right where he belongs—serving up unforgettable, spicy perfection straight from the fryer. His flavors are his own: often imitated, never duplicated. The pickle? Signature. The spice? Unmatched. The love? You can taste it. So if you haven’t yet paid homage to the Coop, what are you waiting for? The crown is back on, and the King is in the kitchen.

I really love this place. I’ve been coming here since they first opened in Tampa years ago and following them from each location they’ve been at. I’m not a huge spice Heat fan, but their bitty heat is perfect. Love the seasoning that they use. Thankfully it is walking distance from my house. My new favorite item that I’ve been getting the past few times is the fowl fries. It’s basically loaded french fries with mac & cheese and chicken 👌🏽

This place is amazing! The tenders are big and juicy. And the Coop’s Fury spice level is HOT. I was very happy about that! The location is convenient and has parking. There are outdoor games to play as well- ping pong, corn hole and others. Will be back for sure!! The owner Joe was a pleasure to talk to and you can understand his passion for his restaurant.
I park on the side and walk up to the small storefront. They provide a basic variety of Nashville heat options. I enjoy their midway heat level. 🚙 🅿️ 🚶♀️ They make some of the best Nashville hot chicken and this small restaurant is possibly my favorite place to purchase Nashville hot chicken. I absolutely love their spice with great also slightly sweet flavor. Their rub I really enjoy which is different as it is dry and not a sauce. They add a nice spiced complimenting pink sauce on the side. 🐥 🌶️ 🌿🥛 While eating my third tender, I begin to feel the hotter spice. I really wish for more of their wonderful Nashville hot chicken. The small side of fries is delightful. 🥔 Thankfully, the chef is really nice, really cares about his food, and provides a nice take out box. I really wish he could easily be assisted to help make more. The chef makes a great crowd pleasing meal and a really nice fresh platter. 🎉 I wish to add basic, slightly sweet, and hydrated cole slaw with their hot honey heat level tenders. 🥬 🥕 🥛 🌶️ 🍯

As a Nashville native, the chicken and catfish are lacking in authenticity. I got the Nashville hot level. The spice is not in the bite but rather builds in the mouth after an initial sweetness, which was disappointing. The spice seasoning was not fully coated giving an uneven taste throughout. The Nashville hot spice level was definitely not regular Nashville hot, but the chicken itself is great. I realize I have higher standards than 99% of the demographic. It’s great chicken but not quite Nashville hot chicken

I love the atmosphere and the employees I interacted with were nice. But before going there I looked up the menu and I was looking at an out of date menu. So I was disappointed about not being able to get a large Mac n cheese no Chicken Qtrs. And I got by all that. But the only sauce to choose from is the King sauce which I'm not crazy about. This was the biggest disappointment. I mean every one that does tenders have sides of sauce if you prefer to dip and not have your chicken swimming in sauce. But they offer no sauces at all which I think is horrible. For that alone I won't go back. There's too many chicken tender places that offer what I want. (Chicken Guy)The food is good but not great. The tenders were a generous size but just good average as far as the flavor or cook or whatever. Just average. Not bad but average and therefore overpriced. For 2- 3 tender meals and 2 sides of Mac n cheese and a side of coleslaw (very below average like mayo and cabbage) $44.00. That's about $14.00 too much in my opinion. The place is cool though. Cool atmosphere and logos are cool and the staff is good. So if you don't mind overpaying for average food in a cool atmosphere then it may be a great place for you to check out. But remember no sides of sauce so you'll have to bring your own to be able to dip here. (Other than King Sauce).
