Tip: If ordering the fried pickled jalapenos, be aware they may be over-salted. Consider asking for no salt in the batter.

Great experience. Waitress Hailey and manager were awesome. Food was great.
We had a great waitress named Samantha. Best service we have had in a while. She was very friendly and quick at all our needs. Hope she's working when we visit again.
We had an early dinner tonight with a very special family member. Paloma was our waitress. She was fabulous. Easily the best service we have ever received in 10+ years of visiting Texarkana. Our drinks were never empty, our order wasn't originally correct, but Paloma caught it before it reached the table and she made it right. Thank you for an awesome dining experience, Paloma!
It has been years since I've had dinner here. Since we were in town and in the area we decided to give it another try. We were all thoroughly impressed. We orded Birria Tacos which was phenomenal they even seasoned the tortilla shell, barbacoa enchilada plate, and tamales. Shrimp as an appetizer.
Great service and pretty good food but the steak in my burrito was extremely greasy. Like to the point it ruined the tortilla. I could see trying other meals here but I won't be in this town much longer. They really need fried ice cream too. The chips are like half of a taco shell they're so big.
Food was very greasy but the chips and salsa were great. Service was below standard.... mostly teen servers.
Not really impressed, there are better Mexican restaurants in town. The waitress was not very good. Got order wrong 3 times. Never asked if we wanted another drink or more chips. Manager wasnt much better. I'm sure for some this is the best but for me it wasn't worth the money. Best thing for me was the water.
The atmosphere and my waitress was great. The food came quick and the waitress never let our drinks run low. The reason for the 3 star is the food. See the pics attached. The chili renano I ordered was the smallest I had ever seen. Not a big deal as the rest of the plate was plenty of food. This was a basic cheese filled pepper. The first one was delivered and the cheese was melted inside so I asked our waitress to see about another one. She put the order in and another was delivered pretty quickly. The second one was almost burnt on the outside but again the inside wasn't melted. I didn't ask for a comp since I ate half of each one so I felt I got a full one.
Very easy access from I-30, great service and good ambience. The fried pickled jalapenos are over cooked/fried and over salted in the batter. My suggestion is the reduce the salt or go with no salt in the batter and don't over cook them. The side ranch sauce was OK. The border bowl with portabello mushroom could be better. The mushroom was great but the way the bowl is made, it could improve a lot. My best tasty bowl is from Chipotle. The side order Spanish rice and black beans in the Fajitas could use more cooking. Felt they are half baked/cooked. That's not usually the case at On the Border. Veggie Fajitas are very good. The veggies with portabello mushrooms are grilled the best way possible 👌. The tortillas could be better but overall enjoyed this to the fullest. The Sopapillas are OK. They could be little more fluffy and softer but are balanced with adding more Sugar😊. There honey🍯given on the side was tasting more like sugar syrup. Liked the changes and enjoyed the service in lieu of the COVID19 and appreciate the same very much from the management 👌👍.
Menu changes for the worse after being bought out by Pappas bros. Been my favorite Mexican food for 3 decades until yesterday. I'll miss it
We were waited on quickly and the waitress was very nice and polite. Only issue I had with service was that I asked for lemon for my water twice and never did get any. The music was too loud and my family had a hard time having a conversation. The queso blanco ẁas good and the chips were fresh and hot. They hadn't been salted, but we took care of that at the table. The birria tacos were tasteless and bland as were the beans and rice. I added some queso and salt to try to help them along. No complaints from the kids who got the cheese enchilada, except about their beans and rice. The kid who got the nachos declared himself full after eating one. After further questioning and a taste by an adult, a touch of salt and queso worked to help him almost finish the plate. Overall a disappointing experience. This was our first time there, and we will not be going back.
The food was great and some of the best I've had in a while. The carne asada was perfect and Kaitlyn did and AWESOME job. Now, we asked for some to go sour cream that we had already paid for and was told Oscar said it would be .40 each, but it was $1.39 each. No one told us that the price would change. I've never been charged to get to go sour cream ANYWHERE!!! I guess we should have been in a police uniform, because you catered to them sitting behind us like royalty and we didn't send food back. OTB must be hurting to charge for sour cream, and to charge so much for a once, Oscar!!!!!
I decided to try this restaurant thinking it could be better than my usual Mexican restaurant selections and it wasn't. I ordered a couple side items to minimize disappointment if it wasn't good, which it wasn't so I'm glad for that. I ordered a side of rice, guacamole, cheese dip, and tortillas. The cheese dip was cold and didn't taste good, the guacamole was given to me in a tiny ketchup container. When I noticed how small the containers were, I asked to speak to a manager who handed me warm gross salsa and some chips that were supposed to be included with the cheese dip like he was doing me some favor, but it was in a disrespectful manner, saying he would throw me some chips and salsa but judging by the temperature of the salsa it was off someone's plate or microwaved just to be rude
Salsa was warm and bland. Just nasty. Queso was cheap goop out of the can with a taste like cardboard. Food was just as impressive as the salsa. 75.00 for a meal that wasnt worth cooking. Drinks and chips were good! Atmosphere was upbeat and the place was very clean. Whoever changed the entire operation (in my opinion) was a very bad thing. If there was a half star rating i would happily rate that.
Service was good but everything had changed and not for the better. The salsa was watered down and not flavorful at all, the queso was mid at best. The meal was good, but the menu was missing half the items on it that it used to. As for the environment, the country music playing was a stark contrast to the fiesta music usually played. Really didn't fit the vibe. Overall very disappointed in the changes made. Would not recommend.
Worst place to go eat They put barbecue sauce on tacos Who puts barbecue sauce on tacos. My son had some type of chipotle sauce and they put barbecue sauce on that. Just disgusting food. Waste of money in overpriced
Visited nlr location on 1/2/24 for happy hour. The queso was cold. I don't mean warm but cold. The dish it was served in was super hot so I guess they attempted to warm it up in the microwave and serve it to me hot but failed. It was so cold it was hard to scoop. I sent it back and it came back a little warmer than cold but not hot. At this point I was over it and just left it on the table. My bartender/server was amazing though and I had excellent service the whole time I was there. The only thing that made up for the horrible food was his drinks and service. I also had the firecracker peppers and they were too hot (temperature wise)to even eat but the #1 item sold there (queso) was given to me cold not once but twice. Their prices have gotten extremely high especially to be a Tex-Mex/ Mexican spot so I just feel like the food should reflect those prices.
Ordered through doordash! What a waste of money! The food was trash. No consume on quesa birria. And the tacos wasnt cooked right. The chicken quesadilla is undercooked. The sampler is bland and undercooked and cold. Almost $60 ordered and trash. Whoever is the cook tonight definitely doesnt wanna be there. No queso, no guacamole, no sour cream!
If I could give this place a ZERO we would!! Absolutely HORRIBLE experience!! Our order for 3 adults was placed prior to others being seated. We received our orders AFTER other patrons arrived AFTER US. All of our orders was COLD once received. The restaurant wasn't any where near busy. It was a Sunday night at 10:07 pm and they close at 11pm. We requested a manager. The manager came to the table which also happened to be the person who delivered the cold entrees. We informed Fern (the Manager) about our issues with the food and he said he can take it back and "reheat it". We didn't go to that restaurant to wait 30 mins plus for cold entrées. He did not apologize, nor make any accommodations for the inconvenience. Who wants reheated food. He eem appeared delighted or happy with our issues with his sarcasm and grin. We felt dismissed and the situation escalated. We will NOT be returning to that resturant!! Pictured are the dishes that arrived cold.
