Rainbow Pizza is a pretty unassuming place from the outside, but once you’re inside, you realize this place is something special. The staff is warm and friendly, the food is delicious, the size of everything is massive, and the whole experience just feels like you’re being welcomed in to a Greek/Italian family. It is a bit overwhelming with the size of the menu (both amount of items, and physical size of the menu). They literally have something for everyone, though. Highly recommend a pizza or a pasta dish. That said, it seems like everything you get here will be prepared with love. Definitely stop by here for some food if you’re in the area.

My wife and I love Rainbow Pizza. We know it more for Greek food than for the pizzas. However, the Greek Pizza is fantastic. From the outside, the modest storefront in the serene hills above San Mateo might fool you; but this place is bustling inside. It is always busy, and things move quickly. If you’re a large group, it will take a while to get a seat. If there are only 1 to 2 people in your party, you’ll probably get seated pretty quickly. Many to-go orders are going out the front door as well. The service here is always friendly and very efficient. The menu is enormous. We typically stick to the Greek Gyro meat salad or the Greek Gyro with fries; those are our favorites. We always leave happy. The Gyros are perfectly prepared; simply put, they are THE BEST gyros. If you're in the mood for a salad, the Greek Gyro meat salad is equally perfect.

I stopped by here while charging the electric vehicle. I went and blindly not looking at anyone's reviews or any photos for the restaurant. I like surprises sometimes especially when they are as great as this one was. The staff pleasant and you get to feel that your meal is going to be authentic just from the aroma in the air. I went for the all meat pizza in medium. I underestimated how happy that this was going to be when I picked it up off the counter! I opened it up when I got to the car and was blown away by how much ingredient the pizza was loaded with! When I pulled one slice of pizza, it had so much cheese and toppings on it that I couldn't tell where they were falling from. Not only was it a dense Pizza, it was delicious! All of the ingredients taste very fresh! I will definitely be back to try more from their menu. I hope they are around for 50 years more!

Rainbow Pizza is a local Greek restaurant that never disappoints. Their pizza collection is fantastic. Steve, the owner, is always friendly and his hospitality makes you feel right at home. The entire staff is consistently welcoming and nice, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone craving delicious Greek pizza!

Cool spot, great food! Don't let the menu on the window scare you off, when you walk inside and speak to the gentlemen at the counter, you'll know this place is the real deal. The pizzas are very heavy, so size down.

I come here for one thing and one thing only, the Gyro. I love their white cucumber sauce that it comes with and the fries. The service is great all the time and you can always can get a seat. I cannot speak for the rest of the food but I am sure it is great as well.

Lamb chops exceeded my expectations. Deliciously prepared with rice vegetables and aI added some sliced tomato on side. It's difficult to find good lamb, this is the BEST!

Welcoming and interesting place. Will be back to try more things!

This place is special in that the food will far exceed your expectations for what a pizza or pasta can be. It's REALLY good! It's been a while since I visited but from I remember it's important to get your order in ASAP because it does take a solid 20-30 minutes for the food to come out. Dessert was also very good.

The food is excellent and the staff is so friendly and jovial. We always get the gyro sandwich and it's always amazing. My friend got the spaghetti and meatballs and thought it was really good, a tremendous amount of food. The menu is so big, it would be hard to choose something that wasn't great.

Easily the best pizza experience on the peninsula. We celebrated so many birthdays here. And growing up watching Stavros throw the dough in the air was always an amazing thing to see. Great atmosphere, great staff, even better food. The calamari is outstanding and even though we've moved out of state everytime we're back we try to go.

Pizza was extremely overpriced ($120 for two larges) and absolutely terrible! Soggy crust with a mountain of cheese and toppings thrown in a box. One of the worst pizzas I have had.

This was our first time ordering from rainbow pizza. We ordered to-go so we didn’t experience the service or atmosphere, so my review is purely based on the pizza. We all agreed that the amount of cheese used was way over the top. I think the taste of the pizza would have been really good if it wasn’t for all the cheese. Also the price is pretty high for what it is. If it was a pizza like Vesta I wouldn’t complain about the price, but this pizza was not even close to that type of quality. Probably won’t return based on the price and the cheese overload.

ooof hands down the worst pizza I’ve ever had. Got a large margarita with mushrooms and it was extremely soggy and was so flavorless. For 55$ i expected a lot more flavor and overall just better quality. I do not recommend. This place is definitely quantity over quality.

One of the pizzas ordered had a crust that felt it was soaked in water, the other pizza, meat lovers was an abomination!! Flavorless, wet and un edible! Please educate me on what i am missing here? Last night was my second time dining here this year. The first visit was on Valentine’s Day, when my fiancé and I ordered pizza, mozzarella sticks, and a salad. While the food initially tasted great, we both ended the night with severe food poisoning. Several months later, we decided to give the restaurant another chance since we had enjoyed the pizza at first. This time, we ordered the Caesar salad with mozzarella sticks, I had a mini number 4 pizza, and my fiancé had a chicken with artichoke dish. He felt fine afterward, but unfortunately, I experienced another round of serious food poisoning. I do not typically have a sensitive stomach, so I strongly believe the issue lies in how the food is prepared or cooked. After two experiences like this, I cannot recommend this restaurant.
