Just tried El Palote, which has been on my list for a few years now. Did not disappoint! Walked in and ordered to-go. Staff was very polite and friendly. The pastor taco plate with beans and rice was fantastic. Refried beans were creamy and flavorful. Rice was well flavored and perfectly moist. The red and green sauce came in little knotted baggies, like an icing bag. (Hard to save extra sauce for later if you open these by cutting the corner/tip, but I appreciate the attempt to use less plastic!) We also got the torta plate with bistec. Bistec chunks were large and tasty, and the bread was nice (not too dry or chewy). The torta plate came with straight (not crinkle) fries, which were fine, but paled in comparison to the beans and rice that came with the taco plate! I therefore recommend skipping the fries, which you can get anywhere. Also tried a mango tamarind popsicle, which was huge and excellent (much better than the ones from CostCo!). The place was clean and decorated with lots of Mexican decor. Soft music with Spanish lyrics played from speakers. There’s a little corner with some items for sale: embroidered clothing items, candles, magnets, etc. They of course also had lots of baked goods in the case, all of which looked great, but I’ll have to try next time. I did see 3 large Rosca de Reyes waiting to be picked up, so they do make specialty/seasonal items. Can’t wait to go back to try the rest of the menu!

The best place for authentic veganized mexican food in Dallas. I really love El Palote. I wish it was closer so I could go everyday. Can never go wrong with eating here they also have all sorts of pan dulce.

Excellent food. Vegan food can get bland at times, but not here! Strong flavors, good variety to choose from, definitely recommend this.

Amazing vegan food. Be warned that they will try to charge you $35 for a large takeout container of refritos. It was also $40 for a tamale plate, a taco plate, and a refresco. Love it, but ask ahead about prices if you’re broke.

Pretty dope ducked off spot and good customer service! 👌🏽 Everything was fire!!!! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥 ☆Vegan Birria Plate ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ☆Vegan Tamales Plate 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 ☆Hibiscus 🌺 ~ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sooo good!! This is the sweetest Hibiscus I've had bc it's usually tart & bland. The flavor was really brought out in this one. So refreshing too! We looked up the definition of El Palote... one said stick and another said dove so still unsure of the meaning. LOL! I'll ask at my next visit.

I love this place , the best place to eat vegan Mexican food ! And sweet bread !! I ate the nachos with “al pastor meat” and love it plus the agua fresca ! Cranberry and cinnamon! It was bomb ! . I love the atmosphere and service ! It’s my favorite place to go , eve though I gotta drive more than 30 mins depends on traffic

This was one of the most amazing restaurants I've been to. The bbq sandwich was smoked to perfection. I've never had anything like it. The nachos with the chorizo was amazing as well. We live out of town but we may drive the 3 hours to come here once a week. The only thing I would change is the location so it was closer to me.

I’m giving this place 5 stars because they’re vegan but I do hesitate to do so because it’s overpriced. Don’t get me wrong the Food is definitely good, but a concha should not be $3 (pictures were taken from 3 different times)

The tacos was awesome and the fried chicken drums with the peppers was great!! I will definitely be eating here again when I visit Dallas again! Is it possible I can pay you to ship me some frozen chicken drums??👀lol...I need it in my life 😩

My 1st time here, food and service was delicious. I placed and order online and it when hot and fresh upon pick up…Grets flavors, great portions & it’s completely vegan…I will definitely revisit when I’m in the area.

The food is, without a doubt, authentic Mexican. I am grateful there’s a place sharing our traditional Mexican street food and tamales with a plant-based twist. Their bread is to die for. They have the most delicious recipe I’ve ever tasted.

Outstanding vegan food! Enchiladas, flautas, pastries, etc. all vegan! The employees are very helpful too.

I won’t dock the review because of the cashier whom was a bit dry .... the food however is spot on the flavor . My kids and I enjoyed it . Definitely a gem n the hood , glad to see the business staying strong . The Torta was bomb !!

Highly recommend this place! I had the “Nachos Norteños” and the “Flauritos,” both were very tasty! Notice: the portions are large enough to share or hog to yourself :)

One of my fave places in Dallas! Every single item on the menu is perfection. Thankful for a full vegan Mexican restaurant and love that it’s family run! My new obsession is the burrito with flautas inside!!

The taco plate was very delicious, the guy at the register recommended me different types of tacos to start with. I was very satisfied 😌 Food was fresh, and hot! Made a drive to Carrollton and my food was still warm enough to eat ❤️

The best part about this place is that it's all vegan, I wish they had a place in Houston. I LOVED this place. We ordered the flautas and papas norteñas and everything was DELICIOUS. Staff was friendly, place was cozy will definitely visit again when I'm in Dallas.

We got the few of the entrees here (tacos and flautas) and some of the desserts at the counter and everything was amazing. The food was very authentic Mexican food and I would definitely go back here. A must stop!

This place is amazing. We came about 15 minutes after they opened and there was already people eating. While we were eating it started getting crowded. Everything we ate was amazing. We got the al pastor tacos, tamales and menudo. I seriously thought the "meat" in the menudo was the real thing but way less chewy than normal menudo. The rice and beans had so much flavor and the tamales were awesome. The tacos disappeared quickly as well. They also have an amazing selection of vegan baked goods. We were too full from our meals to try any but next time we come here we will definitely be taking some home.

What’s best than a vegan Mexican restaurant? Vegan Mexican sweet bread! This place is both. Went on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy. They could use a better table layout. Also they should offer lemons with their taco plates. Overall I’m happy and will go back to try the different plates.

I had heard about this place for a few years and when knew I would be in Dallas for a week, then I set my mind to definitely check it out. I went a little nuts and got the nachos norteños, flautas, and the taco plate. Everything was seasoned to perfection and had generous helpings of beans and rice on the side. It is great to see a family restaurant that took such interest in the health of their patrons to bring such quality, home cooked vegan food to us all.

N
Nicole Estrada

I'm so glad they have a vegan restaurant near the southern part of Dallas. And the best part is, of course... it's vegan! The food was delicious. They make everything in house so its fresh as you eat it. The food had fantastic flavor. It didn't taste like you were eating tofu. I had fries instead of rice and beans since I couldn't eat them at the time. The only thing I wish they had were bigger portions. We are in Texas of course!! As for the price... not too bad for vegan tex-mex. I hope more people in that area will give it a try.

This was the best Mexican food I've ever had hands down. The carnitas on the tacos were unbelievable, and the flautas plate was so good I ordered it twice in one week! The cookies I've gotten from the bakery are also wonderful the coconut one I got had chia seeds in it which added an extra pop of flavor and the sprinkle cookie I took down practically in one gulp it was so tasty. Can't wait to come back again, I'll be dreaming of this place back home in Chicago!

Hailing from the wonderful vegan Mecca that is California, I thought I knew good vegan Mexican food. Boy, was I wrong. This place beat out my expectations! Large “meat” selection made for some of the best tacos I’ve had in a long time, and the BBQ sandwich was absolutely glorious! To top everything is a huge selection of vegan Mexican (and American) pastries. All hail El Palote!

I can’t find the words to express my gratitude for El Palote. We drive almost an hour to enjoy this beyond delicious food. We spend $100 or more everytime we visit, because everything is so good we can never make up our minds. For my family and I, it was love at first bite, and it NEVER disappoints. This go round I had the taco plate with “barbacoa”, and three al pastor tacos on the side. My partner got herself the “barbecue” sandwich with rice and beans, and my daughter got the “chimmy”. Today they had fresh horchata so of course we had to get it. We also grabbed this huge piece of layered cookie cake topped with a vanilla cream swirl, and a peach it was SO BOMB!!!!. We also grabbed two concha’s to go. My tacos were so savory. The onion and cilantro was super fresh, and the salsa was the icing on the cake. The barbecue sand which was HUGE. The pickles were fresh and crispy. The onion was sliced to perfection with the perfect ratio of BBQ sauce. The chimmy is topped with a nacho cheese. The consistency was spot on. The tortilla was soft and grilled on the outside evenly. It wasn’t rubbery or soggy at all. The rice and beans remind me of my Abuela’s delicious and perfection with every bite. Everything was so on point as always, but what made this visit special was Kimberly. Her energy was bright, welcoming, and very attentive. She took the time out to smile and greet people as they walked in. She even told everyone thank you, and have a nice day. Even the ones who ignored her walking out. She made my 9 year olds day by shaking her hand and introducing herself as we were leaving which warmed our hearts so much. The restaurant is always clean, and the display case will make anyone with a sweet tooth feel like they stepped foot into taqueria heaven. It does get busy at times, so keep in mind. They make fresh food not fast food. So enjoy the time, and take a look at the small shop they have set up inside the restaurant. Or go take a picture next to the mural outside of the building. The people who left 1 Star obviously wanted to complain, and I’m sure did not deliver any feedback while in the restaurant. Because the owners would have for sure made it right. It’s evident they are new to the vegan community and don’t understand the infamous “Vegan Food Tax” since they complain about price in their review. This isn’t “On The Border” or “Lupe Tortilla” so the expectation of “free chips and salsa” is a reach. Those places don’t cook their tortilla chips fresh daily, or make their salsa in house. So ignore these complainers, and go try it for yourself. There’s a reason why people flock to this restaurant. Both Vegan and non Vegans love El Palote, and you will too. Thank you Kimberly, and the rest of the staff for creating such a wonderful experience that always beings me back to my childhood. See you all soon <3

Best vegan menudo ever! Actually best menudo period. Wish I could have this every weekend. Also ordered carne guisada plate, crispy chicharrón, and chicharrón con salsa tacos. Everything was delicious, including the refried beans and rice served with the taco plates. I’m a huge fan of El Palote’s barbacoa, luckily they distribute their proteins and a couple of places in San Antonio use it. Was super happy to have a taste of their delicious food straight from the source. Restaurant was clean, food came out within a good time, and staff were friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to come back!

Love coming here when I'm in the area - the torta plate was yummy and the tacos were great as well. Friendly service and has a relaxed atmosphere. Also picked up frozen vegan meats, especially excited for the chorizo and birria filling! Husband had a guava/berry filled pastry that he said was good as well.

El Palote does a very nice job of making Vegan Mexican food. I think the only thing missing was just a little more heat. Otherwise it was delicious.

Love their bread and cranberry flavor water. They have 100% vegan menu and dessert! They are also environmentally friendly with straws and to go boxes biodegradable 😊

I have been wanting to try this for over a year. Was better than I was expecting. Grew up in Pleasant Grove, & so happy to see the community has a spot like this! Also, bought a half dozen of tamales. I am already regretting it...it's not enough-going back for a full dozen, soon! Great spot, bringing friends next time❤️

I will FOREVER love this place. I think the soy styles could be marinated a bit more to represent a more authentic flavor. But, that's my only gripe. The BBQ sandwich was even better than I expected it to be.

This is my favorite restaurant. The food is excellent. I love everything on the menu that I’ve tried. They were about to close, but they accommodated me and my friend by letting us eat inside for my birthday. I go there every year for my birthday.

Service was friendly and quick, on the the day we visited, they were planning for a deep clean so only to-go service was available. This wasn’t an issue since we got there during their last hour of operation anyway. After we ordered they brought our food out to our vehicle. Their pan dulce was tasty and fresh and was a nice snack before our meal. I ordered the barbacoa torta. The bread was soft and the entire sandwich was delicious and savory. Super filling and was satisfied with my visit!

My all-time favorite!!!!! Finally was in the area for a lunch break and extremely 😊 happy. Parking is easy unless it’s full. Small lot but big wins! This is all vegan. Like the fact that I don’t have to say goodbye to flautas means I can go forever on this lifestyle of no meat. I ordered immediately the fajita sandwich and fries ( THE FAT CRISPY CRINKLE ONES🤤) AND the birria tacos with rice and beans. AND a pastry that had strawberry filling and probably pineapple in it. It’s circular. 😂 Just order it. You’ll thank me later. WITH the Tamarind Jarrito’s. Mmmmhmmm. You can literally try it all and be surprised that you can get enchiladas, flautas, tortas and tamales that all vegan. At least that’s my goal. There is a small side boutique with lots of handmade goods. HECHO EN MEXICO. Right next to order counter. The decor is super cool. Frida Kahlo, one of my favorites of her younger days. Family owned business. Very clean and food made to order in a timely fashion. Expect to spend around $30-40 for a solid selection of food. Grab food for now and later. It’s really that good. You have my permission to be greedy. Only issue is that it’s far out from where I live, but it’s certainly worth a trip. Additionally, a better option than Taco Bell (desperate measures) Or just having to order elotes. You got a true menu of choice. Choose wisely. Grab extra salsa too!

A

Really enjoy the authentic feeling and great food smells as you step in. Worth finding and once found you won’t forget where it’s at. They helped us with our order and even provided recommendations. Very patient and so worth the trip. Not from Dallas but will make trip again from Arlington to try other items on the menu. The Flauta burrito and tacos are delicious. Friendly and speedy service!

El Palote Panaderia is a vegan restaurant I've been waiting to try for a while now. The crowd was good inside, I went there around lunch. I like the seating arrangement. I ordered the loaded 🍟fries and loaded nachos. Added a strawberry 🍓 fried pie for dessert. To be Mexican style vegan food, it was well made. I was full at the end of this lunch break and did not feel overly stuffed. I like the concept of what they're doing here. All I can say is keep up the good work 👍👍

Kristina Riggs-Velazquez

They convinced me!!! Vegan can be perfected in the Mexican cuisine. The only negative I have is the wait. It was about 30 minutes to get food, but again... it was worth it. We left full but not uncomfortably full. The staff were great too in helping us decide on what to order.

I love this place. I have been several times. It’s tucked into a quiet-ish part of East Dallas not far from Fair Park! Apparently they have a booth at the State Fair every year. The meats are 100% realistic, they actually make their own! The Chimichanga and Papas Norteñas are a MUST try. The service is great and the food comes out quick. The desserts are SUPER cheap compared to other vegan places with desserts, and their offerings change. Today they had tres leches in a cup, as a regular cake, and donuts and empanadas. We were there last night, too, and they had CHURROS!!! It’s all delicious. The tacos are also great, they have a mix-and-match deal that means you can try FOUR different soy-meat types. The Carne Guisada, and Chicharron con Salsa are my favorites. They also have iconic house-made salsas. The red is my favorite. Give this place a try and eat some awesome Mexican food while supporting a family-owned business. 💕💕💕💕💕

this place is INSANE. it changed my life. growing up with mexican food and then going vegan, I just thought I would have to go without. then, my friend took me here and when I tell this is the BEST mexican food I’ve ever had, it is no hyperbole. vegan or otherwise, this tops them all. the staff is also so kind, and you can order the meats and dishes for holidays. do it!!! you won’t regret it. xx

Exploring vegan options around town and stopped by. As a mexican it's interesting to see other people's take on traditional mexican dishes. We ordered the: Nachos Norteños, Enchilada plate, and the Taco plate (Al Pastor, Carne Guisada, Fajita, and Carnitas). The nachos were amazing!!! Great flavor, great texture and would definitely order again. The enchilada plate was good, not a fan of red sauce, but it was ok, a little dry but still good. The tacos were amazing!!! My favorite is definitely the carne guisada and the fajita. We also had some pan dulce. We got the roll thing with "custard" inside. This was sooo good. It had great flavor and tastes just like the real thing!! All in all a great experience and will surely be back and recommend to friends!

I'm so impressed. Everything was so delicious, moist and flavorful. 10/10 I'm coming back! The people working were so happy and even helped me pick some good flavors for my tacos. 4 tacos, with a side of rice and beans for $11.99, can't beat that! Even the panaderia is fully vegan; made with cane sugar. I'm so thankful this place exists. It warms my heart to think about how much thought, love, and care come from amazing people to create a place like this. I've never come by anything quite like it. ☺️

Their food is absolutely amazing!!! I have been coming here for several years now and the food has stayed consistent! There’s nothing that I’ve ordered that I didn’t like. I recently tried their fried chicken meal, which was new to me and it was perfection! It’s an amazing vegan alternative to Mexican cuisine that isn’t vegan. So if you love Mexican food; definitely try them out! It will be worth it!

If you can make it to this part of town, you’re in for a treat. This restaurant serves only authentic Mexican food that is all vegan! Usually on the weekends they have a special option, like a chimichanga or something that isn’t normally on the menu. Tons of different meat substitutes are offered on top of straight veggies. You can also peruse their bakery where they make everything fresh that morning. There is usually a good amount of open parking in their front lot.

D
Donnie S

If you are vegan, vegetarian or just curious and/or interested in exploring other options, check this place out! Flavor and texture are spot on for the vegan ingredients here. The Horchata and the Agua de Jamaica are homemade here. The Horchata is probably the best I have ever had, not too sweet, just right! The Horchata is worth a visit all by itself!

My son and I just happened to stumble in here not knowing it was vegan. It was a really clean, homey atmosphere and the owner was really nice. I love vegan food, but my son wasn't too sure about it. I ordered the nachos and my son ordered the tacos. Both dishes were awesome!! My son ended up loving his tacos as well which I feel should say a lot about this place. Especially coming from an 18 year old boy who lives and breathes McDonald's.

Loved this place. So sad we are now living so far away. The staff is super friendly and the food is just amazing. I haven't had enchiladas that taste this good since ever! We also had the flautas, and nachos. Everything 100 amazing. You need to try it!

It's so cool to be able to order from am entire menu that I had decision paralysis! The chimichanga was delicious and mango Agua Fresca was divine. My friend ordered nachos and they were delicious! We will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu.

Hidden gem alert! what an amazing place in the middle of nowhere .. i mean east dallas and mesquite is mostly filled with authentic mexican small hole with the wall restaurants ! this VEGAN place is definitely a gem.. everything was delish! they have all the soy based items only .. super fresh but a little expensive .. $12 meal - not a large portion but decent size.. A MUST TRY! I was simply amazed

HOLY COW!!! Or not... these tacos were so good and authentic that my mind and taste buds actually thought it was real meat! I got the 4 taco plate and the rice was ok, the beans were on point but the pan dulce was tha bomb dot com! Small and cozy place but I see a lot of potential for growth. I wish they had one in North Dallas bc the drive is a little far but I will definitely be coming back for more of whatever it was i just ate lol.

Hands down one of the best vegan restaurants in Dallas! Not only is the food vegan but it stays true to it’s Mexican roots by serving food that tastes authentic to tradition Mexican dishes. But they also know how to make a good bbq sandwich if you’re in the mood for something other than Mexican. They’re food is top quality, delicious taste, and excellent portion for the price! Recommend to anyone who is vegan or not. You will definitely enjoy their food! I love their tacos and my husband loves their bbq. One of our favorite dishes they have on the weekend is their menudo for a good pastime.

The food was really good and filling. So glad to find a total vegan restaurant, with traditional Mexican food. I will go back for sure. I had the gordita with brisket and bistec. The brisket needed a little more flavor but the green sauce gave a lot of flavor overall.

B
Barbara McDonald

My friend and I visited the restaurant because we saw it on diners, drive-ins and dives. Neither one of us are vegan and the food was absolutely outstanding! The portions are large. We were able to take half of our meal home to enjoy another meal the next day. The service was great. The person behind the counter was extremely helpful. She knew we had never been there before and answered all of our many questions in a very polite and Customer service oriented way! We are almost an hour away and will be back again. The drive was worth it.!! Thank you!

There's no need to be cruel. “El Palote” has served the vegan community for 10+ years. Just because they now have some animal-derived ingredients doesn't mean they're not the best. They're still the best! Stop being so selfish and judge full!

Due to my wife's dairy allergy, it can be quite hard to find a place she can eat at with no worries, which is one of the reasons we had decided to stop on by. Upon entering El Palote Panaderia we immediately fell in love with the place. The flavors are amazing and well balanced, and the service was top notch. Next time we are in the area we will be sure to stop back by!

I visited Dallas while I was doing a Daniel's Fast. What was I thinking??? I couldn't partake in Texas BBQ or Mexican Food so I thought. I stumbled across a review about El Palote and decided to give them a try. I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the brisket tacos and a tortas sandwich(even though I couldn't eat the bread dew to my fast). Everything was flavorful and satisfied my my craving for Mexican cuisine. I will definitely visit next time I'm in Dallas, fasting or not.

I love everything I’ve ever eaten from here. I’ve been getting take out for a few years. Always so delicious. Eating it fresh in the restaurant is even better! Their flautas are so crispy and taste like the classic dish. Rice and beans are cooked to perfection. I also love the nachos and any of the street tacos. My husband loved his BBQ sandwich with the “perfect” (his words) in-house made bread. Check it out, either dining in or to go. Whatever you get will be a hit. This is a consistently excellent spot with friendly vibes. Get you some!

I loved it so so much!!! I love an entirely vegan restaurant. I got the fajita and the vanilla cream pastry. They were both chefs kisses so I had to get two frozen packs of the fajitas and another vanilla cream to go. For sure will be back!

It's hard to find vegan Mexican food in Texas but this place hits the spot! Their soy meat is flavorful, they have a variety of marinades in which their soy meat is cooked in. They have about 9 different menu choices, fresh horchata, frescas, and of course pan dulce of many kinds. They also make their pan with almond milk and have gluten free options. They also have tamales available. Lastly, they sell 1 pound of their different meats marinated and frozen for $16 as well as their beans and rice to go. The cashier informed us of the many marinade/types of soy meat flavors available, but we asked for the spiciest option- Chicharron con Salsa. We ordered loaded fries with chicharron con salsa (marinated soy meat) and a burrito with the same chicharron con salsa. The food was excellent with the flavor just dripping off the meat and melding well with the other ingredients. A great find, flavorful food, and simple atmosphere. I hope you enjoy the food as much as we did!!

This Mexican spot is 100% vegan and the tacos are fire. I had asado de puerco, al pastor, brisket & barbacoa. They were all really good. The asado de puerco was my favorite - the vegan meat had so much flavor. Al pastor was the next best one for sure. I re-ordered the asado de puerco and Al pastor a second time and they were just as good. The refried beans and rice were also delicious. Noticeably good rice. I’d definitely return again! Fun fact: the chefs of this spot have a son who is the chef of Nuno’s - a 100% vegan tex Mex ghost kitchen in Dallas (it’s really good too).

I am from El Paso, Texas and had seen a story on TV and on social media about this restaurant. I had made a mental add on to my bucket list. This weekend my husband and I made it to the Dallas area to attend a wedding and guess where we stopped first, after picking up the rental? My heart, mind, and soul were VERY happy. Rosie (I hope that's correct) was very helpful, attentive and patient with us. THANK YOU!!

The food here is freaking delicious!! Had menudo and 4 different types of tacos with vegan meat I hadn’t tasted in over a decade. Everything is fresh, chips, tortillas, beans, rice salsa ect. Amazing vegan food in Dallas.

This is my favorite restaurant. Theres no place like it. I hope and pray all the time for more DFW locations because its so far from me. But worth the drive for sure. I took home some of their “guisada” to make at home and immediately regretted not having bought more. The food here makes me happy to be a Mexican vegetarian. Their salsa is so good I could just drink it. Even if your a carnivore, you have to try this place!

This is a true vegan restaurant. With my mammal allergy it was wonderful to be able to order anything on the menu including the desserts without asking any questions. The lady who was at the counter was extremely helpful with our order. She suggested that we order the four taco dinner which comes with rice and beans or fries. There were twelve types of protein options. They were all similar in texture but I believe they are marinaded differently. These street tacos were served on two soft corn tortillas with a container of onions, cilantro and lime wedges. We also ordered the optional grilled onions and jalapeno. In addition we shared an order of nachos. They required a fork because of the amount of toppings. We brought home a couple of the bakery items for dessert. Man are we full. May nap before dessert. I almost forgot. They have a little gift shop as well.

El Palote was such a treat that I can't wait to return. The food here is amazing, what I would consider the best vegan Mexican spot in Dallas. From the moment we walked in the staff were all welcoming. I had the Flaurritto plate which is a burrito with 3 flautas, beans, rice, queso, jalapeno. It was so delicious, I wish I could replicate it at home. I also ordered a tamale which was good but light on the filling. My partner had the taco plate which comes with 3 tacos and a side of beans and rice. Overall, I can't wait to try more dishes from El Palote. Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Cleanliness 5/5 Parking 5/5 Ambiance 4/5

Great tasting food. Amazing flavors on the food that is authentic all around. From the peppers for the enchilada sauce to the refried beans that taste like they’re cooked in lard, this place is so good. Sweet bread (pan dulce) was very good. I was able to get one of the fresh ones that they had just put on the rack and it took me back to a time I used to eat that kind of bread. Feels good knowing I can come here to experience those flavors once again. Only thing that I had to complain was their salsa! It was not spicy whatsoever. Tasted kinda bland but it’s okay because their food was delicious. 🙂

The vegan BBQ sandwich here is fantastic. Everything else seemed pretty bland. Not sure if we came on an off night or what but every ingredient (even cilantro and jalapenos) had no flavor.

Nice little spot. Customer service is fine but needs a little polish. The food was nice to look at. The beans and the rice had nice flavor and texture. The flautas however, had no flavor at all. I used the salsas provided but wished for a salt shaker and a lime.

It's a small restaurant and it hides back from the road slightly. There is a cute little patio with outdoor seating. The inside of the restaurant is pretty neat with homemade seating and some very nice hand painted murals. There's not a huge pan selection, but it's a nice addition for takeout. There was a little bit of a line to order and only one girl taking care of everything plus helping what looked to be a new helper.

Only reason I am giving 4 stars is because the portions are way small for what they charge. Other than it's great food and great service. Came from fort worth to check them out but not sure if I'll be coming back.

Both vegan pan and food. They had a lot more variety than I was expecting. The soy products had lots of flavor and were really good. Staff is really friendly too.

Really good vegan food. We ordered tacos street taco style, enchiladas al pastor and chimichangas. My favorite were the tacos. My wife and daughter don't eat red meat. Nor do we like beans that are cooked in pork lard. So it was really cool to find Mexican food within our family food specifications. The only thing that hurt my feelings was that they didn't have menudo but... I suppose that is a weekend thing. I'm sure we will be back!

The place has good food, vegan, they have a few dishes you can try, if you come here please have an open mind, you are not going to find greasy food full of calories and heart attacks. The only thing i can think they can improve is the service, few more people to serve better. Great job guys!

Pretty good vegan al pastor tacos. I got the 4 taco plate with rice and beans for $12. You can taste the effort they put into the soy tacos, def better then a lot of regular taquerias out there. I do not know the nutrition of each individual taco, but you can def order a ton! A la carte ends up being ~3 a taco. where as taco plate is the same price if you buy 4 tacos but with the rice and beans with it. Rice was on the wet too fresh side of things, kinda like the boxed flavored rice you get from wal mart. Beans were fairly good, esp with no lard. I do not recommend the vegan hortchata for $5. pretty powdery. Sodas are all $4 fyi. the pan dulce is around $3.9 for a pretty big one which I would say is fair, but pan dulce is just fine for myself. Would not go back unless I was in the area.

My gf doesn't think it was anything to write home about. She liked the sweet bread the best. The portions were small and a bit pricey. The flavors we're decent but she wouldn't come back. I personally liked the food very much. I would come back when I am craving a Mexican dish. I agree that the portions were small and pricey. I ordered the tacos and my gf ordered the enchiladas. My tacos we're great. Terrible customer service.

Casual small eatery that's mainly a bakery but also makes really good tacos, flautas, menudo and more. Small menu, but chances are you'll like what you'll get. Seating is limited, and it's usually reasonably busy. Food tends to come out quick and most plates come with a side of rice and beans. I was hungry but I scraped my plate because it was good. You can probably get the onion and cilantro on the side, but I just get mine fully loaded from the kitchen. I definitely recommend this place and will be back to try some more.

Very delicious spot loved the flautas and as far as the menudo it was good I’m used it it being more on the sticky side but definitely good will try the pan dulce next time

I had dinner with my kiddos. The food was pretty good. It had the similar taste and texture of traditional Mexican cuisine. It's a bit pricey, but the portions are plenty. I wanted to try the desserts, but I was too full from dinner. The staff was welcoming and provided us with a few recommendations. The only beverages are bottled $2.00 for water and soda at $3.40 each. No complimentary water or chips and salsa here. If you pay with CC the purchase has to be at least $7.00. There is plenty of seating indoors and a couple of tables set up outside. The restaurant is set too far back from the street and hidden. I'm surprised they didn't have much traffic. I will definitely go back again👍👍

We got the flautas, enchiladas, and tacos! The flavors are great, portions could be bigger, but overall a must try in Dallas. The only complaint I have is service was a little slow, cashier wasn't friendly, and the AC didn't work so it was pretty hot.

J
Jaqueline Marquez

Everything its delicious just don’t buy aguas frescas it’s pure ice like 10% liquid 90% ice and if you ask for no ice they charge you extra and if you really like the salsa eat it in the lobby cuz if you ask for it to go they won’t give you salsa and will charge for it too…

Edit to update my recent experience. I really don't want to write this review. But, here we are. El Palote was one of my favorite places when I moved to Dallas 3 years ago (see my old review on google) but this was NOT it. To the owner, if you see this, Ive read the reviews, as I see you do, too. When are you going to take note to all the peoppe saying the al pastor is weird and taste sour?? Al pastor is SWEET! Traditionally, it's cooked with pineapple juice/pineapple. Sooo, I got the Nachos - topped with Al pastor. It was all one note in flavor. The cheese (as someone else stated, "a bland oily gravy", the beans (which tasted different than the beans given in the taco plate I got) the sour cream (just.. no), all bland. No flavor. The al pastor had a weird flavor, weirder after taste. It was sour, and it didn't even resemble the usual cut of al pastor - which is possible with homemade soy curls. See the photos. I couldn't even finish the nachos. I threw them away. I got 2 carnitas tacos. More flavor in that particular faux meat - but the tortillas had an after taste. I will say - I should be able to eat the taco WITHOUT the sauce & it still taste good. That was not the case. Finally, I got the new Birria Tacos. Best thing out of everything I ordered. No.. actually the damn beans & rice AND the consome for the tacos were the best thing. I drove 40 minutes. Super disappointing after such stellar experiences. I have brought so many people to this restaurant, vegans & non, alike. It's sad because I WAS extremely excited to find out they were opening a new location - but if this is what they will be serving - unfortunately, after this visit, I will not be back. ----- Review from 3 years ago. I love this place! Best mexican tacos. Vegan. Loveeee itt. I have had the flautas.. they could fill them more. Also had the plate of tamales with beans and some kind of soy meat. They were good. But nothing beats the tacos!

We were really excited to try this place after seeing it on triple Ds. The atmosphere and people were great, and I even loved their corner for selling authentic Mexican items. We had the gorditas, nachos and loaded fries, all with different 'flavors' of meat. Each one had a different aftertaste than what we expected from the various 'meats' and traditional seasoning used in them and everything was soft, there was no texture variations. The chips for the nachos were even so light (I'd love them with a basic dip) they kept crumbling apart and I had to eat it with a fork. It felt expensive for what we got (it was just as expensive as if we'd gotten real meat and not vegan alternatives)

Went here Saturday after a friend recommended years ago, was finally in the area and decided to give it a try as a long time vegan. The food was pretty good, tacos were tasty. What really stood out to me was the bad customer service; there was a lady with star pimple patches on her face that was quite rude upon arrival. Didn’t greet us or even look up from her phone until a few minutes passed standing right infront of the register. Didn’t point us towards seats or the menu, mind you this is our first time at this establishment. I had to start the conversation to order, the whole process seemed strained and uncomfortable and awkward. She seemed to be bothered that we were there although it was no where near closing time and we are always polite and respectful to staff wherever we go. My husband and I were literally the only people in there, it’s not like she was busy or overwhelmed with orders. She had a bad attitude and the whole vibe was off putting. Was just not a welcoming atmosphere. Would have loved to try more food as the menu is quite extensive but we will not be returning due to the bad customer service.

A very disappointment from this place. We chose this place to purchase our Rosca and they sadly and very upsetting failed to give us the plastic figures that come with the Rosca. This is a tradition and turned into disappointment - I called and it was a useless call.

RIP El Palote. We’ve been vegan for a little over 2 years now and at first this was one of our favorite spots to visit. Between the lack of customer service and the stinginess of this company, I am calling it quits. I don’t think we’ve ever genuinely been treated well here by the staff ever but it just gets worse every time. They do not give any salsa at all with their to-go food and charge .75¢ for it, however if you eat inside you get a huge bottle of each for free? Why can’t you guys just throw a few salsas in with the $25 meals people are buying? I asked for napkins while eating messy nachos, they hand me 2 napkins for both me and my fiancé to use. I use those, ask for a HANDFUL of napkins, I get handed 2 more… I then have to get up and ask for a 3rd time. I also ordered 4 tacos with my order and it didn’t come out - I went back to ask for them and the lady looked distrusting and went back & checked the screen before going to get them made. The prices are jacked too, $15 for some mediocre nachos - the cheese is absolutely vile. The food is good otherwise like the tacos, flaurito, treats, etc. But they really need to work on their hospitality to their customers who a lot of us drive 40 mins and are paying $40+ for two people to eat, that is a lot of money especially right now during all this economic crises.

I had really been looking forward to trying this place out for weeks. I just became a vegan, and there aren’t many options around. I can not believe how bad this place was, and I am completely shocked about these reviews, some of them can’t be real. The food was extremely underwhelming and overpriced. The lady at the register was incredibly unfriendly and not helpful at all. She barely looks up when someone walks in. When you pay for your food at the counter, she turns the tablet around so that you will leave a tip, even though there is no table service- you get up and pick up your food at the counter. I usually don’t have a problem with this, I left a 20% tip, but aside from the food being bad, I asked if I could get some chips and salsa, and she said they didn’t have salsa for them. So I purchased a $5 plastic bowl of salsa from their for-sale display to go with our chips, and then realized when we got our food that it CAME WITH THAT SAME SALSA. This person truly lacks any communication skills, and should really be in a different line of work. Also, I’m pretty sure there was mold on our chips. Total rip off. Sad.

Now serving nonvegan food. An ethical company has backtracked and chosen to serve carcasses. Glad they’re excited about the announcement, though!

We can no longer support a business who thinks it's "exciting" to serve MEAT so that everyone can enjoy food.. sorry but vegan food can be enjoyed by everyone! I know you guys were never on the ethical side as you serve all your food on plastic, but serving and preparing animal products.. we can no longer support that. We are on the ethical side and this means a lot to us. It was amazing food and I hope down the line you reconsider. Editing to add that blocking people for not agreeing with you is insane lol definitely wont think twice to not support here. My comment on your IG post just confirmed what you said, that yall were excited to serve meat. Don't want people to see that huh? DO BETTER

Don't waste your money buying Bread from here, is flavorless and def not worth the price, each piece was like $3 (just regular bread not pastries) . Tripple the price from other panaderias where the bread is actually good and tasty. Place looks clean and is pretty was really expecting something different on the flavor
