Food for amazing! My best friend and I went to have lunch during happy hour and we both ordered the 3 for $17.95. I had the Kalbi Beef, Shishito pepper salmon and the basil chicken breast. My meal also came with garlic fried rice, miso soup and a salad with miso ginger dressing and it all was simply divine. I would definitely recommend this place, over all experience was a 10 out of 10. *Chef's Kiss*
Thoroughly enjoyed the Hokkaido dinner ($95, feeds two people). Service was quick and very attentive. We had two grill changes which means our meat was constantly being grilled very cleanly. Highly recommend coming here, it never disappoints. You MUST listen to their grilling suggestions because they know the perfect amount of time to grill everything. If they don’t say anything, then ask about it. If you overcook your food then that’s ultimately your fault!
We shared a Signature Cut Set and a Meat Liver’s Set lunch specials, both are very fresh and delicious, and not expensive. The meats are already marinated so additional sauces are not really necessary. Unlike many Asian BBQ, the smoke is kept to minimal as the grills have built in fans to suck in the smoke. The atmosphere is pleasant with light jazz in the background.
I have been coming here for years with my family. The wait staff is michelin star phenomenal every single time. When you pair that with the amazing food you get an outstanding experience. I can't recommend this restaurant enough.
Great place! Highly recommend. Best food around.
Gosh .... this place was so good! Random stop by ended up as a great meal Senior prices are ridiculous, like in the good way! Delish, great service, and a cool spot ... !!!! Great quality food and super nice folks!
This is an authentic Japanese BBQ and is a very nice place to eat. It's well ventilated so you may not have to worry as much about the smokey smell you get after BBQs
Great staff and food. Make sure you go on an empty stomach to get your money's worth
On our first official date and it was perfect. Food, privacy, mood, service, etc. all were great. The manager, James, was so friendly and so helpful. I highly recommend Gyu-Kaku!
This is the best Japanese BBQ place by far. Great quality of meats. Excellent service. Very friendly vibe. Always great experience. Thank you !!!
Been to almost every gyu kaku in California and I just love them all
I'll start with, make a reservation don't just walk in. People who came before us were waiting 35+ minutes trying to get sat. Not us! Lol we had a reservation. Also it's cold asl in the waiting area lol. And if you're seated closer to the door. Food was off the charts, fresh, quality cuts of meat, and fresh produce. The portions that they bring every time you order are perfect too so that you don't waste any food. I had a good amount of the menu items. The service I had was pretty prompt. My wife said they came with a group of coworkers the day before and the service wasn't so prompt but it was good enough for her to bring me the following day lol. The spicy edamame was 🔥 couldn't stop eating it. The cucumbers were alright, but I did appreciate the freshness of the veggie, if only it had more of that lil sauce and pickled a bit. The angus beef ribs were my favorite, if you know what you're doing on those lil grills you can't go wrong with any cut of meat here. The cheesy butter corn was a suprising delight. It wasn't too cheesy (I thought it would be cuz of the pics) and that allowed the natural flavor and nuttiness and sweetness of the corn to still prevail with the cheese and butter complimenting it. I don't think the picture does it justice. No one at the table wanted it, but I'm always up for a lil food excursion so I tried it. Asked my wife and daughter to try and they both liked it. My daughter actually wanted me to order another lil skillet of it lol. The steamed spinach was nice too, with the garlic not too overpowering. My stomach is growling writing this review lol. My wife loved the yaki-shabu beef. It was very tender with a savory, sweet hint of spicy too. It was good. The basil chicken had a nice savoriness to it too, not too herbal and seasoned well. We had the Miso soup as well, my wife didn't care too much for it. She said it was bland, not what I experienced however lmao. The tofu I didn't care for but the seaweed (I think it was) was nice and fresh added a bit of texture to counter or balance the softness of the tofu the soy. It's an acquired taste kinda thing to me. All in all, I'll be back! And soon! Me and the family. And I'll be telling others (already have actually lol) and they'll be joining in my good dining experince.
Took the fellas to Gyu-Kaku and we had a blast! The food was great, the waitresses were friendly & quick with service, id recommend coming here 10 times outta 10. Peep the pics...
Sooo good. The garlic edamame was not as good as I would have liked...but otherwise the food is amazing! Service was great...checked on us the perfect amount of times. Make reservations during happy hour if you can...prices were great!
Celebrated my birthday here and had a great time. Food was excellent, mostly ordered appetizers for some reason. Gyoza with chili sauce, Gyu Kaku salad, egg rolls, salmon salad, BBQ shrimp, bacon and broccoli were all delicious. If you go before 5:00 the appetizers are 1/2 off which helps when you have 2 teenage boys who are always hungry. Get a reservation, it’s really hard to get in otherwise.
This is an amazing place! Delicious food & great service. We loved the premium sirloin & the kabli short rib too! Plum wine was perfect.
We enjoyed doing yakiniku. They offer AYCE with three levels of additional selections. They have a substantial senior discount. The service was as good as it gets. Trini was a great server.
My friends and I love this place. We like to try different things. The garlic noodles are our favorite but everything we've tried has been tasty. The cocktails are nice as well. I had a Lychee saketini👍🏾

They are both super professional and very friendly. They know how to make you feel at home especially on your day off. We will always come here for a Japanese barbecue and now we tried the Ramen it’s so delicious. If you’re in the Torrance area and would like some comfort food give them a try and you can also download their App for some great deals. Thank you 🙏 can’t wait to come back ! Food -5 star Atmosphere-5 star Servers -10 stars (Pablo and Kat) Thank you for always so accommodating. See you all again soon. 🙏💕
Came here for the first time with a group of friends and it was great. Have been here 2 other times since then. Great service the waiters are always so attentive and food quality is great. Very clean and great atmosphere. It does get very busy so I recommend making a reservation before hand. Can be a long wait if you don’t have a reservation but I say it is worth the wait. Will definitely be back soon!

Food wise they do have some nice meats, sidings and dishes there're like more than 3 combination meals you can get. Pricing is more on the expensive side since its not unlimited so its over once you finished eating if you want more be ready to pay double. Its located in the middle of everywhere so its an easy to find.
Great place to visit with friends and or family. We usually go for the all you can eat combo, it's around $46 per person and in my humble opinion is enough to start. They have Sake and Japanese beer. The service is great offered by the beautiful ladies serving the tables and the young bucks ready to assist you in anything you might need. Enjoy it my dear friends
Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ in Torrance is always a great experience! The quality of the meat is excellent, super fresh, and perfectly marinated. Grilling at the table is fun, and everything we ordered was delicious. The staff is friendly, attentive, and makes you feel welcome from start to finish. Service is quick, and they’re always happy to help with recommendations or timing the grill. The atmosphere is lively but still comfortable, making it perfect for both casual dinners and special occasions. Highly recommend if you’re craving authentic Japanese BBQ in the South Bay! 🥩🔥🇯🇵
Service was acceptable. Staff was friendly and they brought our drink and food quickly. However, they did not refill our hot tea even once. No change of grill neither. Meat was of good quality. Can't speak the same for the miso soup, it was very diluted and had no taste at all.
Service was really good even though she had to take care of 1/2 of a section by herself on Saturday. Food was good $$$.
Came here during Dine LA where they had a $45/pp deal for a choice of appetizer, two meats, a premium meat, dessert, and rice + miso soup. We had a reservation for 7:15pm but they seated us 10 minutes past our slot. Indoor dining only (no outdoor options). Free parking lot. Credit cards accepted. Most of the seating appeared to be for groups of two or four. Family-friendly. The meat portions are smaller but good quality. I really liked the poke nachos I had too (they were in a sweet sauce). The ceviche had a nice tang too. The spicy pork did have a kick to it. You have a variety of sauces including a spicy one, soy sauce, and yuzu. There was a helpful paper guide on the wall that showed recommended cook times for the meats. For dessert, they were out of the matcha ice cream but we got the s’mores (come in 2). The chocolate provided is just two pieces of Hershey chunks so you’ll get a more marshmallow-heavy s’more.
My son and I both ordered All you can eat. My son's order was $45, but I got a great discount for over 60 for $29.50, so I felt like I was getting a good deal.
Meats are good, but serving is not generous enough for the price of $150 + Tax for 4 pax. We ordered "Yakiniku Set." Staff were nice and helpful enough, Dining is clean.

Bizarre appetisers such as mozzarella stuffed fried wontons and fried rice sushi, but the meat itself is quite tasty! Extremely loud during peak dinner hours so not the best date spot. Great service and happy hour pricing, though they love to bring out everything all at once so clear some table space!
My first visit on a cold rainy day, and right from checking in to the fabulously gracious waitstaff, made it a warm pleasant visit. The food is ok: lacks the brilliance of other Japanese Ramen, Katsu, BBQ chains. Chigae soup should have cooked longer so that ingredients blended better for better texture and it had no flavor, or much taste. Should’ve tried Miso Soup. The Sukiyaki Rice was ok: Double Beef is not much beef and not very good, and barely any sauce. 3 stars for service. The food needs to be more flavorful and have more taste
Update: I've come a few more times since my last review and lately the quality and value have dropped somewhat. The AYCE menus have increased in price which is understandable but they also moved some of our favorite options to the more expensive menus. I used to be able to dine with my wife for around $60-65/each with tax and tip but its now closer to $85+. The quality of the meats seem to have slipped somewhat but perhaps I was just unlucky with the cuts we received. I was hoping that paying higher prices was going to result in better quality but that has not been the case. The bathrooms are still not great and the dining room seems to be less clean as well. I'll give this place another shot or two but due to the cost it might be awhile considering other options in this price range. Original Review: Great Japanese BBQ spot. You pick out your meats and they bring them out for you to grill at your table. The flavors and quality are solid and happy hour prices on beer and saki are great. Service could be a little bit more quick and we have had dirty utensils (cooking tongs) that we had to send back for replacement but otherwise we really enjoy this spot over and over. One thing that is really concerning is that the bathrooms are a complete disaster. Filthy floors (5 minutes after restaurant had opened), sink and wall urinal separated from the wall, peeling caulk and water damage. One wonders if this is how the restaurant cleans what the customer can see, what are they doing behind the scenes where we can't see... I still eat here but if I get sick I won't have anyone to blame but myself.
Not worth the hype. I believe it's busy quite often due to the lack of japanese BBQs in the area. The hype about seeing your meat being cooked in front of you seems to be why people go here. The food was pretty bland, always having to add something to it. Drinks were okay, I would suggest somewhere else if you're dying to try japanese bbq and if you are considering going make your reservation at least 3 days prior. The spicy cucumber were the only things that kicked with flavor.

Unfortunately this time around wasn't the greatest and actually down right disappointing first of all it took forever to get any kind of service, then on our very first order there was hair in our california role then upon receiving our checks my side of the table was charged for seven adults... but we had three adults and two children I don't know what happened this time around but this was the first time that I took my family (mom brother nephews ect) but it was a total fail and it sucks because this is one of my favorite places for my son and I to go
We went to Guy-Kanu Japanese BBQ at the Torrance location to celebrate a birthday. We were a large group of 15 plus a toddler. Restaurant is small and the floor was greasy. For a large group, only one waitress was assigned to our table. Service was extremely slow and unorganized. She never checked on our table and we had to flag her down to place our orders. Some of our orders such as corn cheese, cheese fondue, spicy cabbage salad, dumplings were never placed on our table. Meat plates were small and some only had fats with no meats. The beef Sukiyaki Bibimbap was a bowl of rice with teriyaki sauce, no vegetables and hardly any beef in the bowl. Spinach was swimming in garlic butter. Egg soup tasted like watered down Chinese soup. Steamed edamame had sprinkles of salt. In fact, everything they served was salted heavy handed that some of us hardly drink soda had to quench our thirst with coke soda. Most of their beef plates were of low quality as meats were chewy. We were disappointed at the meal pace as it was difficult to place our order as it was difficult to locate our server. At times, we didn’t have any meats to grill. Our grills were not changed out as they should. Food lacked of quality consistency. They were understaffed as the waiter had to take orders, delivered food and bused tables. Poor management at this location. We will not come back to this location and probably to this chain restaurant.

Never have I ever been to a Gyu-Kaku with such poor quality of meat and taste. Some meat was tasteless while some were too salty with the marination. Some beef comes in poorly cut slices and it was more like frying them on the grill rather than bbq. Been to other branches and this is the worst..
Never been here. Heard about the hype..thought we would give it a shot...they literally told us "reservations only" cause it's a weekend. Mind you, 2 kids who were at a different restaurant we tried to get into walked in and they sat them within 5mins. Now, i know very well that they didnt have reservations either. Ive never been turned away services. My husband worked in the restaurant business for over 15yrs and I've NEVER heard of this. A little ridiculous if you ask me. I'll be reporting this a little higher
I have 10 years of coming to this restaurant and I had to leave cause they told me the wait time was over 3 hours and just for a table for 4. Very disappointed
Haven’t been in a while, and was back in the South Bay. Tried to book a reservation 6+ hours in advance. Showed up at 6pm expecting to wait 30-40 mins. Hostess said we are full on reservations. Not even we can wait, for a no show. Will not be coming back.
Extremely disappointing. Made a reservation for 5 PM For my husband’s birthday dinner as this is one of his favorite restaurants. Arrived at 5:00 was told “it would be a few minutes to get table ready.” Nowhere to wait inside as it was full of other people waiting. Waited Outside. After 10 minutes checked back in at front podium and was told “there are no tables available.” Went back outside, discussed with family what we wanted to do. Went back in after five minutes was told by another employee there “are tables available and she could seat us in a few minutes.” Another couple that had been waiting before we got there also had a 5 PM reservation and were still waiting to be seated as well. Decided not to stand outside in the cold anymore left and went somewhere else for dinner
