Bistro has the best steaks in Turlock. Espresso martinis are 5 stars. The atmosphere here is a great place to sit and have a drink. Bartenders are ELITE.
My husband and I celebrated my husband's birthday and wedding anniversary tonight. Service+food was FANTASTIC. Priscilla was super sweet and attentive. She also brought us out a cheesecake to celebrate 🎉 thank you. Also, the spinach salad is DELICIOUS
Very nice high end restaurant with white cloth table coverings, outdoor seating, and a nice bar. A side room that doesn’t make you feel isolated has a table that seats several people. We walked in for an early dinner(5:15) without reservations on a sat night. The hostess was kind enough to seat the two of us at a table that had been reserved for 7:00. We assured her we would be finished before then and we appreciated that she accepted our request. The service was quick and the steaks were cooked to perfection. The mash potatoes were creamy and the asparagus was tender. I wish we sampled dessert but we were satisfied after our main meal. Definitely worth the money.
Brunch was amazing! We had the French Toast and Avocado Toast! What a great place! Food was outstanding, atmosphere was great! Would be perfect for drinks and snacks in the evening! Service was great as well. The wait staff were great! Prompt and efficient! Drinks were kept filled, the chef was available for compliments and such!! The owner was there as well and was quick to chat if we wanted!!
My friends from Madera always like to go here when they come up to visit when we have a day of shopping. Our server was great and our drinks were wonderful and the food was delicious. I had a burger that tasted so good and was so filling I didn't eat dinner for almost 7 hours. Thank you for always making our visit there so pleasant.
This place was happening for a small town and the food was AWESOME,. Cioppino was incredible and if you have never had it before you should try it as it was invented in Cali. Friendly staff and all the locals definitely know the spot to eat!
The drinks are a great start to the evening. Then you move to the food... Amazing!!! I have eaten hear for years, not only is this food fantastic, but, more importantly, the quality, the taste, the preparation, is absolutely consistent!!! This to me, is the most important quality of this place!! I know, if I go there, take clients there, meet friends there.... it will be exactly like the last time. The staff are fantastic. All these qualities included, gives this place a wonderful vibe!!
It's one of my favorite places in Turlock. Great food, atmosphere, and service. We recently tried their brunch for the first time after visiting the Farmers Market. Overall, we thought the food was pretty good and the service was great as always.
For a few decades this has been one of our favorites. The chef is outstanding. Surprisingly for our little town to have such talent. Add to that just take the Main st exit off hwy 99 and drive in about 5 mins. You’ll see a wonderful place with real old town feel. Great food and people. Just a fun day of shopping or just sitting outside on a spring night. And check out the food pictures. It tastes as good as it looks. Well worth coming down town. There are plenty of tables waiting here for you nice distancing and super clean!!!
My Honey and I celebrated our 3 years here today and it was amazing! Not gonna lie be prepared to spend a lot but it’s worth it! I got the Potato gnocchi and the chicken was delicious wish it had a bit more or at least bigger pieces but still good! The Italian meat ball were delicious but not so worth it they were small and it only had 3 . But the rib eye 😮💨🔥 let me tell you this was the best steak we’ve ever had it was a 14oz 🤤🔥 I didn’t get a picture of my drink but I had the grinch and it hit nice not too strong or sweet 🔥 I forgot the name of the drink my girl had but it was a mocha she liked it the dessert was amazing 🔥 over all Forsure a 8/10! 😮💨🔥🔥 our waitress was Francesca and she was so nice! And friendly😇 since the bill was more than we expected we weren’t able to tip 🤧 but we really enjoyed it !
Our family is from san Francisco and my brother in law is from Turlock. I love giving him a hard time about the fact there aren’t enough great places in Turlock. Well, Bistro 234 has something to say about that. We ordered a few appetizers and the bacon wrapped scallops were eaten before I could take a picture. There was a nice crunch on the bacon and the scallops were nice and soft inside. Very flavorful and very juicy. I like measuring a higher end restaurant by how they make their burger and this did not disappoint. The meat was amazing and the fries were spot on, super crispy and well seasoned. Think crunchy gourmet In and Out fries. The belle of the ball was the lamb shank. The lamb was extremely juicy, full of flavor and was shared amongst the table because it was amazing. It was a special of the day and not on the regular menu. The table also ordered the gnocchi, NY strip and the Mahi Mahi which were all Good but not memorable. The service here was great. The waitress was attentive and helpful and the manager graciously resolved a small issue for us on the wine. I would recommend this place for a nice dinner in downtown Turlock. The food and service were great.
we sat down quick and the food was excellent. it arrived quick and our waitress was super nice!
What a great experience celebrating our daughters 30th in their cellar room !! Great food, fun and service 💕🎉 Pam and Sean were so helpful making our night perfect !!

Been coming here for years and didnt realize they had Saturday brunch, quite a delicious surprise today. Yum yum!
Was invited it looks very nice and the food was great customer service was exceptional. I recommend 10/10. I got the red velvet chicken and waffles with habanero honey was delicious.
If you’re looking for unique fresh cocktails and great service this is the place. After our meal we moved to the bar to have an after dinner cocktail. Boy were we pleasantly surprised. The bartender muddled fresh fruits and created the most delicious cocktails. Our server during dinner was extremely friendly and kind. We will be back soon. A great way to treat yourself on a Saturday night.
Bistro 234 never disappoints! The food is always fresh and flavorful, and the vibe is super chill but still classy. Perfect spot for date night or catching up with friends. I’ve had everything from their pasta to the steak, and it’s all been amazing. The service is friendly and relaxed—they make you feel right at home. Plus, their desserts are on point! If you haven’t been yet, you’re seriously missing out. One of my favorite spots in Turlock, hands down.
From the moment we arrived, the service was superb. Our waiter was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable, ensuring we had everything we needed. The food was outstanding, particularly the duck breast, which was cooked to perfection. The ambiance was elegant yet relaxed, with beautiful French accents and a charming atmosphere. It was the perfect setting for a memorable meal. I’ll definitely be back for another exquisite experience!
I can easily say this was the best steak I’ve ever had in my life. The Wagyu was absolutely magnificent—melt-in-your-mouth quality. We started with the bruschetta and the calamari, both of which were terrific. The calamari was perfectly flaky and fresh without a hint of being 'fishy.' The ambiance was beautiful, but what really set the night apart was the service. Nikki was incredible and truly outstanding. Between the flavors and the hospitality, it was an amazing experience from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back!
Haven't been to Bistro in quite a while, but decided to try for dinner at the last minute. So happy we did! My Braised Short Ribs with mashed potatoes, gravy and asparagus was outstanding. My husband had the tuna with risotto and loved his dinner also. Great food, nice ambience, a good wine pour and good service will definitely warrant a return visit very soon. Thank you, Bistro for a very relaxed, lovely dinner.

The food was delicious. Was definitely worth the wait. The atmosphere was delightful. Even though we left wile there was almost a full house, the ambience was lively, but reserved. Definitely don't mind what we spent. Especially with the wonderful service.
I gave a 4 star but for Turlock, it should be a 5 star. There was a review about sitting near the door and had a lot of traffic. We were also sat by the door and the traffic coming in and out made for a cold evening in December. All in all, the food was great and if you love bread, this is the place. Aside of being a bit cold, we really enjoyed our anniversary dinner there. Cheers to the young woman checking people in with song in her head, and dancing while waiting for customers to arrive.
Bartender (new guy) was very friendly and made great cocktails. Burger was so/so. Tomato soup was delicious.
I always enjoy eating at the Bistro and I order the chicken salad sandwich which is consistently good. My friend and I both ordered it but the croissants were toasted way too much and the salad was too juicy. This wasn't normal. Our salad and fries were very good. The service was great as always. The young ladies who work there are so sweet.
We just finished a nice birthday dinner at Bistro 234. Overall quite good, room for improvement: don't take a customer's cocktail until he is done with it (at your prices, perhaps ask first). Second, if someone is having a birthday and chose you for the special evening, at least make a little fuss, a scoop of ice cream, if not the whole "singing happy birthday" thing. It is a special day, make them feel special.
Was not planning on going here but passed by and decided to give it a try. The hostess was super friendly and greated us with no problem, our waitress however was kind of inhospitable, I was wearing sneakers, sweatpants, a beanie and so was my girlfriend. We felt we were not treated and best as we could've been due to how we were dressed. Have absolutely no complaints about the food or drinks, definitely a 5 star meal. The prices are kind of high for the portion that you are served.
I ordereded the French onion soup and the brushetta bistro. Both were super amazing, the soup was full of flavor, nice layer or cheese on top and a chunk of bread on the bottom of the bowl. My husband was like it's very onion tasting and I laughed and reminded him its French onion soup. The brushetta was very tasty, the bread had a nice crunch on the outside and the middle was soft all 3 dips were full of flavor. The pesto dip was on the spicier side but still taste amazing. My husband and I both ordered the ribeye with garlic potatoes and asparagus. The meat was cooked to perfection the potatoes were so soft and you can taste the garlic!! Finally actual garlic potatoes, and the asparagus... I can't even describe the flavor but it was crunchy and tasted so good, I actually would have ordered more. This restaurant is definitely a romantic atmosphere, they even light a little candle at your table. They also have a bar seating for walk ins. The reason for my 4 star and not a 5. My husband is mixed race with a lot of tattoos and when we walked in, he was judged. You could see it all over their faces. He had made reservations but I guess they didn't go through. He was definitely feeling the you don't belong here vibe and I could feel it to. The waitress did ask for a phone number to look up for the reservations while my husband was looking for conformation. I told them the number and they offered us seating at the bar but I let them know my husband has sobriety. They offered the bar again and I let them know we have sobriety and that wasn't going to work. Than 1 of the ladies said we can squeeze them in there but it's reserved an hour/ hour and a half from when we showed and asked if that was time frame was ok for us to eat. I said yes that works and we got seated at the table.

Hi my husband and I went there on January 3rd for our anniversary. We ordered sautéed sea scallops, Brito bruschetta, Chicken Marsala , penne pasta with the shrimps, and crème brûlée and we order 2 alcohol blend drinks. One was tequila with strawberry the other one was rum with coconut. The food was very delicious. The chicken masala had excessive mushrooms, the both Alcoholic blend drinks were terrible. Tequila with strawberry was so spicy and the rum with coconut was too sour. I didn’t like anyone of them.. Another thing I noticed the price of food was so different from the prices on menu online. I feel the restaurants like that. Should have an updated menu price since a lot of us we order or go through the menu online before we go to a restaurant for example sea scallops My brother on the online menu says $14 and we pay $21. The bruschetta online price is $10. We paid $19 chicken masala online is $18 and we paid $31 so I was kind of curious how restaurants can do that.

Ok service, mediocre food. Was happy to immediately get a seat on Saturday night. I felt I paid too much for several raviolis with very tough edges, and a red sauce that had nothing special to it. My wife's gnocchi was ok. I left feeling like maybe this is more of a drinks and hangout spot and not upscale dining like I assumed.
I was so looking forward to going here, but was underwhelmed. We took staff here for a company Christmas dinner, because we wanted to offer them something nice. Our table was right by the entrance next to the bar so there was lots of traffic. Service was very slow because our waiter was serving another large table. Food presentation of appetizers was good and they were tasty. Food presentation for main courses was really non existent. Dinner bowl with meat, potato and veggie. Like I do at home for the family. They had a special of rack of lamb that was prepared really well, but served in a dinner bowl. Try cutting a lamb chop in a bowl in a confined space ... you might end up wearing it. I suggest a flat dinner plate for this type of dish. Dessert presentation was average. All in all we were underwhelmed and will not rush back.
Food was fantastic. However the service was lacking a little. The young lady that served me seemed extremely unhappy. I was waiting for my car to be finished at the shop so me and my daughter stopped in for lunch, we were greeted very nicely as the hostess was very friendly, however our server just seemed very unhappy to be there. She was polite yes but she could’ve used a mood adjustment. Maybe it was because they just opened not long before we came in. I’m unsure. We’ll still be back, perhaps at a later time though as it seems that dinner service is a little better.
Food very good HOWEVER, took 20 minutes to pay tab, 10 minutes to get change Had to ask twice for bread with the soup, almost done eating by the time it arrived. Servers are bartending as well so running in circles. Came here 18 years ago and didn't return because it took 2 hours to receive our food. Won't go back. Food is good but not worth this kind of wait. Hire some help already
I saw that Friday is happy hour until 6pm. Took the wife for a couple of drinks and when I got the tab the drinks were full price. I said I thought it was happy hour to which the bartender had to ask the manager. She said yes and gave me a new tab. The problem was each drink was only $2 off. I said the website said should be 1 half off. She asked the manager who said the website was hacked and that was not right. So I talked to the manager and he basically said too bad. This is not good customer service so be aware. He should have tried to make it right at least a little.
This is a nice place to sit and relax, but the waitress disappeared a lot. The food was not seasoned at all. The onion soup had no flavor at all. Beyond disappointed. Texas Roadhouse is for less and has way better flavor. The keylime pie was pretty nasty too.
The flavors were good. The waitress and another server who helped us are young, inexperienced, do not know the menu, and were absolutely terrible with drinks! They were unattentive and unhelpful with menu items, especially alcohol choices. Asked for desert wine and was brought rum then told they don't have a bartender and didn't serve wine at all ever. Finally an experienced staff member was able to bring the port desert wine we requested after unnecessary confusion. The food was not worth the price as the chicken marsala was like chicken strips on pasta. The pie and tiramisu were the best part! Otherwise Wouldn't recommend and will not be back.
Ok for starters their bread is amazing but my fiancé and I ordered burgers well well done, they still had pink; understandable because they taste like they’re ground up steak so they didn’t taste bad. He got fries with his and they both looked and tasted stale. McDonald’s has better fries. I ordered a side salad…got chopped up lettuce. Also, prices are insane for food, only go here if you want to drink. $72 for 2 burgers and some bread.

The food isn’t worth the price I don’t usually write poor reviews but this place wasn’t good I got a seafood soup and it was very low quality. There wasn’t a place to put the shells and there were like three stale noodles in it 😅 The customer service was very poor too. We were seated in the very back and they wouldn’t sit us anywhere else even though there were loads of spots open. Also, my wife went to go ask the hostess a question and she didn’t even look at her. It was very subpar customer service. Smh You can get better food at a lower price elsewhere
Wow, this place has really fallen down in Every possible way! Could not be more disappointed, and I will not be returning. I called ahead to make reservations. I did not have reservations when I got there. They immediately blamed the lack of reservations on me and proceeded to put me in the worst table in the whole place despite the fact that they had plenty of tables and I definitely called and made reservations. The food was overwhelmingly, disappointing I ordered the scallops appetizer. They were lackluster in every way. I had the rack of lamb for dinner and it was supposed to be medium rare. It was completely undercooked and chewy the flavors associated with it were disgusting and tasted prepackaged like they squirted everything out of a plastic tube in the back. The weight staff was Terrible. Possibly because I “didn’t have reservations.” Which I definitely had. My date had the cioppino which she said was all right, but I will have to take her word for it. Overall, I was disappointed in so many ways I can’t even count. My dinner ended up costing about $160 that included two drinks. That would be fine if the food was good, the service was good, if anything was good, but it was disgusting.! The atmosphere was nice hopefully a another restaurant will move into that location someday. I love that building.
The server did great but unfortunately the kitchen could not get the order right and did not care to fix it. We are vegetarian and first receive the wrong pasta with chicken which got sent back for the right parts with chicken (requested on the side) and finally the third time we got it right after waiting over an hour with two kids starving
My girlfriend and I made reservations earlier in the day and when we got to the restaurant they told us that their system was faulty and it booked us for outside. Being too cold outside, that wasn’t an option. The problem I have is the staff was aware of the problem and didn’t even try to reach out. We spent another hour just trying to find another available spot. Very disappointed in the staff and management.
Sat at the bar. Smelled so bad needed to move another table. Needs serious steam cleaning.
This place has really gone downhill. Should have known by how empty the restaurant was that evening. My daughter had her birthday dinner here the other night. I ordered the halibut. The waiter could not tell me the price of the salad on special that night even after asking twice. My fish was so dry I could not eat it as well as being under seasoned which was communicated when the waiter asked how our food was. No manager was sent. No solution was offered. We used to dine here often but after this I will never eat here again.
