Hands down the best food in Turlock. I have never had anything here that was less than amazing. Fast service, friendly people and better food than anywhere. Try the diablo sauce!
Incredible food, incredible service. This is such a wonderful place to eat. Justin our server was so quick and so kind.
Yummy food and nice people. I will definitely be coming back. The salsa verde is delicious. I had it on the shrimp enchilada. So good!
Best Mexican Food in town. And they treat you like family. It’s my go to spot in Turlock.
Family owned business with great authentic Mexican foods. Currently they have outdoor seating with 5 tables. Take out is another option. Really miss the indoor dining and the friendly staffs.
I eat here AT LEAST twice a week and the food is great!!!!! The service is very friendly and they're constantly checking to see if you are happy and need anything. I am addicted to their 'Camarones Costa Azul'!!! And their Chilaquiles is to DIE for!!!!! Make sure you ask for Carnitas and extra Nopales 😉👍💜
This is a "Regular Stop" for my Wife and I. Mostly Sunday's after Church. Their tortillas are Made there. Not store bought. Their sauces are authentic. It's like there are 5 Abualita's (Mexican Grandmother's) in their kitchen! We also stopped in the Turlock one yesterday and had the Fejitas with all 3 proteins. It was Delicious! For a Chain, you can't ask for better food!!! Domingo & Tina Vasquez of Ceres, CA.
I went here as a child and it is still the great restaurant that I knew back then. They give you plenty to eat and offer great customer service. Would definitely recommend eating here.
I would have to say this is the most popular mexican restaurant in Ceres. Always has a crowd and is popular for local celebrations and ball games on T.V. We have been here many times and always had a great experience. I personally recommend Ordering the "wedding chicken" and enjoying a cold beer on the patio on a cool central valley evening!
We have decades of visits at La Morenita in Turlock. The food is always amazing. The staff is always professional and providing. You can't get any better than this.
Great service, food, and fast. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. I don’t live in Turlock but I will stop and eat there again.
I love la Morenita’s restaurant I’ve been going there for over 20 years.
Best food & experience they really take care of you and food is fresh!. Highly recommend coming here.
Very good authentic Mexican food. The service was wonderful and the owner even suggested some new things for us to try. There is unlimited fresh made chips and salsa for the table as well.
Very nice serve , Filler upper portions of food , always on point with the most delicious food , a must go place if you haven't tried it yet , what are you waiting for
The food was very good as was the service. The food came out very quickly even though we were in a party of 12, and there were plenty of other people there also.
Absolutely love coming here. One of my favorite restaurants. Always welcoming customer service. Highly recommend
This is my goto in Turlock for Mexican food. I've brought many friends and out of state family here and everyone has raved about it. I don't live in Turlock anymore and I still make the trek to go eat here at least once a month!
Same wonderful people have been giving fantastic service and authentic Mexican food for the 30 years I've been a customer. It's my family's favorite place to eat.
A family favorite..... La Morenita has been our #1 choice for Mexican food since the early 1980's. The entrees are expertly prepared. Always delicious,
Food is superdelish! They give you a lot for the price you pay. My dad ordered a bowl of menudo and it was very big! You can request to put pata in it. I went during lunch time on the weekend and it was not too busy. I would come here again since this restaurant is authentic and customer service is excellent.
My friends and I come here weekly for lunch. My go to is the #8 (two green sauce enchiladas, chicken). Whatever you try here will be delicious. They usually get you seated quickly, I don't think I have ever had to wait for lunch & dinner for 2-4 guests.
Always have had a great experience here. Food is fresh and tastes wonderful and staff is always friendly, and helpful. Even during peak hours when the restaurant is busy the wait and the service is great.
It started when I smelled a good smell of food saw this Lady carrying trays of food and said excuse me what is that you got there and we’re is this place please and thank you 😊 she referred us there and it was Great!!!!!!!! 😊 My wife and I had lunch it was good 👍 thank you to La Señorita who was kind and great attitude to refer us there your Amazing and your team Best,Gracias,we shall return 👻
Always delicious and the staff is AMAZING. Service is quick.
Food is fantastic. Service is good. Atmosphere could be better and the bathroom could be cleaner. But you go here for the delicious food. I have tried at least 15 different things on this menu and am never disappointed.
The food is consistently delicious and the service always prompt and super friendly.
Food and service was great! I didn't know how good the food is at this place. No one ever has recommended it to me! Well the secrets out now. I'll be back soon.
Bomb mango margarita Bomb chicken mole bomb rice and the beans with the melted cheese were freakin on point. Flour tortillas were a 4/10 but it’s California, can’t expect them to be higher when Cali is made up of corn tortillas. Young ladies were super nice and welcoming. Service was amazing. Kept the chips and drinks full. Definitely will be returning to La Morenita.
I have been coming here since 1986. Watched it grow. I can always count on great food. Great salsa too!
Family friendly. Delicious hidden gem!!! IYKYK. I ONLY EAT GOOD FOOD AND FOOD PLACE IS ON THE LIST
I read an earlier post about a bad experience with roaming dogs and people smoking weed and bad service, and, while everyone might have an OFF day, I have never, in all the years experienced nothing like that. We have always felt like family, greeted with a smile, joking, happy and treated well. The food is homestyle mexican cuisine, almost ALWAYS served quickly and hot. Not sure how long we have been coming here, but I know its over 25 years. Thank you La Morenita for the great food and fun memories; we will be back as always for more!
Some of the best Mexican food you can get in the valley. It definitely reminds me of South Floridian Mexican food. The chips and salsa are excellent and the staff is extremely friendly. If you have never been here before, I definitely recommend it!
Best Mexican food. I used to eat here about 3-4 times a week. I moved so don't visit as much. Definitely recommend. My fav spot in my hometown.
Call me nostalgic but I like this location more than its Ceres counterpart. Growing up in Turlock and all it has always been a great spot to go solo, and now with my wife and friends. Service is friendly and attentive, food comes out fast and flavorful. Can't really ask for more here.
Very impressed with the staff here. They were incredibly friendly and helpful with everything. My husband has a gluten allergy, and they were very helpful (and knowledgeable) with what menu items were okay for him. Eating out has been a struggle since we discovered his allergy because a lot of places have no idea, or absolutely everything secretly has gluten in it, but La Morenita made it easy, and he was able to eat something delicious instead of having to settle. The food was delicious, and the bathrooms clean (and there was a changing table, BONUS). Would definitely recommend.
We made a reservation for my mother's 75th birthday dinner. The service was excellent & the food was delicious! Was served hot & fast! The waitress was attentive as well.
Definitely the best Mexican restaurant in town! We've been eating here for years and they never disappoint. The food is delicious and the service is always wonderful! Even when they're busy they are still quick to get your order and you rarely have to wait long to get your food. The staff is very friendly and always happy to get anything you ask for. Can't be beat for a great dinner and a margarita.
They just do everything right. Family owned and operated. Chile Colorado for A. Chicken tacos for G. All was right with the world. Rice and beans compliment the entrees perfectly. Dinner was 41.00, left a tip that totaled 54.00. Well worth it. Service? Check. Food? Check. Price. Check?
Tried the breakfast sopes and the special dish that was very delicious
As always, the food was delicious. I actually love sitting outside. The patio structure and covering is perfect. The lighting at night makes it look and feel like a great night out. Have a beer or margarita and enjoy the cool night air. The occasional loud car engine is annoying but they're few and far between.
One of my favorite Mexican restaurants anywhere. The family who runs this place treats you like family and the food is delicious. Don't pass up the smothered burrito supreme and get extra cabbage with the chips and salsa
This place never disappoints (except when it's closed). The family is so sweet! The Pollo en crema always hits. I drive hours to eat it! Other places have Pollo en crema that is similar, but no place has the perfect Pollo AND white, garlicky rice AND to-die-for refried beans!
This is a very small and intimate restaurant but that means the people treat you like you are family. My friend and I had a delicious meal, and we built our own combination of a cheese enchilada with green sauce and a chili relleno with green sauce. They were delicious and we cleaned our plates. LOL
I moved to Turlock 2 years ago and I eat at restaurants often, so I have eaten at many restaurants since December 2023, especially I like Mexican Food . I especially like this friendly and authentic Mexican food restaurant. There are many good food trucks and Mexican food restaurants in Turlock but this is my favorite restaurant in Turlock, Mexican or otherwise. The atmosphere is nice(all three rooms) are comfortable and spacious. I have some health issues so when I call for takeout, the servers are happy to carry my food out to my car. Nice and close parking out front and the parking lot is close. Most importantly the food is great. I usually order a 3 item combination which comes with beans and rice( cheese melted over) .Chicken Enchilada , Chile Relleno and Pork Burrito(Green Sauce packed with meat in the burrito and Chili Relleno has lots of cheese). I usually save the burrito for a midnight snack as the meal is plentiful. Lots of corn chips and 3 dips with each to go meal. I couldn't be happier except their not open on Sunday but their love of God means that their attention of the customer is also paramount to their buisness. I have been so happy with the 3 item combination plate that I haven't tried their Fajitas yet. I'll let you know how they are once I try them but the 3 item combination plate is big and I love the midnight snack that the 3 item combo plate allows. Does anyone know of a good Chinese Restaurant in town or good Indian food restaurant? I love me come great Buttery Chicken or Pepper Chicken!!!
Delicious flavor had the caldo pollo very good 👍😊
My uncle brought us here because its his favorite Mexican food restaurant. I can see why, from the cabbage and chip starter to the la crema chicken half spicy I was impressed!! Definitely going back when I come to visit again. Thank you!
I had breakfast. Potatoes, eggs with chorizo It was delicious! Our waitress so nice and very attentive. Definitely My New Favorite 😍
Great experience overall. The food was amazing with freshly made tortillas. Salsa's were on point. The service was phenomenal. Always checking on us to make sure we had plenty of tortillas. Even when our party was a group of 13 people, no hesitation on providing an amazing service.
Really nice dinner with a great atmosphere. Our friendly server was very attentive, making sure we had everything we needed with our orders and refilling out drinks when they got low. Had cheese enchilada with rice and beans. Yummy! Good chips and salsa too.
La Morentina Restaurant features amazing authentic mexican food. The staff is very friendly. I love their selection of seafood. I had the ceviche and it was absolutely wonderful. I paired it with a Michelada and I was in heaven. They have a large menu with many great selections. I went with a large group of people and everyone was very satisfied with their meal. I highly recommend this place for some excellent mexican food!
I grew up in Merced/Turlock areas and have been coming to this location since I was a child. This restaurant is still a family favorite, and we love coming here. Food is delicious. One of the better Mexican restaurants in the area, in my opinion. Too bad it isn’t closer to my home, but also, probably a good thing! Always recommend this place!
My first time here but this place has been here forever! Some of the best Mexican food in the valley!! Nice atmosphere. Very friendly and helpfull staff. The waitress never let my drink run dry, as I pounded down a boiling hot Molcejete! Beef, chicken, and shrimp, with a wonderful citrusy sauce with a nice kick! Perfect placenfor a date or night out!!
One of the top three Mexican restaurants in Turlock in my opinion. Been around a long time, the food is always good. Family owned
Every dish I have had here has been very tasty. The Turlock location is my favorite of all the regional restaurants. It's good for families and a date nights.
Great California style Mexican food. Been going for over a decade and have never been disappointed. Only slight negative is the hard floors are bare walls make for a very noisy environment.
Food was good I had the chicken enchilada with green sauce with beans and rice the rice was the best part loved it
My guy had an appointment in Turlock and we decided to try La Morenita, honestly the food was really good but a bit salty and the drinks were very expensive...maybe I don't get out much...lol BUT $4 for a soda and $11 for a tall Coors Light kinda ruined it for me IDK??
I ordered Mole, and it was warm. The chicken was dried. The food was not the same as the last time I was there.
This restaurant has an excellent authentic Mexican dish selection! The food is delicious and served in large portions. They also offer complimentary chips and salsa while you wait. However, there aren't many vegetarian options although there are a few. The environment is definitely casual but still charming enough for a nice dinner. There are Mexican-styled paintings on the walls along with many other delightful details throughout the entire restaurant. Last but not least, the waiting staff here is really great at caring for their customers and no matter how busy the night gets, there seems to always be a perfect amount of waiters to run the place smoothly.
Service was excellent ... walked in and was seated right away. Sever was at table in about a minute to take order with great recommendation. Only com I found was the free chips ... salsa I think was not fresh or made with Cilantro.
Updated 04-04-2022 Got dinner with my grandma and mom. Food was bomb! I ordered Camarones a la diabla. Asked for extra spicy 🔥🥵 and boy was it hot. Loved the food, brings back memories. I grew up eating here as a kid, awesome Mexican food.
It was good food but we had to wait a long time to order and for our check. Our waitress wasn't busy either. Other than that it was good.
One of My 2 favorite Mexican restaurants in Turlock. The salsa is very good, and I've never had a bad meal there, always good for almost 30 years.
Food was really good. Chips are refilled on your table as needed. Large menu of choices. Only complaint, for all the staff I saw there, seemed to have to wait a little too long to be seated and at the time, many tables were open. Someone should be at the position specifically(during busy dining hours) or one to two people assigned to make this their priority task. Nice, open atmosphere. Good for day eating especially.
Food was good and the server was very nice and attentive even though it was super busy. The rice is a bit lacking in flavor, watered down. Didn't like that the salsa was served in a small plastic cup which made dipping a chip near impossible. Their Mexican mule and margaritas are superb. I will go back next time I am in town.
Great service and pretty good food. I had shrimp tacos, and my son had an asada super burrito with green sauce. We both liked our meals, and the chips and salsa came with the chopped cabbage dip. Very good.
Took my mom here yesterday for her birthday lunch. We were greeted instantly, and had chips, salsa, cabbage and drinks at our table within moments. Our favorite dish lately has been the Molcajete, so we ordered the combo option which has shrimp, chicken, pork and beef that's cooked in this amazing savory stew like broth and it's served in a mortar. With the dish you get tortillas and side fixings: beans, rice and guac. It was delicious. (Our favorite is from Florencios in Merced, but they recently closed their doors and we are anxious to find one as good as theirs) would have to say that this molcajete was really good...but not as good as Florencios. Nonetheless, we'll be going back, because everything was super fresh and really tasty!
Driving through Turlock and decided to stop based on the reviews. I ordered cheese enchiladas with onions and they were very dry looking, more onions than cheese. My friend ordered Chile Verde and the meat was very hard and sauce tasted sour. Yuck! The server did remove one meal from the bill. Not what I expected and won’t be returning.
This place was promising. The only major downfall is that while there is plenty of seating, its in a rather small restaurant... which made things very loud. Obviously the loudness came from people and groups talking loudly to hear over each other. Additionally, when the place is full and busy, there is nearly no space between tables or groups. The place was fairly busy and I'm sure that impacted food quality. The food wasnt bad, but it wasnt great either. Between 4 people, we had a child's taco meal, two adult two taco meals (one soft taco and one crispy taco) and one burrito meal. Nothing horrible to report regarding food, but also nothing memorable either. Seating was slow, but the staff was friendly and fairly attentive despite it being busy.
I've had better dinning experiences with La Morenita,I ordered a side of refried beans & rice w/flour tortillas & for the price we paid it was a very small portion of ea. of the rice & beans the tortillas were plenty enough in fact I had 2 left over.. it's the 1st time I had placed a telephone order to go with them. I have never had a bad experience when dinning in with them, always delicious hot and plentiful portions, excellent service,But my 2go experience wasn't great to say the least...
I've been here about 3 times and each other was slightly different from the last. Serve time was a bit lengthy, approximately taking 20 to 30 minutes to be brought your food. And the prices for the portion are not worth it most entries aren't going to fill you up. Not to mention most drinks do not come with a refill, only sodas get one. There are many other good Authentic Mexican restaurants in Turlock I'd recommend the Taco shop near Geer or even La Primera one street over from Golden State BLVD
1.Fajitas lacked authentic flavor, the beef was tender but very few pieces of meat. 2. The chile relleno was definitely not a fresh dish and lacking size and volume 3. Condiments were spot on 4. Cameron Ala Diablo was a disappointment due to the size of the shrimp(small) vs. The price of 16 dollars acarte. The sauce was delicious I may add. 5. Tortillas warm but not fully cooked. Paid 66.80 for this meal, a consideration for a future visit is not reasonable.
They had a booth at the Faire. My soda was $4.00 which is standard for the Faire, but the cup was almost entirely ice. I had about 5 swallows and it was empty. I ask for a refill which is not standard policy at the Faire but I felt entitled to more since they sold cans for $2 and I would have got more that way. They told me no. If this is the way they operate their restaurant I will not be going there either!!! Since they are not willing to make the customer happy!!
It's very dark. Food is not that good. They dont speak much English. And it's kinda overpriced. My good friend owns la morenita in Ceres so I thought 🤷🏽♀️, sames! NO NO NO!!!! I needed a straw literally for 3 mins before they finally stopped and gave me one. The food isnt all that fresh or good. The service sucked too.
My daughters and my husband and I went here to eat recently. When we first walked in you could tell that it was almost like as if we were bothering or putting them out to service it was an hour a little over an hour before closing time but I guess they were closing at a different time that night for whatever reason we sat down and he said okay can you hurry and Order because the kitchen is closing we didn't even look at the menus yet okay so we tried to hurry as fast as we could to order and then they forgot to ask if we wanted something to drink so we waited in the meantime the server set down to eat and we literally waited for him to continue eating and finish eating before he came back to us and then he asked us when he brought my daughter's plates he asked if we would like something to drink we said yeah we ordered it and you could just tell that he didn't want to be there or he was ready to go I don't know what it was the food was horrible some of it was cold but the most important thing was besides not feeling welcome there they came over there and he handed our plates kind of in a rush fashion he did my daughter's too went back and got mine and my husband's he put my husband's down but then he handed mine to me the plate and as he handed to me and I put my fingers on it to take it from him he said oh be careful it's hot well by that time my fingers were already burning so I put the plate down and they kept bothering me and bothering me and we went home that ended up with blisters on four of my fingers and I actually have pictures of it that plate was so hot he went back to go sit down and finish eating whatever he was doing and then you just said they were just ready to the kitchen stuff was staring at us and it still wasn't closing time either mind you it was a horrible experience and we will never ever go there again
I've been here a lot with my wife and our daughter. Very good food. Two times however we found forien objects in our food and once found broken glass in our water. They apologize but we never returned. Just last week alone and without the better half of my relationship (daughter included) I decided to give another chance on a couple of tacos. Still the same good food but the waiter who served my takeout order charged me .54 cents for an extra taco sauce. This is the same sauce they give away free to everyone sitting down at the table. I won't be returning. I hope my better half doesn't find out I have them another chance.
To expensive for the amount of food you order and the 35 dollar tip they charge automatically was to much
Won’t be going back, there was 6 tables being occupied and it took them a while to bring my for out. My food was soggy when I did receive it
small portions, terrible, slow service. cold camarones al mojo de ajo, dry chile verde my whole 7 pieces of it. wow. waste of money. the micheladas were on point though.
The service was bad. The food awful and overpriced. Don’t waste your time here just go to Taco Bell you will pay less and have a better meal.
Did not have a good experience here at all. My server was very polite, and got me everything I needed without me having to ask. Rice was watered down, don't have pastor, and food took and hour to get. Also, sopes was very hard
Used to be better. Quality of food and salsa have gone down in the last 2 years. They ran out of rice....how does a Mexican restaurant run out of rice? Didn't even say anything; just brought extra beans. Pick one of the many better Mexican restaurants in Turlock instead.
Not good at all. Food was ok. Service horrible. Waiter didnt hardly ever check on us at all. Had to get up and go find him just to get refills, utensils and stuff. Then was combative when one of our orders was messed up and wanted to double charge us. Do yourself a favor and go to the la morenita in ceres, theyre much better! Oh almost forgot, the damn flies, wouldnt leave us alone. Very annoying
We went to order to-go and they were really helpful and really nice. However, we go to order and I'm told they do not do carnitas tacos but the WILL sell carnitas alla cart and the tortillas but wont put them together or provide the cilantro and onion. Then, we order natchos and order beef but when we finally get home we see that they put chicken. The only good thing is their flour tortilla chips. If I go back, it will only be for the chips.
The waiter was very rude from the very beginning and wanted us to do what she wanted. Was not happy about us moving and extra chair to place items so that it was not on the floor. The place was empty. Had maybe 7 tables taken. Claim they needed the tables because " she bragged" " we get very busy" she said we didn't had to stay but those were the rules. When my plate arrived she said it she works never eat it. And it is gross. I grew up eating this plate. Obviously people ask for it and that's why they offer it. I was very disappointed. Thought my bosses took me there to celebrate my birthday. Will not visit again
I would never come here again. We had to keep asking our waiter for the high chairs. We dined outside and it was cold outside and we had to ask them to turn on the heater because they had them off. We also had to wait almost an hour just to receive our food and the appetizer came with our food so it was pointless ordering an appetizer. My husbands sea food was raw and my sisters food was fried with old oil we were able to taste it. There was also people drinking and Smoking weed near the dining and it made us so mad because there was babies around and we had our babies around too. They were also being so loud and the employees did not tell them anything. There was also street dogs running around. So I would not recommend this place being family friendly.
