Me and my son recently stopped by Black Bear Diner in Vacaville for breakfast, and it was exactly what we needed peaceful, welcoming, and delicious. We were seated right away, and the atmosphere was laid-back and clean, which made it perfect for a relaxed conversation before a busy day. The staff was friendly and made us feel right at home. Our waiter was quick and attentive without hovering, and the food came out hot, fresh, and full of flavor. Everything we ordered tasted great, and you could tell it was made with care. One thing I really appreciate about Black Bear Diner is how consistent they are. No matter which location we visit, we always walk away happy. This Vacaville spot is no different great food, great people, and just a comfortable place to enjoy a meal with family. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this is a solid spot for breakfast or lunch. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

We had the Slow Cooked Pot Roast and the Bacon Cheeseburger Salad. I asked for some modifications with my salad which were made without question. We had a pleasant experience with our server Sharon. She made it a nice, easy and enjoyable service

Great breakfast place! The flight of mimosa’s is great, but too much for one person in my opinion, and definitely not weak! However, breakfast was also a bit more comical than normal too! The food was hot, fresh, and rather quick. The waitress was pretty much running the back room by herself and did it like a champ! The menu is rather large and you should be able to find something you’d like at any meal.

First time trying black bear diner, Sharon was our waitress and she was very helpful in recommending items from the menu, she was also very nice and attentive checking up on us and bring us our food. The crispy chicken wrap I ordered with crispy onion rings is very delicious as well, for 15.99 it’s a good size portion and quality food😋

On our way to see Dodgers vs. A's baseball game, we stopped in for breakfast. Very busy @ 10:30am on a Sunday. We were seated right away. Excellent service. Food was good but on the cold side. Place was clean and organized. Again excellent service. We ordered French Fries, French Toast, and a hobo Omlette.

Today was mother-daughter lunch so black bear it was. I am still finding the one item I like stage. My daughter has her item. We had the pleasure of being served by Rosa, she was so patient and just amazing, she gave us a scoop on what was the big sellers, my daughter had the hamburger salad she loves it. I had Bruce's meat lovers omelet with hashbrowns and a biscuit add gravy(I'm from the south) Hash browns are thick I recommend asking for them to be cooked crispy as they only brown one side and serve browned side up. Omelet was good. biscuit with gravy. Mmmm well a bit bland. I recommend seasoning maybe adding some bacon fat to it. We also ordered a mini coconut cream pie well worth it very good

Sharon was amazingly professional , people person. Brought food promptly and food was made fresh . Highly recommend BBD on Saturday, minimal wait and fresh food. We will be returning soon.

Dinner was actually really good! Got a salad and cornbread muffin with mine. The salad was a generous portion. Nice and fresh and crisp. Had brown gravy on my chicken fried steak that was really tasty. Dining companion had the spicy sauce chicken strip basket. He really liked it. The fries were really good!

It's been a long time since I last visited the Black Bear Diner in Vacaville. So when I had breakfast there today, it was an enjoyable time. The food and service were great.

March 2025 We tried the fajita omelet it was extremely plain not worth trying. We were extremely disappointed no flavor at all. May 2023 We really enjoyed the food. It tasted fresh and it was delicious. They also updated their bathrooms. Update as of June 2022 I was extremely disappointed on our visit. Our waitress Trish was absolutely wonderful but the food wasn't not great all. I was very disappointed on meatloaf it looked and tasted old like it may have been sitting out or made a few days ago. The carrots in the salad were bitter like they had spoiled. Again this isn't a reflection on the server because she went out of her way to bring me fresh cucumbers. The quality of the food how is cooked and prepped has definitely gone down. In addition their homemade biscuit was the size of a cupcake and wasnt a biscuit but corn muffin. Which is very unfortunate when you are paying about $20 a plate. This was one of favorite locations. We went to celebrate my husband's for Father's day and the food was just simply disappointing. Update I love Black Bear dinner. They were extremely busy for dining. But the food was totally worth the wait. And the portions were simply huge. Great food!

The servers were nice but the food was not cooked. When asked if everything was OK, I told the waitress nicely as I didn't want to be mean, that the eggs were still raw that's why they and the hash browns weren't eaten, and the two pancakes that didn't get eaten were also raw... And mentioned they should pass it on to the cooks so the next people don't get raw food.. but all I got was the generic OK I'll tell my manager. Then when I paid I was asked again, and well, don't ask if you don't want to know. I told her the service was friendly but the food was mostly inedible because it was raw and that if you ask for scrambled eggs they should reveal that they are going to be the fake pre-made mix, not actual scrambled fresh eggs. She acted surprised that I'd actually be honest..and that I was nice about it. But didn't offer any accommodation for their errors. I was understanding in that it's a busy weekend and they are in a rush, but it's still not OK to serve raw eggs and raw pancakes. (hindsight I should have taken photos but I didn't plan on even posting this) We love Black Bea Diners, but the Vacaville location is not one we normally stop at, will never be one I go to again. And we travel through there often. In fact I'll be second guessing any time I stop in any of the again for a while. Very disappointing. No offer to comp meals or even take a small percentage off. They seemed too comfortable hearing this, which generally means it's normal feedback. Maybe I should have been that customer who made a scene.. Sounds like it could be what they need to understand. Do better Black Bear.

Restaurant Review: Black Bear Diner – Vacaville, California It had been a little over five years since my last visit to Black Bear Diner in Vacaville. Back then, I remember it being an excellent breakfast spot — great food, consistent quality, and friendly service. So, I decided to give it another try recently for breakfast, this time with my grandbaby. She ordered pancakes from the children’s menu, and those did not disappoint — fluffy, golden, and delicious. She absolutely loved them. Unfortunately, my own meal wasn’t as enjoyable. I ordered the Eggs Benedict, which is usually one of my favorites, but this time it fell short. There was barely any hollandaise sauce on the dish, leaving the English muffin quite dry. I tried to cut into the poached egg hoping the yolk would add some richness, but it was cooked hard instead of runny. For me, the hallmark of a good Eggs Benedict is a creamy hollandaise and perfectly poached eggs — neither of which I got this time. On a positive note, the hash browns were great — crispy and flavorful — and the service was just as friendly and attentive as I remembered. However, the quality of my entrée was disappointing enough that I probably won’t be returning anytime soon. Rating: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ (2 out of 5) Great service, but the food quality didn’t match my past experiences.

I have been coning to this restaurant in Vacaville for a few years now. I love the food, the service and the atmosphere. However, yesterday we were seated across the side of the kitchen and I saw one of their staff making salad, picking up the leafy vegetables and meat with bear hands. Initially, I want to speak to their supervisor but I don’t want that lady to be in trouble and lose her job. I am writing this review to call there attention and remind their staff to follow rules and regulation on food handling in general.

Terrible I ordered takeout. I got home.My salad was completely brown and slimy. And then I get my burger, it has a hair on top of the bun. And when you go to the bottom of the bun, my pickles are brown and slimy, and my bun is soaking wet! This is by far the worst plate.I've ever got at any restaurant in my entire life. The food quality was terrible.
