Stubled upon this gem tonight with my friends and decided to check it out. We werent expecting much more than a quick beer and a shot but after the bartender Roxie served us she had us hooked! She gave us great food & cigar recomendations, Nico was awesome too. 10/10 cant wait to come back
Our server, Ricky was absolutely awesome. He was very attentive, fast, friendly, and took care of us. The cigars were perfect and the drinks came quickly! This will be my go to spot for a good cigar by the River.
Came in and had the pleasure to meet and be served by this amazing bartender name Roxie, she was so attentive. I would be definitely be coming back to see her again. So full of joy. She brighten up the atmosphere.
was here yesterday. walked past it a few times and the ambience was very nice. so yesterday when it was not too busy i gave it a try. cannot eat seafood so i ordered a sandwich and idk that drink is mango sunrise? the sandwich is a lil bit dry but still good to eat, drink was good the red hair waitress took care of me really well eventhough i was so clueless lol. she's really sweet. a few servers at the bar were kinda funny too. it was my solo trip and this place gave me a gooood goooooood time. probably will come back if i have a chance to revisit San Antonio
God didn’t intend us to work an 8 to 5. This is a perfect getaway for some drinks and some cigars. A medium selection of cigars, but they’re fresh and the oysters are amazing. My server Frankie was on point and did a phenomenal job. This is the second time I’ve been here and I’ve never had any issues. I’m definitely coming back anytime I’m in San Antonio on the Riverwalk.
I am an executive and have been hiring for over 30 years. This place is getting 5 stars because someone made the smartest decision to hire Ricky. If I was a local, I would poach this employee. He is mature and customer focused beyond his years. Just a kind, professional, and cordial young man. We went to 2 high end restaurants this week and he was a better server than both of our waiters that obviously had many years on Ricky. Treasure him!! He is worth it!! Drinks were great. Jazz band was fun. Loved spending two hours with them!!
Came here for some snacks and drinks and were pleasantly surprised by the jazz music as well! Ricky was an absolute sweetheart; he was super attentive, friendly, and had a great attitude. Overall a great experience and would definitely come back!
Service and food are absolutely top-notch! The atmosphere is beautiful, with an elegant vibe that’s perfectly complemented by the smooth jazz playing in the background, adding a touch of class to the River Walk experience. The River Walk itself is amazing to explore, and this spot truly elevates it. The food, with its Creole-inspired flavors, is incredibly fresh and served quickly. The chef and server work seamlessly together, creating a perfect dining experience. The drinks are also exceptional! I enjoyed it so much that I went twice during my trip. Just a note—since it’s on the boardwalk, cigar prices are a bit higher, but there are still some more affordable options available. Highly recommend!
First time here and we went specifically for the oysters. The oyster and and shrimp tower were solid and the additional sides were tasty as well. I ordered the short rib and was really Impressed with flavor and tenderness of the meat as I didn’t need a knife. The meat literally fell off the bone. Adult drinks hit the spot and made just right. We didn’t stay long enough to hear the jazz band but the 90s music was a hit with our table. Our server Felipe “Lip” was very attentive as well. The only ding would be the restrooms needed servicing but I understand they are located in the Riverwalk and open to the public. It’s understandable that it may be difficult to keep it maintained.
ASK FOR PHILLIPE!!! If you can stand the heat, the live jazz outside is always a treat, but the atrium seating is the perfect combo of outdoor atmosphere on the Riverwalk and indoor AC. The food is stellar and the drinks are reasonably priced. Try the gulf oysters and the crawfish and shrimp potpie. The bloody Marys are also worth a try. Enjoy the atmosphere and the people while tasting the best the gulf has to offer.
Best live music joint for jazz, blues, and pop on the San Antonio Riverwalk. Food and drinks were good, but this venue is all about the music. The band stage is footsteps away from the river and is a great place to sit and have a drink, or stop , and have a listen as you are walking by. Check it out.
What a great location at the Riverwalk!! We were lucky enough to grab a table at the outside bar with a table overlooking the water and right in front of their great jazz band. Hands down my favorite dish was the very unique Oyster Muffaletta that combines two of the foods I love most...and yes, this oyster tastes just like that famous New Orleans sandwich. Second favorite dish was the Oyster Kilpatrick...also a very unique twist on a baked oyster & very delicious. We had a great time & will definitely go back again next time I'm looking for a great meal & time in San Antonio!!
A great place to dine right on the river. The service was fantastic and the food was wonderful. I would highly recommend the peeling eat shrimp. Spicy and delicious. The salmon was a little dry but the flavor was excellent. The best part was the music. We sat through 2 jazz bands and it was a wonderful feel.
The peel and eat shrimp was good but the spinach dip was grainy and gross and the rockefeller oysters were not good. We ended up leaving all but the shrimp and going to eat elsewhere. It’s nice if you want to just grab a drink by the river but heads up that there will be ducks, pigeons, and other birds begging for food out there.
Overall food /service was great, cigars great. Drinks not so much ordered a double shot jack and coke and barely tasted jack. My wife and aunts drink were little weak on the alcohol. Other than that .i would have given 5 star
Never quite had such flavorless seafood in my life. Been all around the world and had the good the bad but this was the ugly. Oysters had a lot of shell and grit in them. And both the oysters and shrimp tasted like they were frozen before. The atmosphere was nice and the waitress was awesome. For the price to go have a shared dinner over $100, not a fan. Cannot suggest.
Have not eaten here, have gotten cigars and went to the top deck. The drinks taste off. From a gin and tonic to a buffalo with 7 (start). Up to the service has been very very slow. Nice view to have a cigar watching the river but…..
I ordered the peel and eat shrimp. My husband ordered the gumbo. This was - hands down - the worst shrimp I have ever had. The shrimp had to have been frozen and thawed multiple times to get the texture it had. It was so bad that it was not finished. My husband's gumbo was cold with no flavor, and the sausage was not andouille. The only reason for the 2 star was the service. A live band was playing tonight.
Friends, we just left Paesanos Riverwalk and had an amazing experience with the service and the food (see previous review)! We walked over to On the Bend to have a cigar to finish the evening and we were met with such an aggressive and rude behavior from one of the waitress!!! We walked up to the cigar case (that was unlocked) like Sunday evening when we were there and opened it to see what we wanted to try. On this particular night (Tuesday, March 18, 2025) the waitress in the attached photo walked up to me and snatched the cigar I wished to purchase out of my hand and slammed the cigar cased closed in my face! She screamed at me that we should not be picking our own cigar and had a horrible attitude. Again, we were here on Sunday night as well and we were ALLOWED to open the unlocked cigar case and choose the cigar of our preference. I stated to her that her tone and aggressive demeanor was unnecessary and we were only doing what we thought was acceptable because of our previous experience. Well she did not care and told us we could leave if we didn’t like it. Initially we did leave, but I couldn’t accept that behavior because we were having such an amazing evening and I didn’t feel we deserved such a hateful attitude. We returned a few minutes later and I spoke with the manager named Jessica and I expressed my concerns about the disheartening experience with her waitress. Jessica was very nice and she did everything she could to make it right and try to help us have a better experience. We declined the invitation because we were so disappointed that we were treated so poorly. I really hate that we had truly enjoyed our experience with this restaurant up until the encounter! I won’t go back and I visit San Antonio often. It just felt too personal and somewhat prejudice. Never again for me!!!
Rating solely on the "cigar lounge" portion... Hostess was kind and pointed me in the direction of the bar, which is where the humidor was located. My expectations of a lounge would include a walk-in humidor. This place has a walk-by humidor. Yep, so small I walked by it. Full capacity would be 20 boxes max. This one had five or six boxes of cigars and nothing exciting to offer. I even worried if the humidor was functioning properly. Oh, well... maybe next time.
This place was the worst restaurant experience i ever had. There was 0 alcohol in the daiquiri which was all ice and the flavor of the strawberry was ultra tart and not good. We mentioned to staff and they said there was alcohol in it, but there was no burn\bite so totally made up. They returned with a half shot for my friend and i to split. $10 for a 12oz not even decent size. Also we sat down for live jazz music and the musicians immediately took a break. As ee were leaving they returned and didn't even play jazz. They started a terrible rendition of stand by me 👎👎👎 There's nothing but bars and restaurants here. Go to any other one.
During our visit to San Antonio, we discovered a restaurant located right on the Riverwalk. The menu looked promising, so we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere was average, lacking any particular excitement. Upon being seated, our young waitresses took our order. I requested a Modelo canned beer but was served a Dos Equis instead—close, but not quite the same. We started with the Spinach and Artichoke dip, a dozen oysters, and a cup of gumbo. The dip was decent, though the highlight was the chips, which seemed to be from the bottom of the bag, consisting mostly of bits and pieces. The oysters were disappointing, as they contained sand and had an unpleasant aftertaste. The gumbo, while flavorful, was marred by a mishap when the waitress spilled most of it on the way to our table, creating a mess on the table, our napkins, and the floor, yet she did not bother to clean it up, appearing preoccupied with other tasks. She also failed to check in on us for another drink, correct my beer order, or inquire if everything was satisfactory. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially considering the restaurant’s location in a fantastic hotel. It was certainly not worth the time.
The staff was super friendly and so nice, One of the members met us with a booming voice and it was awesome!! The food was lacking, we got that tower with shrimp and oysters, the oysters had this weird after taste, they were not cleaned properly, and the shrimp was kinda rubbery. But the cocktail sauce just needed a little lemon and it was good, the crap dip was pretty good. And the drinks were on point
