We stayed at palace grand hotel varese as a couple to assess it as the hotel of choice to spend our wedding nights next year and were positively impressed. From the point you arrive you feel like you’re stepping into a movie scenery. The hotel is located in a hilltop park with a large parking right next to the hotel (guarded). One note is that for electric car owners: there’s only one charging spot yet there are numerous available in the city of varese itself. The entire hotel has this historic grandeur that comes over you from the point you drive up, walk into the lobby with the large ceilings, peaky blinders looking bar and rooms. The pool is quite recent and a welcome feat especially in the August heat. Gym is quite small with limited free weights but has everything you need, with the park itself being a beautiful location for a run. Hotel also offers a restaurant and possibility for lunch (light lunch at the bar close to the pool is also possible). We stayed at a high floor allowing for a breathtaking view of Varese and the lake, the only downside is that there’s only one elevator which can be a bit tricky in the morning breakfast rush hour. Overall, positive impression of the hotel and choice made to come back.

Absolutely lovely hotel. It was a grand old lady. The building and grounds were gorgeous and it was lovely to sit outside drinking cocktails in the shade. The pool area is lovely. The shuttle service offered by the hotel was also super convenient. Will definitely be going back!

This is an absolutely stunning hotel, perched high atop a hill, with the most parking we encountered anywhere this trip. The hotel itself somewhat reminds me of the movie the Grand Budapest Hotel due to its classic elegance and refined staff. The rooms are large for anywhere but especially so in Europe, the bar is perfect, and the restaurant is excellent. Unfortunately, the weather was not the best while we were here so we could not utilize it, but they have a beautiful curved courtyard where people can dine outdoors. Our room also had a great view of Lake Varese.

I have stayed previously at Palace Grand Hotel in Varese and this time was even more exceptional. The location, hotel facilities, rooms and the pool are exceptional!

Great location on a hill with beautiful lake views, especially in the morning if you book a lake-view room. The rooms are a bit old-fashioned but clean and comfortable. The hotel could use some updating, but the staff more than make up for it: friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming.

A nice hotel with good service and excellent breakfast - but one has to be lucky with the room one gets. We had to switch rooms because of the noise. Also the air conditioning is controlled in a peculiar way, allowing only limited control. Great swimming pool and outdoor bar. Overall we enjoyed the stay!

Beautiful grounds and pool, dated hotel in desperate need of a makeover. It could be incredible. Rooms need to be redone as the walls are too thin and you can hear everything from your neighbors room, including snoring. If they went through a makeover, the well heeled from Milan would come in droves. Sad to see a grand dame property in this state.

Lovely grand entrance and service was great. Fantastic views as well. Rooms however are outdated and pillows uncomfortable and the bathroom was terrible, Shower was so small I could barely fit my 160 lbs body.

The experience started well as the place is beautiful, clean, view is breathtaking and the cleaning and restaurant staff were very kind. However, the reception staff was very unwelcoming and rude the whole stay and on our last day it escalated. After 5 days of ordering at the bar every day, having diner at their pricy restaurant and paying for 4 rooms, we asked to use the pool after checkout as our flight was late we’ve been told we have to pay 160€ to stay at the pool area, even though half of us didn’t want to enter the pool itself. At first we’ve been told it’s an insurance issue and then the manager told us it’s for people who are checking in early and the pool was empty!!! We weren’t allowed to sit at the grass next to the pool and we’ve been told that they will check on us on the cams if we do. We are people who travel a lot and never been treated like that!!! Additionally, at one of the nights we were there there was a private event, which occupied a large part of the outdoor sitting area and had a loud music on until late.

Terrible experience – booking cancelled without notice I booked a room at Palace Grand Hotel Varese months in advance via Booking.com for an important wedding stay. Out of nowhere, the hotel canceled my reservation because my payment details didn’t go through (my credit card had changed since I booked). Instead of contacting me to update the details or at least holding the room, they did absolutely nothing. They had all my contact information, but never tried to reach me. I only found out when it was too late. Now there’s no availability anywhere in Varese and we are left without accommodation for a very important event. This is unacceptable customer service. A hotel of this supposed standard should never just cancel without giving the guest a chance to resolve the issue. Very disappointing and would not recommend trusting them with your reservation.
