Booked a table here due to a recommendation from friends. The Caprese salad was fine, tasted exactly like a regular salad but in a different form. The primi pastas were the highlight of our night. I loved my risotto, it was perfectly cooked in a beautiful light sauce w sweet prawns and semi-dried tomatoes. My boyfriend loved his gnocchi too. We both said they were the best pasta dishes we’ve ever had. The pork belly wasnt as amazing but it was still good. We also shared a delightful tiramisu. Would recommend booking in advance.

This was the best meal that I had in Venice. The grilled octopus, risotto with prawns, and spaghetti with duck and orange sauce were incredible. The ambience was perfect as a couple but also great for anyone looking for a quiet, relaxed meal. The waiters were friendly, no negatives!

We had one of our best meals at Hostaria Castello. They made a vegetarian version of the gnocchi that was outstanding. The parmigiana was delicious and the tiramisu was the best we had on our trip. Service was great, our waiter was attentive and the atmosphere was warm and cozy. They serve their own home made bread. The caprese appetizer was a little disappointing - it's a tomato stuffed with burrata. It looked lovely but was overpriced for a tiny portion. Overall a fantastic choice and we loved our meal!

There are many restaurants in Venice but many are just reheating ready prepared meals, they don’t have kitchens. This one is different it’s the real deal. Went on a Monday night. It holds about 25 people so I’d book in advance. Staff were very helpful even advising me on the best wine to accompany my meal. Food - outstanding and beautifully presented. I had the liver and polenta main course (a local delicacy) and couldn’t fault it. If I came back to Venice this would be my first choice. If you want to go I’d advise booking on line as you’d be luck to get a “walk in” table.

Overall excellent experience! One of my girlfriends came here for dinner on a family vacation and raved about it. Me and my husband made a reservation while we were on the plane over to Italy for our honeymoon. Their house made bread was so satisfying to start. We got cocktails, red wine, the caprese appetizer (incredible in taste and presentation), the eggplant parm and the gnocchi. Everything was immaculate. We were so sad to be so stuffed to not be able to squeeze in dessert. The staff was so nice, very attentive and timed every course perfectly. Very much enjoyed our experience on our first night in Venice!

Amazing dinner with top class service. Had been recommended to eat here and had the pasta pesto with scallops, probably the nicest dish I have had in Italy! We also had the hummus and shrimp dish for starters to share and it was very original and tasty Restaurant is a little off the beaten track, probably wouldn’t have spotted except it was recommended. Was very quiet when we were there but it’s a hidden gem, you won’t be disappointed if you go for it!

Most restaurants offer pretty much the same food in Venice. And whilst Castello has some familiar things on the menu it's a bit quirky and the food is a much higher standard for not that much more. We had hummus/prawns and caprese to start, gnocchi with cuttlefish and ink and tagliatelle with scallops for first course. Shared a tiramisu with some desert wine (which they very kindly gave us for free!). Best meal we had in Venice.

A bit pricy for us, but it was OK with such an atmosphere. Great food as well. We love the flavour of the cod starter — the cod itself was a bit salty, but it tasted very good when mixed with others. The prawns in the risotto were the best in our whole lunch. The risotto itself was a bit hard (like typical Italian style), but in terms of its flavour, the dish was great overall.

Piccolo ristorante con un numero limitato di tavoli, a dieci minuti da P.zza San Marco. Molto curati e ben realizzati i piatti proposti, decisamente originali negli accostamenti. Servizio in sala garbato e attento. Tempi di attesa prima di degustare l'antipasto inizialmente un po' lunghi, se avessero offerto nel frattempo una piccola entrée probabilmente la criticità saltava meno all'occhio. Il livello del ristorante è sicuramente alto, motivo per cui a nostro parere avrebbero dovuto proporre dei piatti alternativi a quei due che oggi non erano disponibili a menù ovvero quelli a base di tonno. Tavoli senza tovaglie. Prenotazione obbligatoria. Nessuna possibilità di mangiare all'aperto.

Una cucina "buona", ma che fatica a distinguersi in un panorama competitivo come quello locale. ​La nota più dolente riguarda tuttavia la politica dei prezzi della cantina. Pur consapevoli dei costi gestionali legati alla città di Venezia, abbiamo riscontrato ricarichi superiori al 300% rispetto ai prezzi franco cantina. Una scelta che reputiamo eccessiva e che penalizza l'esperienza complessiva, rendendo il conto finale poco proporzionato all'effettivo valore dell'offerta.
