I genuinely don't understand why people are complaining about this place. There is ALWAYS people LINED UP to order from this place constantly, and there are so many satisfied customers in the dining area! This IS the best Teriyaki Chicken I have ever tasted. EVER. No exaggeration. I've been to many restaurants that have served the dish around NYC; not a single one could outcompete Sarku Japan's version. I have ordered from this place for nearly 20 YEARS and not once have I ever received any bad service, undercooked food or any inconsistent flavor of their iconic Teriyaki Chicken. The fact that they have been so faithful to their original recipe at such an amazing price whilst providing vegetables and rice at a cheap (2022) $8.20 USD— they have my upmost respect!

Another spot in Newport Centre's food court, my daughter had the Teriyaki Chicken w/fried rice, while I ate somewhere else.. She let me taste her dish and it was VERY flavorful, If she wants this again, its definitely worth the trip.. Service was on point too....

I LOVE SARKU JAPAN! That’s my to go place to eat when I go to the mall .. love love love it

Overall, the food was the same as any other Sarku place I’ve visited so far and the line is much shorter compared to Panda Express if you want a quick bite. The only negative thing is that the worker is multitasking a lot between the chefs and customers that he sometimes doesn’t hear your order correctly . I ordered chicken teriyaki but with more vegetables than rice and they gave me barely any vegetables and piled up a bunch of of rice. Hopefully the service is better when there’s less commotion.

I tried the chicken teriyaki meal, which comes with 2 spring rolls and an option to choose between a drink and bottled water. The food was okay and the service was fast. No complaints ✅️

Wish portions were more generous without having to request for a fee, overall food is good/decent for mall teppanyaki

Very affordable and fast, but that's about it. Ordered bento box with rice chicken teriyaki, dumplings, sushi and some vegetables just over $11 after tax. Vegetables seriously were mostly cabbage plus two broccoli 🥦, and not too appetizing. Lots of choices in the food court, but this is competitive on price.

Okay food. Portion of shrimp was smaller than I expected. Dumplings were cold.

I like their deal on the chicken teriyaki. Other than that it is a pretty mainstream takeout quality food. But ironically, among the other take out options in the mall, this actually isn't bad in comparison, and arguably healthier than the likes of fried chicken.

Ordered Teriyaki Chicken @ 11:15, gave us leftover white rice which is hard & cold. If u served leftover to your customers, you should microwaved it. Wonder why they always offered 2nd teriyaki chicken @ 50%! This is not the way to do business.

Service was fast and easy but the rice had no flavor and the chicken was made to carry the whole meal and the vegetables same deal no flavor I had the chicken teriyaki honestly they can do better I feel

Very disorganized as far as knowing when to grab your order that is mixed with other orders. Customer service needs to be addressed.

We went to the Newport Center Mall and the food was bland. They charge extra for fried rice and it was just lump of rice with literally no veggies. Also, the chicken roll had only veggies. Never gonna go again.

Disgusting!!! Dry and tasteless rice with vegetables from frozen veg bags. Genuinely THE WORST. Yuck!!! Stay away, simply a waste of money.

Food arrived two and a half hours late. We kept waiting and the delivery time kept getting pushed out. After an hour of this we got frustrated and ordered from Ubereats. The Grubhub app wouldn’t let us cancel the order so then finally after another hour and a half this food came. And it wasn’t even good. They gave me mushy rice instead of noodles and the protein portions were small. Not the Sarku I remember liking at one point, will definitely not be going back. And I probably will switch to Ubereats as well after this experience because of the fees that Grubhub charged me for and did not reimburse, and the way they made it impossible to cancel an order.

Even though I got my money back from GrubHub, I wish I never tried to eat it. I'm surprised my stomach didn't react poorly , the food was cold and whatever is fried or baked was cold as well. And not due to the time delivery takes, but more of the time it took to cook was shortened / undercooked. Sushi rolls tasted old, and rice wasnt evenly cooked. Maybe the Bayonne location is better?

Honestly really bad customer service experience. They have good deals posted around but don’t honor them. And when asked about the deal, the cashier totally dismissed me and told me to put my card in. Unfortunate because the food is pretty good but the cashier was rude .

I paid almost $10 for small Itty bitty pieces of teriyaki chicken dry white rice and very little vegetables. The pictures are false advertising. I should have gotten Chick Fil A.

Joshua claims to be a manager. He is very unprofessional, rude, and fraudulent. They are very negligent. Came home with the wrong order. He denied providing the corporate contact number and refunding my food.

My mother recently suffered from a mild stroke. So speaking is difficult. Instead of having patience the manager I would assume yelled at my mother and told her she was wrong about what she ordered. Terrible service and unprofessional attitude.

Either he’s blind or he owns that franchise because I don’t feel like I’ve gotten my moneys worth. They cook their chicken and let it sit on the end of the grill. Lots of burnt bits on the meats. Veggies are dry and discolored. Displeased experience majority of the time I come here. Never again.

One of the guy seems to be sick and was coughing directly into the food. Two of the 3 didn’t even wear gloves (I can see their hands touching the salad).
