Los Tapatios is a popular spot known for its authentic Mexican cuisine and friendly staff. Customers rave about the delicious food, especially the tacos and margaritas. Taco Tuesday is a hit, but be prepared for it to be busy. Some customers have reported slow service at times.

Tip: Visit on Tuesdays for the $0.99 taco special, but be aware that it can get very busy. The frozen margaritas are highly recommended.

this was so buss! i came here for the special w my friend and omg the tacos were sooooo good 🤤 we also ordered churros, which were the best i’ve ever had. must try!!!
This was my first time at this restaurant and I was very pleased! The food was very good. Fresh and delicious. I felt bad for the waitresses as I believe there was only 2 working and it was very busy! I will not hold it against her forgetting our extra napkins and the time taking a little long for food to come out. We will definitely be back!
Los Tapatios is awesome. Great food at great prices and the staff is friendly. Make sure to stop over on Tuesdays for $0.99 tacos!
Best place around! Amazing food, great staff, awesome environment. Never disappointed with the experience! One of our top favorite go to spots in the area!
Woweeee taco tuesday!!! Yum yum yum the birria tacos were definitely the best!!! Next time im just getting those. Nothing else. Well worth the wait! The lady serving us disappeared lol and I think forgot about us for... at least 1/2 an hour. It was hard to get the attention of any of them just to ask for a box haha but anyway. That was the only thing that could be better.
Food came hot and was pretty tasty. You have to try the frozen margaritas here they are simply amazing and not too heavy on the alcohol. I gave it a four for the atmosphere because it was cold inside. The waiting staff all stopped by to ensure I was well taken care of. Highly recommend!
It's been 4 years since my last review, and I decided to give Los Tapatios another shot. I'm happy to say that I'm glad I did, as most everything about this experience was much better than what I remember from my last experience. Los Tapatios was a great stop for some authentic mexican food this weekend. During COVID their bar is currently not open, but they are doing indoor seating with the requirement to wait for a table outside if they are at full capacity. On this visit I ordered the "pick 3" plate with Chile Relleno, Burrito, and a Chicken Quesadilla with a side of Tamales for our table to share. (Side rant, the pick 3 is only 50 cents more than the pick 2. Who in their right mind would ever do the pick two over the pick three? Just take the leftovers home for lunch the next day!) I was happy to see the tamales were wrapped in corn husks, as is authentic, and they were delicious. The pick three is plenty of food and on this visit allowed for me to take some home for lunch the following day. The service was good! Wait staff was always prompt with topping off drinks. We did have a little wait for our food, however it was a busy night and the wait was not terribly long, maybe 15-17 minutes? Overall, a much better experience than my first experience and Los Tapatios will be added back in to my rotation of dine-in restraints for the foreseeable future.
Tapatios was my family’s Mexican restaurant of choice growing up, so my review is a little biased in that I have the nostalgia glasses on when I eat here. That being said, I think it’s fully decent food, if not totally authentic Mexican. Lots of variety on the menu. I mostly eat vegetarian, and they have a good number of vegetarian options, but I do really like their seafood dishes. I don’t think anything on the menu is totally vegan as-is, but you could probably make some of the vegetarian specials vegan by requesting no cheese. The food is tasty and I would say well-prepared even if the presentation isn’t always fancy. It does tend to be salty. If you like cheese, any of the cheese-based dishes like cheese enchiladas or chiles poblanos will delight because they are very cheesy. Their chips and salsa are great – the chips always come out warm and the salsa is simple but fresh. First batch of chips and salsa are complimentary and refills are pretty cheap. I tried the “Cinco de Melón” margarita this time, a frozen watermelon margarita with lots of Tajin. It was a good margarita – I really liked the spicy Tajin with the watermelon, and the drink was appropriately strong. Always friendly service, and fun atmosphere. In my experience the service is almost never slow. The waitress on our last visit was actually a little too attentive, it felt like she was coming by every few minutes while we were eating to ask if we needed anything, but definitely better too much than too little. I’ve visited some other Mexican-American restaurants in the area in the past few years and it seems to me that the quality and degree of "authenticity" at Tapatios is comparable to similar places, so my family continues to come here because of proximity and familiarity.
This is a really casual but delicious and affordable Mexican restaurant. I’ve been going since I was in high school. I’m a big fan of the cheese dip and the quesadillas. The mushroom and spinach quesadilla in particular are delicious. On Tuesday they do a taco Tuesday with 99cent tacos but it gets busy fast so come early!
I really LOVE Mexican food so after reading the 4 star reviews, I was really looking forward to eating at Los Tapatios. Unfortunately, the fish tacos were so salty that I had to force myself to eat them. The kind waitresses came to our table a few times to ask if everything was fine, but I did didn't have the courage to tell them. Really, I should have asked for them to be remade, as they were not cheap and it's unpleasant to eat overly salty food. My daughters dish, rice and chicken was tasty. The free salsa was not bad, not the best.
Salsa tastes above and beyond. Actually, it has some, not a lot, zest to it like you would expect. The steak they use or prepare for their fajitas has some sort of flavoring. I'm not sure what it is, but it is good. I knock a star off this place because there isn't anything over the top that makes it "great." Would I go back? Yes, absolutely. Nothing food wise is bad. The second one I knock off is for the 4% you charge for using a card. I haven't been to many places restaurant wise up North, but let me tell you something. This is not common practice anywhere below Kentucky. Matter of fact, I'm going to go on a limb here and say out of the 1200+ cities and counties I've been to in the last 8 years, I work on the road all over the country, this may be the only one I've seen do this. Unless I've missed the find print somewhere. You at least have Coke here instead of Pepsi, so that is a plus.
It’s a cute restaurant close to Binghamton University. Their staffs and servers have great courtesy, but I can not give so much credit to their food. The quality of the food was less than average. The portions of the Lunch Specials are so small, you can check my photos, so if you are starving and walking in there, you need to order at least two of their lunch specials, which will be the same price as other options on the menu. Even I had the coupon from Localflavor; it still doesn’t worth it. I am not recommending the chicken taco, either chicken enchiladas and chicken chimichanga. They made it with can chickens and did not taste good at all. Chicken fajitas were ok but not like the photos on their menu. Make sure to try their ice cream; it was good.
Walking into Tapatios with my friends, we were seated immediately but had to wait an hour for our drinks (fountain sodas). We ordered street tacos. My tacos were Al Pastor and they were good. My friend got steak tacos that were extremely dry. I did not like that the tacos did not have double tortilla. Also, there is no sauce and you are given only one lime wedge. The rice that comes with the order had good flavor but had a hard texture which I did not like. Finally, we ordered the tres leches cake which was not authenthic whatsoever. It for some reason was brought out hot
A disservice to Mexican cuisine. Their refried beans and rice plate is what I imagine prison cuisine to look and taste like. (Will update if I have the privilege) One of the menu items stated it was served with limeS...we received half of one wedge...when we asked for some more lime, they charged us $2 for one more wedge of lime - what an ode to Mexican culture. The rest of the food was ok, nothing to write home about. Would do for sustenance purposes.
Worst service of my life. 17 minutes from being seated for a waiter to stop at my table is crazy. Then the host didn’t even give us the correct menus and the owner thinks it’s the customers fault because “I should’ve spoke up that I was ready”….
Worse experience ever. Went to celebrate granddaughters 30th birthday. Waited for drinks 20 minutes and food 45 minutes only asking where are food was. Terrible food. One dish had a hair in it after first bite and couldn't eat it. Chicken was not cooked. Taste awful and only saw waitress twice Complained to her about hair and bad service. Will never to back. She did take a meal off bill but the food was awful.
