My boyfriend and I have been coming here for a little over a year, and we absolutely love it here! The staff is so friendly and amazing. You always see a familiar face every time you come in! We always leave full and happy!
The food is always good here. We walked in at 7:30, noticed they were closing at 8. They still served us. Quick service, food was delicious! I love the salsa and beans.
Went in for lunch today. The service was friendly and quick. The steak tacos were top notch, highly recommend!! Yum!
I come to tapatios every week with my friends, and they’re extremely accommodating whether we’re 4 people or 14. The tacos are flavorful and moist every time, and the birria is definitely a fan favorite. The vibes are exquisite and so are the servers. Bathroom is also very clean
Los Tapatios is one of my favorite restaurants. The servers genuinely care about your dining experience. The food here is absolutely delicious. It’s all authentic, and homemade.
Food was delicious. Service was fast. Courteous and helpful.
Used to be one of my top favorite local spots. Last few times I’ve been hasn’t been a great experience. I ordered take out. I was given two bags and told that was it. Then after arriving home I got a call saying there was an additional bag and I had to drive all the way bag. They didn’t want to do anything to compensate and the young woman at the counter has been very rude upon each visit. They need to improve their customer service standards because they are low.
Always have the best experience eating here - very, very kind service and always quick to get us our meals. Always delicious and amazing prices.
I don’t think I can count the amount of times we’ve come here. Los Tapatios is where we come to eat when we’re happy, when we’re sad, when we’re bored, when we’re celebrating, and everything in between. The food is amazing. The staff is friendly. The atmosphere is great. The prices are fair. Keep up the great work!
We come here at least twice a month. The staff are always so accommodating and pleasant. We think the food is excellent. Best Mexican restaurant in the southern tier.
Visiting my hometown from Florida, this was my first visit with a friend of mine. Actually much better than Tampa Florida. The staff were kind the authentic Mexican food was awsome. Thank you!
Went for Taco Tuesday for the first time. There was a 45 min wait and I totally understand why. $1 birria tacos AND $1 shots of tequila? Totally worth it. The tacos were amazing, especially for the price. The bartenders and staff are all so friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend going here.
The best Mexican food I’ve had in the area. Friendly staff as well
Hands down the best Mexican food I've had since I moved from South Texas. It is more on the authentic side than the normal TexMex but they really make the flavors work. Definitely recommend trying unless you barely like salt and pepper as other restaurants in the area use.
The margaritas are amazing! Definitely worth the money, and they don't skimp on the alcohol. The food is delicious and it's brought out to you fairly quickly after you order. And even if there was a wait they give you chips and salsa for the table which is so good that I'd probably go there just for that. I've been going here for years and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys Mexican style food.
Absolutely love this place. I've traveled all over the east coast for work amd eat at a lot of Spanish restaurants. Specially authentic ones. And I really love this place out of all others around the area like it. There salsa is the best! Get the chipolte 🌯!
Disappointed in MYSELF for not trying this place sooner! Delicious food, cute interior, the music is perfect for that little happy dance you do when you eat great food. Crab chimichangas were an interesting flavor combination and a great one, at that. Will definitely be returning.
Loved it all, great meal! Awesome prices! Staff was excellent!
Great place to eat! The food and experience is always top notch!
$1 house tequila is the way to go for a good time. And if it is your birthday, definitely make sure you tell them, you won't be disappointed. My favorite is Birria soup which is hard to find, but it is only a seasonal special. Everything is good here so you can't really miss if you enjoy Mexican food.
this was so buss! i came here for the special w my friend and omg the tacos were sooooo good 🤤 we also ordered churros, which were the best i’ve ever had. must try!!!
This was my first time at this restaurant and I was very pleased! The food was very good. Fresh and delicious. I felt bad for the waitresses as I believe there was only 2 working and it was very busy! I will not hold it against her forgetting our extra napkins and the time taking a little long for food to come out. We will definitely be back!
Los Tapatios is awesome. Great food at great prices and the staff is friendly. Make sure to stop over on Tuesdays for $0.99 tacos!
Best place around! Amazing food, great staff, awesome environment. Never disappointed with the experience! One of our top favorite go to spots in the area!
Woweeee taco tuesday!!! Yum yum yum the birria tacos were definitely the best!!! Next time im just getting those. Nothing else. Well worth the wait! The lady serving us disappeared lol and I think forgot about us for... at least 1/2 an hour. It was hard to get the attention of any of them just to ask for a box haha but anyway. That was the only thing that could be better.
Food came hot and was pretty tasty. You have to try the frozen margaritas here they are simply amazing and not too heavy on the alcohol. I gave it a four for the atmosphere because it was cold inside. The waiting staff all stopped by to ensure I was well taken care of. Highly recommend!
It's been 4 years since my last review, and I decided to give Los Tapatios another shot. I'm happy to say that I'm glad I did, as most everything about this experience was much better than what I remember from my last experience. Los Tapatios was a great stop for some authentic mexican food this weekend. During COVID their bar is currently not open, but they are doing indoor seating with the requirement to wait for a table outside if they are at full capacity. On this visit I ordered the "pick 3" plate with Chile Relleno, Burrito, and a Chicken Quesadilla with a side of Tamales for our table to share. (Side rant, the pick 3 is only 50 cents more than the pick 2. Who in their right mind would ever do the pick two over the pick three? Just take the leftovers home for lunch the next day!) I was happy to see the tamales were wrapped in corn husks, as is authentic, and they were delicious. The pick three is plenty of food and on this visit allowed for me to take some home for lunch the following day. The service was good! Wait staff was always prompt with topping off drinks. We did have a little wait for our food, however it was a busy night and the wait was not terribly long, maybe 15-17 minutes? Overall, a much better experience than my first experience and Los Tapatios will be added back in to my rotation of dine-in restraints for the foreseeable future.
I really wanted to like this place. The atmosphere was like most american-mexican / Tex-Mex restaurants. It was fine. The menu was extensive and the drinks were large, although not very strong or flavorful. The biggest disappointment was the cheese dip that was listed as an appetizer and accompanied many of the food items on the menu. It was extremely watery and not very flavorful at all. When I asked about it, I was told "this is what we have tonight, yes," which indicated to me that they knew that it was substandard but were serving it anyways. Not a super great enticement for me to return.
We've gone multiple times now and the food & service is always impeccable! My only complaint is the booths are very uncomfortable. However, the rest more than makes up for it!
It was Taco Tuesday. If I had known in advance I would have gone elsewhere, as we were not looking to have tacos. They sat us in a booth that was very narrow between the table and the seats. They were very busy, refused to split our bill, and mixed up our orders. The food was good, once we swapped the plates around. I most likely will not go back, and if I do it will not be on a Tuesday.
I've never had a bad meal at Los Tapatios. The menu is quite large so it's a little overwhelming for those of us not exposed to Mexican food regularly. The Mango margarita was also very delish 🍹. They were extremely busy when we went so our waitress wasnt able to provide the service expected. This was no fault to her as it was obvious she was doing her best. Definitely worth the trip.
The food is good and the staff is friendly but the place smells like chlorine and looks like it needs a serious deep cleaning.
They started us with chips and salsa the salsa was spicy. We ordered a side of Quacamole and that was good. I had the Tejanas Fajitas that was pretty good. I also got a 99 cent beef taco that wasn't bad. We went on Tuesday and they have 99 cent taos for taco Tuesday. My wife got a beef taco , chicken taco and a beef taco. She said they were all good. Staff was friendly and place was clean.
I’ve been going to this restaurant for 4 years now and it’s one of my favorite spots in Binghamton. I am writing this review in the hope that someone in management will see and take this feedback into consideration. The food and service is top notch (the birria tacos are amazing) but since I have been going the one recurring problem is the water. Almost every time that we get water there is a strong soapy flavor that makes the water undrinkable.
Food and service was wonderful!! My husband, kids and granddaughter accompanied me for my birthday. We didn't make a reservation, and they were prompt to accommodate us. Wait time was as expected, and the place was pretty full and busy!! A group gathered together to sing 'Happy Birthday' to me, and served us a complimentary dessert. We will definitely return.
Firstly, the service was great. Staff was amazing. But, the food was overpriced and mediocre. $10.99 for a very small quesadilla w/ mushrooms and a side of rice and beans.we ordered queso and it was $4.50 for a very small bowl and had the consistency of water (with little taste). very very disappointed in the food/prices, but had a great experience with staff. edit: came here many months later for $.99 tacos on tuesday. tacos were great!! will be back. food is more than worth the price on tuesdays :)
Tapatios was my family’s Mexican restaurant of choice growing up, so my review is a little biased in that I have the nostalgia glasses on when I eat here. That being said, I think it’s fully decent food, if not totally authentic Mexican. Lots of variety on the menu. I mostly eat vegetarian, and they have a good number of vegetarian options, but I do really like their seafood dishes. I don’t think anything on the menu is totally vegan as-is, but you could probably make some of the vegetarian specials vegan by requesting no cheese. The food is tasty and I would say well-prepared even if the presentation isn’t always fancy. It does tend to be salty. If you like cheese, any of the cheese-based dishes like cheese enchiladas or chiles poblanos will delight because they are very cheesy. Their chips and salsa are great – the chips always come out warm and the salsa is simple but fresh. First batch of chips and salsa are complimentary and refills are pretty cheap. I tried the “Cinco de Melón” margarita this time, a frozen watermelon margarita with lots of Tajin. It was a good margarita – I really liked the spicy Tajin with the watermelon, and the drink was appropriately strong. Always friendly service, and fun atmosphere. In my experience the service is almost never slow. The waitress on our last visit was actually a little too attentive, it felt like she was coming by every few minutes while we were eating to ask if we needed anything, but definitely better too much than too little. I’ve visited some other Mexican-American restaurants in the area in the past few years and it seems to me that the quality and degree of "authenticity" at Tapatios is comparable to similar places, so my family continues to come here because of proximity and familiarity.
This is a really casual but delicious and affordable Mexican restaurant. I’ve been going since I was in high school. I’m a big fan of the cheese dip and the quesadillas. The mushroom and spinach quesadilla in particular are delicious. On Tuesday they do a taco Tuesday with 99cent tacos but it gets busy fast so come early!
I am not a fan of the procedures at this restaurant or the food quality. We were not informed for multiple extra charges until receiving the bill, it would be proper practice to inform customers as they order. We were charged additional for queso (5$ is ridiculous), extra chips, to go boxes (even though we ordered full sized entrees). Also, we ordered the taco tuesday tacos on the side and they were cold, which is fine as they were $0.99. I would not return but the staff were amicable.
Chiles rellenos not originals, 3 tortillas for 3.99 wow...!!!
Three years ago this place was pretty good. It’s lost a star. The ground beef in the taco had no flavor, though the chili relleno was good. Tried to charge me $6.25 for a bottle of Yuengling beer and charge 4% service charge for using a credit card. At 4%, they’re trying to now to make money off a credit card user, not just cover the expense.
I got the chicken fajitas, don’t recommend. The menu say green peppers, onions and tomatoes as veggies and side og guac. The dish with overcooked onions and tomatoes, barely any green peppers and 2 bites of guac. For a Mexican restaurant this is average, a step up from Chipotle. Also the hostess kept rushing my order asking if I needed a minute if I asked a question about a dish. Overall not a good experience.
ordered 15 tacos, received 12 tacos & they still charged me for 15 tacos, i talked to the cashier about it and he didn’t discount all 3. I’m not upset about the few dollars extra they charged me but its the principle that rubs me the wrong way.
I really LOVE Mexican food so after reading the 4 star reviews, I was really looking forward to eating at Los Tapatios. Unfortunately, the fish tacos were so salty that I had to force myself to eat them. The kind waitresses came to our table a few times to ask if everything was fine, but I did didn't have the courage to tell them. Really, I should have asked for them to be remade, as they were not cheap and it's unpleasant to eat overly salty food. My daughters dish, rice and chicken was tasty. The free salsa was not bad, not the best.
Salsa tastes above and beyond. Actually, it has some, not a lot, zest to it like you would expect. The steak they use or prepare for their fajitas has some sort of flavoring. I'm not sure what it is, but it is good. I knock a star off this place because there isn't anything over the top that makes it "great." Would I go back? Yes, absolutely. Nothing food wise is bad. The second one I knock off is for the 4% you charge for using a card. I haven't been to many places restaurant wise up North, but let me tell you something. This is not common practice anywhere below Kentucky. Matter of fact, I'm going to go on a limb here and say out of the 1200+ cities and counties I've been to in the last 8 years, I work on the road all over the country, this may be the only one I've seen do this. Unless I've missed the find print somewhere. You at least have Coke here instead of Pepsi, so that is a plus.
It’s a cute restaurant close to Binghamton University. Their staffs and servers have great courtesy, but I can not give so much credit to their food. The quality of the food was less than average. The portions of the Lunch Specials are so small, you can check my photos, so if you are starving and walking in there, you need to order at least two of their lunch specials, which will be the same price as other options on the menu. Even I had the coupon from Localflavor; it still doesn’t worth it. I am not recommending the chicken taco, either chicken enchiladas and chicken chimichanga. They made it with can chickens and did not taste good at all. Chicken fajitas were ok but not like the photos on their menu. Make sure to try their ice cream; it was good.
Pros: Better food choice than fast food Cons: Mexican is my first choice when out and about but this was not up to par. Maybe they had an off day today but for the price, I will not be going back. P.S If you are asking me to tip the cook, at least make sure you give napkins and plastic forks.
I used to go here all the time. My last stop was awful. The Enchilada sauce was very clearly Italian pasta sauce from a jar or can. The tamale was rock hard. Everything was extremely salty. We asked if they had recently changed chefs and the waitress became defensive/offended and wondered why we would even ask such a question. Shame.
Stopped for lunch with my son before our campus tour and was disappointed from the start. Bathroom had no hand soap whatsoever. Waitress brought us a cup with a large crack that leaked all over the table and we couldn’t find her to help for 10 minutes. Chips were stale, queso incredibly runny. We ordered chicken fajitas and it was mostly overcooked onions and peppers, little chicken that lacked flavor. The lettuce that came out was brown and unappetizing.
Walking into Tapatios with my friends, we were seated immediately but had to wait an hour for our drinks (fountain sodas). We ordered street tacos. My tacos were Al Pastor and they were good. My friend got steak tacos that were extremely dry. I did not like that the tacos did not have double tortilla. Also, there is no sauce and you are given only one lime wedge. The rice that comes with the order had good flavor but had a hard texture which I did not like. Finally, we ordered the tres leches cake which was not authenthic whatsoever. It for some reason was brought out hot
A disservice to Mexican cuisine. Their refried beans and rice plate is what I imagine prison cuisine to look and taste like. (Will update if I have the privilege) One of the menu items stated it was served with limeS...we received half of one wedge...when we asked for some more lime, they charged us $2 for one more wedge of lime - what an ode to Mexican culture. The rest of the food was ok, nothing to write home about. Would do for sustenance purposes.
I ordered a burrito and they sent me an enchilada. The steak meal spilled all over the vegetarian dishes. Nothing could be eaten and I only received a $25 credit. They don't respect special requests or care about allergies.
Server was great, nice and attentive. Atmosphere was ok looked a little dingy. We were put off by the extra charges for everything including credit cards. But we go places for the food and this place is definitely cutting corners. Chile Rellenos not fresh, from a can always an indication of cheap alternatives. The carnitas meat in the enchiladas tasted salty and old not fresh, sauce was thin and tasted canned. The cheese in the enchiladas was consistency of velveeta/queso dip, not real melted cheese. The street taco steak was flavorless, hard, dry and chewy like jerky, and the limes to squeeze on them were also dry. The rice was stale. Worst meal I have had in a long time.
food is so poor quality & the beans are literally slop put on the plate. food is damn near inedible & i honestly don’t know how it got past health & safety inspections. store needs to be closed asap. then he has the nerve to ask if i want to tip the waiter? my palette is currently getting cleansed with candy. 0/10
Let’s start off by saying I got into a verbal argument with the manager. My two friends and my husband went there for the taco night deals and margs. We went in there and got screamed at to go back to our car and wait. We would’ve done this without being yelled at, but long story short if you want professionalism don’t go here. I hear the food is mid anyways.
Has gone down hill in the past few months! Haciendas is much better and actually cares about their customers.
We did not have the best experience at this restaurant. We tried to order (over the phone) from something that was advertised on the online menu and for some reason the man on the phone said they weren’t “doing that anymore”……. if it’s advertised on your menu, you should have it. If it’s not available take it off the menu to avoid headache and hassle. I asked for a side of guacamole and at first it was 1.99 then he switched to 2.99 as did the sour cream and pico… Food was mediocre at best. Chips were stale, quesadilla was salty and runny.. looked and tasted like they used spray cheese for the cheese.. the hard taco was soggy by the time we picked it up. Overall was just not a good experience. Will never visit back again.
Absolutely awful experience. The waitress brought me the wrong drink, then after I ordered my food brought my food over however I ordered rice with my meal and they didn’t tell me they were out of rice until after I sat there for 20 minutes waiting. Following that, they told me I could get something else if I wanted to since they didn’t have what I originally ordered (two tacos and rice). I ordered a beef taco….. once again brought me the wrong one. I understand it was busy but come on.
Went on taco Tuesday to experience the rave about this place on a double date. Bill for both parties came to $66.56. Which for what we got was great. But they refused to split the check to what party got what. So whatever we figured we’d pay 50/50 with our cards. Staff absolutely REFUSED. Apparently dividing $66.56 was just too hard for them to do. It honestly would’ve been super easy to run both cards for half of each amount. I was not asking for rocket science to be done. Such infuriating customer service. And don’t get me wrong I’d understand if they were busy and there was a line waiting to pay and go. This happened later in the afternoon when there was only one other party waiting to pay and leave. Would’ve just taken a few seconds to do what we asked.
THEY TOOK A $1.09 tip out of my credit account after I had to literally debate with the owner as to why I did not VOLUNTARILY tip the person who served me. First of all, the chips was so stale I had to see a dentist after eating here then I waited over 10 minutes for two tacos that I never complained about waiting for and after that every thing else seemed to come faster but sloppy. I was very disappointed but I did not say anything and decided to never return to this establishment. The owner basically argued at me for not giving a tip and that's bad business... He should not be serving anyone with his personality.... That could've been all the money I had.. He was also very rude to one of his employees. I can make my own tacos and enchiladas for better service.
Selfish owners. We called to let the restaurant know that we were 7 people coming for a birthday party. They advise that they don't take reservations, so we were forewarned. The real issue is when we got here. We got out of our vehicles, went inside and we were told that they were too crowded and they were not seating anyone else for the night. It would have been nice that they would have put a sign in the window, or at the very least, taking a phone number to advise people calling that they are turning people away for the night at six thirty PM on a Tuesday. IN OTHER WORDS, WE CAN'T TAKE RESERVATIONS, BUT COME ON DOWN AND WE'LL LET YOU KNOW WHETHER WE CAN DO IT.ACCEPT YOUR PARTY OR NOT! bad business never again. It didn't take long to hear the people coming out of there while waiting for the rest of our crowd to arrive, and they're very unhappy. Beware, unless you're local, very local to this place, I would avoid wasting your time.
The food wasn’t amazing, the service and atmosphere with deficiencies, specially price relation, I don’t recommend, I ordered Tacos, and when I ask for the sauce it was separate price, around 4 dollars for a cup of spice, also they tried to get money for every refill, the cashier was pretty good handling it.
By far the worst customer service experience I have ever had at a restaurant. I ordered a full meal to go along with a side of queso fundido. When I asked for more chips to go with the queso, the owner became aggressive and yelled at me. I pointed out that charging extra for chips to accompany a dish like queso fundido didn’t feel right, and when I expressed my frustration in Spanish, he completely lost control. He cussed me out, tried to intimidate me, and even threatened me. No customer should ever be treated this way. I will never return and do not recommend this place to anyone who values respect and decent service.
While it's not often that I travel from out of state to try a restaurant, this was one of the places I had to hit while I was back in town as I completely missed it before I moved to Michigan. The chips and salsa were on point. Queso was awesome! The Birra Tacos were good however it seemed as of most of the meat was in the last taco. The shells were nice and crispy yet soft and flakey*. The consume was also a very good. It's not on the staff that they were busy & I was a single seated individual but after I was brought my meals I wasn't visited afterwards vs. the table across from me having extremely tenantive service. I would have loved to order another drink and some dessert for my mom to-go as she hadn't had sopapillas in many years and I didn't get brought my bill. At least 20 mins went by. I was slightly confused, so I went to the counter to pay for my meal & left a $20 tip on a $14 bill before leaving. I hope whoever helped ring me out took notice of this. While I understand that I was a single individual vs multiple people with a larger bill I still value good food and quality atmosphere. I'll have to give it another shot with friends suppose.
Ive been ordering tacos from here since covid. Stopped in for a take out order because ive been trying to get through on the phone for about 45 mins. Was denied the opportunity to make a take out order and was told to leave and call. I tried to explain that tge lins is busy and I haf been trying. I came all the way here to put in an order because I couldn't get through. They have just lost me as a customer who order food there twice a month at a minimum because it was to crowded and he didnt want to take the time to take my order. Ill get my food from Hacienda from now on.
The service was very slow, and the staff seemed reluctant to attend us. The food arrived cold and in small portions. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. I do not recommend this place.
Worst service of my life. 17 minutes from being seated for a waiter to stop at my table is crazy. Then the host didn’t even give us the correct menus and the owner thinks it’s the customers fault because “I should’ve spoke up that I was ready”….
Worse experience ever. Went to celebrate granddaughters 30th birthday. Waited for drinks 20 minutes and food 45 minutes only asking where are food was. Terrible food. One dish had a hair in it after first bite and couldn't eat it. Chicken was not cooked. Taste awful and only saw waitress twice Complained to her about hair and bad service. Will never to back. She did take a meal off bill but the food was awful.
