Went here on a whim one night and really enjoyed it! The food was great and flavorful with the gnocchi being some of the best I've had. I ordered shrimp cocktail, which ended up a bit messy as the shrimp are marinated - but they were huge and delicious! I also ordered the salmon and creme brulee, both of which were wonderful! Parking was a bit confusing if you're not staying at the hotel. I asked if I was okay to park up front and was told that was fine. Initial service was a bit off-feeling as the host stand had another couple picking up an order. It was over 5 minutes before I was acknowledged (which felt a bit awkward as the place was very slow and the couple and host were silent and not interacting). Pretty minor but strange. Otherwise great experience!
Breakfast was delicious and our server (Michael C.) did an exceptional job with explaining the menu and providing awesome customer service. I gave the atmosphere a 2 only because of issues they were experiencing that contributed to it being extremely cold and we weren't able to eat in. However, everything else was awesome!
My hubby and I came here for lunch and had a fantastic experience! The food was delicious, the view is fabulous! Our only question was why more locals like us don’t know about this gem for off season? We will be back! Jolly was great!
Tides coastal kitchen is an amazing place right on the water of the Delta Marriott in Virginia Beach. We sat there and enjoyed the sounds of the ocean and the beautiful view of sand and sea while delighting in gourmet delicacies and drinks on the patio with the perfect temperature at the end of May!
The food was great. The staff was friendly. The host, Koku, was very accommodating. Even though it was very busy that night, he made sure to give us a table. My only complaint is that it was noisy inside because there was a wedding going on. But it's okay because the food was delicious and the view was nice. Well recommended.
While staying at this hotel I ate here a few times and had wonderful experiences. Specifically my service by waitress, Helen, was exceptional. She was attentive, professional, personable, and really made my meal even more delicious!
Our waitress Sonya was wonderful. Her customer service, kindness, attire and patience were deserving of ten stars. The atmosphere and ambience of the restaurant and hotel was amazing and the view of the beach and ocean from your seat while dining was awe striking. You will not be disappointed.
The best breakfast iv ever had. The omelette was cheesy & crabby, The tomatoes were perfectly seasoned, fruit was juicy and ripe. Amazing
I'm surprised to see such a low rating, as I fully expected 4-5 stars, hands down. The Tides Double Smash Burger is probably one of the best burgers I've had, with so many flavors including the pickles and carmelized onions. The burger patties were large and filling and the to-go container was full of seasoned fries. The restaurant is modern, casual, with a great view of the beach, and very clean. Emily was helpful, quick with our food and bill, and funny - we love her! There were lots of interesting drink mixes on the menu with a large bar for seating, and it definitely gets a rowdy, fun crowd on a Sat night!
We were staying 2 nights at the Delta Hotel on Shore Drive in Virginia Beach. I will leave a separate review for that, but let's just say my expectations for the restaurant wasn't that high. We sat at the bar waiting for our room. Honestly, I was surprised. 2 things stood out. 1) They have a beer system with special glasses that pours from the bottom (I have never seen that anywhere). The glass never gets wet and the local brewery (Commonwealth Wapatooie) pour was picture perfect. 2) the raw oyster service was the best I've had around. The lemon was wrapped (no seeds flying into your oyster), the oysters were really fresh and prefect (small but good oysters), and they provide 2 medicine dropper bottles. The first, blue bottle, was tangy minuette and obviously house made. The second was a house made hot sauce that was a ketchupy, unique and definitely house made. It was impressive and excellent. My wife and I each chose fish, she the Cedar Plank Salmon and I the Glazed Rockfish. I was shocked. Both were 5 star. The salmon was fresh, flaky, and sat on a cedar plank that gave it just a kiss of smoke, and was pared with hand made gnocchi, (no really) HAND MADE GNOCCHI! I've never had gnocchi this good and it warranted the capitalization. The veggie was perfect asparagus. My Glazed Rockfish awesome. It swallowed like buttered crab and sat on a bed of potatoes. But I’m talking some “James Beard” award type of potatoes. You know, the kind they scrape through a series of fine mesh strainers so that they have the best possible texture. I’m a not exaggerating. It was the type of meal where every single bite was that good.
Helen, our server, was wonderful - attentive and friendly - and the food tasted great. When the weather is nice, get an outside table - the view is outstanding!
Paul was Amazing! His conversation and genuine friendly demeanor made the brunch experience 10/10! Also, the food was amazing I have the French toast and crab omelet.
This place is beautiful, the view from the patio is nice. My favorite is the Beer Can Chicken, the portion is huge. Koku is funny, he came to our table and joked around, entertained us. We'll definitely come back here.!
Love the ocean view. Perfect date night spot with nice seating area. Overall impressive menu selections and large portions
Loved the atmosphere…inside a hotel but oceanfront. We ate outside! There was a dj (it was techno) others seemed to enjoy it. Food was delicious! Place was packed!!!
I had an amazing experience at Tides Coastal Kitchen during my first visit to Virginia Beach! Our waitress, Sydney, was fantastic—attentive and genuinely interested in making our meal special. She even worked with the chef to create a delicious fish hoagie based on my chef inspiration. The flavors were incredible, and the coastal views made it even better. I highly recommend Tides Coastal Kitchen, and I can’t wait to return!
Amazing day at Tides. Great food, outstanding service awesome ambiance. Brooklyn and our cabana waiters took great care of our 30+ group as we gather there annually to kick off the Virginia Beach Vocal Jazz Summit
I had an outstanding experience with Kevin, the bartender! He provided excellent food and drink recommendations, all of which were delicious just as he promised. Kevin has such a positive and warm personality, making him the perfect fit for both the holiday season and everyday service. Truly exceptional service!
Great experience! The raw bar was excellent. We had a few amazing cocktails and HUGE triple patty Tiger Wave burger ... portions were great and the service was really good. Our server was very attentive and took good care of us during our meal. We'll be back for sure!
Great place! Happy hour items were delicious! I had several different ones - well worth it. Our server, Helen, was WONDERFUL! She took such good care of our table - thank you!
Helen was great! My husband and I went with my mom and dad for dinner while visiting the hotel. She gave us the royal treatment! She was so friendly and personable. She was well-versed on the menu and made sure we had everything we needed. 🥰
We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the Tides Coastal Kitchen in Virginia Beach. Helen took care of us during our dining experience. She was kind, professional and knowledgeable. I followed her recommendation for my meal and was so happy I did! We look forward to returning and thank Helen for a wonderful dining experience. M & D - November 8, 2025 at 7:32 pm
We loved Helen, she took care of us and was so kind. Full of heart and made great recommendations. Ask for Helen or Isaiah. Get the 2025 Dona Paula Malbec. You won’t regret spending your night in this hotel restaurant.
Our server, Ricardo, was absolutely wonderful! He took such great care of us during our entire meal. We enjoyed the food and the she crab soup was delicious! We enjoyed the beautiful view of the Chesapeake Bay. Thank you, Ricardo, for making our lunch so special! 😃
Helen was wonderful. Despite the restaurant being down a waitperson, she was bright, attentive and warm. Menu not extensive but everything we had was excellent. Geared towards a younger set so the music and the decor are contemporary. excellent value.
Dinner at Tides Coastal Kitchen was exactly what my week needed. At 47, I’ve learned that it’s not just about going out to eat—it’s about creating little moments that feel special, even on an ordinary evening. The restaurant has this laid-back coastal charm that immediately put me at ease. The windows open up to the water, and watching the sun dip low while sipping a glass of Chardonnay was pure therapy. The menu is seafood-forward, but not fussy—fresh oysters, crab cakes, and a salmon that was cooked perfectly, flaky but not dry. My husband ordered the shrimp & grits and we ended up sharing bites back and forth like teenagers. What I appreciated most (besides the food) was the pace. We weren’t rushed, but we also didn’t feel forgotten. The staff let us linger over dessert while we laughed about old stories and just enjoyed being present. If you’re looking for a place that feels warm, coastal, and a little indulgent without being over the top, Tides Coastal Kitchen checks all the boxes. It’s the kind of spot that makes you remember why slowing down for a meal together is so important.
We were waiting on our room to be ready- 5 children in our party! And our server, Isaiah Lewis, was beyond attentive- making sure kiddos were entertained with Shirley temples and appetizers, and a great view of the water! While parents weee able to enjoy a delish cocktail from the bar -
Paul was the best server I’ve ever had. Whatever he’s getting paid double it. He knew the menu inside and out and based off of suggestions correctly guessed the drinks and food we would like. Dude never stopped working. Also great fresh catch sandwich. PS add bacon and cheese. Thank me later
Michael C was our server he did an excellent job! Attended to us but wasn’t hovering. Food was excellent as well.
This is the hotel we stayed in after our wedding in 2023, so it has a special place in our hearts. Most incredible views there are of the bay! Cocktails are always perfect and never been disappointed in any food that we have ordered. We popped in for happy hour this evening and met Michael C. He was incredibly kind and chatted with us about his/our travels. As we went to depart we saw Paul who is another one of our favorites at Tide’s. Looking for a great place to pop in…go now! It gets crazy when the weather warms up!
Mike absolutely knocked it out of the park with that drink. From the very first sip, it was clear this wasn’t something thrown together—it was crafted. The balance was flawless: bold without being overpowering, smooth without being dull, and layered with just the right amount of complexity to keep every sip interesting. If there were ever a signature drink worth coming back for again and again, this would be it. Mike didn’t just make a drink—he created an experience. 🍹
I just want to say thank you to the wonderful people at Tides Coastal Kitchen who were there working on Thanksgiving. My mother has always prepared Thanksgiving dinner for the whole family, but her Parkinson's disease is now making it very difficult for her to continue that tradition. This year we booked Thanksgiving dinner at Tides Coastal Kitchen, and we were so glad we did. The food was excellent, even tasted like home cooking! The staff was wonderful, especially the ladies at the front helping everyone find their tables. I really appreciate that Tides Coastal Kitchen offered a Thanksgiving dinner so that our family could enjoy the holiday together without my mom feeling the pressure to cook for everyone. It was very special for us. Thank you!
Paul and Mike were phenomenal in making my stay memorable. I was interested in the wine selection and they provided me with an Amazing amount of backstory, notes, and references for each one. I will never forget my stay at the delta. Thank you
Everything from the moment we arrived to the moment we left was amazing. The host KOKO was fantastic, very pleasant and checked on us as much as the waiter. Grey always made sure our drinks were full and made our evening very enjoyable. Food was very good, I would recommend this place to anyone. The bartender made drinks perfectly and the cook did his thing. 6 stars
Met up with old friends at the Tides Coastal Kitchen. We had a great meal and they were very accommodating to our group of 8. Very nice happy hour menu. Michael C. provided fantastic service and was very attentive. We will definitely return.
The food was delicious! The calamari was so good and the happy hour options are great, total bang for your buck!!! We had Michael as our waiter and he was so friendly, funny and made sure we were taken care of throughout the whole dinner. We will be coming back whenever we visit in Virginia Beach again🥰
Helen and Isiah are the greatest energy and vibe! We had such a light hearted and fun night because they were just good people to talk to. Their food recommendations were both honest and so glad we followed! The only thing we ordered that was OK was something that they didn’t recommend! So now we KNOW they were being honest. Thank you for a great night!
Delicious upscale seafood restaurant with ocean view. Located inside of a beautiful hotel. It's winter so it's a bit slow and quiet today. Fish and chips were delicious and now I'm waiting on them to bring out key lime pie. I'm excited. It's been a fantastic meal for my husband and I.
Today was our first time dining at the Tides Coastal Kitchen in VA Beach and it did not disappoint. The food was wonderful! Helen took care of us! She was extremely helpful with her recommendations for our first visit. She was kind, professional, and patient as well. We will definitely be returning and asking for Helen to assist us again. Thank you for a wonderful experience. Mark and Denise - November 2025
A former co-worker mentioned this place on Facebook, and soon after I saw an ad for their Galentine’s week celebration. My work bestie and I decided to make it our monthly girls’ night out. I hadn’t realized the restaurant was located in the Delta Marriott, and I instantly fell for its decor and ambiance. Despite being a weeknight so close to Valentine’s Day, the spot wasn’t as busy as I expected, which gave us plenty of time to catch up. We sampled a special Galentine’s menu, starting with a tasty spinach and artichoke dip paired with a “Kiss from a Rose” cocktail. For dinner, I ordered the shrimp scampi—which left me craving more—while my friend thoroughly enjoyed her salmon dish. We wrapped up the meal with a large slice of decadent chocolate cake and a dessert wine. Our waiter was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. I’d definitely return for the inviting atmosphere—and more scampi.
I literally just had the Chesapeake omelet..*chef's kiss!! This is amazing for brunch . Definitely 4.5 if they had toast it would be 5 out of 5 but overall, absolutely satisfied, satisfying and simply savory goodness! Absolutely recommend.
We really enjoyed having dinner on the deck on this beautiful evening. It was a special treat to be able to see the wedding ceremony being held on the beach. The views of the Chesapeake Bay are exceptional, and the skies turned a gorgeous red at sunset. Our crab cake dinner was good and our waitress Helen was very personable and fun to talk with. She made sure that we had everything we needed, didn’t make a pest of herself but was there when we needed her.
5-Star atmosphere, but everything else is kind of a wash! We had to wait 10 to 15 minutes despite having a reservation, and there were plenty of open tables. As you can tell from recent reviews, service is slow and disorganized. Everyone is super friendly, but you would see “your waiter” maybe 2 times and then someone new, and then a different person, etc.. We had to ask for silverware after our food was delivered to the table. The sunset was incredible, and the food presentation was good. Drink presentation was poor and the menu is pretty small and lacking.
My friends and I were so excited to go to the Beetlejuice popup bar at Tide’s Coastal Kitchen this year! We even all got dressed up in theme with the movie! The popup seemed to be some posters and cobwebs. In addition there were 2 themed drinks on their cocktail menu. We were disappointed because we didn’t think the decorations warranted the language, “popup bar”. However, we did go to happy hour and the food was fairly priced. I think I’d be disappointed if I paid full price for the same food. Overall, The views were gorgeous and the wait staff was super nice! This review is mainly based on the popup that was advertised on social media platforms. Not on the staff.
My husband and I came here on Valentine's day this past Saturday for their 3 course meal. My husband's caesar salad only had lettuce and croutons, no parmesean like the menu stated. Our main courses were good, he had a ribeye and I had a tuna steak. His potatoes au gratin were cold and my risotto wasn't very warm either. The desserts were nothing special at all. The worst part about this was for a table of TWO, we were charged a $32 service charge. I have never in my life heard of a restaurant charging a service charge for a party of two. It is common for parties of 6 or more to be charged a service charge at many restaurants. So, with tax and the service charge, it was an extra 51 dollars. It just blows my mind that we had a mediocre overall meal and we paid close to 250 dollars with tip for TWO PEOPLE. We left our Valentine's day date in shock and disappointment. We wont be returning here when there are so many better places to eat and spend our money. Our waiter was very nice and attentive and we thank him for his service!
I wanted to like this place because of the recent reno, everything looked nice etc. Also heard good reviews online.. But it was honestly terrible. Food was not great, the drinks were much worse.. probably the worst drinks I've had at a restaurant. Even had the orange crush remade, and still was bad. We sat outside and the lights were constantly dimming then brightening randomly was very odd. Host was nice and so was the waiter but he struggled a bit knowing the menu or what I was asking for, host said he was training but no one even came to check on him or my party. Was here 19aug
The food was pretty good- Chesapeake omelet had a great flavor and good amount of crabmeat. Prices were high but not terrible considering the portions. There was confusion about the menus because the menus listed online for brunch do not match the menus provided on site. There were menu items we were interested in from the brunch website menu that we couldn’t order during Sunday brunch hours. Our server, Gray was great! He managed our large party well and was very attentive and kind. He handled the party of 11 alone, no staff helped him out at all. I asked for a few drink menus at the front and the manager was pretty terse and rude about it. Now for the atmosphere… there were flies everywhere outside. They had table fans to keep the flies away but some of them weren’t working. We were sat outside by the pool area so guests walked back and forth throughout the meal shouting and lugging their pool gear. There was also an unprecedented amount of dragonflies, like hundreds of them. They didn’t come on to the porch but it was a huge amount of dragonflies. The inside zone was freezing, but if I had to return, I would suggest sitting inside.
My family and I had brunch here. I chose the location for the location/views and had hopes for an enjoyable dining experience. The service was not great. There were 5 or 6 waitstaff to 5 tables and I had to wave my server down for beverages and to get the check. She was not rude or anything, she just wasn't attentive. The food was bland and disappointing. As a VB local I think this restaurant relies on the hotel visitors and doesn't expect return customers.
Went for valentines dinner. The service was one of the worst I have seen in a while. Meal items were completely forgotten and we were completely forgotten about; waiting for 45 minutes after our meal. We asked the front desk for our check and waited another 15 minutes. It was a long wait for EXTREMELY overpriced mid tear food. Imagine paying twice as much as this place looks. Plus there is a 20% automatic tip fee. I usually tip eating out knowing that the service industry is difficult. But they even took away my freedom of speech. 1/10 do not recommend.
We made a reservation for six to celebrate my twins’ 25th birthday and had a very disappointing experience. We waited over 20 minutes just to be greeted at the hostess stand, and the hostess was flippant and rude. Our server was scattered and inattentive—no water refills, no additional drink offers, dishes not cleared, and very little table attention throughout the meal. I had arranged in advance to bring a birthday cake and agreed to the serving fee. However, the manager brought the cake out before clearing the dirty plates, still in the box, and set it on a table next to us because there was no space. No utensils, no plates, and no knife were provided, so I had to cut and serve the cake myself using an extra to-go box on the table. My daughter even had to grab napkins from the bar just so we could serve it. Shockingly, our server whispered in my ear asking if he could have a piece of the cake before he had assisted with anything. Despite providing no actual cake service, we were charged the full $30 serving fee on top of the automatic 20% gratuity. Overall, this birthday dinner felt unorganized, inattentive, and not worth the cost. Very disappointing for what should have been a special celebration. The food itself was good, but certainly not great—nothing that justified the level of stress and disorganization we experienced. It’s clear that the core issue is management, and that lack of leadership has created a culture of poor service from the moment you walk in the door. With better management, this restaurant could easily be much better, but as it stands now, the overall experience simply does not match the price or the expectations for a planned celebration.
