Five stars isn’t enough for the experience we had at Steinhilber’s. From the moment we sat down, our server Jasheen delivered the kind of service that turns a dinner into a memory. Attentive without hovering, warm without being overbearing, and genuinely passionate about the menu. Every recommendation landed perfectly. We started with the fried shrimp and they were absolute perfection. Golden, crisp, and impossibly fresh with that satisfying coastal crunch that makes you slow down and savor every bite. The wedge salad was a standout on its own, beautifully chilled, crisp lettuce, rich dressing, and all the right toppings in perfect balance. Simple done flawlessly. Then came the short ribs. Tender enough to fall apart with a fork, rich and deeply flavored, and cooked with the kind of care that makes you close your eyes for a second just to take it in. Every bite felt like comfort and craftsmanship on the same plate. Jasheen made the entire evening feel effortless and special, checking in at just the right moments and making sure everything was exactly how it should be. Service like that is rare and unforgettable. We’ll absolutely be back. If you go, ask for Jasheen and thank me later.

We had reservations at 7:30 and arrived about 20 minutes early. They still seated us promptly. We had to remind the hostess that we requested the patio but that was no problem. The patio was beautifully lit. Our table had a fire pit in the middle so even tho I was in a dress, I was still warm. It took a while for our drink orders to be taken but our waiter had a large and talkative party close to our table. I believe it was the manager that stayed outside on the patio. Checking on tables, helping when needed. She even took a picture for a cute couple, which I thought was sweet. I ordered sangria which was tasty, my boyfriend had a coffee and said it was the best coffee he has ever had. We are going to inquire about purchasing some, if possible. The place is rustic and still has an old time feel. I really appreciated how the staff was dressed very professional. The vibe is very classy but not snobby. There were people in flannels to very nice evening gowns. We didn't get the impression that anyone was judgy. The crab cake was phenomenal. No filing. Get the Steiny sauce with it! The twice baked potato was also full of flavor. My boyfriend had the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection. It melted in your mouth and the flavor was on point. We had the scallop casino for an appetizer and he had the she crab soup. The soup was full of meat and thick. It was good. The sauce complimented the seafood perfectly for the casino. The prices are higher than many places but you definitely pay for the quality and experience here. It is obvious through the presentation and flavor that things are cooked to order, fresh and not frozen. The atmosphere, staff and food made our date night one to remember. The only thing I would change is to have more than one bathroom on the first floor. It was very clean though. We'd like to go back during the day so we can enjoy the view of the water. Highly recommend.

An Unforgettable Dinner at Steinhilber’s – Exceptional from Start to Finish My husband and I recently dined at Steinhilber’s Restaurant, and from the first sip of our cocktails to the last bite of dessert, everything about our evening was absolutely wonderful. The setting is timeless and elegant, nestled in a quiet, scenic spot that makes you feel like you’ve discovered a well-kept secret. It’s the kind of place that makes an ordinary night feel like a special occasion. We started with drinks – I had a pomegranate martini that was both vibrant and perfectly balanced, and my husband enjoyed a refreshing pineapple Moscow mule that had just the right kick. For dinner, I chose the fried red snapper served with mashed potatoes and broccolini, and I can honestly say it was one of the best seafood dishes I’ve had in a long time. The fish was delicately crisp on the outside, flaky and tender on the inside, and the sides complemented it beautifully. My husband ordered a steak cooked medium rare with roasted potatoes and sautéed spinach, and it was flawless – juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection. We finished the meal with dessert – a warm, comforting apple pie that felt like fall in every bite. I also took home the chocolate lava cake, which didn’t last long once we got home! It was rich, gooey, and totally worth the indulgence. The service throughout the evening was attentive and friendly, and the pacing of the meal allowed us to really enjoy each course without ever feeling rushed. Steinhilber’s is more than just a restaurant – it’s an experience, and one we’ll be happily returning to. Whether you’re celebrating something special or just want an unforgettable meal, this place delivers. Five stars, without question. 😊Will be back for my birthday in a few weeks 😁

Everything about this restaurant is amazing. The service is top-tier and the food is so scrumptious. I’m really picky about paella and this may be the best paella I’ve had in the United States. The grilled octopus was delicious too! The restaurant is nestled in the most beautiful area surrounded by greenery. Just a very beautiful experience. We will be back!

Dinner at Steinhilbers tonight was nothing short of perfect. I went with two of my high school girlfriends, which made the evening even more special. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable—attentive, gracious, and truly fine dining at its best. The food? Outstanding, as always. We all enjoyed their famous fried fantail shrimp, and it reminded me exactly why Steinhilbers remains one of my all-time favorite restaurants. Perfectly cooked, flavorful, and classic in the best way. There’s something timeless about Steinhilbers—the atmosphere, the consistency, the attention to detail. It’s a place where memories are made and revisited, whether you’re celebrating something big or simply enjoying a beautiful evening with dear friends. One of the finest dining experiences. Always a treat, always exceptional. ❤️

We are relatively new to the area and went here for my husbands birthday dinner. By far the best restaurant we have ate at here so far! Both of the dishes we ordered exceeded our expectations, and the carrot cake for dessert was delicious!

Immaculate… I had to start off the review with that one word primarily. From we parked the entire experience was amazing. Me and my wife just got married and this place was a recommendation to us and the pictures do not do it justice. The ambience, the waiter, the waitresses and the views over the pool just made the day that much more special. The food made this one of the greatest restaurants I ever been to and the flavoring took us home. I want to give a loud shout out to the Chef. The wine choice paired with the food was perfect and I would gladly go back and recommend any and everyone to visit this place and this takes us back to the first word used… amazing and immaculate…

Food was delicious & customer service is great!! My husband had the fried soft shell crab for an appetizer & the whole fried snapper as an entree. I had the lamb lollipop as an appetizer & the chicken picatta with pasta for my entree. Absolutely delicious!! The plating for my appetizer was beautiful. The ambiance is warm, welcoming, and calm. Luke, our waiter was an absolute professional, kind, very attentive & greeted us with a warm smile. We look forward to our next visit.

This place was dreamy, peaceful, and authentic! The atmosphere was wonderful and sitting with a water and garden view made the experience even better. Our service was excellent. The staff truly cares about its guests and the food. The shrimp and oysters were magnificent and the desserts were impeccable! Luke was phenomenal!!! Super sweet and very knowledgable! I definitely appreciated his recommendations as a first timer and 100% everything was delicious! I loved everything about this place! Everyone was very accommodating to our needs and very sweet! Had a seat outside next to the fire pits and 10/10! The chef was amazing tonight! The Rockefeller and the fried octopus were so delicious and the Crème brulee was devine!!! Had to give my compliments to the chef! The manager came out to check on us, which was super sweet!!! The lobster thermidor was on point!!! Definitely a keeper! Best birthday dinner ever!!! Thank steinhilber's for making this night amazing and magical!!! The service is immaculate and the scenery is to die for. The drinks were a bit too strong for my likings but still very tasty. I love coming here. We came for our anniversary and they put candles in our desserts to celebrate. I highly recommend eating outside as it is so beautiful

Food is so delicious! I love the Short Rib risotto. The outdoor ambiance is incredible. Eating by the fireplace with a chill in the air is so cozy. I highly recommended. It was 57 degrees out and I still felt very warm.

Service was outstanding. The food was really good. My only complaint is that the beef Wellington was almost well done instead of the medium rare that it should have been. Movement around the restaurant is very difficult because of how crowded the seating is and it gets to be overwhelmingly loud. The jumbo shrimp are well worth the price. As is all the food I had. The steak sauce was not needed for the Wellington but was too good not to eat. This is NOT a place to bring young children!

I’ve been to this restaurant twice and the service this evening was plenty enough to warrant a review. I appreciated the personalized service and attentive wait staff. Larry and Douglas were friendly, professional and paid meticulous attention to detail from the moment we sat down till the moment we left. They were incredibly kind, answered all our questions, removed plates, brought items out quickly and were courteous with each of our requests. The awareness each understood about the dynamic of our group was spot on. Kudos to you both and thank you. We tried plenty of dishes and left full and satisfied. The jumbo shrimp were lightly fried and the aioli that accompanied was nicely paired. I had the rib eye and as did others in my company. Cooked as requested. The steak also came with a wonderful homemade steak sauce, though not needed, was a nice accompaniment. The scallop casino had a rich cream sauce and plenty of crab meat, shrimp and bay scallops as well. I quite appreciated the one Pinot Nior by the glass the restaurant offered. A colleague shared a bite of their short ribs with mushroom truffle risotto which also was a star at the table. The bar desserts were also a hit. The atmosphere is simple. The picture window on the back wall provides a nice view of the water from any table. Quiet and dimly lit, it gives the feeling of seclusion even when the room is full.

Our third Christmas Eve dinner here that has become our most cherished tradition, filling our hearts with joy! Always a great experience! All the food was sublime and the service was truly exceptional. Staff were polite, helpful, and attentive, making our evening unforgettable. We savored their famous shrimp dinner and finished with the heavenly key lime pie. We will definitely return, eager to continue our beloved dinner tradition!

We had a wonderful dinner here! Ordered the paella, fried whole snapper, creamed spinach, fantail shrimp, a glass of cava and a cranberry aperol spritz- everything was delicious. The quality of the shrimp was superb (we are shrimp connoisseurs 😎)! My only qualm was that the paella was a tad bland and the baby mussles were under the broiler a bit too long- so they were dried out and crunchy. The service was excellent 👌🏽 we would definitely come back!

This is such an amazing place to experience. They have beautiful indoor and outdoor lake front scenic views and incredible dishes. Their cocktails were also very good and the service was beyond amazing. The whole experience was outstanding. I had the lobster ravioli, peach mojito and crème brûlée for dessert while enjoying their beautiful flower decorated patio.

My husband and I came here for our 1 year wedding anniversary and it was the best experience! All the food we ordered was delicious and the service was exceptional. This is a beautiful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere, good service, and excellent food. I had the vegetarian dish which was a stuffed pepper, generous cheese (optional), with roasted potatoes, and baby brussel sprouts. So delicious and this was large serving too. I enjoyed an old fashioed. They have large selection of cocktails, wines, and beer available.

This is one of my most favorite place of all and been here only 1 time. The service was phenomenal! Larry C. was exceptional! I have never had service this great! We came to celebrate an anniversary and it did not disappoint! Will definitely be back here again. The food and appetizers were great as well for a reasonable price! The paella is a must have!

We lived in the Hampton Roads area from 1981-2008, and dined at Steinhilber’s many times over the course of those years. We even celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary there with family and friends in 2004. We remember the founder, Robert Steinhilber, greeting us at the door when we would arrive and making sure that everything was good when we left. We have recently moved back to Virginia and were visiting our daughter in Virginia Beach, and were pleasantly surprised to find that the service and the food at Steinhilber’s continue to be excellent. We dined there on a recent Saturday evening. The weather was nice so we decided to eat in their outside dining area (new since we had last been there years ago). The tables are nicely spread out and the ambiance is wonderful with candles on the tables and lights strung around. We started our meal with drinks and appetizers. I ordered the mule of the day as my cocktail, but asked to have Sprite substituted for the ginger beer and my husband ordered the old fashioned. Both drinks arrived quickly and were very good. We opted to split three of the appetizers—the she-crab soup, the crispy octopus and the lamb lollipops. We remembered the she-crab soup from our visits long ago, and it did not disappoint. It was full of crab, and served with a dash of sherry—just like we remembered. We don’t often see octopus on menus in the US, so it was a nice surprise. The octopus was delicious—cooked to perfection! The lamb lollipops were also a unique offering. They were ground lamb, encrusted with pistachio and panko crumbs and fried. They were equally yummy! We chose to split one entrée, and chose the daily catch, which was halibut. It was flaky, tender, moist, and delicious—definitely fresh, and was served with a spinach and vegetable rice. We were too full for dessert, but we chose to get a piece of Jeanne’s chocolate delight to go and enjoyed it later that evening. Service was friendly, courteous, knowledgeable, attentive and efficient, while allowing us time to enjoy our meal and each other’s company. Steinhilber’s continues to be an excellent choice for fine dining in Virginia Beach! If you are ever in the area, do not hesitate to book a table (definitely recommended as they are busy). You will not be disappointed. My only regret is that they do not have the seafood au gratin on the menu anymore.

Went for 80th birthday special occasion. Have been going to this wonderful restaurant for over 65 years. Impeccable service, excellent well trained wait staff throughout. Lovely ambiance and delicious well prepared food. The shrimp was as good as ever, and the rib eye and accompanying vegetables were prepared to perfection. What a wonderful evening! Our waiter, Larry, was knowledgeable, had a terrific personality and smile - made us feel special and happy. The manager came by to check on us and couldn’t have been more welcoming and appreciative of our dining with them. Looking forward to returning soon and also when the weather once again allows to be seated outside on the patio with the gorgeous view of the water.

Where do I begin. I’ve been planning my wife’s birthday for weeks, wanting everything to be absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, I wasn’t told that a reservation was required, so I never made one. I didn’t even realize the issue until the day of the celebration, when the cake decorator I hired arrived with my wife's cake and informed me that there was no reservation on file. That’s where this place truly showed its class. Despite never reserving, the managers on staff were nothing short of phenomenal. With grace, professionalism, and genuine care, they moved a few things around and still accommodated my party of 10 at the very last minute. No attitude. No stress. Just solutions. That alone speaks volumes. From there, everything exceeded expectations. The food was absolutely amazing. Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was top tier. Attentive, warm, and never rushed. And the atmosphere. Perfect. Elegant yet comfortable, celebratory without being overwhelming. Exactly what you want for a milestone birthday. They didn’t just save the night. They elevated it. My wife felt celebrated, our guests were impressed, and the entire experience felt intentional and special. If you’re looking for a place that combines exceptional management, outstanding food, great service, and an atmosphere that makes moments feel memorable, this is it. We’ll absolutely be back, and I’ll be recommending this restaurant to everyone I know.

This restaurant is amazing. I finally visited for the first time recently and sat outside on their beautiful patio. The ambience was so peaceful and worth the visit alone. The food was fantastic. The drinks, bread, and main course were perfect. I ordered the shrimp which was worth the hype. The others in my party enjoyed their filet mignon as well. The service was so classy and top tier, something you don't find many places. We felt like royalty. I do not usually like fine dining, but this was a worthwhile experience. I will definitely be back.

Very good food! The service was impeccable, very nice atmosphere, even though busy, you could easily communicate comfortably, which I really liked. No complaints on the food. We had the appetizers of shrimp and oysters Rockefeller, really good. My husband and I shred their special, 25 oz Cowboy Steak with red potatoes & squash and asparagus. Delicious. Finished the evening with the Carrot cake. Highly recommend. Lovely for a date night or to take the family for a nice dinner.

Still the best restaurant in Tidewater! My husband wanted a steak and pointed out that they had short ribs with mushroom risotto so we decided to give it a try. Wow was it a wonderful meal! The food was perfect and the service was excellent. Very fancy but laid back and friendly at the same time. It’s my new favorite special occasion restaurant! Can’t wait till my birthday 😁😁

Valentine’s Day can be busy and hectic, but Larry made us feel like we were his only table. The food was exceptional as always, but the service elevated the entire experience. If you’re dining here, ask for Larry — he’s a true professional and made our celebration absolutely perfect. We’ll definitely be back! ❤️

Had a last minute change in plans, so found myself looking for a place for dinner for five of us on Valentines Day. Showed up at Steinhilbers at about 4:45 to see if they had any sort of wait list or chance to get seated. Hostess told us the were booked for the evening. No problem - kind of expected since it’s Valentines. As we’re walking back to our car, the General Manager chased us down and offered for us to sit at one of the outdoor fire tables. Even mentioned they had blankets if it was too cold. We decided to go for it. Had a great time - fire table was warm and provided a good atmosphere. Food was absolutely excellent, service was great. Shout out to the manager for going above and beyond for some walk in customers on what’s probably one of their busiest nights of the year!

The service at Steinhilbers is consistent, professional and perfect. I hosted a private event for 40 in their Garden Room.. actually I’ve hosted 5+ over the last couple years and I keep coming back because the food is 10/10 and the service team is 12 out of 10. It’s hard to go anywhere else when they are so consistently excellent. Highly recommend for private events.

Service definitely great. A waitress opened main entrance and led me to the hostess desk. They immediately confirmed my reservation and read that I had requested for a window seat, which I got. The server was very friendly, immediately asked if I’ve tried their popular shrimp dish whether as appetizer or entree. They had tiny dehydrated toast like the primo ones available in Asian stores. They also served bread although not soft/pillowy warm. It was dry and semi hard. Would have been better not serving bread and serve amuse bouche of their popular shrimps, just a suggestion! I ordered the octopus and fillet mignon with side of broccolini. The octopus was crispy on the outside but very tender on the inside. The octopus tentacle was a decent portion, loved it. The filet mignon came as I ordered: medium well with slight pink. Their house made steak sauce is good, pairs wonderfully with the steak. The broccolini was slightly overcooked, not as crispy to the bite as I had hoped.

Went here for my birthday yesterday and had a wonderful experience. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. My only minor complaint was that the seating felt a bit tight, as tables were very close together. Overall, it was still a great place to celebrate.

Asked a local where to go for dinner and they said without hesitation Steinhilber’s. Said its off the beaten oath, and the end of the road after driving through a housing neighborhood. It’s like eating at someone’s house. They recommended getting a table in the Garden Room since it has windows on 3 sides and has good views. (Also said the fireplace room is also nice but better when it’s cooler out to enjoy the fire). Got a reservation for 2 in the Garden Room. Sure enough, drove through a neighborhood and at the end of the street was the restaurant. Told the hostess we had a reservation and gave her our name. We were escorted to a room and seated. It was extremely crowded. Not in the number of people (there were empty tables) but in how the tables were positioned and guests seated. Tables of 4 were turned on edge and lined up in a single file. There was no way to even pull my chair out without hitting the lady at the table next to ours. We could have easily=y reached across and grabbed anything on their table from ours. Way too crowded. Then I looked around. There weren’t 3 sides of windows, there was a big fireplace. We were seated in the wrong room. Hmmmm. Asked someone if this was the Garden Room and was told no it wasnt. Explained that we made a reservation for the Garden Room. She took us to the garden room where the tables were nicely spaced and lone a behold the only vacant table was a table for 2….OUR TABLE!!!!! Once seated we waited and waited. We had menus from being seated in the other room but no water, no waitress. Waited longer. She finally came by. Brought us water and then things went more smoothly. Known for their fried shrimp with signature sauce I ordered that. My husband got the daily catch which was halibut pan seared and served with spinach vegetable sauce and wild rice. Bread is available with your meal but you must ask for it. The food was very good. The twice baked potato that accompanied the shrimp was delicious. The restaurant serves homemade desserts. Many were tempting. Had the Old Fashioned Apple Pie with vanilla ice cream. It came as a small individual apple pie. Perfect for 2 to share. warm. Flakey crust dusted with sugar and cinnamon and juicy apples inside. Yum.

Kudos to any restaurant that can achieve 86 years of success! Some of the menu deserves more than 5 stars, including the oysters appetizer and halibut entree. Wow! Amazing! Among the best, if not the best, dishes ever enjoyed. So good, in fact, that the shrimp cocktail and crab cake paled in comparison. Compliments to the pastry chef for the key lime pie. Yum. However, the small, individually sized pies were lacking given the disproportional amount of crust to filling. The view of the water and gardens is stunning, and the inside is an elevated Bavarian bier hall (well suited for fine dining.) How wonderful for a beach restaurant to put its servers in formal attire and treat their guests with such professionalism!! Looking forward to dining here again!

I ordered the Seafood Pacchari, Fan-tail fried shrimp, Rockefeller oysters, she-crab soup, and a cranberry mocktail. Everything tasted really good except for the Seafood Pacchari…some of the seafood was a bit rubbery. The pasta itself tasted okay, but I don’t think I’ll be ordering it again. I wasn’t able to finish it and had to request a to-go box. Our server, Jamo, was friendly and nice. The place is clean and well-kept, including the bathroom. However, it may not be ideal for families with babies since there are no changing tables in the restroom. They offer complimentary valet, which is a plus, and the valet parker was nice and friendly. Overall, I’d still come back to try more items on the menu.

Wonderful elegant yet casual vibe; terrific service. Gorgeous location. After 2 visits this year, I recommend drinks, she crab soup, and dessert. She crab, as in photos with other reviews, looks like lobster bisque in color but the large row of crab meat down the center is the best. Nice flavor. And splash of sherry is a nice touch . Crab in every spoonful. My mint julep was outstanding in a frosty metal mug. Warm individual pecan pie comes with ice cream $14, and no option to order without ice cream. It was good, but too much pastry for my taste. I'd rather have a slice from a full sized pie. Both visits the entrees were disappointing. The first was a a wedding reception so I excused it for the large group challenges. The second was their trademark butterflied fried shrimp with a twice baked potato. Shrimp were more beige than golden brown and bland. They were cooked throughout, but not at all appealing on the plate. Preparation of meals for our party of 5 was lengthy, so I didn't want to send it back. We were having great conversations and I didn't mind the wait, but I was ready to eat by then. Gave some shrimp to others at the table and took the rest home. Twice baked potato I stopped eating halfway though because it was too dry. The top had some color to it but no flavor. At home, I scooped out the potato and added hot milk, butter, salt pepper, chives. Much better to have creamy potatoes. .Air fried the shrimp til they were golden and enjoyed it. Added old bay seasoning. The shrimp didn't taste like local or NC shrimp. Asked the server and he said maybe from the Northeast . ??? Across the table a companion said the halibut was ok but nothing special. Before and after photos attached. Potatoes in a bowl are at home with golden brown shrimp and old bay seasoning. . The complimentary bread was sort of a dry toast square. Even the butter couldn't help it. So I vote to enjoy the marvelous surroundings, have a great drink and an appetizer or soup and maybe dessert! It's a beautiful place. Terrific staff..

Great outdoor atmosphere! Luv'd the firepit experience. Delicious homemade vinegarette salad dressing (took my house salad to go)! Red skin potatoes were yummy! Larry was an excellent waiter (unfortunately his assistant was forgetful / overwhelmed and the reason I couldn't give 5 stars for service). Also, I didn't give staff an opportunity to fix cooled broccolini or wilted greens. No one can control tired, crying children at other tables. I will return. This was my first experience and will always choose outdoor dining.

I wasn’t the biggest fan of this place’s food. I will say, from start to finish, the service was great. The valet opened the door for us and the staff was very welcoming. They were very informative about the menu and checked on us multiple times to refill our water and make sure we had everything we needed. The food itself was beautifully presented and very fancy-looking, but the taste just wasn’t there for me. I ordered the seafood pasta, which I get often at other restaurants. The waitress did mention it was a fish-based sauce, but it ended up being super fishy. Some people may enjoy that, but it wasn’t for me. The lamb lollipops also had very little flavor, though the sauce on the side was pretty good. The restaurant itself was very nice and intimate. I will say the scallop casino was actually delicious, but the portion size was very small for the price. Overall, some people may love this place, but it’s just not for me. It feels like one of those spots that’s expensive and fancy but doesn’t match the price when it comes to taste

The service was great and the cocktails were delicious! The kids pasta was cook to perfection as well! I picked the restaurant because I was craving for paella. My seafood paella was good, but it didn’t meet my expectations. I miss the authentic “SPAN” traditional paella, cooking on the paella pan! The paella here was good, but there’s spices missing there. However, the Wellington beef with the half lobster dish wasn’t worth of its price. I felt the Wellington beef was manufactured due to the pastry look, and cracking the shell of the half lobster was too much for my husband. For all the reasons, he didn’t like his dish. The restaurant has a beautiful lawns and close to the water! Therefore, I had a good time there.

Went here for Valentine’s Day after seeing all the great reviews and researching the beautiful history of this place .I reserved months ahead of time and was very excited to check this out and was a bit disappointed honestly . The service was great very attentive as you walked in you were greeted with smiles and seated right away. The drinks were well made and the ambiance nice. However , we waited almost 40 min for our appetizer the fried octopus that came out pretty cold and tasted old I had one bite and honestly that all I could eat we then waited about another 30-40 min for our food that came out and was quite disappointing.. I ordered the chicken piccata and it was very tough and no flavor my husband ordered the fried seafood platter that came out very salty with small bits from bottom of fry basket in it. I get it was busy unfortunately I don’t think I would come back here .

Steinhilber’s is tucked away at the back of a neighborhood on the Lynnhaven Inlet. The setting is charming, and the restaurant looks like a converted historic home, which gave us high hopes for a special evening. We had a 6 p.m. reservation for a birthday celebration. When we arrived, it was lightly raining and getting dark. The gravel parking lot had several uneven spots and potholes, which was a bit surprising for a place that appears to offer upscale dining. Inside, the host was kind and made note of our celebration, seating us by the window, which we appreciated. The dining area is quaint but very compact, and there’s only one small bathroom that could use a refresh. Our server was friendly and professional, though the pacing of the meal was quite slow. We arrived at six and didn’t finish until around nine. The lamb lollipop appetizer was beautifully presented with a flavorful dipping sauce, small cheese balls, and sweet peppers. The texture of the lamb was a bit unexpected, but it was tasty overall. For entrées, we shared because the portions are large, but we were surprised that sides were not included. My daughter ordered the Beef Wellington, which was very hot but not her favorite. I had the filet, which was tender and well-seasoned but arrived only lukewarm and with minimal presentation. The pear martini was excellent, and although my wine order got mixed up, our waiter was clearly handling multiple large tables and did his best. Overall, Steinhilber’s has potential with its waterfront charm and history, but the experience didn’t quite live up to the expectation. The service was kind, but between the parking, the pacing, and the presentation, it fell short of what we hoped for.
