At Austin's On The Avenue in Waco, the atmosphere is nothing short of electric. This venue truly captures the essence of fun with its expansive space that welcomes not just fans of live music but also those looking for a spot where trucks, basketball, and even dogs are part of the vibrant scene. The staff's friendly demeanor makes everyone feel like a regular, ensuring a warm, welcoming environment that's hard to find elsewhere. What sets Austin's apart is its unique ability to blend a diverse array of interests into one cohesive experience. Whether you're here to enjoy the live music, watch a basketball game, or simply relax with your dog by your side, there's something for everyone. The food trucks stationed nearby offer a tantalizing selection of eats, making it a perfect spot to spend your evenings, especially on Fridays and Saturdays when the place truly comes to life. Another noteworthy aspect is the convenience offered by accepting both credit cards and checks, making transactions seamless and hassle-free. This commitment to customer comfort, coupled with the lively fun atmosphere, makes Austin's On The Avenue a must-visit destination on the east side of I-35. A fascinating tidbit about this locale is its role as a communal hub in Waco, where connections are made, and memories are forged. It's more than just a bar; it's a place where the heart of the city beats the strongest, inviting one and all to partake in the joyous celebration of community and camaraderie.
Interesting venue! We came on a cold, rainy Saturday afternoon - it’s probably more enjoyable in warmer weather. It’s a younger crowd of college kids. Quick and friendly service. Good selection of beers on tap. Try the peanut butter tequila shot - it’s surprisingly tasty!
Went here with my boyfriend. We wanted to go on a nice little date night but I had no idea where to go so I was like let's go to freight bar. We were just at pretty fancy. I was in a really nice fancy old-timey red dress and my boyfriend was dressed up and a button-up and a tie and freight bar is not a place. You would think to go in that attire but we still went anyway. I was a little bit bummed because they weren't doing any activities the day we went but then we started playing cool which was really fun. Even though I'm not very good at pool I still won because my boyfriend kept getting the eight ball in (silly goose) then they had a soccer version of pool which was very difficult and we didn't like it that much. We just played soccer within the giant soccer pool table. It was actually one of the best dates nights I've had with him and the drinks were really good. I got two Shirley temples (non-alcoholic) and my boyfriend got water. I would recommend this place for families. Looking to have a good night. They also do cracks here sometimes which is always super fun.
I'm very excited to have this place pop up. Excellent craft beer selection, outdoor games, super dog friendly, large beautiful outdoor area, lots of sports TVs, a couple delicious food trucks parked inside the gate. This place has the potential to push Balcones for my favorite spot in Waco. We visited on a cold Monday night for a dog training class. They were very friendly and accommodating to our 10 or so dogs. Can't wait to come back.
I recently visited Freight Bar in Waco for the first time and was absolutely blown away by the experience. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm smiles and an electrifying atmosphere that promised a memorable night—and it did not disappoint! A special shoutout to Darren, Zack, and Ethan, who were phenomenal. Darren’s attention to every little detail made the ambiance even more inviting. Zack, with his impressive knowledge, guided me through their drink menu to find some incredible selections. And Ethan? His engaging conversations and genuine care for guests added a personal touch that made the evening stand out as a amazing door man. The barbacks and bartenders deserve a round of applause as well. Their professionalism and friendliness didn’t just add to the experience; they were integral to making the entire night seamless and enjoyable. It’s clear that the staff here doesn’t just work together; they create magic together, ensuring every guest feels special. Whether you’re looking for a night out with friends or a cozy evening to unwind, Freight Bar in Waco is the place to be. The combination of a fantastic staff, delightful drinks, and a warm, welcoming vibe ensures that Freight Bar isn’t just a bar—it’s an experience. Hats off to the whole team for making my visit unforgettable. I’ll definitely be back, and I highly recommend Freight Bar to anyone looking for an amazing time in Waco.
I went on a slow, cold Sunday night - but still had a great time! The owner & staff were super personable and kept me laughing for hours. They have a diverse beer selection including many local beers. Can't wait to go back on a warmer night to enjoy the yard!
Great experience here after leaving the class reunion. The atmosphere and drinks were wonderful. Definitely try the frozen ranch water. *Waco Black Owned Restaurant - Heny's Fly Chicken * We came to celebrate the LaVega's 30th class reunion at Freight and stumbled upon Heny's Fly Chicken. The cashier was adamant about the chicken and waffles but we wanted to experience the chicken. We ordered the Heny's Fly Chicken tenders and Oh boy! The tenders were so juicy and the he flavor was so pronounced. They house sauce complemented the tenders but could stand on it own. Definitely stop by and grab you a plate.
Excited to have discovered this place. Love the bar ambience and loads of things to keep you entertained in the out door space. Super pet friendly. There is an off lease park as well. Wide range of beers, ciders and seltzers. My personal favs were pineapple paradise (cider), mango cart (fruit beer), pre war pils, frozen ranch water and a gin drink. The menu has delicious appes. The bartender are amazing.
Really cool venue! Fun for a date night or time out with the whole family. There are several different fun games to play or just listen to live music and have a drink. I would highly recommend.

Honestly, I love freight and always have, been going there since it first opened. Taylor is the best, always takes good care of me, fast service too. Make sure to go out there and pay that guy a visit!
If you need a place to host your event - you've found it! Freight Icehouse and Yardbar hosted the graduation celebration for some of the summer '25 law school students. It was beyond perfect - the atmosphere, the willingness and flexibility to accommodate all of our requests and attentiveness to our party was spectacular. If I could give 6 out of 5 stars I would. Amber made the evening so special and fun and perfect. I could not have pulled it off without her! Customer service is an art and science and Amber has it down cold. Truly, I can't even think of any constructive criticism for Freight, Amber or any of their servers. Thank you Freight! and Thank you Amber!!
LOVE this place! Took my dog and we both had a great time.
Lots of activities. Great space. The basketball connection 4 was cool. The drinks are great.

Had a good time here. Mostly a younger crowd with Baylor being so close. We walked but there is a parking lot. There was a $5 cover charge because there was a live band that night. I liked that it was outdoors with a few covered areas. There are games to play like Jenga, cornhole, foosball, etc.
Such an awesome music venue featuring great local talent. The atmosphere was family friendly and clean. There's ample seating and good food from local food trucks. Check out the Atkins Tent Revival on stage. Good stuff!

I went to this place to have drinks with my DnL and found this is a very unique place with all types of games. The down side is that its more for young college student type people. Definitely not for the older crowd. It would be nice if there was a mixture of different aged people.

Nice outdoor vibes, dog friendly. No bar food available at 7:30PM on a Friday night. :-/ they had cup noodles a bag of chips on a bar. Beer is available. Come for beer and drinks.

Play terrible music that my kids have no business hearing the words to at 1am on a sunday! They are ruining their reputation by allowing these horrible things to be said so late at night. I live 3 streets away and i still hear it through my walls!
bartender sucked. busser walking around trying to throw away our fresh bought drinks. we were the only people there for hours. why charge us for a drink then throw it away????? and not replace it. bs
I’ve been coming to this spot since my undergrad days and always loved the atmosphere. I stopped by again tonight (they were showing Scream, which was pretty cool), but unfortunately had another disappointing experience with the same bartender with reddish hair. I’ve noticed this pattern before — she tends to give more attention to certain patrons while others, like my friends and I, are left waiting. The first time it happened, I gave her the benefit of the doubt and figured maybe she was just having a bad day. But after tonight, it’s clear this isn’t a one-time thing. It’s disappointing, because this place used to be one of my favorites, and I’d really like to see it get back to the friendly, welcoming vibe it once had.
