Another great addition to the Waco beer scene. I liked the beer a lot. The Red, Brown and IPA were all tasty. Friendly staff. We thought the pizza was really good. And they have PRETZELS & CHEESE, which I'm really excited about. Atmosphere is pretty cool with picnic tables inside, TVs, and open garage doors. Oh, and thought the music playlist was great too. Only request is that they make some upgrades to their board game shelf, though I'm definitely glad they have one.

First time going here Love to look of the place the atmosphere was great. The wings and the pizza was top-notch I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for some Great beer good pizza and wings.

I was able to enjoy Southern Roots on opening day, and I absolutely loved it. The beer was cold and refreshing, with a good variety available. The pizza came out hot and delicious (The Southern Sow), and the wings were enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even at the height of the rush. I highly recommend a visit as soon as possible.

Southern Roots is the brewery vibe I like to go to. It was trivia night and the place was packed. I sat at the bar and had 8 flights trying out the beers. The beers are delicious. The IPAs were great, but surprisingly it was the Christmas Sweater (winter ale) that took me by surprise and is the highlight beer of the night. They also do pizza here and it looks fantastic. I’m just here in Waco for 2 weeks but I’ll be back here again to try the food and of course drink more of this excellent beer!

Friendly environment and had options for gluten free - cauliflower crust margarita pizza was very good. They are dog friendly too! Charcuterie board was very good as well! They put bread and pretzels on the side so the others with me could have them since I could not.

I didn't buy alot but they were very generous in letting me and other people use their backyard area as a venue, food was amazing, and service was on spot.

Great ambience, vibe, staffs and food. I happened to taste the best sour beer here- coconut pineapple. I also enjoyed the Mexican Pilsner, gunfighter IPA and Courthouse Kolsch. Not many breweries offer a good Charcuterie Board but these guys do and it’s perfect for beers and ciders.

Labor Day lunch in Waco, not busy at all. Pick your own beer flight is always a plus, (hate it when they choose). Southern Belle pizza was a great choice. Beer was average but very good.

One of the best breweries in Waco. Dog friendly, good pizza and regular rotation of beers. Most other local bars/restaurants have them in can or on tap. Service is great; always helpful and friendly. Everytime I go everyone is having a good time and enjoying the atmosphere. They have events and occasional live music. My all time favorite was the Coffee Drip.

The beer selection is quite good, and the beer flavors and brew quality are exceptional. The atmosphere is relaxted, fairly quiet and very comfortable. They allow well-behaved dogs inside, and it is comfortably air conditioned. They hand make their pizzas, which are thin crusted, and delicious. Even though they are made fresh, it surprisingly doesn't take very long until you're enjoying them. I'm typically not a big pizza fan, but these were absolutely delicious and not too crusty.

Draft beer is Superb! The pizza was excellent.

We have had a lot of different brew pub experiences but this was one of the best. Not as many different beers but the ones we had were very good. Lunch was what we really wanted and we thought we would have to just settle with the usual pub fair BUT we were pleasantly surprised by some of the best pizza we've had. Usually thin crust doesn't thrill us, however this crust was wonderful with lots of flavor and texture.

Cold beer and a great environment to hang out in while enjoying the day. This is a must see place if you are stopping by Waco. Pizza, wings, chips and more make this a great spot to grab a quick bite. Food and beer are very well priced. TV for watching sports and board games and big tables ensure everyone is having a great time. Last but finally not least, this place is family owned and operated. Support Texas Brewers!

Love their vibe and the staff was super helpful and super nice. Their beer selection ranges to suit any taste, like blondes, hazy IPAs, porters and pilsners. We had a couple of flights to taste them all. Southern Roots Brewing Co. also has a really cool outdoor patio. Definitely stopping in again when we’re in town.

This place has the best pizza I've had in Texas! Perfect crust, no flop, slight crunch and foldable. The Southern Sow is the pizza we had. I highly recommend this place to anyone in Waco.

We accidentally attended the grand opening. "Accidentally " because we didnt know it was new. The staff was super friendly & the band was fantastic. They worked very efficiently so I would have never known it was opening night. It definitely had a fun cool vibe. They also serve wine, which was great for me as I cant drink beer. I usually am only able to accompany my husband to breweries but this time I could actually enjoy a drink too. Was happy to be able to try kissing vineyards wine. My husband loved his beer too. Great job!! Congrats!

Southern Roots really went all out on the local brewery experience. All five beers available for opening weekend we’re outstanding and without flaws that you might expect from a new brewery. The food we had was delicious and reasonable priced. Lots of room to hang out in the brewery. The staff were great and the bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable about their beer. Very glad to see the staff displaying their support of equal rights as well! I will definitely be back whenever I’m in Waco.

We stopped in from Dallas on our way to Austin and I’m so happy we did! Yummy beer with DELICIOUS pizza. Ordered the southern belle and subbed sausage for pepperoni. We had the hazy IPA and the lager- both solid.

What a cool place to come hang out with friends and our dogs. We really enjoyed the beer and pizza. The patio area was great, but we were really happy to sit indoors since it was so hot outside. What a great place!

Great brewery with a big backyard/patio. Dog friendly. Food available is stand appetizers and baked pizzas of all kinds. Only knock is that they only have 1 or 2 POS locations based on staff availability. That can cause a backup of guests waiting to order drinks or food. Overall an amazing place, and will be back when in Waco.

What a great brewery! Great recommendations from the bartender (recommended a surprising IPA- I'm not a fan of IPAs but will always try one, and their Hazy was great!). Lots of seating, nice people, good location!

I went on a Wednesday afternoon, when it wasn't too busy. I had the Bosque Honey Lager and It's Gonna Be Maibock, both of which were good. The service was great and the beer wasn't crazy expensive. A couple women walked in and immediately invited me to sit with them, and they regularly go there. It was just a cool, welcoming vibe. They also have games you can play.

My husband and I came to Southern Roots looking to drink something cold after walking around Waco all day. We ordered some boneless wings and a couple of surfside beers. The jukebox was on point!!! Come visit Waco, Magnolia and Southern Roots after 6p.

So glad we found this place when we visited Waco. Great selection of craft beer and we are sad we missed the Sour Ale by two weeks. The wings were a bit rubbery but we also didn’t specify we like them crispy. The El Diabolo Pizza was phenomenal

Stopped in for a quick drink on our way back to Austin from our visit to Waco. Trying to visit as many breweries as possible while in town from NJ. Out of the 6 breweries we visited, the two IPAs we had here were amazing!

Random stop to try and find a growler but there were none to be found. However the staff in the service was friendly and fast. When I got there it was just a few people and within an hour it was packed. That's what happens on Friday nights and the staff really was able to handle it. No starts for food if I don't order anything. Thanks Hunter for your hospitality @WiscoMary!

Amazing pizza. Arguably best pizza in Waco. Order the Southern Belle every time, extra honey on the side!!! The beer is also great and great variety !!! My go to place to have beer and delicious pizza with friends and loved ones.

Great place with good atmosphere. Loved their mugs for the mug club. Pizza was delicious, spectacular crispy crust. Wings could have been crispier but good flavor. Beer was good and flavorful especially the Irish 11. Will be coming back again and again!

I'm here for one reason and one reason only. This pizza I truly think is the best in Waco.... Yes better than Moroso, Shortys, and Portofinos.... Southern Roots needs to figure out how to add it to the One Bite Pizza review app. On a side note, beer is not bad here either, can't go wrong with a honey lager.

Really pleased - delicious appetizers; rustic, industrial interior, but relaxed/warm atmosphere; and a good variety of beer (fan of the hefe). I'd go back with the family to get a whole meal. They have their own lot, which is convenient in the middle of town.

Fantastic place for some really good beer and good food. Service was top notch in this comfortable brewery. Beers were all exceptionally good being well balanced and flavorful. Had an absolutely incredible pretzel that was soft, warm and nowhere near chewy. Enjoyed the stop!

Tl;Dr - Google reviews led us here while driving through town, and they nailed it! Atmosphere of this place is great. If you grew up listening to Alternative in the 90s and 2K, you'll dig the music here. Not so loud as i was able to have a conversation with my wife and 7/8 yr olds. The staff was overwhelming friendly. Not annoyingly friendly, like GENUINELY friendly. #texas Food service was FAST. We ordered a pretzel cause the kids were hangry having been in the car a couple hours. In about five minutes a nice lightly crispy on the outside, soft and doughy on the inside (not over salted) pretzel with cheese cup came out. It lasted about 90 seconds between the 4 of us. My 7/8 yr olds are pretzel connoisseurs, and they loved this pretzel. The pizza came out less than 5 minutes after the pretzel. This isn't the best pizza in TX. It doesn't need to be. It was very good. The pepperoni was on point and the Southern Sow was sweet and savory. The beer: This is VERY subjective. As usual for my reviews i encourage readers to check Untappd or Beer Advocate to get a better idea of them. I will say that the 2 adults definitely enjoyed them. I personally gave them all above average ratings on my preferred app. Nothing disappointed and everything seemed to be very true to style. They do flights of 4 beers, which i enjoyed, as well as standard pours of their various offerings. I just wish I could have sampled their more esoteric offerings, bit as i like to do for reviews, i stuck to the more common/ tried and true styles. Like always ordering enchiladas at a given texmex place. I'd love to revisit this place when I'm back in Waco. Thanks googlers for leading us here, and thanks to Southern Star for living up to the 5* reviews.

They welcomed my son's service dog to start with - we were turned away at Bubbas 33, and I'm glad since the doube Pepperoni pizza 🍕 we had was exceptional, the salad 🥗 was huge and their brown ale 🍺 rounded out the meal well. Coming from a state with well over 400 breweries and a lot of winter snow (hey....there's not much to do in the winter if you don't ski, so breweries come in handy), we know a good one when we see one. Our first visit to Southern Roots provided us with a tasty standard American Stout called Goat Cave. Odd name unless it was named after the Goat Cave Karst Preserve in Austin and produced using the water from the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer. But I digress. We enjoyed the Stout and the bartenders were very helpful and a delight to meet. Thank you to everyone at Southern Roots Brewing Company for a satisfying experience.

Great place to grab some wings or pizza. Large parties welcome, with a great area to eat and drink. Every beer I tried was great. Worth stopping for the beer alone. A large selection of board games to keep you entertained if nothing on the TV is worth watching. Also plenty of space to just chill with friends or a date. Parking can be limited on the side but plenty of parking around the area. Didn't forget to use untapped to track and provide feedback to the brewers. Fun place!

Stopped in for a to go order on a whim and to check out the place. There are a ton of board games and craft beer to choose from. Staff are exceptionally friendly and service was super quick. Plenty of parking available and walking distance to downtown if you are in the area sight seeing. Kid friendly and very laid back environment. Pizza was delicious, but note the bottom crust is thin thin thin so one 10" pizza can be consumed by one person if you don't eat the edges. Other than that, great atmosphere, great food.

My family has enjoyed Southern Roots Brewing Company multiple time now. We enjoy the Margarita Pizza and the Diablo, We also try out the pizza of the month. This time it was a BLT pizza and was definitely on point. (I forgot to take a photo of the BLT Pizza) If you are looking for a relaxing spot to enjoy a good bear and pizza I would highly recommend this location. The only issue I have is the lack of non alcoholic drink options for myself and my kids.

Staff was great. The young lady in the front was really nice. The Irish beer was delicious. Pizza was really good as well. Wings were not as crispy as I’d like but nothing a to go plate and an air fryer can’t help with. Nice big spacious place with a back out door area. Really enjoyed the vibes and great recommendations from the staff. Beer was solid, but being from ATL, our standards for IPAs are pretty high which is why I give 4 stars instead of 5. One of the short comings of most breweries is no food. Not only do they have food here, but their food is actually great! Cheesy breadsticks for the win!

Tldr Pizza tastes awesome but their sizes are 1-2 inches smaller than advertised. Really expensive for what you get. Ordered 4 pizzas tonight (3x 15", 1x 10"). Super excited to try them out for the first time. They are highly recommended by lots of friends. Got the pizzas home and they looked surprisingly small in the box. I was so surprised I actually busted out a tape measure. 2x of the 15" pizzas were actually 13" (that is a 25 percent decrease in the area of pizza you get, quite substantial). 1x 15in pizza was actually 14in and the 10" pizza was actually 9in. I know they are hand made pizzas and they can't be exact but you should really change the name to large and small pizzas instead of a fixed size especially when you're providing 25 percent less than what is advertised in some pizzas for the prices you charge. I just feel slightly ripped off.... Taste wise they are superb pizzas.

The staff really needs to work the kinks out of their new pos system. First of all, i had 4 beers added to my tab that I didnt order. Then when I went to close out, my name wasnt coming up as having an open tab. Thankfully Baylor was on the road. Couldn't imagine if it was a game weekend with these things happening.

We stopped in with a group to enjoy Southern Roots Beer. I thoroughly enjoyed the 5 beers i tried and thought they were all done very well. I usually only find one beer at a brewery that I like, or feel was done well, but I think you can't go wrong here with anything they have to serve. It was a fun atmosphere, with shuffle board and games. If your in the Waco Texas area, I would make a point to stop in T Southern Roits Brewing to quench your thirst, and take a few cans of their great beers for the road.

Great beer. Try the flagship. Beer is pricey though for Waco. A beer flight plus a second beer was $24 before tip. I’m from nyc and is about same price for 2 beers so I didn’t complain. Waco folks might not get same value.

Was a lively and bright spot. Friendly bartenders and kitchen staff. We were able to get some tasty last minute appetizers before they closed the kitchen. Could definitely be a brewery to revisit if ever back in Waco, Tx again.

Southern Roots Brewing is conveniently located within walking distance from the Convention Center. Good drink selection. Tried a dark and a light lager. The honey lager was crisp and delightful. Had the Southern Sow pizza and it was also fresh and tasty. Lots of cheese, I'd ask for extra onion to balance it out a bit more. Great atmosphere and good food drink. Would return.

Delicious pizza, unfortunately they just lost my business because they no longer carry the sweet red wine they lured me in with on my first visit! Not many places have a good sweet red wine so I guess it’s back to The Grape for me. But if they ever bring back the Papi Black I will be back!

Not meaning to tear it down, but the pizza could use improvement. It's alright, but it's sort of basic. The barmen were friendly and great to talk with. Their excitement for their craft shows and all beers we had were great. Good location.

We did a lot of beer drinking but is one of our Pink Boot Members breweries so we had to go try it out. We got in just before closing time and it was busy. I got a flight. I feel is the best way to give a good opinion of a brewery and the styles they’re able to do well. Always and I mean ALWAYS I’m going to try your Wit, Hefeweizen or Saison. They had two out of the three. It was crisp and satisfyingly good. The beer lacing on the Hefe was very good. I believe they also had food but we’ve been eating and drinking all day. It’s a cozy spot. I saw college crowd as well as families getting out after the storms swept through. The beertenders were friendly and didn’t mind giving tasters before you commit. I enjoyed my time there.

Wow this is a great brewery located in Downtown Waco, TX. The selection of beers is pretty good and they do have food options, which I really like, I had a tab running at the bar and the food could be put on without taking my card out again. Loved this place we will be back.

The environment is great with a huge variety of card games, board games, air hockey, arcade games, etc. We actually enjoyed the wings better than the pizza. The wings were super crispy with good flavor. The pizza was good, but not fantastic. They have a wide selection of beer and will let you sample if you're having a hard time selecting. The service was very friendly, but the food took a little longer than anticipated-which wasn't a problem because the kids were having fun playing games. Overall we thought it was a decent little joint and would go back again if in the area.

We were driving around before a night out and saw SRB and wanted to give it a try. Friendly customer service and playful atmosphere...perfect for a night out with friends. They have games and other things to spend your time but go for the food. We just got a simple small pepperoni pizza and order of boneless wings. I have to fess up to eating several wings before taking the photo. They were more like chicken meatballs but they were great. Loved their mango habanero and BBQ sauces. The pizza has a thiker crust and thinner center. I would definitely order a large next time. I would also plan to stay longer. Very happy we found it.

Walkable to downtown Waco and shopping. Super fun brewery after work date spot! The beer here is so good and they rotate a ton of their own special crafted beers. We got the pretzel bites and the pizza. Both were so good! The pizza crust was crispy and had a ton of flavor. One of the better pizzas in Waco! Definitely could go here to just grab a beer with some friends.

Came for bingo… lasted FOREVER! No need to play the entire song and then tell us what song it was. Food is great, service is good, just read the room. Need a bigger beer selection and AC turned down a bit. This is the third time we’ve been here. Maybe time to move on.

Beers are very good however, we ordered 1 pizza and it took 50 minutes to be ready. Place wasn't even full, this times only 50% of capacity is allowed in the business and we were only like 5 tables, around 20% capacity or less, yet it took an eternity for our food to be served. Wow, so the beer menu online drew us in, 20 minutes out of the way after a funeral. Just wanted to chill and relax for a little bit. The menu was not readable, the bartender was hateful and rude, but the wine was alright, went with wine cause we couldn’t read the beer menu, and the pizza was good. Staff made a bad day worse.

To charge $11.99 for a pizza whose size would indicate that it belongs on the kids menu is absolutely ridiculous. While the flavor is great, everyone in my group was stunned when the pizza delivered at our table. Pictures attached, no additional words needed.

I wanted to like this place so bad, it was a TikTok recommendation. But unfortunately they weren’t very friendly or welcoming. We got waters since they don’t serve liquor and we aren’t beer drinkers however we heard the lady who took our order talking about us because we only ordered water to drink with our food. She also delivered the food quickly didn’t ask if we needed anything or make eye contact just dropped it off as quick as possible& took off. 1 side of ranch was served for 10 wings.

Spent over an hour waiting for my food. I went up to ask and the gentlemen was very sincere and apologetic however the lady working was extremely rude and tossed our food at us. The pizza was super undercooked and fries were burnt. Thankfully he gave me a refund but I was hoping for a positive experience since I am visiting from out of state.

This was our favorite place to get pizza and beer in Waco and we've gone every week for the past two years , but after this past weekend, we're going to find somewhere else to eat. We had put in an order two hrs early for a pizza, and showed up to find that it wasn't ready. After waiting, for 30-40 mins, someone from the kitchen walked out talked to the person who took our order, cursed, and went into the kitchen. Knowing something was up, we waited another 7 mins before checking in. Turns out, all their pizza dough was frozen and they didn't have any ready at the moment and couldn't give us an estimation on how long it would take for our order to be ready. The fact that there weren't a ton of people in line or anything and no one walked over to us to notify us that we would be waiting for an indefinite amount of time for our food is inexcusable. I get that people in general are conflict averse, but it shows no concern or appreciation for the customer. Plus, how do you run out of pizza dough by 5 pm on a Saturday...? If you're actually hungry and wanting to eat in the near future, I'd recommend finding someplace else.

We have been frequent visitors of southern roots and always enjoy their pizza and atmosphere however today was a much different experience. We waited over two hours to get our food after ordering in a mostly vacant restaurant and I would never have said anything had it not been for the second waitress that came on shift confiscating our drinks that we had already paid for. I wouldn’t recommend going here unless you want to spend half of your day waiting for food that you order only to have the waitress decide you’ve had too much to drink during that time period. We will not be returning to this place.

The pizza taste good but took a very long time to receive. Very long! We accidentally went on open mic comedy night. Although I love a good funny open mic be warned it is not kid friendly. A comedian was very rude to those who spoke during his performance. It ruined the vibe of the night.

The food was good, the beer was good. The staff could have a little better attitudes. To me seemed kind of clickish. The pizza was good and the IPA was great. Update: Wanted to revisit this establishment, my dad was in town so I was treating him to a few beers. We walked in and sat at the bar, the bar tender never came over to us. We sat there for a solid 20 minutes without hearing a word from anyone so we got up and left. No they were not busy. This will probably be the last time I go here.

I don’t know how this place has good reviews, people must be drunk when reviewing. The food took forever, they were not busy! The pizza was not good, the cheese tasted refrigerated and not fresh. The wings were not editable, they were raw and very fatty. The pizza came out first, then the wings and then the pretzel….all three items took a 20 min span to receive everything. Food should not come out in batches, taking that long in between receiving each item. It should for the most part come out around the same time. We ordered a pretzel for an appetizer and it came out last. Don’t waste your money here on food. It’s not worth it. Stick to the beer!

Nice place. Ordered a pizza & wings. Got our food, both came out together, took about 15 minutes, not long. I picked up my first wing to eat, ICE COLD!!!!! I put it down real quick!! Thought to myself, WTH!!! I picked up another one thinking maybe not this one too. It's was. The skin was fleshy, the meat was not cooked. Looks like I will be baking chicken when I get home!!! The pizza was alright. This place isn't for eating at. Sad thing is, you order at the counter, pay, leave a tip. You get your food, and it feels like you're been robbed. Lesson learned. Never ordered buffalo wings that were not cooked. I wonder if the kitchen even bothered.
