May I give this place 10 stars please?! The service was excellent (Wade was an excellent waiter, gave me recommendations and suggestions) and the food was just as good. My wife and I ordered the artisanal cheese plate and it was delicious. My entree was the bronzino, Perfectly cooked! I loved the crispy skin on it and the little neck clams were delectable as well. My wife ordered the Atlantic salmon (not pictured) and was just as delicious. Me being a local, I am so happy that there is such a high caliber restaurant down the road from my house. Bravo to the management, cooks, the servers and the whole team!

I am traveling in Long Island for the weekend and stopped into La Plage for dinner on the recommendation of some local folks who love it. It did not disappoint. I was treated wonderfully throughout my time there (starting with the phone call to see if they could accommodate me without a reservation on a Saturday night!). I sat at the bar and was able to talk to two employees about the food. I ordered what they said they loved (the sweet corn chowder with crabmeat, the seared Banzino with Clams for dinner, and a Blueberry Crumble w/ homemade ice cream for dessert) and the meal was fantastic. I felt like a regular after 5 minutes and even got a tip on where to watch the sunrise this morning-Smith Point County Park on the other side of the Island! If you are near Wading River, don't sleep on La Plage. Thanks for the hospitality, the great food, and for making me feel at home after a long day of traveling.

We had a delicious meal at La Plage. Andrew our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about not only the food but all of the cocktail options. I got the cocnut margarita which was perfect!! We got the cheese platter and the lobster ravioli which were both amazing. Pictured here is the rigatoni with shrimp (they did not skimp on the shrimp lol) and my husband got the short rib which fell apart it was so tender. The atmosphere is upscale beachy and romantic but you can dress as casual as you like. I would definitely come here again.

The perfect place to have our wedding reception! The staff and Mary especially were extremely helpful in planning our perfect day! She was able to recommend florists and the bakery where we purchased our wedding cake. The setting was great and everything went smoothly. The service, impeccable as always. The food - incredible! Our guests could not stop raving about how amazing it was! We look forward to returning to La Plage to celebrate our wedding day over and over for years to come! Thanks!

Amazing food. Amazing service. Amazing experience. We have been coming to eat here for years, and it never disappoints. We have not once had a bad experience with the service or the food. 100% recommend and encourage everyone to try this restaurant. Meredith makes the best drinks and both Freddie and Andrew provide top-notch service with their kindness and knowledge of food and drinks.

Ordered from the take out menu during the shutdown. Portions were generous and more than enough for our group. Quality was excellent as always, including desserts. Highly recommended. I have been going to La Plage at least once a year for over a decade, and had my wedding catered by them in 2012.

Amazing little diamond in the rough on the north shore. Beautiful place, with great food and lots of tasty specials! The owner/chef was great at explaining and suggesting dishes and drinks! We have been here several times, but are now taking friends for dinner and they too LOVE it!

One of my favorite places to visit. It feels cozy and intimate in the evening. And during lunch hours it feels refreshing, and rejuvenating because of all of the light that comes through the windows and the beach being right across the street. Food is always great! They offer great, affordable lunch specials. Waiters are always genuinely friendly and attentive to the customer. Try the warm octopus salads and the beet salad...two of my favorite appetizers! I would not bring small children in the evening hours, because it's usually couples on a date night. I would say school aged children are fine during lunch hours. Prices are more affordable during lunch FYI if you're looking to enjoy great food at a more affordable price. Prices are higher for dinner, but definitely worth it.

Fabulous restaurant! The outdoor seating was lovely as it is across from the beach. We were greeted warmly. Staff was excellent. The menu is limited but the food was devine. My friend had the fish of the day which was salmon. I had the duck leg which was devine. The food came out hot. It was a lovely experience. Prices were reasonable. $18.00 for each plate. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

This was not the first and definitely not the last! Where should I start? Let’s begin with the front of the house! Hospitable and professional. One of the biggest impressions for me with any restaurant is service. Not to sound snooty, but the extension of a good restaurant’s kitchen and culinary experience is the serving staff. Fred, who’s been our server on several visits shows the heart of this establishment. No script for this gent! Specials spoken from the heart, questions of the menu? He will take you through each and every dish. This form of service is uncommon in this day in age. But let’s not forget about the cuisine! Several words; delicate, quality, vision, execution!

Expensive and Worth Every Penny. @fairfieldfooddude La Plage is conveniently located on the sound in the Longshore Golf Club in Westport, CT. Prices are a bit high compared to other local favorites, but the stunning views, delicious food and excellent hospitality more than makeup for it. The majority of the dishes are seafood, but there are certainly enough options to satisfy your seaside cravings. There is an extensive wine and spirits list as well. Due to demand I highly recommend making reservations online in advance. La Plage is open daily for lunch and dinner. If you are looking for a fun time with friends or a romantic night out La Plage is the place for you!

Excellent service, tasty food, all well-presented. Good-value wine menu. While across the street from the waterfront, you can see the water if you are seated outdoors (as we were) and don't have a large vehicle parked in front of your table.

I love everything they have and I love how the waiter and chef cherish the customer’s feedback which is the total licked clean plate lmao. Sweet corn soup is 5/5. Duck leg Config is 5/5!

i've been coming here since i was about 5 years old, and it has always been such a great place to eat. staff is always so kind and accommodating, food is always out hot and quick, and views and interior are clean and beautiful. i'm writing this review on 05/10/25, the day before mothers day. my sister and i brought my mom for dinner. the kitchen was a bit backed up but we were fine with waiting, and it was worth it. when we asked for the check, we were told that a staff member paid for our food (it wasn't a cheap meal, we ordered filet mignon, fluke, and pasta) and we were getting a free dessert. so, not only did someone pay for our $120+ meal, they also bought us a free dessert. as we were leaving, the staff member that paid for us met us outside and spoke with us. he was so sweet and had no reason to do that, but thank you so much Brandon. we really appreciate it. as you know, it's the first mothers day that my mom won't have her mom, and my sister and i won't have our grandma. thank you again Brandon, your service is always fantastic and we really appreciate you for this.

My fiancé and I absolutely adore this restaurant—it’s truly a hidden gem. It’s rare to find a place that excels in food, drinks, service, and ambiance all at once, but La Plage delivers on every level. Tonight’s special, the French Onion Soup with braised short rib, made for a fantastic appetizer and is a must-try if it’s available. For our main course, we both enjoyed the duck leg confit paired with truffle mushroom risotto—our all-time favorite dish on the menu. A thank you to our server, Brandon, who was attentive and professional, and to the rest of the amazing staff for a wonderful experience. We can’t recommend La Plage enough—if you haven’t been, you’re missing out!

This place is nice. Tuna and Duck confit taste very nice, as well as tartare and escargot for appetizers. Drinks are reasonably priced especially if compared to other places in the neighborhood. We will come back again soon.

My boyfriend and I came here last night for my 24th birthday and it was truly the best meal we’ve ever had. I noticed this place a few months back when we were driving through the area and knew I wanted to come here since; needless to say, it lived up to my expectations! I would come back for the mussels and the view alone. Everything was reasonably priced and perfectly cooked. Will definitely be coming back soon.

My wife and I have been going to La Plage for 20 years now. It is safe to say that it is our favorite restaurant. The place itself is a study in contradictions to a positive end. It is local, but also gourmet. It caters to a sophisticated crowd, but it isn't pretentious. Its menu is consistent, but the specials are ambitious and challenge you not to choose them over your favorites. The wait staff is knowledgeable and professional, but never talk down to you. It is not a cheap night out, but I have never once, in 20 years, felt like I haven't gotten my money's worth. In short, it is the perfect restaurant. The food is consistently delicious, but, as my wife discovered when she was pregnant, if you aren't happy with your meal, they will bring you something else, no worries. After all, their focus is on making you happy, which they have undeniably done for us over these many years.

We are so happy we chose La Plage as our caterer for our wedding day, June 16, 2022. Wayne, Meredith and the whole staff did a wonderful job! The food was phenomenal!! We were also able to create our own menu items with Wayne’s guidance with the food we love and wanted to incorporate into our special day. Attention to every detail really took the stress off me at the wedding. I was able to enjoy my guests and relax knowing event was in the best hands! Thank you for providing a great memory and everyone is still raving about the food!! Presentation was perfect and the service exceptional. Thank you so much for your help throughout the process! I would highly recommend La Plage as a caterer for your wedding.

Really really wonderful restaurant. From the views and setting on wading river beach - to the cottage vibe and casual atmosphere, it just knocks it out of the park the combination of casual and show stopping food. The menu is superb - literally so good that it hasn’t really changed in 15 years, but that is not a knock! Get the soup (any!) get the cheese plate or pork buns, but the entrees are where la place separates from the pack. There are 8 entrees - I have had ever single one. You can not go wrong. If it’s cold weather - duck leg confit with table side mushroom spooned out on your plate over a chive risotto??!? Better than it evened sounds if that’s possible. Warm weather : Fluke with Hawaiian crab fried rice and shellfish sauce - I fell off my chair. It’s that good . And they “almost” always have a poached lobster special with risotto which is out of this world. All of this served with hot rolls and butter with fresh chives. Next to the beach - right there. We go for dinner and take our kids to the beach swings after, always the best night of the week

Great place near the sound. We had the price fixe menu for $35.00. I had the duck confiet and my wife had the chicken breast. We also shared clams on the half shell and oysters. All delicious. We also had the chocolate cake and vanilla cakes for dessert. Well worth the price.

Amazing amazing amazing! Me and my wife come here for special occasions, our anniversary, her 40th birthday, and it is worth every single penny and then even more! The food is absolutely to die for, every bite is balanced and seasoned to absolute perfection. We've never been to a place that's done it more right than La Plage. Located across from the Wading River public Beach, La Plage provides contemporary french cuisine in a quaint setting. Some tables have views of the sounds, others the marsh, some not at all. Good wine list, and eclectic menu with a focus on seafood. This place makes a great date night. Somewhat expensive, but not enough to keep people away.

First time visiting and did not disappoint. The food was exceptional and honestly some of the best I’ve had on Long Island. The attention to detail is clear in the food. Although the meal was not cheap, I’ve paid way more for less elsewhere. We visited late on a rainy evening so the vibes were phenomenal. Quiet, private, and we were well cared for. We will be visiting again.

A very quaint French Restaurant on the water. In the photos are the following: French 75 martini, Broiled fluke over fried rice, Duck confit with truffle risotto and finished our meal with sticky toffee pudding with Pecan praline ice cream.

Their Snapper is made burnt and not my thing.. But the duck with Green rice in sauce is so amazing it put me to sleep. The ocean is steps away from the restaurant so you can go there after you eat or before you eat. It's not cheap at all. They are very expensive for the portions they give you, but it's super Delicious. Trust me.... If you have money and want to treat a new woman to a spectacular dinner, then bring her here. She will never forget it..

Gourmet eclectic French American food is top notch. lunch prix fixe is a great deal. Everything is cooked to perfection. Great wine list. Small casual beachfront atmosphere. View of the beach, L.I. sound, Connecticut, or the salt marshes. gourmet food in a casual setting is hard to find, and i love it. the Flambeau Shrimp is to die for. The tart apple salad shoud not be missed. Dinner is ala carte. Pricey but excellent. The cheif / owner has been at this location for decades. Ask any foodie/gourmet on Eastern Long Island and they will rave about this place.

La Plage was amazing from every aspect. We were greeted with a smile immediately as we walked in and shown to our table. The atmosphere was warm and very comfortable. Our service was top notch and our food was out of this world. For appetizer we ordered the beef capacio, oysters and little necks on the half shell. We ordered the Duck confit and Oso Bucco for our entres. One word...outstanding. Kudos to the entire staff at La Plage. It has easily become our new favorite restaurant.

This was our first time here after a friend told us to check it out. I live local and have never been before. We went on Monday which was bring your own bottle night, they provided a chiller and opened the bottle. We made a reservation and the hostess offered us multiple tables, thank you!! We had the buratta app, lobster special, and filet mignon. The buratta was delish, the filet was so tender and flavorful, the lobster special orzo and the claws were delish but the tail was a little chewy/fishy. Overall a great visit. We will definitely come back for anniversary or other large occasions.

Top notch did in a food setting. Style is I would say French / American twist and very very well done. The menu has a meal for everyone, we had a beet salad and a salmon tartar to share (my colleague and friend was stunned by the tartar; I myself thought the beet was exceptional as the subtle flavor is not something I can do easily). Then I had fish also well prepared. Liégeois for desert. A good time once again.

We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary at LaPlage last evening and had a wonderful time. Bartender Janine's Guava Collins was a perfectly balanced cocktail - not sweet; not bitter. The shrimp cocktail was boiled and chilled to order, and was excellent. The Lobster and Ricotta Ravioli, made in-house and served al dente, was divine. Special pan-seared Sea Bass with heirloom tomato salad was outstanding. Server was accommodating. Hostess brings a spark of light, welcoming warmth, and sophisticated personality that frames the experience. Well done.

Finally made it to this place!!! 💪🏻 I have heard rave reviews about this place and it has been on my list! We were spending the weekend out east and needed to head into Riverhead! I was thinking of a cool place for lunch and this place popped into my head! It’s in Wading River so a little bit of a ride but it did not disappoint! I didn’t realize but they actually have a lunch price fix menu which was AWESOME!!! My hubs and I split everything so we were able to try a few different dishes! First up was beef carpaccio salad and we got the mussels~ DELISH!!! For our main dish we had the branzino and the chicken! BOTH DELISH! We then ended with the included dessert which was fig ice cream and a fruit filled crepe! The lunch also had the option (hi~ right up my alley!!) of adding wine for $5 a glass for the first and the second just $10! You know I had both! The place is located across from the beach~ so it’s not on the beach and the front water view is blocked by parked cars in the parking lot but this place is a little hidden gem! Definitely recommend if you are in the area! The vibe is low key casual and the food was DELISH!!! 💖😍💖😍

Simply perfect! I definitely recommend checking this place out. The French-American cuisine, complete with signature dishes, was superb! My favorite was Duck Leg Confit (Fresh Chive Risotto, Truffle Essence, Exotic Mushrooms). The dessert was also very enjoyable. We will definitely come again. The staff members are incredibly kind and friendly, and I want to express my gratitude for making my birthday celebration so delightful and memorable. I recommend making a reservation and getting there a bit early to take a walk on the beach.

First visit with Henry and his wife who have been there many times. Did not take pictures of dishes but raw oyster and escargot was superb and my fluke dish was great. Nice wine recommendation as well~

Phenomenal meal in this tiny, laid-back restaurant right across from the beach. Everyone in our party of six raved about the food, especially the seafood. I am not much of a seafood person, so as part of the prix fixe menu I got the tomato soup, stuffed pork tenderloin, and strawberry panna cotta, and everything was absolutely delicious. If I lived in the area, this would be a regular stop for me (we were all visiting from elsewhere).

Talk about a diamond in the ruff …. This is it guys!!! No kidding . We stumble upon this wonderful family oriented delicious restaurant right by the water when taking my daughter to her class trip to a camp which was close by. She stayed a few days. On the way home , we stopped and had a late lunch . And then when we picked her up, we stopped and ate again. If your into a drive on a nice sunny day, head out east to wading river and enjoy a wonderful meal in a wonderful atmosphere . I promise you, you will not be sorry. This restaurant will be my new place to go when I have a whole day to myself. Drop everything , grab your best friend, your significant other, and spend some quality time having quality food, with quality service.

Went here for a little mid week date night and had a great time. Overall one of the better restaurants we’ve been too out here. The Petulant Martini was great along with the Strawberry Agradulce. Loved the smoke salmon tartare and I normally don’t love duck confit but I had a bit of my Fiancé’s and it was really good. I had the fluke with Hawaiian crab rice and I would go back for it.

What a jewel off the beaten path facing the beach on the Sound. The food is exceptional. The staff knowledgeable about the dishes, chef is accommodating. The branzino was excellent. I’ve had their mussels prepared two different ways and served as an appetizer. The desserts are so decadent and delicious and the variety should suit anyone.

The food was good and my favorite was the duck leg confit. The wine selection leaves much to be desired felt some of the staff were rude except our server. The space is small and a bit chaotic. Nevertheless, I'm sure this restaurant is one of the best choices around the area.

La Plage is a first rate dining experience. We have dined there several times and the location, food selection/preparation/presentation and service have been unerringly excellent. The Osso Buco is one of the two best braised shank preparations I’ve ever had. Please see the photos for our latest experience.

Small, low-ceiling, cozy restaurant in beautiful setting across from a Sound beach. Parking is tricky. Food is reliably delicious. Service is friendly, professional but a little spotty. We were next to the door to the covered porch and it was slamming and banging the entire night as waitstaff hustled in and out. That was very unpleasant and added to the din, making it very hard to hear.

B
Bob Creed

We absolutely love this place and it was.a.special night for us. They start you off with a freshly baked bread with a seasoned butter that you will want more off. The Mussel appetiser is a unique must get (save some of that bread for the sauce). The sweet Corn and crab soup is also very good. We've tried the filet, the short ribs and the oxtails before and it was all fantastic. Last night I had the poached lobster special and my wife had the pan seared Fluke. I loved the lobster but my wife found that the soy they used on the fluke was extremely salty and she was only able to eat a portion of it. We were a little taken back that other than a thanks for letting us know and an apology they made no attempt to make it right. This resonated later an it pretty much continues as the topic of discussion on the way home. I still think it's a great place but it will be harder to convince her to go again and you know how that goes. For desert, they make their own ice cream and it's very good. The banana choc bread pudding is to die for!The staff was always very nice with the exception of making it right for my wife.

S
Sunita

We had a wonderful lunch. They have a prix fixed lunch for $30. Add $5 and you can have a glass of Macari Vineyards wine. We had oysters, the tricolor salad, duck confit and chicken breast. And, one each of the desserts. Everything was made well and quite delicious. We'll definitely become a regular patron.

J
Janice F

Nice meal across from the sound, although the water isn't visible due to the sand and playground equipment. The burrata appetizer was delicious except the mustard sauce was a bit too strong. Nice duck confit. We did have to send a drink back as it had been poorly made and the wine wasn't sufficiently chilled.

J

Had a phenomenal Father’s Day dinner! We come here for all special occasions but guys PLEASE the way you downsized the green apple salad to 1/4 of the normal portion but kept the same price is down right diabolical! My bill was 480 dollars for 4 people, please bring back the normal salad size 🤍

food and vibe are always wonderful at this spot... maybe our server had an off night but she was brusque and palpably not very warm toward us. Have never had that kind of interaction at La Plage. It is a special occasion place for us and so we were happy to be there, but the unfriendliness we encountered was a downer. We're hoping last night was just a bump in what we always count on as a fabulous and uplifting experience

J

food was excellent and portions were good for the price. definitely worth a stop within the area. our server was oddly mia for the most part, but the host was lovely and made up for the lapse in service. hoping to give it another shot soon!

The food was outstanding! We ordered the lobster ravioli and shrimp cocktail for appetizers. The lobster ravioli was delicious!! We ordered the short ribs and duck for entrees. The portions were not overwhelming. And the dessert menu was not impressive or else I would give 5 stars. The service was excellent. The bay was across the street so you can walk in the sand after. I would definitely go back.

We have been going to the La Plage restaurant for years. We went on Saturday, a snowy evening and we were really looking forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day. My wife and her sister were looking forward to the Beef Short Ribs. It was on the website and when we arrived to order it, we were told they were revamping their menu and it will no longer be an option. That was unfortunate as that was one of their best dishes. I would recommend that you consider putting that back on the menu. I like fish and usually go with that choice, but not everyone likes fish and you should include another beef option.

Also good food at LaPlage! I only wish they would change up or add more things to the menu.

Great little restaurant with good food, drinks, and service. The staff is very friendly and accommodating (Mary, Fred, Max). The ambience is very good as well. All the dishes were tasted great and were cooked to perfection.

Sat outside with friends and the scenery was beautiful. I got to try the lobster ravioli and mussels appetizer, and OMG the bread dipped in the mussels sauce is to die for. For my entree I had the pappardelle pasta which I found to be okay. The sauce was too runny in my opinion it felt like I was eating soup but the pappardelle itself was very tasty. I tried my friends rigatoni pasta and liked that one better so if you’re debating which one to order then get the rigatoni pasta. Their chocolate cake dessert is SO good 1000/10

Intimate place across from a small beach. Very nice staff. Food was delicious. We got the PEI mussels appetizer, pan fried fish, lobster special, and two desserts. Everything was great. They do have a covered outdoor eating area, but we ate inside. The only reason for lack of one star in atmosphere is the bathroom needs to be a little cleaner and the door knob was broken. Definitely wouldn’t deter us from going back again, but couldn’t give it the full five stars for that reason.

Visited La Plage on a Sunday afternoon in September with a reservation. The place had a nice crowd for the time of day. To tell the truth, I was disappointed with the meal. I started with the red and gold beet salad which came with field greens, a tasty Greek cheese, pumpkin seeds, and a dressing which was non-existent. The beets were old and soft with no taste. The salad definitely wasn't worth the $12 cost. On a positive note, the salmon was done perfectly, moist on the inside and nice and roasted on the outside. The dish was advertised to come with asparagus and cherry tomatoes. I saw one half of a cherry tomato and slivers of asparagus and they were mixed with some sort of a green that made up the small bed of greens that the salmon rested on. I had to look hard to find any slivers of asparagus. Needless to say, I went home disappointed and hungry, I thought $29 for the plate was a little high, considering there were no vegetables on the side. The establishment was clean and comfortable and social distancing was practiced.

There were good dishes served to us, and the staff was friendly and attentive. However my grilled chicken tasted tough, and it took a minute to realize that somehow it had arrived undercooked, which was a first at any restaurant. After sending it back to be cooked some more it was fine. If you can get past this, there's a nice room in the back with beautiful views of a large meadow.

May 11 2025….came here for Mothers Day dinner. Read some good reviews and “the most romantic restaurant on Long Island”. As a son of a chef raised in a kitchen cooking along side my dad, NYC trained and owning our own restaurant for over 11 years. I know a little about food and meal prep. Very expensive price fix menu for mediocre food. We had a lobster bolognese style fettuccine pasta that was swimming in its own juices. Tells me I’m about to have boiled pasta with little flavor, YEP! Next bacon wrapped shrimp over risotto. Shrimp were way over cooked and bland risotto. Next Black Sea bass, over leaks and white asparagus. Please tell me they were not canned. I had to go back on line a few times to make sure I was eating at the right restaurant. On their website their menu had a duck confit prepared table side??? Can’t be the same place. Is there a new owner or chef. In bathrooms all I saw was these reviews hung up, dated 2007. Wow! Not impressed and sad! Not worth my hard earned money!!! The view isn’t worth mediocre food. D

I hadn’t been here for decades. Remembered its reputation for being great and was disappointed. Our server was excellent and the food was good. However, it was hard to enjoy it because of the flies. There were dozens of them and they were biting us! We were sitting outside, in the third of the patio where there is no operating fan. It seemed like those that had fans were okay. We had bug spray with us, and yet it was still unbearable. The manager was unwelcoming when we arrived and never came over to us, despite other members of the staff trying to deal with the bug situation. They said it’s an ongoing issue. She (the manager) was a big turn off. Bonus that it’s dog friendly, outdoors.

Gabby has to go. She is a horrible person to have on your staff. Not only is she rude and cold on the phone, she is exactly the same way in person. Not only to us but to her colleagues which we overheard when she was ordering them around. Get rid of Gabby and you should have.a good chance. You don’t want someone like that on your staff. It will ruin any chance you have. Ignorant, inexperienced, incompetent, and miserable.

Have been here hundreds of times over the last 25-30 years and I am saddened to see its decline. The food lacked flavor and portions have definitely decreased. The atmosphere is looking old an and need cleaning. The service was adequate, but not as friendly and personable. That may help with the amount of flies in the restaurant that can be very annoying. Also, I’m guessing the ac was not working because is was very warm and uncomfortable. It may be a while before we come back. Maybe next time will be a better experience.

First holiday weekend off in long time. Server was Wayne, very nice until we told him the entire middle of my filet mignon was well WELL done, not medium well. Appetizers were awesome, view beautiful, but our server shrugged off my dismay of my entree. Have not been here since prior to covid, so disappointed in my steak. Wish the attitude was a bit more apologetic from Wayne.

I have to say I had high expectations. My first disappoint is that the website did not say the menu was scaled down. I ordered the Grilled Marinated Chicken Breast. The presentation was blah at best and the chicken was dry. My friend ordered the Rigatoni Pasta and she quite enjoyed the sauce. The sauce on the PEI mussel appetizer is also worth a try and the mussels were prepared quite well. I have to say the view of the water is an added plus for the restaurant. The staff was friendly. I will try it again when the full menu is available instead of the scaled down pandemic menu.

I was anticipating a great dinner but was extremely disappointed! Restaurant week menu, but I went early , it was not crowded at all. The beet salad was ok, but the osso bucco with risotto was horrible! The risotto was not fully cooked! Swimming in white water. Had no flavor at all! The meat was cooked, but tasteless! Very disappointing!

The restaurant was very well recommended, but average in reality. The building and room is quite charming and intimate without being crowded, which was nice. Service was decent. Our server was kind and gave good advice, but at times was absent. The food was just ok. Decent portions sizes but a tendency to load up on sweetened sauces in starters and mains. Probably not worth the $30-50 entree price tag. The desserts we had were really good.

Well OK here I go. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years. Was an upscale feel with really good artisan food....until today sadly to say. They completely over hauled their staff....why was that?....I have no idea but the staff WAS highly professional and unfortunately NOW not very professional and definitely a step downwards and it's painfully obvious. The restaurant still looks great and has a unique location. Our appetizers were great, the mussels and sweet corn soup with crabmeat. My wife's duck confit was exceptional. I ordered one of the pasta dishes, extremely disappointing, only because they took their Short Ribs, btw which is awesome, off the menu which was disappointing and said it wasn't seasonal but ironically their Osso Bucco and Duck Confit along with other dishes to me were not seasonal either but what do I know! Actually I do know, LOL. Now it gets better, unfortunately my server put in the wrong dish for me, brought me swordfish which looked awful btw, and then put my rushed Pasta dish out in 5 minutes which was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE....undercooked fish, undercooked chorizo over cooked pasta and tasteless pomodoro sauce...a total disappointment to say the least. They were very apologetic informed me then that the whole staff is new. They brought out the dessert menu and at this point I just wanted my bill...I said no thank you and THEN at that moment said are you sure it's on us...would have been nice if they offered that before dropping the dessert menu on the table, purely unprofessional staff....could have taken one of my wife's drinks off the check but not my job to tell this unseasoned staff how to do the right thing....not that I need anything for free mind you.....Overall sadly disappointed...probably will not go back....for the prices they charge I expect better....a shame because their staff was excellent....and their food was always spot on......... A GOOD STAFF IS AS IMPORTANT AS THE FOOD especially in a fine dining experience.

How can such a nice restaurant have such a disappointing waiter. We sat outside. The food was great and atmosphere was comfortable but, unfortunately the waiter was awful. He rushed us the whole night and we sat down with a reservation at 7pm. It seemed like we were a nuisance to him. He had the audacity to come to our table asking why we gave him 14%… gave us a lesson on “industry standard”. Lucky we gave him anything, wish I could take back the $40 he received. Never in my life have I experienced such a rude and unpleasant waiter. Based off other reviews… seems he has to go. Great food but unfortunately we won’t be visiting again with Mr. industry standard there.

First time eating here was good. Went again this evening and both entrees and both appetizers were a 4/10 if I’m being generous - assuming they changed chefs. We didn’t finish either entree. Would recommend going somewhere else.

Extremely high prices for the quality of the food. I had the weirdest burrata ever. It had no tomatoes, and it had mustard on top. Also, the toast was all burnt. I told them the toast was burnt and they offered me another one and I said "no thanks I am full" and they brought me half a toast that was also burnt. I would just rather have it taken off the bill cause it was not worth it to pay 20 dollars for a piece of toast with mustard and some cheese (it looked like eggs benedict -weird)... the fish was really good, but 41 dollars for a piece of fish and a tiny salad was not worth it. The waiter was nice but definitely looked a little lost, and service was a bit sloppy. Wouldn't come back. I appreciate giving me the toast, but I didn't even eat it since I was full, and it was quite hilarious and weird that they brought half a toast (the full size was two toasts). Didn't even bother to try dessert after the underwhelming experience.

Our family has eaten here many times over the past 20 years and I am saddened to see the decline. Our food lacked flavor and the portions have drastically decreased in size. The service was sub par and the staff thought nothing of arguing with one another throughout our entire meal. That coupled with the excessive amount of flies inside the restaurant made our meal annoying instead of enjoyable. We ordered coffee and it was brought out after we were finished eating our dessert. It was no longer wanted and we should not have been charged! It will be a while before we come back, if you come back? If this was our first visit, we would most certainly not return :(

Terrible wait for the food to arrive and extremely small portion sizes. Avoid at all costs! My wife went with a group of 8 from BNL for lunch here, they sat down at 12:30 and could only leave by 3:45 after several delays including a billing mistake. The $30 set menu took forever to come and several postdocs ended up leaving hungrier than they arrived, so you can imagine the portion sizes that were offered. The only positive thing that deserves a single star is the atmosphere here. Will not return.

My family and I have been coming here every summer from Queens, NY for years. And I've never complained until today. There's a public beach right across so we usually spend some time there after our meal. We initially made a reservation for 2:15pm but with traffic from Queens we rescheduled for 4pm and got there 30 min early. One of the servers (wish I got his name) approached us in a rude manner as soon as he saw us park in the parking lot further away from the restaurant. He pulled in impatiently nearly hitting my daughter and shouted multiple times "do you see where you're parking", as if we didn't know how to read. I had advised him to approach customers in a nicer way especially when running a business, and he said "if you think this is being rude you haven't seen anything yet". He assumed we were taking advantage of the parking lot just for the beach. He claimed to be the owner of the restaurant and when we stepped in to cancel our reservation he had just clocked in to serve for dinner. We spoke to the manager and said he'll have a word with him. We did not feel comfortable eating there anymore after that horrible altercation. I would understand if the parking lot was packed and we were taking up space just for the beach, but that was not the case. We were long time customers just trying to enjoy our day off from the city.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. I am not sure what happened, but it is not the same. We went for my birthday. The service was terrible and the food was not good. We waited quite a while to order drinks/wine while only one other table in the restaurant. When they brought my dessert out the waiter(s) did not sing son the entire restaurant patrons sang to me. It was wonderful but no thanks to the staff. I would not ever go back.

My swordfish was thin and not seared or crisp. The sauce was bitter. A forgettable dish. The above review was written in 2023. Two years later we decided to give La Plage another chance. This time it was even worse. The "sweet" corn soup was tasteless, watered-down thin gruel. The "seared" sea scallops had no sear marks and were soggy and nearly raw. The ravioli wrappers were thick, chewy and tough. The filling was tasteless. The service was nonexistent. We were totally ignored. We never even got a chance to order additional glasses of wine. This time we vowed: "Never Again."

Really disappointing experience. Unfriendly waitress and really substandard escargot and sea bass. Would never go back to this place. Food really bad.
