We've eaten at Mesquite for several years now. My only complaint is that they have reset my expectation for what a "good" taco is - seems like I'll never have a taco at any other establishment. My favorites are the shrimp/salad wrap (really nice sauce, works very well with goat cheese) and the pulled port taco. Love the additional of apples to the pulled port taco.

Love this place, been going since they had the food truck on 111 in Manorville....every time the food is amazing. AWESOME calamari! Worth the drive from the south shore! Chicken cutlet taco is favorite but they’re all amazing. Great staff too!

I am always looking for a reason to pass by Mesquite for lunch or dinner. Their food is fresh, delicious, reasonably priced, and served with a smile in a relaxed, clean, well-considered atmosphere. Every experience I have had there has been pleasant to say the least. The fact that it's BYOB is delightful. Bring a group of friends for a fun evening catching up over great food, or bright your special someone for a cool date. Mesquite is just right for anyone, any time. Just got home from dinner there and I'm already looking forward to heading back. The grilled shrimp wrap is addicting!

One of my fav places. Their calamari is always render and crispy and served w a wonderful green sauce. They have a revolving board of interesting choices like duck or brisket tacos. My fav is their jerk chicken taco and I always have to get that when I go. Their shrimp and steak with blue cheese tacos are delicious too. It's a small place and a little out of the way but it's across from a pretty duck pond. Def give them a try.

I am glad I found this place because I missed having the other Mesquite location in Sound Beach when it closed several months ago. They always served fresh, delicious and creative Tex-Mex style tacos. Their Steak and Goat Cheese Taco was always a favorite of mine. I ordered it, a Fish (fried Mahi-Mahi) Taco, a Coconut Shrimp Taco and a Steak & Goat Cheese w/Spinach Quesadilla ( which was amazing). My niece ordered a Fish Taco. Suffice to say I was hungry and very pleased with the meal I had. The people were friendly and prompt with our order. And even though it is approximately 20 minutes away from me, tucked away in a pleasant & quaint location across a local pond, I will go back to get my taco fix when I get the craving. I highly recommend this place.

I love when Mexican restaurants keep traditional tacos and experiment with mixing different flavors. The hot and crunchy chicken taco had a mango salsa/slaw and the mix of sweet and spicy was delicious.

The food... wow, the food was amaz-balls! The food was done before I asked for it. 8 mins early than original knowledge (which they emailed to let me know) they gave salsa and hot sauce in case we needed it but the tacos were perfectly seasoned and spiced, just as they were! They also have daily specials.. can't wait to go back and try the special tacos.. not a burrito fan in general, all tacos all the time!

Small and comfy cantina with a huge variety of interesting tacos. We tried a variety of steak tacos and the meat was very tender. The seasonal mixed drinks were very tasty as well. Glad we stopped by!

Went here with my Wife last weekend for lunch. The chicken tacos were amazing. Also my Wife had the shrimp taco, also amazing. The lamb chili was out of this world! Going back for more asap. If you ever have a chance to go here....go! You will not be disappointed.

I’ve stopped here about 3 times after new ownership summer 2022. With the new hours Its more convenient to get a good homemade lunch. The chicken and steak tacos are really good pork tacos are a bit tough and stringy. The Spanish street corn is amazing. Also there homemade drinks are really good as well. I definitely recommend coming for a quick bite to eat they also give you free chips and salsa while you wait that’s customer service!

First-time diners. It was a bit confusing, since the line for takeout was full. However, staff assured that tables and service was available. Staff was friendly, our choices were delicious. My only wish is that they offered grilled veggies, which I am sure would be as delicious as the rest of the menu.

I've been going to this place since it originally opened and the food is always very tasty. I can usually split it up into two meals for myself so it's definitely worth it for me. I was passing through. My family used to own a summer cottage in Wading River so I was being nostalgic and stumbled across this gem the girls giggling in the kitchen was a nice bonus too, gives off positive vibes and oh … I like the music and that it wasn’t too loud. Lovely atmosphere! EXCELLENT!!!! WoW!!!!!!!! I ordered a torta with fries and dip DELICIOUSNESS!!!!!!!! The tortilla chips with what I am assuming is their house salsa WOW YuM !!! I do feel, that there should be some sort of a host/greeter to ask if you’d be staying or taking out, with all the tables set it was a bit confusing whether I should of walked to the counter, seat myself or even if the customer is staying, do they order from the table (I ordered at the counter and paid and he brought it to me and also brought me salsa and chips to begin, while I waited, so a greeter would meet with and go hand and hand with the fabulous food and the lovely atmosphere.

Went for the first time. The shrimp burrito was delicious. Shrimps were cooked to perfection. They give you a choice to have it as a bowl or even fajita style. The mango lemonade was so refreshing. Will definitely recommend and be back again.

This place is a real gem! My husband and I eat here about once a week and have literally never been disappointed. Craig (the owner) is extremely down-to-earth and creative. His "hot and crunchy chicken taco" (usually on the specials list) is one of the best things I've ever eaten. He's constantly coming up with new and unique recipes, like the "shrimp scampi taco" and "brisket taco". He also always makes an effort to remember his returning-customers by name (a quality rarely found in restaurants today).

Went for an early dinner last week with my fiancee and LOVED the food, service, and great attitude. I appreciate that this place is owned by a patriot and who appreciates the idea of liberty. Excited to make this our weekly Tex Mex lunch or dinner! And thank goodness for their masks-optional policy! Finally a business owner with some common sense.

A friend had told me to try this place out since I recently moved close to it. I figured it would be decent. To my surprise it was delicious! Definitely worth checking out. My favorite taco was the goat cheese and skirt steak. It was an unexpected delight!

My husband and I try to go every week. We love their speciality tacos. Everything is so fresh and delicious. Service is superior. We love this spot. In the summer we grab our tacos and go down to the beach to see the sunset. Worth trying and then you’ll be a regular like us.

I have never left this place dissatisfied. The best tacos and burritos with a fun mix of daily creations all worth sampling. The perfect pit stop on the way to or from the local beach, with beautiful views of the pond just outside of the door. A small taste of tropical air even in the winter months- the owner is usually present and is the warmest person you'll ever meet.

This is my favorite restaurant in town. They had a location in my home town (Sound Beach) for years but moved to Wading River. We make the trip almost every week because the food is that good. The owner and staff are all awesome. If you like spicy (but not too hot) - you gotta try the firecracker chicken taco!

I love near and come every once in a while and lately my favorite thing to order is their Fish Taco. Perfectly tender fish with a sweet mango salsa makes an amazing lunch, their steak taco is also great the steak is very tender and flavorful. don't forget a side of chips and salsa!

Great food, great atmosphere. There is parking available in the back which is a plus. Overall most of the food is under $10 and quite well prepared and filling. The restaurant has a beautiful view of a pond right across which makes lunch/dinner a bit more enjoyable.

I order take out from here. The baria tacos would be a 10 out of 10 if they could get it crispier on the outside. So 9 out of 10 because the inside is soooo delicious and their gravy is great. Love it!

My husband found Mesquite searching for good eats in the neighborhood. So we Stopped in for the first time today. The menu was very intriguing. We ordered the birria tacos, the goat cheese steak tacos both were exploding with flavor and delicious. We tasted meat in every bite ( thats important for me) Nice portions but not huge. They Are made from scratch everything tasted very fresh. The chicken cutlet taco (not impressed very generic) We also ordered chicken bacon ranch quesadilla to go for mom and she loved it. The guy behind the counter was nice and courteous. He brought the food over to the table. They also provided complimentary Chips and salsa which are made in house. Fantastic first impression. We will definitely be back to try some more tacos. Small bar/restaurant, Quiet area, street parking available, nice lake in front of establishment. Typical pricing for tacos $6.50 & up

The Guacamole & Salsa with chips is the best Ive had lately. They’ve an adorable bar and really nice bartender. I can’t get here enough, since I live in the City. But, Im happy to be there when I get there!

the best tacos in wading river! every time i get tacos they’re always great! The pulled pork, blue cheese steak and fish are my favorites! This time I tried the bbq chicken and that was great too. The chicken tortilla soup was good but not a traditional chicken tortilla. It was missing that rich tomato broth with the spice and tortillas. it tasted more like a chicken noodle soup with avocados in it.

Stopped in for the first time. The menu was very intriguing. I ordered the corn soup and a beef taco, both were flavorful and delicious. It also tasted fresh. New ownership. Still tasty but the tacos were very paltry (two thin pieces of pork in the pork one and just one thin piece of steak in the steak and blue cheese one) and overpriced.

Smaller than I imagined when I walked in with friends, seating for 12 guests or so. The tacos and quesadillas are amazing. Which is why I will most definitely make my way back. Not horribly prices BUT, I wish they had more of a drink selection. Not even the fact theey should get a liquor license to serve beer.... But more of a soda selection even. I'll still go back because the food was perfect. Staff is also very nice and they bring your food to you

Food is okay. I’m from Rhode Island and have eaten at plenty of authentic Mexican restaurants. I ordered a burrito from here and the beans weren’t cooked all the way.

If this said it was a Mexican-Italian fusion I'd believe it, but tex-mex? No so much! They had very little to offer as vegetarian, and you can call me what you will, but putting food in a tortilla doesn't make it a Taco. Enjoyable for a try of something new even though $5 per "Taco" is a bit too spendy for what you get, I'd eat it again. For me, I Wish they used Mexican cheese instead of Parmesan though. Cotija FTW.

Fish taco had decent flavor but very little fish. It was also hard to eat because it was sloppy.

Food is good/average. Prices competitive. Problem is they often get your order wrong, then are rude to you. I've given it three tries no more. Done with this place.

$5 a taco. Salads served in to-go tins. I like the location and I wish them well but I won't go back. Did notice a lot of traffic parents with toddlers.

Food was not great. No seasoning or flavor. Best thing was a goat cheese taco but they just scooped a ball of goat cheese on it instead of spreading it in any way. Pretty underwhelming place. Outside dining is nice lol

The interior/exterior and staff are nice. They did a great job with that. However I really just care about the food and they don’t make good food. Chipotle is better and that’s not saying much. The rice in my burrito was hard, most likely it was undercooked. I’ve eaten at like probably 200 Mexican places and never had hard rice. Also the food is just super bland. I mean probably 95% of their clientele is Caucasian people from Suffolk so their tastebuds can’t tell the difference. It’s like watered down Mexican and not really Tex mex which is super flavorful and tasty like real Mexican food. Again, great building and staff but the food is sub par.

If you’re looking for a place that has terrible service and people who don’t want to work and give you good service this place has it, besides looking dirty, the man that takes your order has a really terrible personality, don’t waste your time going up here,

II. PLACES A. Kitchen Area • Responsible Parties must ensure kitchen staff wear face coverings at all times. Not compliant. We wound up throwing out our take out after purchasing, did not eat it. In the past the food was very good. I'm sure it will be tasty in the after-times. But "no for now." On the flip side if you are looking for a good burrito without having to wear a mask at the register before eating, prepared by individuals not wearing masks, then this is your place. The even have a sign out front that says people without masks are welcome.

I ordered takeout on Cinco de Mayo. Order number 49, the nachos were ice-cold and you forgot to put the shrimp taco in the bag. I called twice to see if I could pick up the taco and or replace the nachos and no manager got back to me so disappointed

I arrived for lunch this afternoon with my mother, daughter and service animal. As soon as we walked in the owner immediately started shaking his head as we approached the counter and told me loudly, “no dogs.” I told him she is a service pet and lifted up the badge attached to her vest and also offered for him to see her paperwork. He responded by asking me, “which one of you is disabled?” He looked from one of us to the next and back. Uncomfortable, I responded that I am. With that he looked at me, waved away the badge and asked us to leave. I was horrified! In 5 years with her I have NEVER had anything even close to this experience. I was close to tears, and our afternoon was ruined. My disability is not obvious, true, but he basically called me a liar. I am not one to leave a bad review, and I hesitated to leave this one as well. But, I just felt so compelled to do so after the way I was treated. If nothing else, perhaps he will educate himself so the next person does not have to have a similar experience.
