We had a wonderful stay. The service staff was absolutely amazing—always friendly, attentive, and ready to help. The resort offers a great variety of pools, making it easy to find one that fits your needs. One suggestion for improvement would be adding more chairs at the beach. Availability is limited, and if you’re not in line by around 8 a.m., the waitlist can take quite a while. Overall, Hawaii is absolutely gorgeous, and we truly hope to come back again.
If you want a resort style vacation in maui, look no further. Things are expensive but worth it (and truly not as crazy as some resorts can be). Every aspect of our stay at wailea beach resort was amazing! The views, the pools, the rooms, the service and attention to detail, the access to the beach, the activities, and other amenities can not be beat. The food options were also delicious. Highly highly recommend the te au moana luau, the food at the adults only pool, the whales tale coffee, and riding the slides in the adventure pool (theyre more fun as an adult). We cannot wait to come back and get our free chocolate bars and POG juice!
The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful in resolving an issue we had during check-in. The resort was very busy over the Thanksgiving weekend, but it became much more enjoyable with fewer people afterward. However, the soundproofing in the rooms could be better, as noise from people talking in the hallway was noticeable. On the positive side, I appreciated the dedicated adult-only pool and the separate pool area for kids. The sunset views were truly amazing, and the morning yoga class was a highlight of my stay.
Great vacation location, huge slide my kids loved. Would stay there again, though would check the dishwasher first, ours flooded the kitchen. You can see from the photos we used the room a lot, it is more than spacious enough for my family of 5, the kids are under 14 years old. The view from the balconies was perfect. Though with 3 kids the wife and myself didn’t get a chance to drink wine while enjoying the view.
We had a great stay overall at the Wailea Beach Resort, and the staff is hands down the best part. Everyone we dealt with was kind, patient, and genuinely helpful. Our first room was well…a choice. It was right off the lobby next to the elevators, which meant we didn’t sleep at all. Think kids screaming, valet carts clanking across tile, elevator dings, and general chaos at all hours. It felt less like a luxury resort and more like trying to nap inside an airport. After two nights of this, we asked to move and the staff was understanding and quickly relocated us to a much quieter room. Major improvement. Fair warning, though, this is not a quiet resort, especially during peak season. There are a lot of kids. There are a lot of doors slamming. Even in the quieter areas, peace and silence are not guaranteed. The overall crowd was pleasant and not your typical trashy cruise ship energy, except when it comes to pool chairs. The towel reserving situation is next level. The resort has a 45 minute policy for unattended towels, but enforcement is hit or miss. Multiple days there were zero chairs available anywhere, yet plenty sat empty for hours with their unworn hats and unread books. The property does have two beaches, one on each side of the hotel, which is a big win. The reefs were plentiful, although clearly struggling, and we saw tons of sea life snorkeling right off the beach. We watched paddle boarders repeatedly ask where the fish were, which makes sense because from a paddle board you see… water. If your goal is sea life, paddle boarding is not it. The hotel also recommends a kayak trip where they take you out to swim with turtles and fish. Funny enough, we were snorkeling in the exact same spot on our own and saw just as much. If you are a decent swimmer with basic snorkel gear, skip the kayaks and save your money. You will likely see more and spend less. Beach chairs are technically included with the resort amenities fee, but once again, only if you are up at the crack of dawn. People line up early, grab chairs, and then disappear for the day. If you are not an early riser, adjust expectations accordingly or prepare to wage psychological warfare over a chair. The on site restaurants were very good and very expensive, which will surprise absolutely no one. We often walked next door to the Shops at Wailea and used the Island Market, which was convenient, had great options, and did not require taking out a loan for lunch. The rooms themselves were very nice. We had a king bed, a pullout couch for the kids, and a garden view. If you have two bigger kids, the pullout couch is tight and may test family bonds. There is a beachside path that sounds great for running until you realize it is packed with walkers and casual joggers. Serious runners may want to find another route unless zigzagging is part of your training plan. Bottom line, beautiful property, amazing snorkeling, excellent staff, and a lively atmosphere. Expect noise, kids, towel hoarding, and chair drama. Manage expectations, lean into the chaos, and you will probably have a fantastic stay.
We had a great time at this beautiful resort. Even though the weather didnt cooperate with us, we still had a great time. There was plenty to do during the rain. The gym was well equipped and clean.
My wife and I stayed there for our anniversary at the beginning of this month, great resort with lots of amenities! Only complaint is the parking garage, the spots are very narrow and most people park on or over the lines, wouldn't be a big deal if you didn't have to pay for daily parking as some days there wasn't a viable space open to park. Terrence at the front desk helped us out a ton, great guy & very friendly! Valet Charlie was so welcoming to us when we first arrived! Ed at the concierge was extremely helpful and gave us his own list of restaurants & places to check out off resort. Olakino was a great experience & well worth the price, Gerle & Kalvin were AMAZING, the girl with the dream catcher tattoo, Krysta, however forgot 3 of our drinks that we had to ask about some time later & seemed to want my wife to pour her own drink & box up leftovers herself which, for $1200 cabana, seems a little lacking on the hospitality. Highly recommend staying at this resort for a wonderful getaway. Beautiful views included.
This hotel has an amazing location and views!! Infinity pool is just stunning! They have several pools, spots for towels! Everything looks impeccable! It’s so big that you don’t even have to share spaces with a lot of people! The beach is so good, you have access to the path around the rest of the hotels spectacular for exercise, walks and amazing pictures. They do have fees around $50 daily so if that is inconvenient for you knowing that you gonna receive that amount at the end of the staying can help you. We went for dinner to “Duo” for seasons and they provided the transportation! That dinner experience was amazing just in case you need a recommendation!
Went here for their luau this past Thursday. What an experience! The service was excellent, the food was as well and the bartenders at the open bar were friendly and engaging. Save your money to enjoy this experience!
Our stay at the Marriott Wailea in Maui was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were treated with warmth, professionalism, and genuine aloha spirit. The view from the resort is absolutely breathtaking. Every morning felt like waking up in a postcard. The entire atmosphere exudes peace and serenity, making it the perfect escape for anyone looking to unwind and recharge. One of the sweetest touches during our stay was the free ice cream by the pool, a thoughtful and fun surprise that made our afternoons extra special. A special shoutout to Jill, who truly went above and beyond. She was attentive, kind, and made sure every detail of our stay was seamless. It’s rare to come across someone so dedicated to hospitality, and she made a lasting impression on our family. The staff as a whole were incredibly respectful and responsive, addressing all our questions and concerns with care and kindness. And for our son, one of the highlights was getting to feed the koi fish in the front pond, a small moment that added so much joy to his trip and ours. We can’t wait to return. Thank you, Marriott Wailea, for making our vacation unforgettable!
I absolutely love my stay at this Marriot. The room was clean and had a great view. Overall, even though it’s a large resort it’s super easy to get around from one side to another. The view from the hotel lobby is amazing. The private spa pool (olakino) experience was so worth it! Highly recommend spending a day there, you get lots of extra goodies like snacks throughout the day. I loved how the property was located on the beach walk. The cabanas and pool service were also great. The mall is right across the street. The concierge was helpful in helping me book a sailing excursion. The property has great shops as well as convenience stores. I’d say the only down falls were the dining options (nothing high end) but the room service was delicous! And the spa experience I had was not worth it in my my experience- the olakino pool was a much better vibe and value.
Wonderful location, wonderful service and almost wonderful rooms! The location of this resort is pretty unbeatable with straight oceanfront views of Lanai, Molokini etc. It is mentioned that in winter you can even see the whales straight from the coast of the resort (something I cannot attest to as I went in the summer). We LOVED the views and the resort amenities - some a little expensive but all worth it for the convenience. The service is great too - the wait staff at pools and restaurants is absolutely great and the front desk is also super nice - usually giving out chocolates each day! A few of our smaller concerns went unanswered but overall no complaints as the staff was forever willing to help and smiling. The concierge team was especially great and helped us book some truly memorable experiences! The rooms are spacious and have nice views - we had a king room with a partial ocean and partial garden view. The one con here is that these (non-suite level) rooms have smaller bathrooms, with large shower areas but tiny space outside them for the toilet area - something amply made up for in the extra room space and balconies but just thought I’d mention since we noticed this.
I had a great time staying here. In close proximity of many great beaches. Amazing wildlife all around including exotic birds, coral reefs, and sea turtles right along the beach, steps from your hotel room. There are many bars, restaurants, and The Shops at Wailea are right across the street for luxury shopping. This is probably one of the best areas to stay on Maui. Close by is South Maui Gardens where there are many fantastic local food vendors.
If I am being honest, Marriott Wailea Beach Resort is absolutely stunning. The location is unbeatable, right next to the beach. You can step out of the hotel and immediately relax on the sand or go snorkeling and see turtles straightaway. Staff were friendly and helpful, both at the front desk and in the restaurant. The only slight downside was the amount of sand near the hotel back entrance from the beach area. But overall, it was a wonderful stay.
Really amazing stay celebrating my friend’s birthday. Christian, the food and beverage manager, went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of!!! The service was fantastic, the rooms were clean, and the view was unreal. Also, want to shout out Shay and Briana for amazing service at the pools. Highly recommend!!
Amazing resort! We splurged on this place for 3 nights and I have zero regrets. The staff, service, pools are all incredible and everything is kept so pristine. I very highly recommend this resort.
Such a great property. Really modern, great facilities, a spectacular infinity pool, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, interesting cultural activities, and stunning views over Maui and surrounding islands Location is good. Not directly on a beach, but short walking distance to beach either side. And close to the Waimea shopping area (with a few cafes, restaurants and great grocery store) Booked 5 nights at a great Bonvoy redemption (recommend as cash prices are very high here). The resort fee and daily parking fees are quite high, but that’s the norm with these resorts today
Wow this place is amazing! Beautiful views, great property, great service. Whats even cool about the location is you are between two beaches - you can walk to either one which it makes it fun to check out different spots. Location is perfect. I also want to recognize Mary. She made the trip so memorable for us and answered all our questions. Def will be back.
Had a great time here, onnsite food was terrific. Views incredible. Local snorkeling. But most of all the staff was welcoming and engaging Frank Frank is my hero!
A Beautiful Stay at the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort This hotel is absolutely gorgeous—from the rooms to the views, pools, and everything in between. The property is stunning, and every detail feels thoughtfully designed. Our room was very clean, clearly updated, and incredibly comfortable. The beds were especially noteworthy—so cozy and supportive, which can sometimes be hit-or-miss at other hotels. The staff was wonderful and accommodating in every interaction. They were friendly, professional, and always ready to help, which made the experience even more enjoyable. One area for improvement would be the hours of the on-site restaurants and bars. Most options seemed to close earlier than expected, leaving room service as the only late-night option. That said, the food and drinks were both delicious and well-prepared. Another concern was the parking situation. I wish parking were either included in the resort fee or at least offered at a lower rate. It feels a bit unfair, especially since there aren’t many alternative transportation options in the area. Additionally, the parking spaces themselves were extremely tight—it was almost impossible to comfortably get in or out of the car once parked. Pricing overall was on the higher end. While I understand that’s to be expected in Maui, some costs felt a bit steeper than anticipated. Still, despite a few minor drawbacks, I would absolutely return to this resort and wouldn’t hesitate to bring family or friends for an even longer stay. It was a wonderful experience, and I’m already looking forward to the next visit!
Our trip was nothing short of amazing! The only thing is it wasn’t long enough. The views, the cleanliness, all the different pools, and the staff were especially amazing. Everyone was so kind and hospitable but two that stood out the most were Heather, the lifeguard at the slides, and Anna, the waitress at Humble Market Kitchin. They both were extremely kind and went above and beyond at making sure our stay was better than it already had been!! 10/10 would stay here again
Staff is amazing and so kind. Really care to get to know all the guests, amenities are amazing, with my groups personal favourite the serenity pool which is a perfect mix of calming, beautiful and friendly.
My wife and I stayed at the Wailea Beach Resort throughout our entire honeymoon in Maui, and we can't wait to come back and stay here again during our next visit. The entire experience of the hotel is so well thought out, from the hotel check-in being open air and having stunning ocean views, pictures don't do it justice. The hotel offers so many cool activities, such as lei making, ukulele lessons, snorkeling, and daily movies in the movie theatre. The staff are all very accommodating to every request we had, as well as informative in case you needed any sort of recommendations on things to do around the island. The Wailea Beach Resort property as a whole is very expansive, so you never feel crowded or like people are on top of you, since there is so much room to spread out. The walking path is also very convenient for sightseeing, exercise, or just taking pictures of the beautiful sunsets in Maui. We attended the Luau, which was also tremendous. They provide you with a variety of local food options served family style, and the drinks are also out of this world. Since it was our honeymoon, it was very special that they called out those in attendance celebrating a honeymoon or wedding anniversary, so you could dance to a slow song with your significant other. Overall, I cannot recommend the Wailea Beach Resort enough, and we can't wait for the day we get to come back.
Judy at the front desk deserves her own five-star rating separate from the hotel. She didn’t just check us in; she basically became our vacation fairy godmother. My girlfriend mentioned champagne, and Judy somehow caught that I wasn’t a fan. Instead of the usual bubbly, we walked into our room to find cold beer and nuts waiting. That’s not customer service; that’s Jedi-level listening skills. On top of that, Judy gave us the best Road to Hana tips. Thanks to her, we did the full loop (yes, that loop, locals know what I mean) and lived to tell the tale. If you’re planning to do it, ask her first unless you enjoy being lost and mildly terrified. She’s sweet, sharp, and clearly a step ahead of the rest of us. Marriott, if you’re reading this; please don’t let another resort steal her.
It was great experience here. They welcomed with POG and a lie. Lot of activities to do here. Water slides, infinity pool, beach walks so on.. they also give complimentary bike rentals to wander around in that area. Their complimentary breakfast was also great with lot of varieties
Absolutely beautiful! Pools were amazing along with service. Room was nice but need an update soon. Amazing and highly recommended but if you go be prepared to pay.
Rooms were spectacular breakfast buffet was good (ask for Tim) pools were nice and warm. Dj on weekends. Beach wasn’t to bad you can snorkel boogie board or swim. Outdoor lobby was comfortable and not far from on property shops or the mall. I highly recommend this resort
Staying at Wailea Beach Resort was the perfect way to unwind after the beautiful whirlwind of our wedding. I was so relieved when we arrived and were wrapped in the comfort of Hawaii. The resort felt like our own little slice of aloha—peaceful, luxurious, and exactly what we needed to relax and soak everything in. The atmosphere was serene, the views were stunning, and the whole vibe of the resort just radiated calm. One of our favorite memories? Sipping piña coladas (with a rum float on top—highly recommend!) by the adult infinity pool. It was the perfect touch of paradise and exactly what we needed to slow down and take it all in. From the friendly staff to the beautiful grounds, everything about our stay was top-notch. Side note: We did the luau as well and it's worth doing if you've never done it before! They'll serve you dinner and you get to watch the dancers with a fire dance routine at the end! If you’re looking for somewhere to reset, recharge, and be surrounded by the spirit of aloha, this is the place. Mahalo to everyone at Wailea Beach Resort for giving us the perfect start to our next chapter! <3
We stayed at the Wailea Beach Resort December 3rd - December 17 for our anniversary in an oceanfront room (perfect views!). The staff was incredible, and the infinity pool was a highlight. We enjoyed the food and the excellent service very much. This was our 4th stay at this resort and it only gets better. We did room service several times during our two week stay. Our room service person, Lane (SP) was utterly amazing and fun!! She did a great job setting up the meal and was so fun and energetic to be around!! You will pay resort prices here but it is all worth it!! A great spot for a special occasion
Our recent stay (Dec. 13-17), was remarkable. From check-in through checkout! The staff were welcoming and most importantly, thoroughly customer service focused. The staff were always smiling and asking if there was anything else they could do. Rooms were cleaned in a timely basis and location can’t be beat in Wailea. Resort amenities were fantastic and plenty of pools to choose from. We would most definitely stay there again. Special shout out to all management staff, including a does I’m thanks to Ves, Adrian, and Arman they were awesome. Thanks again, Norm Halabi
Wailea Beach Resort was truly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. From arrival to departure, the staff was incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming they genuinely embodied Hawaiian values and made us feel so cared for the entire stay. The resort clearly supports local culture, which made the experience feel authentic and special. The views are absolutely breathtaking, the pools are amazing, and the resort strikes the perfect balance between family-friendly fun and relaxation with separate adults-only pools. For everything you get, the value is outstanding. An unforgettable stay, and I can’t wait to come back!
The Wailea Beach Resort is the only destination that my wife and I return to every year. The location is perfect with terrific amenities, a fabulous layout and staff that always treat us with Aloha and care. Great views, one of our favorite beach walks anywhere, beautiful sunsets, lovely pools, great food, beach yoga in the morning...it feels just like you picture Hawaii will be and the staff always put that extra effort in to ensure that we are delighted every stay. Thank you WBR for another wonderful time with you.
This is my absolute favorite place to stay! I just wanted to give a shot out to the Valet/Bellmen, I don’t think they get enough credit! From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. We got there early, and the staff immediately helped us unload our suitcases and stored them for us without hesitation. As soon as our room was ready, are bags were brought to the room, he offered to get us ice and asked if there was anything else we needed. Every time we saw him for the next 8 days of our stay addressed us by name and asked how our stay was going. We were leaving for the beach, while waiting for our car, showed up with towels for us to take. The resort itself is absolutely stunning. The grounds are immaculate, beautifully maintained, and truly give you that luxury island feel. Everywhere we went, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and always willing to help. We can’t wait to come back!
Our flight was late arriving but we were greeted so warmly by the staff at the front desk and treated to "pog" our first taste of the resort and what awaited us. The quality of service at every level was beyond all expectation. Every member of the staff that we interacted with went above and beyond to give us the best experience possible. The sprawling grounds really makes you feel like you're in a resort rather than a hotel, as you wander around and explore every corner. There's always something interesting to see. The kids loved the pools even though our younger one was just a hair too short for the big water slides. They also enjoyed feeding the koi fish! The highlight for them was definitely the pool and the poolside food. Just being able to go from eating lunch to jumping into the pool and back was such a departure to their usual routine. Special shoutout to the beach chair/umbrella guy, he was "THE GUY". We didn't realize we had to book the chairs ahead of time at the beach desk but he was able to book us in on his phone and was very understanding and accommodating. Fully embodying the spirit of Aloha. He just beamed with hospitality. I had also forgotten my hoodie in our room and thought it would be lost forever. I made a missing items report the day we left and in less than a week I found that it had been Fedexed back to me! Thank you so much for a wonderful vacation. We will definitely return and probably bring more of our family to experience this wonderful resort.
Just returned home today from Maui. The WBR exceeded all expectations. The location, the room, the food, the staff and property overall were incredible - from our arrival through departure. The team there has our compliments and appreciation for a wonderful visit. We will return someday soon.
Simply one if my favorite mariotts in Hawaii and staff and location are 5 star. You pay for that and rooms, though very nice truly a very small detraction... basic mariott and ive stayed in most, if not all section. But its staff and location that command the attention
We stayed here on a bit of a flyer as I call it as the Plantation golf course closed for two months and we moved our reservation here from the Kaanapali Westin on relatively short notice (4-6 weeks out). We absolutely loved it here. The staff were amazing top to bottom from the front desk to the room cleaning staff to pool bars to the pool wait staff and all in between. Additionally, the views and rooms were amazing. We almost never upgrade our room as we're not at the room much but here, it was well worth it. Additionally, Myriam Tehina was so extremely helpful in allowing us to move a reservation due to a death in the family and documenting it all in our account profile in their computers to simplify our check in upon arrival. We will absolutely be coming back here due to the great amenities and staff friendliness. Kudos to the team and to Myriam!
I stayed for a business conference and I was quite impressed with everything. The front desk staff are absolutely amazing, providing local chocolates and a special gift for me to take home to the kids. The conference provided breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday and not once was I disappointed with the quality of the food. Everything really was top notch, plus the sunset views can't be beat.
I stayed here for my honeymoon and it was great! I was platinum elite so I used my suite nights and was upgraded to a beachfront room. It was breathtaking! I mean I literally was right there on the ocean. It was the best view. The room was ok. It was slightly above average so if you’re looking for a luxury room don’t look here. Parking was very expensive. The adults only pool was amazing and I loved that there was a path you could walk right from the hotel. Overall I would recommend this hotel. Idk if my review would have been so high had I not been upgraded.
Excellent stay. The staff went above and beyond with their customer service. Everyone was so helpful and kind. The resort itself is absolutely beautiful, clean and the amenities were excellent. Cannot wait to come back. Special shoutout to Arman, Ves, and Adrian at the front desk. They were outstanding!
I’m completely blown away!!! We had the absolute best vacation and it’s thanks to Adrian and Frank! My moms and sons dream was always to come to Hawaii and they made their experience the best time. From the customer service, constant communication, accommodations, etc. they went above and beyond to make sure the needs of my family were met. We will always remember this vacation. It’s very family oriented with a kids arcade, children’s pool, movie room etc. my son didn’t want to leave. Also the resort itself is so nice and peaceful it’s truly a dream and the views look like a postcard. I will def return.
Just completed 5 nights at the property in Hale 2 garden with partial ocean view. From front desk to pool staff, all were incredibly friendly and helpful. There is an attention to detail that you notice right away. Between location, proximity to shopping center and two amazing beaches, it is hard to beat.
Guy was our waiter every time we were at the adults only pool. He was hilarious, kind, respectful, and extremely attentive. He genuinely made our entire stay worth it. We will be back literally just to see him. We cannot express our gratitude for him enough. He made us feel like VIP!! We 🫶🏼 Guy!!! On another note… we were her for a wedding and Brandon the bartender worked the wedding and the luau we booked and was so awesome. So many local recommendations, remembered us, and made the. Best. Drinks. Ever. If you’re lucky enough o see him, ask him as many questions as you can!! So much fun!!!
Room was nice other than seeing dead bugs in the light in show and one light. Flickering in the bathroom had to unplug , the thing that really bothered us was people in next rooms where making lots of noise and not being able to sleep, 5am for hours , complaining to Ana the security , at 8am she gave number to call them next time it happens? Ask are going talk to the people next to us ? Nope it’s pass 700am she said , I paid 16k for this trip , to help my wife dealing with dad passed way , we normally come here. I think next time stay at the grand wailea, where we got married. By the way we were in 4412. And there baby hitting are window in the afternoon was BS this not a 5 star team, Ana needs step down as leader of security team.
I really liked staying here, they have a great location for the private beach, the rooms were okay, for the price i was honestly expecting more. The pools are beautiful and the views are amazing. The resort fee is insane after paying so much money i have to say the resort fee is just ridiculous. The service is good, front desk is very welcoming. I came here for my honey moon and i had put a special request like if they can do something in my room , something simple since i saw they did it for someone that stayed i just wanted to surprise my wife but unfortunately when i got to the room they didn’t do anything, i even called they day i booked and they told me not to worry. Thats really all i can say other than that it was nice.
Open-air lobby. Valet or self parking (garage spaces are very tight). Walking distance to area shopping. Large well-kept property. Check-in 4pm and not a minute before. Actually, our suite was not available until closer to 5pm! Although they provide a welcome area lounge to freshen up before the room is ready, it's still unsettling not to be settled in a room until so late in the day. Oceanview suite was nice and spacious one and a half bath. The shower was unusually small for a suite. The suite was clean, however SEVERAL of our bath towels were not only stained but literally contained large BLOOD areas - as in the towels didn't even appear to be washed, just folded nicely - GROSS!! Breakfast staff appeared to be completed overwhelmed one morning and were not attentive. Also, not attentive was the front desk Staff in the evening. We called from our suite one evening and the phone was never answered; even called from cell phone - no answer...had to walk down to the front desk to ask the question. Very inconvenient! Breakfast buffet items were quality. The made to order omelets were horrible and lacked any flavor despite all the ingredients added. Overall, its a family hotel.
The balcony view was awesome to wake up too. The resort is huge. Decent fitness center. Good restaurants. Friendly and helpful staff. Knocking off one star because the big slide was closed when we finally made our way out there.
Fairly nice rooms for the expectations but you could hear adjoining rooms very cleary and music from the lobby surprisingly late. Pools were excellent but was obnoxious the prioritization of cabanas you had to reserve and that drink service ended before sunset. Nice location vis a via the beach but beach chair situation was confusing and limited, especially in the morning. Did appreciate that beach chairs were the one thing they didn't charge extra for.
The bed in this hotel is sagging, which caused back pain, and the air conditioner is very noisy. If you have sleep issues, I strongly recommend not staying here. The location is good. At the restaurant entrance, there is an older staff member at the reception desk whose attitude was not very friendly. When we asked to be seated by the window, she gave us an unpleasant look. Other than that, the service was generally good.
Nice location but unfortunately could not get a later checkout than 1pm even being a Titanium Elite Member. Also, beware of a $57/day resort fee and $45/day parking fee; even while using Bonvoy points.
Just got back from our trip to Maui at Wailea Beach Resort. Overall the stay was nice but there were several things that made this hotel absolutely not worth the price. First of all, my husband paid for a “premium” ocean view room. When you look at photos of the room online you know what they don’t show? The bathroom. So I’m here to tell you about it. There is no bathtub, which is disappointing in and of itself. However, what’s worse is that the walk in shower only has half a door. This results in water getting all over the floor and making a mess no matter how careful you are. I have no idea why they would design it this way. The other annoying thing is that the bathroom door is one of those awful sliding barn doors. It’s set up in such a way that the when the bathroom door is closed, the closet is open and vice versa. Any time my husband and I were getting ready to go somewhere we kept nearly hitting each other with the door as one person tried to leave the bathroom while the other was trying to get clothes from the closet. Again… who designed this??? Lastly our room was between the ice machine and a staff utility closet so we periodically heard the machine clanking and cleaning carts coming and going. Overall not really giving “premium”. Service had some good areas and some bad. The welcome gift of POG juice and leis was a nice touch. There was one night where after turning out the lights a little after ten we could hear people talking and laughing loudly from the hallway. We hoped they would eventually stop but after about 30 minutes we called security. They handled the situation really well and I appreciated that. Unfortunately that’s about the extent of the positives. Any time we went down to the adults only infinity pool, it was clear the attendants who came around to get food and drink orders had their regulars and favorites and didn’t really care about anyone else. My husband and I were almost completely ignored. The worst experience came on the last day. When you arrive at the hotel they give you a map and a schedule of activities. There are fitness classes listed on there and all it says on the schedule is that they meet at the fitness center. I’m telling you right now so you don’t end up in my shoes: you need to find the wellness portal on their app/website and book your spot there. I would see the sunrise yoga classes in the mornings and decided I wanted to join them. On the last day of our trip I finally made it. I was one of the first people at the fitness center waiting, had some friendly conversations as others arrived and started getting excited for the class, went to sign in on the sheet the instructor had only for her to stop me and ask if I had reserved a spot. When I told her I had no idea I had to do that, she told me the class was full and I couldn’t join. Mind you this was an outdoor class on the grass overlooking the water, and there were maybe ten people there total. One person would not have made a difference. She made me stand off to the side of all these people I had just been talking with to see if maybe someone wouldn’t show up and I could take their spot. I asked her to show me where I was supposed to book and how I could have known that. On the schedule it has a QR code for you to book things like cabanas or “experiences”, but when you scan it you are taken back to a page where you can access the activities schedule and it isn’t intuitive at all. The instructor then told me her class was actually “overbooked” and I should try again tomorrow. Except I couldn’t because we were leaving that afternoon. I felt humiliated and upset and actually went back to the room and cried. To end things on a positive note, the Luau is absolutely worth doing. All the food is incredible, the performances are amazing, and the emcee does a fantastic job explaining the cultural background of each part of the night. That’s the only thing I would come back for, and you don’t have to be a hotel guest to enjoy it.
As a Marriott Bonvoy member for years, we had the worst Marriott experience at this resort. We paid for a premium luxury room and it was ocean fronting but in a busy area near the elevator. Lots of noise late at night (past midnight) and early morning (5am). We asked to be moved as the hotel wasn’t full. We waited all day and after asking and requesting twice they forgot about us. The hotel room coordinator then said the room wasn’t ready and come back after dinner. We said no and they gave us another room that was a bit quieter but still near an elevator-ugh. In a rush to move my wife left an expensive pair of pants and top in the room. She realized it the next day. We called security and said nothing was found in the room? It was one day! Said they couldn’t go back into the room because of guests. I would have gladly let security look for another guest if the situation was reversed. We left the resort and still no items and they didn’t really seem to care. So unlike a Marriott. Won’t be going back for sure.
I write this review in relation to the expectations that I get from paying the high price they ask to stay here. If the price would be half of what it is, it would be five stars for sure. Paying this premium rate and then walking in to a room where the lamp button falls apart when we go to the bathroom just isn't a great start. Furthermore, the whole place is a labyrinth and the signage is really not helping so much to understand which way is the best to get to different places. It was also very unclear how to get in and out of the parking lot with conflicting information given by different staff members. The adventure pool is pretty cool, but the main pool has these weird filter caps (or something) that sticks up in multiple places in the floor of the pool. I don't know how many times I almost fractured my toes on those things. As a parent of a small child, it makes it really difficult to walk along with your child, not to mention riding the baby water slide that has you landing right onto one of those things. The game room was basically full of malfunctioning retro video games with lacking instructions on how to choose/start the games. I would have preferred as selection of really good games that just work instead of all these buggy multigames. And I believe all the board games in the room are incomplete and thus not possible to play. The view from the room was amazing!
The staff were fantastic, the location is incredible. The rooms (I saw two) were motel-quality. The outdoor chair fabric was filthy, the area rug in the room was old and worn and smelled of mildew. Grout around the floor tile was stained as you would expect from old flooring. The towels were thin and cheap-feeling, the toilet paper was one-ply cheap stuff like you'll find in an airport bathroom (small but telling detail). The tub and shower were old and worn and the grout on the outside of the tub enclosure showed mildew stains. The room smelled of mildew. So disappointed that we spent a special holiday there, don't make the same mistake. The ownership group, Sunstone Hotels, appears to have invested in things that do not improve the visitor experience. The hotel's site says it is fully renovated (see attached screenshot). My review is not the only one calling out these issues.
RUDE help staff with the snobbiest of attitudes. We were trying to reserve a block of rooms for a future wedding. After being treated rudely, we decided to cancel within a few hours due to their bad attitude on other matters. Then they pointed us to the fine print (never mentioned before) that their policy is no refunds. I'm sure they will book the rooms for other guests. What a sham and entitled snobbery at its finest.
The resort view was fantastic — especially from the infinity pool, which was a perfect spot to enjoy the sunset. However, our experience at the front desk was very disappointing. The receptionist (Ves) was extremely rude and spoke in a way that felt unprofessional and unwelcoming. To add to the frustration, the coffee maker in our room wasn’t working. When I called the front desk, they said it would take 30 minutes to fix, but we had to leave before that. On top of that, the bathroom’s standing shower leaked water onto the floor, making it slippery — I nearly slipped multiple times and was lucky not to get hurt. For such a reputed resort, I expected much better service, hospitality, and attention to guest safety.
Very Disappointing and Overpriced Stay We paid a high price for what was meant to be two bedrooms with queen beds, but when we arrived, we were told they only had a room with two double beds instead. They couldn’t give us what we paid for, and check-in took hours. We were told it would take a couple of days to fix, but nothing was ever done. The room we were given had a loud heating and cooling system that made it almost impossible to sleep. When we were checking out, the luggage staff dropped my carry-on suitcase and broke it, then brushed it off saying it would “get damaged anyway.” I made a complaint and called multiple times, but no one ever followed up. When I finally reached someone, they didn’t know who to transfer me to. After six months of chasing, management still refused to reimburse me for my damaged luggage. For what we paid, this resort was completely not worth it — poor service, noisy rooms, and no responsibility from staff or management. Wouldn’t recommend staying here.
I booked a room for $939 for a romantic night for my engagement night with my bride-to-be, but an emergency came up where we needed to rearrange plans. Thus I needed to cancel 3 days after booking, the reservation still weeks away, but they would not refund me because it was outside the 24hr rule. They said they made a note that my reservation is cancelled and I won't be in the room (likely so they can book someone else under it and double-book), but made sure to not issue a refund. Just terrible customer service, no sympathy at all for anything that had happened, and right after Christmas too! I spoke very calmly and politely, but every person I talked to was super grumpy, just rude! I simply couldn't believe it--I was stunned! At one point I began talking even more politely to see if they would match energies, but no, just rudeness! I'm sure the room would be very nice, but if you're going to stay somewhere that's $900/night, go stay at Andaz. The people at Andaz are incredibly helpful and sweet, and is exactly the type of customer service I would expect to receive for $900/night. Andaz makes it worth it, Marriott just gives you a headache and makes you write a 1-star review!
There are no pool chairs at the adults only pool anytime after 7:30am. Set your alarms and wake up early! Better yet, they have black mold growing in the bathroom! I am now sick. Also, an adult female threw up in the adults only pool. Upgrade? Non-existent. I had to pay for an upgrade when it should have been complimentary with my ambassador elite status. There is no longer a welcome mai tai! They took this away from the resort fee even though the resort fee did not go down in price. Oh — there are not any beach chairs available either. We were told that there were 20 parties ahead of us.
