Chillest spot to hang at! Great pizza, good for vegetarians. Also dogs are allowed here!! Bring your pup, enjoy a drink and fab food!
BEST pizza & vibes in the area if you’re looking for a cozy, friendly, casual, family friendly dinner spot. Amazing in the summer — there’s a lovely outdoor patio. But even lovelier in the winter when you’re craving A+ pizza (or wings, pasta, etc.), even better fireside. This our standby / go-to!!
Upon walking through the door it’s like transporting back to a simpler time, but with some great food. It’s a neighborhood joint that has a menu that you’d find in a trendy neighborhood in the city. I chose a burger with a heaping side of some of the best fries I’ve had in ages. The burger was delicious too! The price is on point with the quality of food they offer. The pizzas looked delicious as well. The staff was on point and nice. Look forward to going again.
Top Tier! This awesome spot is only 5 min away which is great. It’s like a taste of summer meets your favorite bar in Williamsburg. Great food, great drinks (frozen drinks) awesome outdoor and indoor seating area and a pool table! One of my favorite spots in Dutchess County hands down. Erika & Minh are exceptionally fantastic, glad to be a neighbor!
My partner and I come here regularly and they are very accommodating of her gluten intolerance. We like their gluten free pasta and chicken wings. The pizza is also fantastic but not gluten free. The staff is very knowledgeable about cross contamination.
I will give 5 stars because I don’t like bringing peoples scores down when intentions are good. If they worked on this pizza dough and temperature of oven this could be the best pizza in the area. They have all the fresh ingredients going but then the dough Is doughy and floppy, burnt but yet undercooked Imagine if the bottom of the crust was crunchy. Play with that recipe and temperature a little and this pizza will amaze.
Tasty pizza and festive atmosphere! We came with a big group (10 adults, 7 kids) and were able to spread out at the picnic tables with plenty of space. The backyard is fenced in, so we felt safe letting the kids roam nearby without worrying about them running into a busy street. Plus, very good food!
I experienced wonderful moments at this place over the course of a month. I used to come to this establishment in the evening to relax after a demanding day spent at the art residency. Amazing people, fantastic food, excellent beer. I hope to return there someday and reconnect with the 'old' friends. Wishing Lantern lots of relaxed evenings. Paul from Czech republic ;-*
Love this place! They make excellent wood fired pizzas but best of all, for my wife they make their own gluten free pasta. It is home made fresh when you order. The owner is super nice and very engaging. The inside bar/dining area is now open which is great. They have a lovely outdoor area with a fire pit and music. We plan on hitting the Latern weekly! Definitely worth checking out.
An amazing establishment with great food, great people and an authentic New York vibe. There is a bouncy house for the kids to play on, and beautiful outdoor and indoor seating where people can socialize. Craft drinks, pool, and antiques galore make this place a great stop in the Hudson Valley.
Had a great meal at The Lantern! We were seven people, ordered almost all of the pizzas, a salad, and a burger as well as numerous drinks from the bar. We particularly liked the carbonara pizza and good local beers on draft. Excited to come back and hang out in the back yard area with the picnic tables and fire. Pizzas are around $15. Some say this is pricey, but it's hard to find good casual food in the area. Lots of the fine dining restaurants (and some more mediocre ones) charge $15 for an entree and $30 for a main so I'd say this is a pretty good deal for the very high quality!
Good flavor but small and became quickly soggy! Even after reheating in the oven..
Great food, friendly staff, and it’s hard to get bored when the menu changes weekly. However, lately The Lantern feels like a Chuck E. Cheese. And despite how delicious the food may be, it’s hard not to get indigestion with kids running rampantly and screaming at the top of their lungs without any parental supervision. I don’t blame the staff and it’s clear that the place is a family establishment, but at times the chaos is intolerable for a restaurant. Unfortunately the Lantern is becoming a place to be enjoyed only in the summer when the outdoor space is open.
Nice outdoor dining area. Friendly staff. The pizzas vary by which one. The meat based pizzas are excellent. I had the rattlesnake pizza and it was awesome. The vegetarian pizzas need some additional toppings such as garlic, olives and onions to raise up the flavor profiles. The wine selection is good. Currently all the dining is outside or takeout. Well worth a visit.
Stars are for the pizza and outside area only. I am not trying to bash a local place but about $50 on 2 club sodas, a small pizza, small beet side, and a hot dog I am going to give my opinion spending my hard earned money on a not so great experience. It was our first time there, walked into employees clustered at the bar area, no greeting or smiles. Confused on the layout and how things worked. Go to food area, and discover we get our own food and have to go to the bar for our own drinks. I stand at the bar with my number in hand to pay cash with 2 bartenders ignoring me until I state I want to pay. We sit at our table and the woman at the food area brings our stuff out with no plates, utensils, napkins, I’m in and out the entire time feeling like I was at work after getting off my shift and wanting to have a relaxing night with my family. The entire tipping situation at this place is extremely tacky when the customer is responsible for moving around to get their own stuff and buss their own table. I have been a server and bartender for over 10 years, small personable touches need to be made especially with a self- serve place where customers are doing most of the work. Everyone looks entitled and like they don’t want to be there. Employees had time to lean, they could at least buss tables to give customers a break. Tacky and arrogant vibe. A shame because this place is beautiful and not being used to its full potential! The pizza was delicious but we left still hungry and just annoyed about the entire experience.
I don’t leave many reviews on Google, but in this case I just had to. I have read the owner’s below rebuttal on a prior review regarding their 20% service charge. I could challenge it line by line, but suffice it to say I don’t agree with it, and his explanation doesn’t cut it. And, why is this fee only added to bills over $50? Does that make it ok to charge some people this and not others? How about a 10% service fee for everyone- isn’t this at least more fair? I will say that the owners statement about the business operating at a loss seems absurd to me; I’m not a business professional, but if a business doesn’t make money after a few years, how can it survive? It would be easier to stomach if the food was a good value, but it’s simply not. Keep in mind that value doesn’t equal cheap; it means getting your money’s worth. They kind of fail here too. $11 dollars for a small (75 cent tops) bag of Cape Cod chips and some French Onion dip. Are you freaking kidding me? This is just plain absurd. Pizza is decent, no better; at over $20 bucks for a small pie, it better be. Fries were I think $8 bucks; nothing special but at least it was a big serving. Last but not least, the wings; $12 bucks for 6; most places are no more than $13 bucks for a dozen. Again, nothing special. Credit where credit is due: the staff was very friendly this time, but prior times if felt like they were doing us a favor. Judging by the vehicles driven and clothing worn by most of their clientele here, most aren’t hard up for a buck or two, so they probably don’t seem to care about these prices or policies. They have ridiculous descriptions for their (expensive) pastas that only a foodie would understand, so it’s obvious who they are catering to. For this hard working guy, never again.
They'll charge a 20% gratuity for orders over $50, but you need to order at the counter and clean up your own table. Burger and fries was $20 and wasn't that special.
