Amaaaazing spot. The food is absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere is truly iconic. Highly recommend this spot, but be diligent and reserve a table ahead of time!! It's popular for a very VERRRRRY good reason!
Great brunch! I was there with a large party, and the service was excellent. I got the scramble, delicious! The friend chicken and waffles were also very good. Don’t miss the beignets either! Amazing southern classics
10/10. Love the vibe. Food was incredible. And the size of the tapas were large. Drinks were out standing. Loved the decor. I can't wait to return. Recommend making a reservation in advance. Free parking garage as well!
Guys night out. Ali our server was amazing her service and attention to our table was amazing. Rick the manager was very polite and professional. If you haven't experienced Jason Santos food your missing out.
Loved the atmosphere—super trendy and well-designed space! Ordered the Honey Glazed biscuits to start and they were insanely good—some of the best. The Wagyu sliders were great—juicy and flavorful. The Beignets, though, were a miss. Burned and greasy. Would skip those next time. Still worth going for the vibe and those biscuits alone!
Absolutely loved Buttermilk and Bourbon and will be back! The set up is gorgeous with the indoor/outdoor feel and genuinely reminds me of New Orleans. The menu is a great size and not overwhelming, with plenty of great options. The food was delicious. 10/10 on everything we ate. Like Southern tapas, which I didn’t know I needed till now. The drinks were also amazing! Only downside of our night was slow service, but that seemed to be out watron specifically, and not everyone’s experience. Over all, the food made up for any hitch and we found a new favorite spot.
Ah, this one's a favorite! My partner and I tried the one in Boston, and were so pleased with it that we decided to stop by at this branch. Amazing cocktails like always! Took the elixir (bourbon, ginger bear, lemon, honey cayenne and torched rosemary) and the moonflower (gin, St. germain, orange Curacao, herbsaint, butterfly tea, and lime) and enjoyed 'em both! (Though liked moonflower slightly better - since it felt like the perfect drink for a spring evening). Decor was Gothic and uber cool. Our bartender was also super sweet and warm!
Celebrated New Year's Eve at Buttermilk & Bourbon and it was a fantastic experience! We decided to dine in and stick around for the countdown. The restaurant's design and festive decorations added a special touch to the evening. It seems they had a New Year's Eve special going on, offering extra buttery bread to all customers, with the bonus of it being refillable – a delicious treat! The staff were exceptionally friendly and accommodating. When I expressed a preference for something off their regular menu instead of the special New Year's drink list, one of the staff members kindly went to check in the kitchen for me. The food lived up to the expectations, rounding off a great night. Definitely looking forward to returning on a regular weekend to relive the great vibes and cuisine.
So so good! We sat outside on the patio and it was so enjoyable. Our waitress was so attentive and answered all the questions we had. The food was delicious. We split 5 tapas between 4 people and it was more than enough for us. Get the biscuits, hands down the best item on the menu. Drinks were SO yummy also. Can't wait to go back!
This place is amazing!!! A upscale but laid back New Orleans x tapas that will tantalize your taste buds… from the great service to the amazing atmosphere this is a must!!! The food is I point best biscuits in the north, fresh jumbo shrimp always a blast, authentic tastes with their chicken and grits, or even get a little wild with their gator toast. They have something for every from both breakfast items and lunch and dinner. Unwind with some of the best bourbon cocktails out there while enjoying the vibe. I personally enjoyed the throw back hip hop music in the back ground as it made for. A fun afternoon with the wife.
This was our first time in Boston and we went to Buttermilk & Bourbon for lunch and the food was amazing. The honey glazed biscuits were the best! They were fluffy and so soft. We also got the crab cake and chicken and waffles and everything came out so good. You can tell the food was freshly made and the quality was there. Our server’s name was Coral and she was very friendly and attentive. She was very professional. The restaurant was very nice. I loved the decor and feel of it. I love southern food and I am so glad we found this place. We definitely can’t wait to visit again!
We have been to this location a couple of times and love it! You must try the biscuits, mac & cheese, and a hot cocoa. The cocktails are delightful (especially the smoked options). Jazmin was our server tonight and she did an excellent job.
This was the second time we went to Buttermilk and it didn't disappoint. The location in Watertown has a nice outdoor patio area and has very easy parking available. Food was fantastic! We ordered quite a few things on the menu since everything was tapas style. We enjoyed everything we ordered, but things we would order again if we return are the fried chicken and the Mac and cheese. The fried chicken is especially good and we can't really get that anywhere else!
I visited this restaurant on a Sunday evening with my family. I ordered the Mac & Cheese with Brisket and the BBQ Shrimp. I LOVED THE BBQ Shrimp it was amazing so much flavor and it served over grits which were perfect texture. I did not love the Mac and Cheese with Brisket so much it could use some more flavor, I only tasted the cheese which was great because it was a Gouda mix. Overall I enjoyed the restaurant and can’t wait to visit again!!!
Perfect spot for weekend brunch with the girlies! We ordered a ton of things over the course of two hours and our waiter was kind, attentive to our dietary needs, and was so helpful. The food was absolutely incredible and the drinks were really delicious and funky. Our favorites were the chicken sliders, BBQ Shrimp, and Dirty South Fries. Ending the meal with beignets was the cherry on top of a great meal! Bonus was the decor during October was so fun and seasonal. Thanks for a great time. We’ll be back!
Tapas are great for a date and eating some wonderful food. No exception here. I kind of wanted to come in since I love hells kitchen. That said I would have loved it no matter what. The fried chicken with the white BBQ sauce was different and delicious. The mushroom toast was crunchy, savory, and a hint sweet. So good!!! O and make sure to finish with beignets for a perfect night!
The chicken tights and the biscuits were great. The mac and chesse was tasty as well. The ribs were okay. The nachos need more beef. I will say for the chicken avoid ordering the spicy at least the first time, it is pretty spicy
The food was so good. Really flavorful and came out so fast. Lots of items to choose from - I had a bunch of different things and they all were 10/10. Our waitress, Jazmin, was terrific.
Super delicious food and lovely ambiance! We got the biscuits (so yummy! Very buttery, with a honey glazed top, and served with a brown butter spread and a pimento cheese spread), fried chicken (perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, I was a huge fan), and ribs (tender and tasty, they came on a bed of mashed potatoes). Very happy with the food as well as the fun and relaxing vibe. There’s a fun indoor area as well as a pleasant outdoor area with couches and fairy lights, looking out over Arsenal yards mall.
I was not expecting much from a restaurant located in the middle of a giant mall, but boy did it deliver! The atmosphere is lively and the decor is very well thought out and definitely conveys the atmosphere of New Orleans in it's style. We came as a group of five and although the table was pretty small, the server was very attentive. Although they stated clearly that plates are small/medium as they are made to share, honestly most of them would easily work for me as a customer if I was there on my own. Here's the quick glimpse on our dishes: - Fried chicken - moist, tender, crispy - very good! - Shrimp & Grits - the highligh of the night, it was SOOOO good. Really good seasoning, texture of grits, and served on a hot plate. Yum! - Crab cake was a divider of our group with one person stated it is overpowered by truffle, for me it's still a very good, elevated crab cake. - Burrata with peaches was a summer delight - fresh and perfect mix of sour, cheesy and sweet - Corn was a favorite of some and a play on southern streetfood, It was ok, but way too salty for me Overall it was a great experience and 5 dishes for 5 people was just enough and with all that great food on the table the check was less than $100, which was super nice.
Th atmosphere at this restaurant was exciting! Loved the New Orleans feel. We ordered a lot of food. Including dessert..but we devoured the desserts before I could get pics. I honestly don’t think you can go wrong with any of the items on the menu. I didn’t feel rushed. Great location. There is an entire parking garage literally next door that’s free. I attached pics of what we had. I don’t remember the name of one of the items. Just try!
Was a great time went in a Tuesday night during a sampler event was everything we expected and more if you’re looking for a great place to join friends and have a good time definitely try this place out you won’t be disappointed
First time on this place and we had a great experience, food was excellent and the service was fantastic . Our server Jasmine was very polite showing us the menu , best service ever . Thank you!
The viet cajun ribs are awesome although only 4. The mussels are good too. For a european stomach or lady watching her figure, one dish is enough. 3 dishes for two, we were stuffed. Not maybe dessert options. I would really not recommend the sacotash blackened catfish. The fish was a tad bit dry but good but the sacotash soupy thing texture and acrid taste made me of vomit. Atmosphere is somewhat romantic, bar seems fancy and parking is easy is upstairs free garage.
I love the fact that the portion is not huge so I can try more food, and it's GREAT food. The restaurant was busy on a Saturday night near the holiday, but the service was excellent! I particularly enjoyed the pork belly and the octopus. Their signature biscuits were fantastic that I bought another to go.
Came here the first night in Boston with my family, and was blown away by the high quality of the food! The biscuits were soft, fluffy, and crispy on the outside. The ribs fell off the bone, and the nachos were a burst of flavor for my tastebuds. We ended up coming again the next night to sample other selections from the menu. Definitely would recommend for anyone visiting Boston.
The food was delicious! Wow 😮. The service was amazing, Mimi helped us, she was very friendly and knowledgeable✅, and the atmosphere is amazing, great experience! 😀 🥘
I recently started gong to the Thursday Trivia nights. My friends and I are loving it! Everyone working there - Leah, Mimi, Jazzmine and Carolina - is welcoming and they always check in to see if we are enjoying the food, drinks and having a good time.
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, but what really made my visit special was the outstanding service. Our server, Jazmin, was exceptional—friendly, attentive, and very professional. She made sure everything was perfect from start to finish, and her positive attitude made the evening even more enjoyable.
We loved the food! The biscuits were incredible and the Cajun style food was superb. Our server Gilly was great too! Food came out quickly and the mocktails were great.
Delicious food, super service and a great atmosphere. Fun but not too loud, attentive wait staff. Favorite two dishes were Cajun catfish and the Brie!
Overall nice restaurant. Attended a banquet here with access to the bar while other people were able to come eat without it being too crowded. Food is delicious. Free parking near also.
We keep coming back because every plate is amazing. In our most recent visit we had the apple French toast which was one of the best I've had. No syrup needed with the perfect caramel custard that came with it. The benedict was cooked perfectly and while they didn't have brisket that particular day, the chicken was moised and perfectly seasoned to go with the cornbread bun, hollandaise sauce and egg. Our server was super attentive and was happy to accommodate our rush since we had an appointment shortly after. The vibe is unique for Boston and we'll definitely be back.
Ali was our amazing server.. She walked us through the menu and explained exactly how to order, which made the whole experience so easy and enjoyable. She gave thoughtful recommendations and explained why she loved each item, even down to the ingredients. You could tell she cared about us and knew the menu inside and out. Super attentive, friendly, and made mom’s birthday memorable. Great service all around.
Ali was absolutely amazing. She broke down the menu in a way that made ordering so easy and genuinely fun. She gave thoughtful recommendations, explained why she loved certain dishes, and even went into the ingredients so we knew exactly what to expect. Super attentive without being overbearing, and her confidence in the menu made our whole experience better.
Thanks Ali Ask for Ali if you don’t want to mess up your order. She basically became our personal food therapist walked us through the menu, told us exactly what to get, and explained each dish like it was her proud child. We trusted her completely and were rewarded. Attentive, hilarious, and clearly knows her stuff. 10/10 would let her order for me again
The biscuits are honey butter drenched and amazing. Rotating menu of drinks inspired by the French quarter. Great place for shrimp and grits, the macaroni and cheese is amazing. Sliders are a bit plain, but almost everything else on the menu is exceedingly well made. A favorite spot for sure.
We had an amazing meal at Buttermilk & Bourbon! The Pornstar Martini was 10/10 and the fried pickles are probably the best I've had in Boston. My partner loved the catfish. Paulina was a great server and very attentive! Love this location and have been a few times and it's always great.
The menus items are fusion of different cuisine, which are quite fun to try. All dishes are medium sized tapas style, each person probably needs about 1.5 dishes. The alligator meat is exotic, and tastes quite nice. There are other dishes that are a little salty and too strong in flavor that left a strange after taste, hence the four stars for the food. We did not finish the duck and the ribs.
Beautiful space! Good service. Ok food. I went for brunch and had the sausage scramble. The sausage was overcooked and dry. The tots were over fried. I didn’t like the jelly on top which is probably just a style thing. The biscuits were very good. I appreciated the hunk of butter on top of the grits. I will give it a shot for dinner sometime.
Southern Comfort foods with a Bourbon Twist: Buttermilk & Bourbon in the Arsenal Yards brings a taste of the South to Watertown with its flavorful, comfort-driven menu. The vibe is warm and inviting —great for casual dinners or weekend brunch. Highlights: ✔ Southern-inspired dishes – Rich, satisfying flavors with creative twists ✔ Cocktails – A fun mix of classic and bourbon-based drinks (worth trying!) ✔ Atmosphere – Stylish yet relaxed, perfect for groups Room for improvement: - Some dishes could use a bit more boldness to match authentic Southern depth - Service was friendly but occasionally slow during peak times with food coming in randomly from kitchen Overall, a good experience—great for bourbon lovers and anyone craving hearty Southern fare. Would return for the biscuits and creative drinks alone! 🥃
Came here for a weekend brunch. The interior is nice. Has a sort of southern, antique vibe. It was pretty crowded when I went, but I had a reservation. I was seated at a high top. I ordered the signature warm honey glazed biscuits, house special buttermilk fried chicken thighs, and fresh fried beignets. The biscuits are their signature for a reason--definitely the best out of everything that I ordered. They were big and buttery, and the smoked cinnamon butter was very good. They still tasted good reheated the next day. The chicken thighs were very dry, and the waffles were average. I liked the watermelon, but I don't recommend this dish, especially for the price. The beignets were also just okay.
We went on a Saturday around noon and ate outside. First off the concept behind this place is tapas, the food comes out as the kitchen makes it and the waitress recommended 2-3 plates per person. The food, was delicious. We ordered some drinks, biscuits, loaded potato, mac and cheese, crawfish rangoon and chicken and waffles 🧇. We actually couldn’t enjoy our meals there as there was a few yellow jackets 🐝 that were attracted to the sweet food. We tried to ride it out but ultimately decided mid meal to just have them box it up so we could enjoy our food stress free.
I must share my recent encounter with your chicken dish, which was, without question, a most peculiar culinary experience. The flavour was utterly distinctive, imbued with a spice I cannot quite identify, rendering it a challenge for me to fully embrace. Pray, do excuse my frankness, but the lingering odour in my mouth has proven rather tenacious, compelling me to keep my jaw agape to mitigate its intensity. I do not mean to imply the dish was disagreeable—far from it; its uniqueness may well appeal to others with a penchant for bold flavours. I urge prospective diners to sample it for themselves and form their own judgement. For my part, I find myself grappling with the persistent aftertaste, and my stomach, I regret to say, is somewhat unsettled. Please accept my apologies for any unintended discourtesy. I am presently in search of a robust mouthwash to restore my equilibrium.
The portions are too small. If you want to enjoy and leave being full, you should order two dishes. The service was super slow and we had zero access to waiters because we were sitting in a corner where none of them passed. Something I didn’t like about here is that unlike other places you are not offered with a welcome item like bread and butter. Also, I was surprised that we were charged one extra piece of bread we requested, bread is usually offered as complementary almost in any other restaurant. I don’t recommend this place and won’t come back.
Came here for my daughter's birthday. Order pretty much everything on the menu. The nachos were trash too cold, not enough meat definitely DO NOT recommend. Had alligator for the first time and it wasn't that bad. The server kept moving the plate around and a couple pieces fell off the plate. The steak was OK. Mac and cheese was really good. Biscuits beat everything. They literally melt in your mouth. Service was OK.
I wanted to love it.. but it was not it. The menu had pretty good options and the drink was tasty but not strong. The waitress was personable but we had to call her over a few times. My food came out at different times and took a long time to get my bacon. It was a nit chaotic. The cinnamon french toast was good and came out pretty quickly. And apparently another customer saw a mouse. Was not impressed overall
Very mediocre and mid. I’m from Oklahoma and I wish my friends picked a better breakfast brunch spot. I might be blessed being from the south cause the food was bland and mediocre at best for this price. I only got some eggs, bacon and some potatoes with no seasonings. No salt and pepper available? Really? Just cause we are in a northern city doesn’t mean yall can’t season the food properly. Also I ordered the breakfast with a biscuit. No jelly, jam or honey for a biscuit? Yeah nope! Overall you are good getting a brunch or breakfast from a small town diner if Boston even has them. I rather eat a muffin and a coffee from a coffee shop tbh. Never coming here again. Server was not that helpful or nice.
I ordered alligator fries. Who would have ever thought the fries would have real alligator meat on top. The fries are soggy and the meat looks like its topped with fried chicken bites. When we ordered these it was for a vegetarian choice. All items on the menu has a description of what is in the item you order. As for these alligator fries it's literally in the tail. I am so glad I did not allow my toddler to have a bite. The food is over priced for what you are getting. This was our first and last experience here. Horrible! The ONLY thing worth getting here is the honey butter biscuits.
I could go on about the problematic usage of New Orleans “Voodoo” here that is literal cultural appropriation and racial stereotyping against Haitian Vodou and New Orleans Vodou traditions alike. Found the naming of “Voodoo Cocktails” and “voodoo doll” imagery (they don’t exist in Haitian Vodou; and using it is just participating in Hollywood racist dialogue) extremely tiresome (nor would I be the first) but that’s on the owners who probably won’t listen nor even acknowledge the problematic nature of their brand’s imagery. Now about the food. The fried chicken thighs were dry and meh, not quite the best nor were they crispy (I’d say Popeyes has better fried chicken than here). Even with the sauce, the dryness of the chicken lacked flavor and was a drastic contrast to the sauce. You could say the chicken was suitably crispy for someone with braces but for the average Joe, this was hardly fried chicken. The beignets were alright (unless you’re someone who likes them on the light brown side) and service was okay. Not my favorite restaurant nor should be surprised about Southern style cuisine in Boston but it was okay.
