Thank you for a wonderful experience. It was busy outside, we chose to sit inside as we had been at an outdoor event all day so wanted a break from the sun. We had a lovely spot opposite the bar. The decor was lovely and cosy, I particularly loved the fox theme from the paintings displayed to the seat cushions and the glasses 🦊 The food was exceptional. I had the hake which was delicately seasoned and was beautifully complimented by the potato salad. I was having such a lovely time I ordered dessert while my husband finished his ale. The "tea and cake" was equally delicious. Simple harmonising flavours. The Earl Grey ice cream was welcoming on the hot day. Perfect finish to our day out. I'm only sad that we aren't local but will definately return if we are in the area again.
Good food is an understatement. I have been to places twice the price and half the quality of The Fox & Hounds. Their portions are generous, their quality is unbelievable. They say you get what you pay for and it shows. We had a burger and a pie. The pie, was home made, delicious, the beef was melt-in-your-mouth soft and it was full of flavour. The burger was big, amazingly well prepared and rich on flavour. I have seldom seen a place that has burger patties of this size. Even on places like the hardrock cafe do not create burgers like these. Find an excuse to come here, you will love it.
Popped in for a quick drink and a snack. We had the sausage roll which was beyond tasty and the herring was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back, even if we just have the snacks again! The garden was lovely and lots of space outside. Service was great and lots of options from the main menu to a sandwich and chips menu.
Came for an overnight stay at Whittlebury Hall and the Dinner times were crazy so walked 10 mins to this pub to have the best meal we’ve had in years. Potted crab to start followed by chicken, bacon and cheddar pie and roast sirloin of beef finishing with a chocolate brownie and cheese. My beef was excellent, a simple set of ingredients but cooked to perfection. But the pie was the best my wife and I had ever tasted. A little order envy on my part. Service was first class. If you are staying at Whittlebury Hall and don’t have a dinner package take the ten minute walk, you won’t regret it.
We have driven past this pub for many years and finally went in for lunch. Kicking ourselves for not enjoying the gorgeous food here before! A proper gastro pub. Beautifully prepared food and friendly service. So good we have booked to go back. Loved the cod cheek pagodas for starter and was really good and didn't eat all of my husband's chicken, leek and ham pie. Gorgeous pastry and delicious mash. I had the lamb which was beautifully tender. Highly recommend. Found room for sticky toffee pudding as well
Absolutely delicious food, maybe a bit on the large size as portions go, maybe decrease so less food waste but honestly ignore any bad reviews on this place. Each time I have been wowed. The mackerel fillet is just amazing, could eat 10 of them. From the staff, to the customers and there dogs, everyone was just lovely ❤️ If I lived closer I would eat here much more.
This wonderful little gem of a hotel and restaurant was an incredible accidental find. From the moment I walked through the door I felt so welcome, the rooms are recently renovated and very well priced, in addition the team that look after you here can't do enough for you, very clearly taking pride in what they do. If you come here the food is an absolute wow, super generous portions and the quality is outstanding! 11 out of 10, if you're local come here!
A family lunch with a varied menu. Our choices were lovely. Recommend the scotch egg! Friendly informal service. All at a reasonable price. Also they are child friendly. My niece's 10 month old baby was accommodated without fuss. (PS we didn't use one of rooms)
Called in for a Sunday roast and was not disappointed. The food was cooked to perfection and the presentation was amazing. The staff were friendly and service was spot on
We had dinner here whilst staying at Whittlebury Park. The food was delicious, fresh and very generous portion. We were able to get a table last minute which we were very glad of. We had the Hake & Chips, and the Chicken pie, both were lovely and served quickly.
I recommended this venue for our office Christmas celebration, as I've visited previously and always had amazing food in a friendly welcoming atmosphere with great service, so no pressure on the staff or me ! Happily they didn't disappoint, in fact they exceeded expectations and I believe from the comments around the table, that we all will be going back, thank you The Fox & Hounds.
Christmas meal of which there were choices , was beautifully cooked and delivered to a large group with immaculate timing . Best I’ve ever had . Food was amazing and very generous . Service top notch can’t praise enough . Will certainly go back . Thank you .
Absolutely amazing place. Great selection of UK lagers. Our meal was freshly prepared (a nice open view of the kitchen) and beautifully cooked- with perfect service. We look forward to returning. Thank you
We had a very nice meal for my mothers 70th Birthday. There was a big gang of us, so we were put in a separate room. We were well looked after by the staff, who were all really friendly. The food was really good and I look forward to going back again.
My Son and I popped in as we were passing to have a spot of lunch. We had not reserved a table, but the super helpful team squeezed us in, and what a fantastic experience. The beer was fab, the food was delicious and the art on the wall was amazing. I would definitely visit again without question.
Excellent meal at the Fox and Hounds. We were staying nearby for an event at Silverstone race circuit on the Saturday and thoroughly enjoyed our meal out here on the Friday night. The staff were great and fantastic food made the whole evening superb. The team also accommodated a small birthday treat for one of our guest. 100% returning next time we are in the area.
Stopped here for dinner while working away, and this place is a gem! From the friendly service to the food at a very reasonable price. Highly recommend, and will definitely revisit if I'm ever in the area again
Stayed for a couple of nights. We were greeted by friendly staff on arrival. Great food and great atmosphere in the pub area. Would happily stay again here.
Incredible food, Incredible staff, a top-notch spot in all regards
Great drinks. Great food. Fantastic team and service.
I wish I could give more stars. Best Christmas meal we have ever had. Staff were brilliant and food was fresh and hot. Karen was an amazing host. Thank you so much and Merry Christmas to you all.
10/10. Perfect country pub. Food is amazing. We stayed the night. Room very comfortable. Breakfast was the best one I have ever had!!!. Great selection of ales and beer too
Great country pub/restaurant very busy when we arrived but the helpful staff found us a table and we had a very nice meal 😋
Roast chicken absolutely delicious can't fault the food or service, my daughter and partner had roast beef that was delicious also. We go most weeks as i love Sunday roast out!!
Just wanted to pass on my thanks and to say that I very much enjoyed my stay over the weekend. The room was airy and clean and the bed comfy, which was perfect and just what I wanted. I will be booking again for next year once I have the dates confirmed for the event I need to attend at Whittlebury hall.
The restaurant has quite literally the best food in the area. I stayed in the area for work and came back to The Fox and Hounds multiple times to try more from the menu. This is one to make a special trip for, and definitely visit if you are anywhere close! I’d give it 6 stars if possible. Great staff, fantastic food and good atmosphere. Don’t miss it.
Stayed here for 3 nights Friday thru Sunday for the F1 weekend. Our second stay, we came for the Moto GP last August, brought our daughter back this time. Its so well placed for an easy 20-25 minute walk to the track. Lived up to and exceeded our expectations this time. Room was lovely, beds comfy, very clean. We ate 3 nights and took advantage of 2 breakfasts. Food was delicious, presentation beautiful, and tasted outstanding. The breakfast was a fantastic start to the day. Can't single staff out as the warm welcome and friendly smiles that greeted us shone thru all the team. From breakfast to dinner and drinks, staff couldn't have been more helpful, always taking the time to ask how our day had been. The pub is very clean throughout and runs like a well oiled machine. The relaxed and friendly nature of the staff really made our stay so much more enjoyable. We look forward to coming back one day, away from racing events, to enjoy the live music and great hospitality again in the future. Would absolutely recommend. Exact same review posted on TripAdvisor! Cannot fault it!
Great place to eat. Service was polite, friendly, and quick. So important clean. Food was better than expected, not that I had any real expectations.
Great atmosphere. Great food, though limited menu, which I prefer, but no chicken dishes. The staff are really great I will definitely be going back. We were celebrating a birthday and the other guests were equally impressed. Low key place but well worth the effort.
I can highly recommend this lovely gastropub. The food and service are fantastic! We had roast dinners which were perfectly cooked, followed by sticky toffee pudding & chocolate brownie which were to die for!!!
We had a family lunch here. Great service and the food was delicious with well sized portions. The kids really enjoyed their meals also. To top things off, there was a nice selection of larger.
Nice friendly welcome and great service. The food was absolutely delicious. Will definitely be calling in again when in the area
We had a lovely dinner in this quiet pub. The food was lovely, home cooked with a lot of care. The staff were lovely. We were surprised that the restaurant was so quiet, it's a lovely spot, maybe just one of those quiet days. We enjoyed our visit.
Stopped here for Sunday lunch, we are both veggie so are always on the look out for a good nut roast. Really delicious, served hot, best nut roast we have had recently, very moist with an onion chutney which worked well with it, excellent portion served with roasties, carrots, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire, cabbage, good service, nice ambiance. Would highly recommend.
Lovely gastropods with excellent food and great wine at reasonable prices. Rooms are quite expensive between £90-£120 at time of booking however were immaculate and minimalist / contemporary. Only criticism would be 'breakfast hamper' of long life croissant, whilst served with nice butter and jam and fruit, was a little underwhelming, at this price point would have been nice to include cooked breakfast. PS No TV, which I quite liked, so bring your tablet! PPS photo taken on leaving room so a bit messy down to me.
Friendly. Good value food. Apparently there are vegan versions of most of the vegetarian options, but the chef made a special tasty vegan vegetable teriyaki with jasmine rice and crispy noodles for me
A bit cheaper than many local village pubs and this is reflected in the food. Heavy on fried, light on fresh & green! If steak n chips is your thing, this place will satisfy you! Lovely atmosphere, amazing decor, nice staff.
Nice place to stop and eat especially uf visiting Silverstone. Lots of cool Formula 1 Memorabilia/photographs on walls. Had dinner which was actually very good quite a basic menu but excellent quality.
What a lovely place! Dog friendly too. Great food good value. Perhaps think about adding doggy treats as an extra option on the menu and different price for Affogato if you don't have the liqueur. £9 for a scoop of icecream and an espresso is a lot.
Booked for a table of 6 for a birthday. What a lovely meal it was, service of the food was brilliant! Service of being welcomed and seated could have been better. Certainly would be going again. Reccomend the pie 🥧
Varied food menu, decent wine list. Food was nice but not incredible. My soup was tasty but very watery. The polenta was an interesting texture with the merest hint of Gorgonzola, you could miss it in there. Venison cooked perfectly. I’d have loved to have been offered water when seated and for salt and pepper to have been available on the table. We were informed parts of the pub were being redecorated and the smell of paint perhaps a little overwhelming when trying to eat.
Stopped here for a pub lunch after visiting silverstone nearby. Our party had 2 x fish and chips which was exceptional. Veggie burger was okay but was a mushroom and a lot of goats cheese. Lovely chips. Good selection of beer, ale and wine. Nice atmosphere however I imagine it lost some of its old pub cosiness when it was modernised. Good parking and garden with a lovely view of fields out the back
Lovely country pub, great ambiance, lovely food and wine, triple cooked dripping chips are to die for!!!
Probably nice for drinks, but wouldn't recommend the food- bad burgers even for a normal pub, let alone a 'gastropub.' We went for a meal with the family on a quiet Saturday afternoon and the waitress acted bothered and aloof the entire time we were there. Her attitude from the beginning was rude which I can only assume is because she had to do her job and seat us instead of carrying on chatting to the bartender.
Food was OK but no better or worse than elsewhere. Corned beef terrine sounded interesting but wasn't. It was just corned beef. Guinness 0 was from a supermarket can so not a full pint that one usually gets from a pub. Naughty.
Visited on a not too busy weekend. Drinks were expensive and food barely acceptable. The optional 10% service charge was a kick in the teeth for very minimal service. This is more of a local boozer for the villagers as opposed to outside visitors.
The restaurant needs updating as the decor is far too dark, in fact the whole place needs reviving especially the outside terrace which is under some sort of cover which needs a good deal of attention and the terrace itself could really do with some TLC to make it welcoming and appealing. As it was a sunny day we sat with our drinks on the terrace for a good three quarters of an hour and didn't see a single member of staff. On entering the car park from the road the first objects you see are a row of waste bins followed by a very untidy littered area adjacent to the car park. Whoever owns this pub which is the only one in the village needs to take a good look at the outside from a customers viewpoint as this could be a very attractive place to visit.
