What a beautiful, community run place! Delightful mix of light, modern with traditional. So welcoming. Delish food. Friendly staff. Can't wait to having lunch outside in the summer. Really recommend Saturday lunch as usually isn't at all busy.

The Stag is a little hidden gem! Not only is the pub absolutely beautiful but the team are so friendly, welcoming and the service is outstanding! Food is next level delish! My boyfriend was blown away by the pork Sunday roast (he's super fussy) and I'm a veggie and I absolutely loved my roast too 😋 I also love that they support local businesses through selling and displaying their artwork, hand crafted goods and running workshops - it really is one of a kind and a must visit! Huge thanks to Lauren and Julia for your support of my business and for making me feel so welcome every time I've visited, it's makes the world of difference to be greeted by such smiley happy peeps!

Very well run, friendly and beautiful pub. Cannot fault it in anyway. It’s owned by members of the village but still sells premium lagers, which is good.

Great staff that were bothered about providing good service, which is sadly rare these days. Good coffee, nice wine, and perfect food. My only gripe is having only one choice of desert being gf. Most things can be made without gluten that doesn't compromise on the taste and then jokers like me can have choice. Brilliant place 👏

Stopped by for a lite lunch. Nice choices - not too pricey, great attentive service. I like the interior and some nice micro brewery ales on offer. Would go again.

Another great meal at The Stag, this time for a work Christmas dinner. Both starter (smoked salmon) and main (beef brisket with trimmings) were excellent, as was the service. Will be visiting again!

We had a lovely dinner with a friend, great choices for all dietary requirements. Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Staff were very attentive but not intrusive. Atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Just a wonderful Saturday dinner. Thank you so much for your hospitality and compliments to the chef.

Very clean and we'll decorated pub. Whilst the main emphasis on a Sunday lunchtime is food, we only popped in for a drink. The staff were very welcoming and pleasant, the beer was obviously well looked after, to the point where I had to have more than one! All in all a very positive experience.

Such a lovely meal. We had nibbles for starters, as they looked delicious. Pork pie and homemade chutney and sourdough bread and whipped ricotta. We had the chicken mushroom and tarragon pie. The chips were crispy and tasty, and the chicken schnitzel had just the right amount of coating, tomatoes, burrata and dressing. No room for dessert unfortunately. There was a good range of drinks and the draught beer was reasonably priced. We received a lovely welcome when we arrived and the atmosphere had a friendly buzz. All servers were polite, professional and attentive. I would not hesitate to recommend The Stag.

Another delicious meal and a chance to catch up with friends. The menu had a very impressive selection catering for my wife's requirement for gluten free.

Food and service were amazing for our party of ten. I would highly recommend the Stag and will certainly go back again. Loved it!

Went in last minute with my boyfriend this evening as we had it recommended to us by a friend and it did not disappoint! Ben who worked there and served us was so welcoming, so friendly and super attentive. The food was delicious. I cannot fault it!

Booked a table at our parent's favourite restaurant The Stag after their internment today. It didn't disappoint. The food was as good as I've eaten in a very long time and the service was even better. We had a lovely family lunch and can't wait to return. Thankyou especially to our young server, nothing was too much trouble. A real gem especially when sitting in their lovely garden.

The entire Stag experience was delightful- attentive friendly staff, very clean throughout and the food was absolutely scrumptious- the gorgeous knickerbocker glory to finish was outstanding!!… I would recommend to others:- 10/10 and we are already coming back!!🥰🌟

I visit The Stag regularly, and it’s always a great experience! The food is very tasty, and I enjoy how the menu changes often. The large garden is perfect for sunny days, and in the winter, the fireplace inside adds a lovely touch to the cozy atmosphere. The service is consistently friendly and good. Highly recommend it!

A perfect celebration for our friends Golden Wedding Anniversary, could not fault the Stag in anyway.

Very nice lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Good menu, lovely food. I feel that some low background music would provide some atmosphere, particularly if you aren't seated in the main dining area.

We are incredibly grateful to The Stag for providing the most wonderful venue for a large family 18th birthday celebration. The whole of the family loved The Stag experience, it was absolutely perfect. The food, service, atmosphere, choice of wines, table setting for group of 17…. It was all bang on!!! We also really liked that fact that the layout of the pub allows a large group to still be part of the main body of the pub and it’s good atmosphere.

Really delicious dinner. My husband said the fish was excellent and my veggy onion tart tatin was really tasty. Also lovely fresh chips. Hoping the new autumn menu will have some exciting vegetarian options, preferably without goats cheese. The Sauvignon was not as good as some.

First time we have been for Sunday lunch. Excellent roast. Lovely rare beef! Great atmosphere ( busy with families dogs etc!!) and staff as always friendly and helpful. Gluten free food wasn’t an issue.

Yesterday was our first visit to the Stag at Mentmore and it will not be our last. The food was absolutely delicious. Everyone said it was one of the best roast dinners they had ever had. It was excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and polite. We will definitely be returning.

Booked Saturday lunch for my husband and two mothers and me. There was a very large party in and the staff were quick to advise of an inevitable delay to food whilst their food was being prepared. We were in no hurry and happy to have a leisurely lunch but nice to be informed. Food was delicious and not overseasoned which I find now in most places. As we do not cook with much salt at home I can now find it overpowering when eating out. It’s great to leave the choice of adding more seasoning if preferred at the table to the individual. I had the fish pie and green vegetables and we had the fish and chips and steak pie - all top quality and clean plates. Staff were faultless, tables nicely spaced out and a nice atmosphere. Everyone looked to be having a relaxed and enjoyable time. No hesitation to recommend a visit.

We booked the Stag to celebrate the life of my mother in law. The staff were so helpful and empathetic. The food was fantastic, many commented on how good it was. Also, our friends and family were envious that we had such a great local pub! Thank you for helping make the day a fitting tribute.

Exceeded expectations, which were high before we arrived ! Menu choices were exceptional. Had duck - cooked to perfection. Apple/pear crumble was the best I've had in a long while.

Absolutely fantastic! Just been in for a roast dinner after a lovely walk. Both had the roast pork belly, plus we added the cauliflower cheese and the stuffing balls. By far one of the best roast dinners we’ve ever had dining out. Super tasty, generous portions and fantastic value. Glass of wine or a pint of local ale both were less than a fiver each. We'll be back

Have cycled past many times n I finally visited for Sunday lunch. Sat in the sunny and beautiful gardens (altho the inside of the pub also looked lovely). Food was good but the service was very friendly n attentive. We'll defo be back, altho it's best to prebook if you want to eat.

Tasty roast, had the lamb. Was giid. Roast potatoes lost a mark from me. Not great. Dessert.. The afrogato lovely but the petit fours very disappointing. Cost was ok.

Nice Sunday lunch here once again but not up to their usual standard food wise. Meal was barely luke warm and beef tough and stringy. Delicious cauliflower cheese though and lovely friendly staff and prompt service. We have eaten here many times so know this was just a "blip" and we would still return.

Very good Sunday Lunch but could be better. Excellent meat dishes and gravy but Yorkshire's and Toasties not quite there. Might be down to mid-afternoon reservation. Deserts also very good.

Food delicious however the table was so sticky. The staff clean the wooden table with a disinfectant spray but the residue makes the table sticky. Just needs a quick clean with a clean wet cloth after using the disinfectant spray. Staff very attentive however we had to ask for our empty glasses to be removed from the table.
