Was on a trip that was about to go down in history as one of the worst. Then we went out for a quick bite. We walked into the turtle island café were we soon stayed for a whole meal. Next day we went back. It made the bad trip a good trip. Food was beyond awesome and service was too Needless to say we loved it

The Turtle Island Cafe is a gem of a restaurant. We eat here often and have never been disappointed. Excellent, freshly prepared food. We are so lucky to have them here in Willsboro!

This is my go-to place for dinner out in this area. just top notch. The menu is creative, the food well prepared, and the ambience is relaxed and comfortable. Chef David is friendly and interesting, and clearly wants his guests pleased and happy. Maybe won't do for the hoity-toity set, but just fine by me.

What a cafe this is! Located in Adirondacks, and with outdoor seating available what's not to love? Absolutely enjoyed the food and the friendly service me and my parents recieved.

There aren't many restaurants- even excellent ones - that leave me yearning to return asap. Turtle Island is an exception; the dinner I had there recently was so outstanding in every way that I wish I were there again right now. (Unfortunately, I live out west and was only visiting the Willsboro area.) The service was personal and very friendly and accommodating but neither hovering nor overbearing. My cocktail was made with freshly squeezed lemon juice and homemade sugar syrup, not the usual sweet and sour blend from a bottle that is used by most bars. Although my Mother knew how to make an excellent duck, the crispy duck I had there was, without exaggeration, the best I've ever tasted (and because I like duck, I have tasted a lot of it over the course of a long life). I reluctantly admit that it was even better than my Mother's. The meat was cooked to perfection, not dried out at all; and the skin was perfectly crispy and not fatty. I ate there with 3 other people; everyone loved what they ordered. Everything we were served wasn't just good; it was superlative! Furthermore, the prices were amazingly reasonable, especially given the high quality of the food and drink.

While vacationing with my family in the Adirondacks we stumbled upon this restraunt and got lunch. We loved it so much we went back for dinner the next day. Very unique menu for a small town local restaurant. Food was fantastic both times.

This is one of the few restaurants in a small town but you would never know it when you eat there. Food is excellent, staff is great and the river right out front gives a nice view. When we got into town later than expected this evening and the grocery store was closed we called to see if they were open. They were closing but stayed open just for our order. With social distancing, we got the food to go. When I pulled in, a Woman walked the food to my car. These guys made our night!

The staff were very kind and helpful. I had the crabcake BLT - very good! The bacon was thick and crispy (my favorite). I had a turle brownie too - yum! I did take out, but did sit inside for a while. Cozy and clean.

I hadn't been at Turtle Island Cafe in many years since we moved from Willsboro. The return to Turtle Island was a pleasure and didn't disappoint. The decor remains classic, the service (I think her name was Lu) was very professional and the lunch was delicious. The buffalo wedge salad was a nice way to add some protein to the classic wedge salad. The buffalo chicken and blue cheese dressing is always a winner. Looking forward to the next visit to Turtle Island Cafe!

the food was excellent .I had stuffed crab in portabella mushroom...deeelicous ! Unfortunately the woman who waited on me and my friend was basically unfriendly.. almost bordering on rude..I noticed she was like that before..if the chef wasn't so incredible and the live music so enjoyable , I wouldn't go there..

What a pleasant suprise. We had just gotten off the ferry and where looking for a place to eat and this place had a high rating. Its as though someone came back from Italy in the 80s and opened up rhwie dream restaurant in the Adirondak and the place is basicly frozen in time. Anyways, I just had a Capri sandwich with Fries and it was great, and the decor is so kich I could not not love this place.

Excellent, dare I say- perfect. I had a killer burger here with huge tasty fries. My wife had the lemonade mixed drink and seared tuna that she says was " pretty darn good." Prices are good too for the high quality food you recieve. This is a place you would expect to find in Burlington.

A real gem in a small Vermont town. We found it on the way to the ferry after visiting Ausable Chasm. Nice clean place, staff was friendly. I had the Pork Osso Bucco which was excellent.

This was the perfect place for a late lunch on a warm autumn day. Our server was awesome and we loved being invited to “make ourselves at home”, which was his way of saying any seat you like, but it made us feel like friends. Tuna carpaccio and my boyfriends burger were cooked perfectly. This was a great little find and the fact that my picky boyfriend liked it speaks volumes!

Hidden gem in the Adirondacks. I had one of the best burgers that I have had out in a very long time. People were friendly and service was great! Not many beers on tap, but nice bottle selection of craft brews and an extensive wine list.

We stopped here unplanned expecting a generic small town cafe. This is not typical diner food, it is exceptional quality. We did a tapas lunch and everything we had was very good. My nephew got the wild caught fish dinner and some of the best fish I've had outta a restaurant in quite some time. The outdoor seating is okay but could use some updating. However there is a propane rock fire place thing to sit by for drinks.

Great little hidden gem. Tyler took amazing care of me and my friends, as well as our two pups. Bonus points a dog friendly patio! Great food and people!

Absolutely delicious flavor profile, you will not be sorry for ordering this dish! If you love barbecue/smoked meats, the Brisket is the bomb, served with potato purée that tastes a lot like cheesy grits, oh if I could have eaten more!! Also ordered pork Osso Bucco that was falling off the bone, braised to perfection with large marrow bone to bring your tastebuds to a whole new level of delight. YES, we definitely ordered dessert but took it home to eat later, way later! Again, can’t impress upon you more to not miss these Mussels!! Your WELCOME! I sat at the bar and enjoyed a dogfish head 60 min IPA, ordered the wild mushroom clam chowder soup of the day and crab cakes. The soup was fantastic. The crab cakes were fresh and presented beautifully. There was only one waitress for the entire place so please be patient because it is worth the wait. I am looking forward to returning.

Stopped by for lunch on a whim while driving through. It is in a neat old building that may have been an former general store or similar. Food was very good, a little more expensive than we expected - about $17 for a sandwich, $5 extra if you want fries with it, and $10 for a cup of soup. It seems to be locally sourced so that may explain the higher prices. Would recommend just be aware that its a bit more expensive than other locations in the Adirondack mtns.

While on a recent fishing trip, a friend introduced me to Turtle Island Cafe, and I was very pleased to find a great menu. I chose the sole stuffed with scallops and crab drizzled with hollandaise which was done perfectly. I recommend trying this great restaurant. Enjoy!

9/22 Came upon this place by accident. Inside is quaint with nice bar. Menu options all seemed great. Decided on several appetizers! Will definitely be back! Everything including service was better than expected.

We had hamburgers they were excellent fries are homemade so you have to wait a little bit but it's well worth it. The waitress who is a regular there has a great Laugh Smile and happy person

Ordered the Capri with crab cakes and Eggplant Parm sandwiches. Took them to go due to Covid, but would have loved to be seated inside in the space, under different circumstances. Both sandwiches were very good, but were missing the sides that came with them, according to the menu. Highly recommend!

Service was mediocre, food was good though. The seafood from various great locations was a plus. Picturesque location as well.

I had a delightful BLT (and yes, it was some of the best bacon ever!) But my 2 companions had so so soup and salads.

Yeah not sure why this place gets such good ratings here. Maybe people don't travel enough or not far away. The "praised" mussels were just ok. The lobster roll, while tasty, is not something extraordinary. The osso bucco was palatable and well made, though. One thing to notice, is that all restaurants in this area is that the portions are little compared to the prices :( Another thing i didn't like is how cramped the place is. Seats are tiny. Space between tables is almost non-existent. It made it worse when some two men band started setting up and started to sing old country songs off tune. There was also no announcement not a sign at the door for us to decide to eat here or not.

My burger was ordered medium well and was basically beyond well. Everything is ala cart, and fries are $5 on top of the $17 for a burger. I think the attempt at “upscale” is a fail. The only plus was our server was very accommodating, it was not his fault the food was terrible.

Average food but pathetic service. We were made to wait for more than 45 minutes just to take our order. The waitress did not care much and she refused to take our ready by excusing us that she will back soon and the owner only cared to ask if the car wrongly parked in the driveway was ours. If your aren’t local, I strongly advise against going to this place.

Owner seems to have anger, vice or Rx issue? Rude to many guests. Holds tables for locals. Which is good. Food very average. This is the unique little place we hope for in summer house full of guest months. It is a total disappointment with the attitude issues. Without effort it might be a gem...too bad! Bravo for those bringing other forms of great food to area residence and summer community. Hope for more restaurant choices in area in the future. Owner apparently did not care for review and called late on Friday evening bullying and threateng...Not to improve the bad service. Which was the issue in the first place. He had opportunity at restaurant to be gracious and wasn't. On the phone instead of graciously apologizing for issues the same negative bullying behavior. Too bad!
