Great brunch! Everything was cooked perfectly.
We came as a family of 3 at 5:45 on a Saturday, it was Amazing!! My son had a chicken tender basket with fries- which was the best he'd ever had. My husband and I shared the tuna taco appetizer and had our own meals. And from the first bite to the last, it was to die for! Everything was great and I'm requesting this meal for my birthday 🎂 🥳 Summer succotash was my favorite.
Fantastic place to go for dinner. The servers were amazing and the food was off the chain. I can't wait to go back.
Excellent. Loved our waiter. Calamari was exceptional.
Every course was impecable, I feel like my brother makes better scallops. But hey, He's my Brother.
The food here is exceptional. It’s a well kept secret apparently to Wrightsville Beach residents and tourists. We dined here on a Thursday evening with few other guests. It should have been packed!
22 North is located on a beach access very close to the ocean and offers a unique experience of a great restaurant and late night fun. Their tasty food is locally sourced, never frozen and ordered weekly. There are a variety of options because of a rotating menu that is based on the availability of fresh ingredients. Steaks are grass fed and seafood is wild-caught. If you want to visit late-night, it's also very popular for drinks and a good time. So overall, if you're visiting the Wilmington/Wrightsville Beach area come enjoy a nice evening on the beach then a local and friendly atmosphere at 22 N.
Such a hidden secret! The outside facade doesn't look like much at all and parking is tricky, but it is worth it! Our family is a group of foodies, so when we decided to drive to the beach for the weekend we were expecting to eat local seafood at mediocre restaurants. Not the case here!! It was absolutely incredible, artfully-crafted dishes with eclectic sides and appetizers. We also enjoyed the martini menu, ordering the official martini of the Azalea festival: Berry Bloom. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I can never get enough of this place. The food is fresh, inventive, and delectable, and the service is really great, too. Not much of an atmosphere, but the food is well worth the visit. I've been here several times over the years and have never been disappointed.
22 north was such a surprise! The staff was extremely friendly, the food was delicious and it was great to meet the chef. It’s more of a surprise to see the lack of people missing out on this wonderful experience! Definitely going back for dinner!
Carolina cuisine at it's very best!! I would absolutely recommend 22 North to anyone who loves and appreciates fresh/local seafood!! The restaurant is unlike any other I have experienced so far in Wilmington as the menu fluctuates to serve what the local fisherman deliver to Motts Channel right off the boats! From the Gulf Stream to your dinner plate.. this place is fresh as it gets!! And I LOVE how this business works in conjunction with the local fisherman, the local seafood channel, and the local community full circle....22 North exceeds ALL expectations. At the end of our meal our server showed us the award on display for THE TASTE OF WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH!!! This place is worth so much more than 5 little stars!
22 North is the real deal! Superb food beyond my wildest expectations and to my complete delight. Shrimp and grits. Cavatelli and lobster. Pork and greens. Skirt steak. Key Lime Pie. All out of this world! Features a blackboard menu in a relaxed setting with white table clothes where one feels comfortable dressed up or dressed down. A class place. A destination. Thanks, Brent and Andrew! You're the best!
I've been told they have great food but I've only been here after dark. It's always crowded on weekends & summer. I don't think I've ever had a bad time at this bar.
Can't say enough good things about this place. Their food is amazing and I love that their menu changes so often because of their fresh selections. Definitely go here, you won't be let down!!
All the other restaurants had hour long waits and when we went in and asked, there was only a 15 minute wait. We decided to wait and it was well worth it! The food was impeccable and the staff was very nice and accommodating of us. We highly recommend this restaurant to anybody that comes to Wilmington!
22 North is such a nice restaurant. From the food to the look on the inside. It is an amazing dining experience. The catch’s of the days are always so tasty. The salmon was perfect in a salad!
The best calabash platter I’ve ever had!! The shrimp and catfish were absolutely amazing and the fries were really good and crispy. They home make their dressings, and the deserts were so good! It’s wonderful for families and very kid friendly:)
We all ordered the shrimp and grits. The chef came out and asked if he could prepare it a few different ways for us. We agreed and he personally brought out two different recipes of shrimp and grits to us. They were incredible! We will go back next vacation.
We had our rehearsal dinner at 22 North and it was amazing! Chef Brent and Katie were wonderful to work with. We had dinner there prior and they severed us several small plates so we could sample all they had to offer. Once we decided on what we wanted, Chef called us (we are from out of state) and planned our dinner menu with us - it was all so delicious, service was outstanding. You can tell they pride themselves on exceptional food and experience. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a great dinner or a wonderful wedding weekend memory! Fabulous!
We came in from out of town and it was a very romantic dinner for us. The food was absolutely amazing! The bacon wrapped scallops are delicious! We came back a few hour laters for the bar and it was the most fun out of all the beach bars! I come here every time I come to Wrightsville Beach!
Pleasantly surprised. I had a delicious Moscow mule (the ginger beer was on point). To eat I had the duck special it was really tender an very flavorful. I tried my husbands Parmesan encrusted catfish, it melted in my mouth. Definitely recommend
I had my brother’s 21st birthday party here and it was incredible. Every staff member was thorough in making sure everything was perfect and the food was so fresh and delicious. Will be recommending to anyone I can.
One word WOW. Great food. I never do reviews but we had to this time. Shrimp and grits-best ever. If you are in the area and don't go to eat here then you missed out. Chef Brent is no joke. He can cook. Thanks Brent for an awesome home cooked meal while away from home. We will be back.
For this place I wish Google had a higher scale to rate on easily 10 star here .an absolute must try. I was nervous at first with the small fresh daily menu . But after receiving our food well I do not have the linguistic skills to describe it but my wife and I were thoroughly satisfied with our meals to say the very least. I had the skirt steak and my wife had the pork tenderloin and WOW absolutely no lack of well balanced flavor bursting out of every single bite.
This place has a little something for everyone! If you are looking for a great dinner with fresh and LOCAL seafood or something from the land then this is definitely the place for you. Seafood is delivered daily from a local market and the chefs create one of a kind entrees each night. The atmosphere is one of casual dining experience with exceptional food and drink pairings. The staff are knowledgeable about the menu and will help you in any way possible. If you are looking for more of a bar scene then you are luck as well! Around 10 pm (when dinner ends) The restaurant is transformed into a hip beach bar with great drink specials and friendly bartenders.
Really nice restaurant the perfect spot to celebrate an anniversary, go on a date or take friends or family. This place is unique they have one big menu that they out on an easel at every table. The food is always fresh so many options. There desserts are amazing. Here the service is fast and attentive. Already looking forward to my next visit.
What a gracious staff! Really top-notch food, not at all crowded (which surprised us), try the 22 Burger - perfectly seasoned and cooked, crispy bun, fresh greens. Clam chowder was tasty, too. Will definitely be back!
I was a little apprehensive at first but I am so glad that we found this place the food was made with absolute care and genuine Pride the chef was brilliant in his menu selections Seafood was cooked to perfection we had the seared blackened swordfish amazing the chef was brilliant in his menu selections seafood was fresh to perfection we had the seared blackened swordfish, it was amazing! We had coconut shrimp and fried green tomatoes all done in a light delicate authentic manner. The chef suggested we try the banana pudding never thought I'd order it from a restaurant but it was completely well worth the calories :) if you want delicious tasty food, give this a try you'll be very satisfied!
I ordered catfish it was delicately breaded and therefore did not detract from the taste of the catfish itself. The catfish was perfectly fried and delicious. Served over Southern collards which I absolutely loved. I ate early and it was not crowded the service was excellent. Wish I had been more hungry would have tried the alligator bites.
We stopped in to eat here after being on the road for 4 hours, so we came in quite soon after they opened for the evening. No one else was in the place except for the employees. The waitress was very sweet and attentive, they were out of the gator bites but we ended up ordering a couple other appetizers which were really good. My husband got the shrimp and grits and I got the captain's platter. Both were really good! Our waitress mentioned they had just reopened and changed their menu but we were really happy with what we ordered. The manager made sure to check on us often and we felt very taken care of, glad we were the only people in the place!! I hope people will stop in and give this place a shot!
My husband and I were at the beach on a rainy Sunday (Memorial day weekend) and we wanted to go somewhere to grab a quick bite and go right back to the beach before the rain started. 22 North was a great pick! I got the crab legs and he got the bacon wrapped scallops. Both great choices! He let me try one and it did not disappoint. My crab legs were succulent and filling. The only reason for the 4/5 is because of the parking hassle, unlike some other surrounding places, you’d either have to pay to park or walk for a bit. Other than parking, the place itself is amazing!!!
The idea of a menu that changes every couple of days is great. I really enjoy how someone else thinks food should be prepared and this place delivered. The service was excellent, We were however the only ones there and it was late on a Sunday night. What I do not get about this place is that I felt like I was in some Beach Bar / Pub with a very exquisite menu. Very unique! Will be back.
After being told this restaurant is fantastic I quickly made a reservation for our family. Upon walking in we were immediately greeted by an off-putting odor in the air which smelled like mildew mixed with cleaner. Not a great combo with eating. We ordered salmon croquettes and gator for starters which were both excellent. My husband had a dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives (they had never heard of these but made them special for him). I had the bandit but had too much ice making it watery. Fried scallops were "ok", red drum was excellent and fish and chips ok as well. Great service from Ian but just not as good as we expected.
Server knew the menu very well, was able to answer our questions, and suggested great food! The food was out of this world -- The perfect combination of Amazing and Eclectic!! The shrimp and grits was to die for! Peanut butter pie was like Heaven in your mouth! Recommend this restaurant 100%. We especially loved how the menu is small and changes daily to ensure the freshest ingredients. Food was obviously made to order, but was prepared quickly. Prices are very reasonable for the quality of food and large portions. Parking is a bit of a challenge, but it's Wrightsville Beach...
Delicious food and great service. Offering fresh catch of the day. We had the Red Drum, absolute delicious and scallops as an appetizer, which was to die for. We would go again.... oh yeah, $2.00 beers, you can't beat that.
Multiple dinners over several years. Great location, but hit or miss food and service. At it's best it's a 5 with well prepared food. But I've had a 2 experience here on their special "Rib Night." Their "Martini" specialties are vodka...which is not a real Martini.
Food was good, nothing special, just general dining, service was good and atmosphere was fine, especially with it right on the beach strip and walking distance for us. A bit of a strange odor in the air, but overall good experience.
This place was really empty on a Friday night and the music was terrible. I got the pork chop which I was satisfied with. Nothing crazy special going on in this place, but it's not bad if you don't want a crowded bar to eat in like some other places down the street.
Decent place. We grabbed takeout from here and ordered quite a bit. We got loaded fries, chipotle chicken sandwiches, fish n chips, seared scallops (app), stuffed mushrooms, and the clam chowder. The loaded fries were missing the sour cream and chives and the fries, themselves, were super greasy. We're guessing the oil may not have been hot enough. Chicken sandwiches were grilled nicely but the toppings were lacking and looked like scrap pieces of lettuce and onions. Fish n chips were good, juicy and tender. The main thing we were disappointed by was the fries. Seared scallop app was good. Great sear and decently sized. The mushroom risotto was super yummy. Overall it was good but slightly over-salted. I feel like it needed some acidity to cut the richness of the risotto and scallops. Stuffed mushrooms were good but not super flavorful. Clam chowder had a good amount of clam and potatoes in there. My only thing is that it was super watery. Maybe it's meant to be watery? I think if it was cooked down or thickened a tad bit, I'd like it more. Overall this was an okay experience, but I understand you lose some "freshness" in dishes by taking them out. The prices were decent for what you get, but there were some things that could have been better. We hope to dine in some time and get the full experience!
My big complaint is that this place advertises that the menu is a chalkboard only menu. Leading you to believe that the menu is fresh every day. This is not the case. The menu we were served was a very generic one. I've left my review at three stars as what we did receive was very good. The service was a little lacking, but the back of house obviously knew their stuff. However, do not advertise a unique dining experience that is based on the fresh catch of the day when you have a formulaic menu.
In my 3 years of sobriety I've never had a bartender be so rude about me ordering a water. Shorter thick guy. Potentially drunk himself.
I've eaten here on previous vacations and was really looking forward to returning this trip, however, I was terribly disappointed this time. My bistro steak was very so so along with the service and refills were few and far between. The highlight was the chicken strips which my children really enjoyed. Writing this sucks because I used to love this place. Time to find a new favorite I guess.
Awful experience all the way around. First walking in it smelled really gross. Being in the bar tending industry it smelled like a dirty bar and mats. This was the only place that did not have a wait and it was empty so we decided to sit down anyways. The kids were fussy and tired so we ordered their food and asked for the kids food (Mac and cheese which turned out to be kraft which takes a few seconds in the microwave to make) however we waited and waited for our food. It took 45 minutes for our appetizers to come out even longer for the kids food. By the time it arrived my child had fallen asleep and did not get to eat her food. When ordering our dinner we asked how big the Mahi mahi was. The server had no idea and said it was one small chunk so we decided to order two instead of one. When it came out it was a long and large serving with two chunks of fish not the one. It was bland tasted like it had been boiled and had no flavors at all. We each took only a few bites of our fish. Another member of our party ordered the chicken tenders. The tenders were full of cartilage and she said her ranch tasted bad like it was spoiled. She tried to over come the taste and tried to eat it again but couldn’t. Others tried the ranch afterwards to see if we thought it was spoiled. It was. We told the manager on duty and her response was “no it’s not. It has dill in it so it tastes different. I thought it was bad the first time I tasted it too”. However the place we went the next day had dill ranch too and it did not taste spoiled. I spent $45 after tip on an appetizer (crocodile which I DONOT recommend) that had 2 bites taken out of it, a Mahi Mahi fish that had 2 bites taken out of it and a children’s Mac and cheese that had not been touched. I should have got ALL of my money back and did not even receive a discount or any effort to finding out what was wrong with any of our meals. Needless to say we spent more time waiting on our food than we did eating it. We ended up ordering a pizza while still at the table and left it at that. When I was a manager of a restaurant and saw a table left with all of their food still on their plates I would have made a better effort at making the experience better.
By far worst bar ever anytime the owner kicks you out for a joke you said and then smile and grin in your face and say wassup bro after he fussed you out and there people who has done worse stuff and let right back in there from a personal experience 22 and Jimmys is not where you want to go in WB.
1st time and the last time I will eat here. 40$ for Mac n cheese with 2 bites of lobster claws. Very disappointed for the cost of our meals. My daughter's chicken was only good plate on table, cannot deny them that.
Went up to the door last night (Friday) around 7:30, and they were closed - no lights on and front door was dead bolted locked
They literally turned us down at the door claiming to have not enough cooks in the kitchen. I don't buy it and I would NOT EVER go back or recommend this place. And we were not even there close to closing. Zero stars is more appropriate.
So disappointed in our meal. The gator bites, calamari and hot and spicy fried chicken were heavily breaded and overcooked. The inside had virtually disappeared and all that was left was crust. The gator bites were served on top of a mysterious substance they called risotto, but tasted more like orzo and cream. The salmon was old and the entire plate was slathered in too much sauce. This is sad because the food here used to be really good. The server was very sweet and enthusiastic so one star for service.
Who is eating here that this is a 4.5?? Terrible service... snooty and inattentive. Waited 21 minutes just for the check. Zero beer selection. No blended drinks because they don't have a blender!! A bar without a blender?? Food was unacceptable. Hardly any items on the menu. One side to choose from....ONE! Bar smelled so nasty. I almost vomitted in the restroom. DO NOT EAT HERE! And I'm not even mentioning the cost.... I will never come here again... period !
We were a little hesitant when we walked in because the restaurant was completely empty when every other place in town had hour long waits. We decided to stay hoping that we would get quicker service fir the 3 kids, it would've been faster to wait for other two restaurants. It wouldn't have been so bad waiting if the food was good, but it was not. The kids mac n cheese is Kraft at best, the ranch dressing tasted sour and the female manager told us that was normal! Multiple employees to include the female manager were standing around on their phones while we waited for our food. We would not recommend.
